Not What I Expected
on May 9, 2008

I have to admit that I was somewhat letdown by this movie that came highly recommended to me through a friend. While the performances are generally good, the storyline itself is not. Recommended to fans only.

Better than Average Movie
on May 9, 2008

Based on a true story, 'Casino' isn't an incredible movie, but it's better than average, and features some excellent performances. Fans will be happy with this recently released special edition, that features some bonus items not available on the previous dvd release.

Cult Classic
on May 9, 2008

'The Lost Boys' has obtained quite a cult status over the years, which somewhat surprises me, because it's really not that great of a movie in my opinion. Still, for fans of the cast, and the films cool soundtrack, this one is well worth the buy.

This shape-shifting comic fantasy has been given a stripped-down presentation for its release on DVD. Dream a Little Dream has been transferred to disc in full-frame format at the aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the audio (in English) has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. No multiple language options or bonus features have been included.

Another Corey & Corey Movie
on May 9, 2008
Posted by: kevman79
I don't know how many movies Corey Haim and Corey Feldman have done together, but it's more than a few. Still, this was one of their better outings, and worth a watch, or a purchase for that matter, for fans of the film.

Should Have Been Better For A 'Best Picture' Movie
on May 9, 2008
Posted by: kevman79
I'm kind of surprised that Martin Scorsese won the Best Director Oscar and Best Picture Oscar for this movie, which was good, but not great. Scorsese has done far better work than this film, for which he didn't win any awards. Nice 2-disc special edition here, for those who enjoyed the film.

Robert Zemeckis' comedy Used Cars comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English, French, and Portuguese soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. Subtitles are accessible in all three of those languages as well as Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and Thai. Supplemental materials include a commentary recorded by director Zemeckis, lead actor Kurt Russell, and co-writer Bob Gale. Also on the disc are outtakes, talent files, production notes, an advertising gallery, television advertisements, and radio promotional spots. This is an excellent disc from Columbia/TriStar.

Wasn't This Supposed to Be A Comedy?
on May 9, 2008

I thought this one would be a riot. After all, Kurt Russell was the star and Robert Zemeckis directed. Well, everyone has their bad ones I guess.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Christian Slater stars in this action comedy, which gets a solid release on DVD. Kuffs has been given a widescreen transfer to DVD, letterboxed on conventional televisions and enhanced for 16 x 9 playback on widescreen monitors. The original English-language audio and an alternate soundtrack dubbed in French have both been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround, while a third track, in Spanish, is in Dolby Digital Mono. Optional subtitles in Spanish and French are also available. No bonus material has been included.

Good Action-Comedy

This movie had a really good blend of action and comedy I thought, and Christian Slater gives one of his more memorable performances. Widescreen, recommended.

The film that shot Marisa Tomei to stardom comes to DVD in an excellent package. The disc boasts a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are also accessible. Supplemental features include a commentary by director Jonathan Lynn, theatrical trailers, and television spots. Fans of the film will be thrilled with the look and sound on the disc. Tomei's Academy Award-winning performance loses nothing on the small screen.

Joe Pesci Is Great

I thought Joe Pesci was great in this movie, which is actually a good piece of entertainment. Recommended. Widescreen.

The DVD for this classic film is strictly bare bones. The story of a con man who serves out his sentence in a mental institution was novelist Ken Kesey's wake up call to the world of psychiatric medicine, and the film delivered its message with wit, drama, and complex human emotion. The DVD, however, merely offers language options in English or French, and subtitle options in English, French or Spanish. At least the two-sided DVD gives the viewer the choice of letterbox or widescreen. The package includes a smattering of production note cards, but they relay no more information than the back of a video tape box. The transfer is poorly done, clearly from a used film print, and while the English audio is Dolby (not 5:1), the French track is mono only.

One of Nicholson's Best
on May 9, 2008
Posted by: kevman79
This film displays some of Jack Nicholson's best work, as well as a superb supporting cast. 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' is one picture I highly recommend seeing. Widescreen, but fans may want to go the extra mile and buy the special edition, that has a ton of bonus material not offered on this dvd.

The highly acclaimed drama One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest comes to DVD in a newly produced special edition. This 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer appears to be in great shape, save for a few instances of softness in the picture. Otherwise, Warner has done a very fine job at making sure this image is clear and very detailed. With vibrant colors (especially whites) and solid black levels, this picture should please fans of the Oscar-winning film. The soundtrack is presented in a newly remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track that suits the film well. While certainly not bombastic or overwhelming, this new 5.1 mix features subtle, discreet directional effects as well as crystal-clear dialogue, effects, and music. Also included on this disc is the original Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono soundtrack in French, as well as English, French, and Spanish subtitles. Fans will be thrilled to see this film in a coveted special edition featuring all new supplements. Starting off the disc is a commentary track by director Milos Forman with spliced-in interview segments by producers Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz. This is a very informative track that features loads of information about the production of the film. "The Making of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is a nearly hour-long documentary that sports interviews with actors Danny DeVito, Vincent Schiavelli, Christopher Lloyd, Louise Fletcher, and others. This is a very thorough documentary (though sadly cut down from its 90-minute running time on the laserdisc edition) that takes the viewer through multiple anecdotes and stories about the film's inception. Finally, there are eight deleted scenes in a somewhat rough form (no commentary or explanation for their history is given), a theatrical trailer for the film, and some rather boring cast and crew awards lists.
