this is one of the best movies that i have seen in a while. denzel, of course, was superb. the cinematography was amazing. i wish that it would have been more of a biography but it was a great piece of fiction.

it was a good movie. there were funny parts but it wasn't the end-all be-all of comedies like people were making it seem.

Jesse Dylan directs Method Man and Redman in the drug comedy How High, which comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1. Spanish and French subtitles are accessible, and both soundtracks are closed-captioned. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the two lead actors, an interactive games, a lighthearted making-of featurette, deleted scenes, outtakes, and the theatrical trailer. No matter what one thinks of the movie, this is a great disc from Universal.

i don't partake in the habit but these two are as good together onscreen as they are on wax. "go to class high, study high, get high scores"

The film that catapulted Jim Carrey to stardom, Tom Shadyac's Ace Ventura: Pet Detective comes to DVD with a standard full-frame 1.33:1 image. English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Mono. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are also accessible. Supplemental materials include production notes, a theatrical trailer, additional footage, and a commentary track. The only thing missing from this disc is a widescreen transfer. Apart from that, this disc has everything Carrey fans could want.

Wackiness ensues in the super comedy Super Troopers. Fox's work on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is excellent save for a small amount of edge enhancement in the image. Overall, the colors, fleshtones, and black levels are all very solid and clear. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and French, as well as Dolby 2.0 Surround in Spanish. While the film doesn't utilize a vast array of directional effects (except in a few key scenes), the bulk of this 5.1 mix if free of any excessive hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc are English, French, and Spanish subtitles. The extra features on Super Troopers are bountiful, starting with two commentary tracks: the first by director/actor Jay Chandrasekhar and actor Erik Stolhanske and a second by actors Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter, and Steve Lemme. Both commentaries are filled with many humorous stories, anecdotes, and thoughts about the film's production and history. A series of outtakes and deleted scenes are broken up unto four different sections and should please fans looking for more gags and jokes in the vein of the film. Finally, there is a very fluffy making-of featurette, a "Road Trip Newswrap" that follows the comedy troupe on the road, and theatrical trailers for the film.

Penelope Spheeris directs David Spade and Chris Farley in the comedy Black Sheep, which comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.0 and Dolby Digital Surround, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. English subtitles are accessible. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence. The film looks and sounds great on this Paramount release, but that is all there is.
