one of bay's best

this was a pretty good action movie from explosive master michael bay. and it doesnt feel like nicholas cage is mis-casted in any way. everyone does a good job especially ed harris(even though he plays every bad guy in every movie just about). even for today, the action is still great even if you can see the strings on a stunt man towards the ending. its funny, charming, thrilling, violent, and makes since. it does however fell a little drug out towards the end but i barely had a problem with it. overall, its one of michael bays best.
What's great about it: action, ending, nicholas cage

this shouldve won best picture in 05. i dont even remember what did win but all i know is that this is better. and of course coming from spielberg, you already know its good(and yes, kingdom of the crystal skull was good, too!!!). anyway, this film is just over 2 1/2 hours long wich might sound way to long, but its perfect for the story. this is a gritty, dark, realistic, and exciting masterpiece about the munich massacre back in 72 and will definetly be remade numerous times, but none will ever be as good as this. eric bana does great as the main guy(cant remember his character name at the moment). daniel craig(a.k.a. new james bond) does nice as steve. all the old guys in the gang are good and and all the other supporting roles do just fine. the little bit of the action there is is done in a great fashion. overall, its superb.
What's great about it: spielberg, cast, run time, story, music
What's not so great: nothing at all

good psycho movie

the story to mr brooks is very basic and simple. he used to kill people then he stopped for a while and after a while, his concince comes back cuz he obviously likes killing. there are two big highlights of the movie. kevin costner absolutely aces the part. dane cook does a surpringly great jod. everyone else just gets the job done, no bigees. so as all the main characters are all over the place, costner is being bugged by dane cooks character whos the most insane thing in the whole movie. so costner is on and off trying to be good but somethings holding him from the good inside him if there is any at all. overall, everything strangley works its way through to the partialy surprise ending.
What's great about it: cast, costner has that helper guy, perfect run time, dane cook isnt that bad
What's not so great: not the best story out there

good iraq war-type movie

jamie foxx stars in this over the top thriller and nearly everything about this movie is a plus. the cast is nicely placed and peter berg has mastered the shaky cam perferctly. everything about the movie seems almost like theres no bad guys. thats what they want you to think because its all clocking down the last 30 minutes wich is very intense and extremly well done. now that doesnt mean that the rest of the kingdom isnt well done because it is. its a solid war near epic but not so much as a complete masterpiece or best picture. its mainly a nice surprise with an unexptected climax in which the timing for it is so off, it felt like the real war where the unexpected could happen at any time.
What's great about it: cast, story, setting
What's not so great: 10 more minutes wouldve been fine

best bond yet

this is arguably the best 007 movie to be made. the only bond movies that are even close to being as good as this is:from russia with love, goldfinger, golden eye, and die another die. daniel craig is my favorite bond next to sean connorey. he is great in this and is the most athletic bond yet. the frist fight that goes from a cunstruction site to a heavily guarded building was great and no matter how fake and unrealistic you might think it is, its really about 90% real. daniel craig had to really keep up to the black guy and the black guy is a free runner from france, so he really did all that stuff. the story is pretty good and not so hard to follow. all the action scenes are extremely well done. all the cast is great. now, if your not one for really long movies, then youll be bored alot throughtout this one. its almost 2 1/2 hours long but i dont care, i like long movies for the most part. but the ending does drag out a bit and they spend way to much time playing poker. but you wont follow the whole parker thing at all. and they dont use so many gadgets mainly because this is about how bond got started. so if your a huge fan of bond and even if your not, chances are youll like it a lot.
What's great about it: daniel craig
What's not so great: spend to much time at the poker table

good so buy it now

this movie was great. leo speaks something ive never heard before but hes still good, good enough to get nominated i guess. the story is scadered all over the place but not to confusing, its mostly a survival story. there is a lot of violence but it looks real and most of the action scenes are well done. like the battle in that town when even the military surebdered to the bad guys. a lot of this movie just shows you how harsh some countries really are and you should respect that, like how rambo was. overall, this was a solid adventure movie.
What's great about it: leonardo dicaprio, length, sad but good ending

best superhero so far

christain bale is one the best actors of our time. he gets into character perfectly for every movie and nails the batman role(hes the perfect choice like robert downey jr was for iron man). on top of that, this is the best superhero movie i have ever seen and most critics thought that, too. yea sure the new hulk and iron man might be great, but this is fantastis. cillian murphy does a surprisingly good job as the scarecrow. thomas wilkerson aces the role of valconey(or however you spell it). all the suporting gets the job doen. and im possotive that heath ledger will be the best villian in superhero movie history. anyway, the story to batman begins was the best of all comic movies and the darkness of the film helped out a lot. and any batman fan will absolutley love this one, and im not a superhero movie person, and i still loved it. and of course it looks great being on blu-ray, but all movies do. overall, this was superb, and dark knight will be better.
What's great about it: cast, story, grittiness, villians
What's not so great: nothing really

funny so buy it

jack nickleson and morgan freeman deliver oscar worthy performances in this disapointlingly short but funny and charming story. both of them have very little time to live so they go off and do some crazy fun stuff in there last days. so one funny event leads to another but thats the problem. they skip around through the fun stuff to fast and before you know it, there in an argument. but in every little event, theres plenty of laughs and freindship. overall, its a small heartwarming and sad comedy.
What's great about it: jack nickleson, morgan freeman
What's not so great: run time, pacing

great war and date movie

michael bay is one of the best if not the action director of our time, or ever. every movie he does is epic in its own way and is huge at scale. the special effects in this movie are unbelievable and the explosions are massive. theres a half hour battle that is truly one of the best in cinema history. ben afflek does an okay job playing rafe. josh hartnet does good playin rafes best friend. everyone in the cast gets the job done for the most part. this movie is just as epic and huge as every michael bay movie. the camera gets insane and adds the intensety needed. i thought there would be more random slo-mo moments with the heroes because bay has done that in every big movie of his:armageddon, bad boys, and most of all Transformers wich i did review but didnt end up on this web site for some reason. anyway, pearl harbor may not explain everything behind the politics of the war, but what we get is delivered in the most proffesional way possible. some critics said that there was little or no politics told about the story. uhhh...theres about an hour spent at the white house in this 3hr movie(with president roosevelt brilliantly played by jon voight). i didnt care for any of the random scenes with the enemy planning the attacks, though, but who cares about the very minor flaws, meaning:old war movie cliches, and very little political reasoning. michael bay is one of the few directors thats has inspired me to become a movie director . but overall, this is one of the best ww2 movies in recent years and i cant wait for transformers 2.
What's great about it: action, relationships, michael bay directed it

great buy

this is probably the best remake along side war of the worlds and the departed. naomi watts is great as ann(but she wouldve died from kong draggin her around like that). jack black does a surprisingly good job as carl denham. and one of my all time favorites, adrien brody does good as the hero, jack driscoll. all the rest of the cast does just fine. but adrien brody shouldve came before jack black in the cast, though. peter jackson of course is gonna do a great jod telling the depth of the story and of course the special effects. the music is one of the main highlights here, though. its all great and really sets the tone for every scene. the second disc is great and tells you a lot from directing the trailer to sound mixing. every is there to like-the relationships, the special effects and the dramatic ending. king kong goes about 7 or 8 minutes over 3 hours. some people may think the begining drags on and it does but that didnt bother me at all. the run time is perfect here just so you get to know the characters. and so what if it takes an hour to get to the island. but when they do get there, its pure adrenaline all the way to the end with some of the most exciting chases and fight scenes in cinema history. so overall, king kong is a reinvinted masterpiece.
What's great about it: cg, music, cast, peter jackson, perfect run time, disc 2
