This is a great, great album

One thing's for sure.. there's solitude in this. Beautifully, dancing solitude.
Van Morrison's voice is what first drew me to him, the way it sounds like a stugggle, the way it almost gargles at times and tugs at certain muscles in my stomach. His louder notes do something to me that I can't explain, it's an emotion I have that few artists have been able to hit in the right way.
This is pure Ireland, I can see it in my mind from the start of the first track. Though the entire album is amazing, my favourite tracks would have to be the beautiful and slightly quiet at times, "Beside Me," and "Madame George," which literally paints a movie inside my head and gives me goosebumps.
I'm so glad that Van Morrison decided to do an Astral Weeks tour because these songs were not given enough air since their release, and considering it's his best work, that tour was much needed.
Definetly pick this up, you're record collection isn't complete without it.
What's great about it: Van Morrison
What's not so great: Nothing

Mumford and Sons are what was missing from my life
on June 25, 2010

It's been a while since a new band caught my attention and then earned my love.. but Mumford and Sons are definetly worthy of both.
This album has since bumped off The Dead Weather's "Horehound" from my top five favourite albums.
To put it simply, Marcus Mumford's voice not only rips right through me, but digs at the pit of my stomach and gets buried inside my skin. It's rough and raw and grinding.
There's so much music, so so so much that it's like food for your ears.
The lyrics are amazing.. especially on "I Gave You All" which is also my favourite track. If you're thinking about checking them out I'd suggest finding "White Blank Page." It's what I first heard of them and it gives you a good taste of what you're in for.
For a debut album this one is simply amazing, and I can't wait to hear what they'll put out next. These guys are definetly underrated because they have something special that I haven't heard in music in a long time. They have a lot of heart.
Also check out their music videos, they're especially beautiful and fitting to their music.

Tough Chick

PJ Harvey might be the sexiest, toughest, and most honest artist of her generation. And this album proves it.
From begining to end, she rocks. It's real, it's raw, and it's often angry and bitter. If you're going through a break up, you want this album.
"Rid of Me" starts of quiet and then breaks out with an intensity that is sure to get your blood flowing. "Legs" is probably my favourite from the album.. it maintains and eery feel while showing off Harvey's deep and rough voice and the beauty within it. "Rub Til It Bleeds" is probably the catchiest song and my first love.. if anything this girl has one hell of a back bone. It's nice to see a woman empower her strength and own it. While she may look small in person, after one listen to this record you will see her intensity and you will hear her big voice and realize that she is not your typical everyday artist. She is much more than that.
This is grunge.. beautiful, rough, raw, and bitter grunge. And it's at its best with PJ Harvey.
Definetly recommended, and definetly a favourite of mine.

Mystery White Boy

This is my all-time favourite CD. I cannot even begin to describe to you what it means to me. From the first time I popped into my disc-man I was in love. The beautiful and haunting begining to "Mojo Pin" literally makes you feel like you're in a dream. The emotion throughout the entire album is incredible and undeniable. It's definetly not the sort of record to throw on and have playing in the background because it steals your attention. The songs have an incredible amount of depth and Jeff's influences shine through his own work beautifully. His cover of Nina Simone's "Lilac Wine" is not only amazing but it's amazing that he included it on his album.
My favourite track would have to be "Lover, You Should've Comer Over," just for the pure romanticism of it. Lines like, "All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter," send a chill down my spine.
Jeff's voice will echo in your mind for hours after listening to him. With him you'll hear each note, you'll follow his voice from a whisper to a scream. His range is insane and the songs are not black and white, they are intricite and full.
What's great about it: His soul, his voice, his art.. everything else.
What's not so great: Absolutely nothing.

Amazing Debut Album
on April 8, 2010

This album is easily one of my favourite albums to date. They're cover of Bob Dylan's "New Pony" is even better than the original, and it's hard to top Bob Dylan, especially at his own song.
This album is very rough and raw and definetly has an edge to it. Alison's voice sounds like maybe she's had a shot or two of whiskey, it has a snarl and a husk all at the same time. The combination of both White and Mosshart's vocals is incredible and they fit and blend really well together, especially on "Will There Be Enough Water," a slower song which was the perfect way to end the album.
The lyrics are often simple but in a good way, in a way that I haven't heard in a while.
Unlike most, I actually really love the album cover and the artwork within the CD jacket, it fits the mood and feel of the album very well.. it's a perfect match.
The entire album has a seductive and slightly sexy feel to it, especially on tracks like "Hang You From the Heavens," and "No Hassle Night."
I cannot wait for the release of their second album, "Sea of Cowards," due out on May 10th!
What's great about it: everything, the fact that jack white and alison mosshart are collaborating, everything
What's not so great: nothing

Simply Remarkable

Although Johnny Depp plays the main character in this film and does a wonderful job at making your heart twist and turn for him, the person who really shines through is Leonardo Dicaprio, who is pitch perfect in this role. At times your forget that he is acting, because he does a marvelous job at portraying the mentaly challenged.
Juliette Lewis has an untraditional type of beauty that made her perfect for this role, and who can forget Mama?
The book is a bit more extravagent so the movie tones it down a bit, which is nice.
You will fall in love this movie and all of the characters within it.
Excellent film.

Jeremiah Chechik's quirky romantic comedy Benny & Joon comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround, while a Spanish soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. Spanish and French subtitles are accessible, and the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by those involved with the production, deleted scenes, a music video, and the original theatrical trailer. This is a solid disc from MGM/UA.

A very fantastic film. It is unlike any other film that I have seen.
I do wish that there was more backround information to it, but all in all it's a winner.
What's great about it: interesting story line and plot, great acting by mary stuart masterson and johnny depp
What's not so great: don't read too much into it

I seriously loved this film! It was brilliantly done, and definetly Colin Farrells best work so far.
It was hilarious and even touching at times.
Make sure you don't miss this one! It's so annoying that it didn't make it to big theatres everywhere. It's so great!
What's great about it: colin farrell, irish humour, beautiful scenery
What's not so great: NONE
