Perfect, basic slow cooker
on September 17, 2020

This is a nice, easy to use and affordable slow cooker with just the right amount of features. It doesn't have many of the high end features that show you things like cook time remaining, etc.. And to call it programmable is a bit of a stretch, since you can't actually input any time you want. What you can do is select high temperature cooking for 4 or 6 hours, and low temperature cooking for 8 or 10 hours.
We tend to use slow cookers for basic items like roasts, chili, mushroom appetizers and the like, so for us it's just fine. We cooked an eye of round in it, which is a more lean cut of meant and can tend to get a bit tough, but it turned out fantastic in this cooker. The 6qt size is on the small side but perfect for roasts, sloppy joes, chili, or soups. The latch-able lid works really nice for transporting your hot foods to wherever you need to go. There are holders on the lid to keep the latches from banging around and getting in the way, which is a nice feature. The side handles are nice and big and keep you from getting burned when moving the cooker.
The pot itself is black ceramic and cleans up great and looks really nice. The lid has a soft rubber gasket that compresses easily when using the latches. The latches provide a good snug fit and are not difficult to latch into place, like a lot of other cookers I've used.
The low cost of this cooker combined with the ease of use and great portability make this a really good choice for basic foods and appetizers. The standard selection of cook times make it a snap to cook with. The black color, both inside and out, has a good sleek look, and the 6qt size keeps it's counter top footprint nice and small.

Great sounding headphones
on September 2, 2020

The Sennheiser name has been around for as long as I can remember and it's a name that's synonymous with quality. This is my first pair of their headphones. The sound quality is some of the best I've heard in a pair of headphones like this.
One of the most important aspects of a pair of good headphones is that they deliver good sound quality. These phones definitely deliver on this point. The first thing you will probably notice is the bass response. It sounds deep and rich and the sound pressure level was truly noticeable. They have a very airy, spacious quality to them and I really enjoy listening to them. They have plenty of volume headroom and for once I was able to listen at a volume I like without wishing they would go louder. I find most noise canceling phones sound much better with this feature turned off and never enabled. These are no exception. Maybe I've never found the need for this feature, but they always seem to introduce some strange sounding elements, and take away the cleanliness. To be fair, I didn't really try very hard with this feature but they sound so good I didn't want to explore it for longer than a few minutes.
The look is actually quite simple and plain. Not really what I expected but not a bad thing. They're lighter than similar headphones I've used which should translate to a more comfortable fit, and looking at them I would have bet they were very comfortable, however after about an hour I found them to start hurting my ears. This is not uncommon for full headphones but it was a bit disappointing. The ear cups have a nice soft pseudo-leather covering and the foam underneath is nice and cushy so I attribute the discomfort I experience to the firmness of the spring headband. In an effort to ensure headphones stay in place these days I think this is a common trait, especially with more and more people wearing headphones for a variety of workouts. It's truly a fine line for head phone manufactures to walk and it's very subjective because everybody has a different shaped noggin.
The button layout is not especially intuitive and on top of that they aren't labeled. The volume rocker switch is easy to feel and the transport switch is too. I like the transport switch, you push it forward for the next track, push it backward for previous track and press it for play/pause. The two small mysterious buttons, one at the front and one at the back would really benefit from some type of label. Surprisingly, one of them is the power button, which also doubles as the noise canceling button. The other turns on or off the voice assistant. You can choose your favorite one.
A small and often overlooked feature is the ability to fold them down to a relatively small size for traveling. In fact they even come with a carrying zippered pouch. Nothing fancy, just a nice nylon case. Perfect for a carry-on, a backpack, etc.. They come with a USB charging cable and an 1/8” phone cable. Battery life seems good and even after listening for a couple hours I was still at over 90% battery life. I really love the sound of these phones and they will be one of the pairs I grab for first. I wish they were a bit more comfortable, but they are certainly fine for shorter periods of time. The controls are “ok”, nothing ground breaking here, but in all fairness, you really don't need to touch them very much, so not a big issue. There is a companion app available for download and I didn't need it to pair the headphones. It does offer some EQ abilities and you can save as many as you want but there were only two pre-defined settings included. It's not necessary to use the app and it's really pretty basic so you may not find a need to anyway. Sennheiser did put the majority of their efforts into the great sound. And at the end of the day, isn't that the bottom line anyway?

Feature packed buds with great sound

The LG HBS-FN6 are a pleasant surprise in the world of ear buds. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first opened the box. I own quite a few ear buds from a wide variety of manufactures and to review any of them fairly, you need to do two things. Experiment with the fit and use several different music apps to experience the capabilities of the buds.
I really like the size of the UVnano case and the way it doesn't fall over when it's open. That seems like a small deal, but I have some brands that are a real pain to deal with because their cases are simply awkward. The case that comes with LGs is a really nice, well thought out design. The buds are easy to put in, and easy to remove. Magnets guide the buds into the case and I never questioned whether they were sitting in there correctly. Well placed tiny LEDs give a quick indication of the state of the buds and their charging case. The ability for wireless charging is a great addition and something that any tech savvy company should include these days. Another benefit of this case is that it continuously kills bacteria on your buds with UV light while they're charging. A cool addition and one I haven't seen on another case yet. Although this feature only works when the case is plugged in, it's a really good idea and will help keep your buds bacteria free.
The buds themselves are very easy to handle. The size and the shape allow them to be put in your ears without a lot of messing around. After just a couple uses, I was able to get them in place perfectly the first time. I like the touch feature to pause playback, answer calls, etc.. They come with three sets of different sized gel tips. Out of the box, the medium tips are installed. I found I needed to switch to the larger sized ones to get a proper fit. When it come to buds, fit is everything! It determines how good (or poor) the sound quality will be. And as I've said, you need to play around with the fit to get the best sound.
As with any buds, their sound quality is directly affected by several factors. After I got the fit I needed, I started playing around with different music apps. I listen to a lot of mp3's and have a pretty extensive library that I listen to. The first app I used was my standard Samsung Music. It's a nice little app that is easy to use. Sound quality was pretty good but I thought that the overall top end volume was a little short of how I like to listen. But the sound was very good. Decent clarity and depth with good bass response. The next music player I used was Poweramp. With this app, the buds exploded. Even richer sound and cleaner richer bass, with even more volume top end. I listened to wide variety of music and enjoyed the sound of everything I heard.
Battery life seems very adequate and since I'm never really all that far away from a charger or a phone I can charge them with, it was never an issue for me. They have no trouble staying charged for a weeks worth of use at about 1 ½ hours per day. So to me that's more than I could ask for. These are pretty feature packed buds and they have become one of my standard pair since I got them. IPX4 water resistance rating will keep them secure from splashing water, but a higher rating would have been nicer. Still, it's something. They are comfortable for long periods and sound great. Really nice job LG!

Fun, good tasting ice right on your counter!
on July 15, 2020

I didn't even realize that somebody made something like this. It's great in the kitchen and the ice is really fun. It comes with a lot of great features and fits perfectly on a counter top and under your cabinets.
We go through a LOT of ice in our house and the ice dispenser in our refrigerator doesn't work anymore despite being only six years old. This machine is a really cool alternative. First off, it looks really nice. The build quality is great, and feels solid. It fits perfectly on a kitchen counter and looks beautiful with the stainless steel. I like the way it's self contained. It uses a side water container which you can remove and fill much like a coffee maker. The controls on the front panel are soft touch and not mechanical. They have lighted indicators on them as well. It also has a readout on the left that lets you know when it's making ice and shows the WiFi status. The ice container has a light in it with two brightness settings. It's a really cool look and shows the ice level.
I can only describe the ice it makes as, fun. They are pellets and the consistency is not rock hard like normal ice, but more sno-cone-like and very chew-able. It's great in soft drinks but also nice in water. We all drink a lot of water in my house. It's pretty automatic and senses when the ice level is down and automatically begins making more. When the bin is full, it stops making ice. If you set up the WiFi and download the app, it shows you the status of the ice maker (making ice, etc.), shows you what the light setting is and allows you to change it from the app, and you can even set up a schedule for making ice. It was easy to set up and gives you the info you need.
The only complaint I have about it, is that if you put it in your kitchen, it's a little noisy. It isn't a huge annoyance, but it's definitely audible from outside the kitchen. It would be great in a home bar area and would be right at home there. Other people have mentioned that it makes enough ice for them, but if several people need ice at about the same time, someone would be out of luck. In my house, it can't keep up with our needs, but we still like to use it. It just can't be our only source of ice, especially on hot summer days.
All in all, it seems to be a really solid and well thought out device. It makes really tasty ice that you won't break a tooth on. The size is literally perfect for a counter top or bar area. Anyone interested in having an extra machine around to make ice should seriously consider this machine.

Great features but lacks quality sound
on June 14, 2020

So, I have an older Sony SRS-XB41 speaker that I love and use all the time. The XB33, can't really hold a candle to it. I like the size of it. It looks really good, and Sony's build quality is great.
The ports and buttons on the back and behind the door are well thought out, and arranged nicely. The buttons feel solid and have a good feel to them. There's three buttons, batt/light, party mode and stereo mode. There's also a USB DC out port that lets you charge your phone while you charge the speaker and a USB C charging port. The speaker comes with nice lighting affects and you can turn them off if you don't want to see them or keep them on for a nice party feel.
This speaker also comes with two very cool modes. Party mode and Stereo mode. To use either of them you need to buy and pair an additional Sony Bluetooth speaker or speakers (apparently up to 100). I would have really liked to have tried either of these modes out but I don't have another compatible Sony speaker. The SRS-XB41 speaker I already own is NOT compatible (and actually, there are only a handful of Sony speakers that are, so if you want to use these modes, make sure you get a speaker you can use). In stereo mode, you can pair this speaker with another one, and get true stereo sound (different left and right channels). In party mode you can actually pair up to 100 of these guys and play the same music on all of them (albeit in mono).
I like the buttons on the top as well. They are easy to press and the small LED indicators on top are nice and bright so that you get good feedback from them. I like that it has an IP67 waterproof rating, which makes it a great choice for around pools or camping.
What I'm not sold on is the sound. This is not an inexpensive speaker and for the price I really expected much better sound. The SRS-XB41 was a far superior choice and I'm sure some of the slightly larger speakers in this series would be comparable. For me, the sound quality is just not there. The bass is thin and sounds like you'd expect on a speaker this size. The Live Sound mode adds a spacious feel to the sound but doesn't really improve the bass response. Sony makes a lot of good quality Bluetooth speakers, but my advise would be to go with a different model, or at the very least, listen before you buy. That being said, if you're looking for a small Bluetooth speaker with adequate sound, great features and great build quality that's sure to last you for years, then this might be a good choice for you.

Unexpected level of quality
on April 30, 2020
Posted by: enem156
from Chicago, Il
The first thing I have to say is how this set exceeded my expectations. I was initially very impressed and that feeling continues every time I watch something on it. The price tag is very deceiving and I originally thought that I would be very disappointed with it.
Not so at all. I'm used to spending a considerable amount on AV equipment and own several really nice systems, so I do have quality components to compare it with. The first thing I noticed was the very small bezel. It's not invisible, and depth wise, it's not the slimmest but it's small enough that it doesn't jump out at you and scream “here I am”. It was easy to mount on the wall by reusing my previous TV's mounting bracket. Not a huge amount of weight either, but you'll want an extra pair of hands to help mount it because of it's size.
The connection jacks are adequate. It has four HDMI inputs with one of them being an ARC channel. It also has a composite video input, and RF jack, an Ethernet port and a headphone jack along with two USB ports. It does NOT have any component video inputs, which was no problem, but bears mentioning for anyone looking for that. For wireless connectivity there's WiFi and Bluetooth. The remote control is set up nicely and is slim and easy to hold. There are dedicated buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Google Play and Vudu. All of the buttons feel real good, not cheap. They're labeled intuitively and it's really easy to find the input, setting and home buttons. One of the best parts is that it has a built in mic that allows you to control or find your favorite shows or services with your voice command. It works really well through the built in Google Assistant app. My only complaint about the remote is that I wish it was illuminated but you can find what you need easily enough without that feature. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it also has Chromecast for anyone interested in casting video from their phones.
Now, the most important part. What is the picture like? Well I can say it's pretty darn good. Real good in fact. I was impressed by the rich colors. I've watched a lot of different cable and streaming shows on this set and all of them look very impressive. 4K content really pops with exceptional clarity and vibrant colors. Black levels are very good and a lot more pure black that I expected. Dolby Vision HDR is also present and I noticed that it will pop up a DolbyVision notification when it goes into this mode. Disney+ has some of this content, and it looks pretty amazing. I heard the speakers for a short time before I had my receiver set up correctly. They sound... adequate. Loud enough, but not tinny or distorted.
With an Android TV you have a huge number of apps to choose from to download. Netflix, Vudu and Amazon Prime are what I usually watch and they perform and look fantastic. Since I have a Google account, it was a piece of cake to set up all the details without having to type in all your information. It used my Google account and paired with my phone to set up my Google account information and even found all my WiFi info so that I didn't have to enter in anything manually. Anyone looking for a good size TV (and this is definitely a good size), but also needs to pay attention to cost (like I do), will totally appreciate the Hisense brand. This is the first one I've owned, and any reservations I've had in the past about this brand have been put to bed with this set. Really worth checking out.

Stylish and tough with all the extras
on February 16, 2020

This is one of the best pieces of luggage I've ever seen. I've had Victorinox products in the past (Swiss Army Knife, Watch) and always loved them. They are always well engineered and hold up forever. This suitcase is no exception. It's an expandable soft shell, but with many of the features you'd find on hard shell cases. The fabric is tough. It has an insane number of zippered pockets. All the parts used to make this suitcase are high quality, YKK zippers and Hinomoto dual casters to name a few. The casters all swivel and the case glides very easily and smoothly. But at the same time it's very easy to steer. It's very stylish looking and has the look of a high end piece of luggage. I love the Victorinox badge on the exterior.
The handles are all very rugged and spring back flat against the case when not in use. The collapsible handle is easy to extend and has two different stop heights. Operation is very smooth. What was an unexpected feature was a TSA approved combination lock. This allows you to lock it with your own three digit code, but also allows TSA security to open the case without damaging it. It traps the two zipper pulls in the lock mechanism and with the correct PIN you can simply push the button and the zipper pulls pop right out. They also offer a free cloud service so you can store your PIN. Just log into your Victorinox account to access it.
The interior is as beautiful and functional as the exterior. It comes with a Victorinox Pack More organizer which is itself expandable and can hold a 15.4” laptop, and garments as well. The organizer is completely removable and is the size of the case itself so that it can sit in the bottom of the case allowing you to pack on top or beneath it. There's also a removable Garment Suiter that allows you to pack suits or dresses, and shirts with the hangers and zip them up, fold the Garment Suiter and secure it with the hook and loop tabs and the buckle clips. When you get everything in place, you can use the compression straps to snug everything down and pack it tight. This is a really well thought out interior and in addition to the zippered internal pockets, it also comes with a special pocket for your Swiss Army Knife. A 10+ year warranty rounds out the long list of features this case comes with. This is an ideal size for short business trips or weekend getaways. There's even a small onboard tool kit that includes a mobile phone reset tool, an ID tag and a ballpoint pen. I can't think of anything that this suitcase is missing.

Huge amount of features and included attachments
on January 9, 2020
Posted by: enem156
from Chicago, Il
The LG CordZero is a very versatile stick vac with plenty of innovative features and a good amount of power. There's a lot of positive things to like about this vacuum starting with the number of attachments and extras you get with it in the box.
For starters, it comes with three heads, a brush head which works well on carpeting. A hard floor head that uses a soft cloth that's quiet and easy on your hardwoods. And a third head for vacuuming your cloth furniture and even your bed. All of them work really well. There's also various other attachments for getting into crevices and other hard to reach areas.

I can't say enough about the included charging stand that comes with it. This is something that all other stick vacs I've ever owned have missed the boat on. This one stands up by itself which allows you to store it where it's convenient for you. You can also mount it on the wall if you like. It will not only charge your stick vac, it will charge the included extra battery at the same time. The stand is great, and you can store all the attachments on it (except for one of the heads), so you can always find the one you really need. The stand is one of the coolest things about this vacuum.
The motor is very quiet, more so than all my other stick vacs. When you press the power button to turn it on, it starts out at the lowest (or standard) level. From there, you can press the “plus” button to go up two more speeds. Each is a bit louder than the last, but they are all relatively quiet. The power is pretty good although, not the best I've used, but that being said I never had a problem with it picking anything up. And I never had to repeatadly go over a section of floor to get it clean.
When you take the vacuum out of the stand, the suction tube is collapsed. There's a release on the back of the tube that allows you to slide the tube to three other different lengths. It's a unique idea and it works very well. It's a smooth operation to change the tube length and it accommodates people of different heights nicely.
Even though there are two batteries included, it's very rare that I need to change the battery to finish vacuuming. So the battery life is quite good for each battery. With several of my other battery powered vacs, I usually have to plug it back in to charge it again before I can finish my rooms. Cleaning it is pretty easy, and it's a bag-less system so it should be easy to just dump out the cup, but what I find is that I always have to dig around in the cup to pull everything out. That's not a good thing even though it does come apart pretty easily. One of my other vacs has a much nicer system for pushing out all the dust and lint, and I never have to get in there to clean it out. This vacuum also comes with two washable filters, which is really nice because if you wash the filter out with water, you can just plug in the dry filter and keep vacuuming.
With all the features and extras that this vacuum comes with it's really hard not to like it. It's really set up for doing a lot of vacuuming and it provides ways around a dirty filter and a worn out battery with extras of each. That's something that most other stick vacs just don't give you without a huge buy in.

Small, good punchy sound and secure fit.
on December 13, 2019
Posted by: enem156
from Chicago, Il
I have a lot of wireless earbuds.  I've always loved not having a cord to worry about and get in my way.  These days, with more and more manufacturers ditching the 1/8" headphone jack, earbuds like these make a lot of sense.
The Fit:
There's a lot to like about the Backbeat Pro's.  To start with, they're very small.  Some might say too small, but I really like the size.  They come with three different sized neoprene tips, so you should have no trouble getting them to fit correctly.  When they sit in my ears, they pretty much block out all external noise.  This is a nice feature especially when you're in a noisy environment, or you just want to slip into your own world for a bit.  They feel very secure, and I've never felt as if they were going to slip out.  They also have an IP54 rating, so they won't be bothered by sweat or rain.
The Case:
The charging case is pretty small as well and I can easily stash them in my pocket in the case.  The charging port is on the bottom and there's a simple push button to open the case.  Popping the top reveals a charging led at the back side.  It's all really self contained and travels very well.  You can charge them with the included short cable from your computer.
Pairing:
Pairing them was very easy once I loaded the app.  I tried to connect them first without it, but didn't have any luck.  The app is very basic and is best used to either connect the buds or find them if you misplace them.  Other than that, I really haven't opened it since I first paired them.
Controls and Sound:
You can control the transport functions, volume and answer calls directly from the easy to find buttons on both buds.  This saves you time and frustration while you root around for your phone.  The sound quality is very good.  It's very clean without sounding thin.  Actually, there is a lot of clean low end.  Sound pressure levels are quite good and I really enjoyed the overall balance of sound.  They just had a good clean sound.  I listen to a wide range of music and I had no complaints with any of the music I chose.
Conclusion:
Battery life seems good although after a week of using any ear buds, I stick them on the charger to top them off.  The batteries in these are adequate, and I never saw that as an issue.  I like the very small size, and they are easy to travel with.  Very good all around sound with noise cancelling microphones, and noise blocking fit.  I really like them.

Great little printer with really nice features

I really like this printer. This is a really cool printer for not a lot of money. The smaller size means you have more options for where you can put it. A lot of printers these days are on the larger side. The TS6320 is able to cram some really good functionality into a reasonably sized package.
The controls for the printer itself are laid out really well. It has an illuminated power button and next to it, has an illuminated strip that shows you the print status with lighting effects. It includes a multi line display that while small, has very good resolution and is easy to read. It walks you through the setup process right from the screen and is intuitive enough that I didn’t need to open up the quick start manual. I actually set it up on my smartphone first, which was pretty easy. When I went over to my laptop, all I had to do was add a new printer. It found the TS6320 right away and I printed to it immediately. No elaborate setup needed. It also has a good amount of mechanical buttons that include things like direction arrows, back, start, stop and a button that will display a QR code that lets you scan it with your phone to be taken to more information about the printer and the setup steps.
You can print directly to from your mobile device by using either the WiFi connection or Bluetooth connection. Printing is very quiet and surprisingly fast. Multiple ink cartridges means you only need to buy the color you ran out of instead of a tri-color cartridge. I found the build quality to be on par with other printers in this same category. Actually, I would say even better. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that it has a rather small paper load tray. But it does give you a rear (vertical) paper tray that you can also fill with paper. One of the nicest features of this printer is that it does have duplex printing. Canon is really good about providing this arguably necessary feature on every one of their printers I’ve ever used. A lot of name brand printers still seem to think of this feature as an option, but when you consider printing manuals, school papers, documents, etc., not to mention paper conservation, it just becomes an obvious feature to include in all printers.
This printer also has a scanner/copier function. These features also work really well and are very intuitive to use. I found the overall quality of the documents I printed to be sharp and clear. The scans and photos I’ve printed have been of really good quality as well. Because of it’s size, this would be a really good printer for a college student in a dorm but it works so well right out of the box with just a few setup steps that it would also be a good choice for anyone’s home printer. But because of the small paper tray you might want to think twice about using it for a small business printer. The low price makes this printer a really good choice as a good quality all around home printer.

Not enough suction
By BHIHIFI
I bought this after reading a positive review in a leading consumer magazine. It comes with an impressive number of accessories but the suction is weak. It would not even vacuum up bits of grass on my doormat. I returned it and bought the portable Dyson instead. Night and day difference.

Wrong vacuum review?

I'm not sure that you're reviewing the vacuum you think you are. This vacuum really doesn't have any accessories...

Is the stand on the back removable?

I'm curious if the stand can be removed so the monitor could be mounted or lay flat on a table.

Can you install a full version of microsoft office on the Slate 21?

No. You can only install Android apps. MS Office is available in a mobile edition though, and can be found on the Google Play store. It also comes with Kingsoft office pre-installed which is a nice mobile Office-like app that allows you to do a lot of the things that you would using Office.

Keyboard / mouse required? And multi-tasking

Are the keyboard and mouse required for the Slate 21? Or can we just use it as a tablet device with onscreen keyboard if need be?

Also, can it multi-task, meaning run two apps simultaneously for instance, netflix on one side of the screen and chrome on the other?

Thank you for help!

Uday Khosla
The keyboard and mouse are not required. We use ours without them.
As far as multitasking several apps at once, no. So far that's a bit of a reach for an Android machine.
