Pixar has made another great family film. This should definitely be part of your collection whether you have kids or not.
What's great about it: Great story, good message, good humor
What's not so great: None.

What a trip!

The government has developed a technology that allows a them to watch what happened 3 days in the past anywhere in the world. You really have to have your thinking cap on to catch everything the first time through the movie. Odds are, you'll end up watching again to pick up some of the clues, but it will be well worth it.
What's great about it: Very interesting concept, Denzel is great as usual.
What's not so great: None.

Typical romantic comedy

Good flick as far as romantic comedies go. Although you have to be prepared to see Terry Bradshaw's naked rear. A good one to have on hand for a movie that your lady will enjoy.
What's great about it: Good date movie

The surfing movie Blue Crush comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English, Spanish, and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. There are no subtitles, but the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by director John Stockwell, a second commentary track recorded by the three lead actresses (Kate Bosworth, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sanoe Lake), a making-of documentary, deleted scenes, a music video from Lenny Kravitz, a featurette on surfing, footage of spectacular surfing wipeouts, and biographies of the cast and crew. Those with a DVD-ROM drive can access additional extras. This is an excellent release from Universal.

Good for a cold night.

This is a typical romantic comedy, but with a tropical twist. Throw it in your collection along side Failure to Launch & How to lose a guy in 10 days.
What's great about it: Nice footage, mildly humorous
What's not so great: sort of chick-flicky

Another great Bond movie.

The new bond is about as cold hearted as they come. He does a nice job, but I enjoy the special effects of the Brosnan character (fake as they may be). Add this to your Bond collection, but be prepared for a different kind of Bond.
What's great about it: Clever wit & the usual James Bond charm
What's not so great: More than typically unbelievable plot, not very many special effects

Watch it over and over again.

If you liked the Ocean's 11 series and The Thomas Crowne Affair, this movie is for you. It brings a high profile robbery to the bahamas. Put on a fire, and pop this movie in on a cold night.
What's great about it: Great storyline, humorous
What's not so great: None.

Sad story with a difficult ending.
on March 29, 2008

If you can get past the language, this is a good thinking movie. The plot is a sad story about a girl who goes missing from a neglecting mother. The meat & potatoes of the movie is in the final 15 minutes when the main character has to make a tough decision. You'll find yourself asking your friends, "what would you have done?"
Not the greatest movie of all time, but if you're looking for something just a little different, this might be for you.
What's great about it: Interesting plot
What's not so great: Lots of swearing, a couple graphic shooting scenes

Not a typical Will Smith movie.
on March 29, 2008

This is not your typical Will Smith role. This is a disturbing movie about a doctor who finds a cure for cancer that ends up wiping out almost the entire world population. The disturbing part is the mutant humans that weren't killed by the virus. If you like scary movies, this one is for you. Otherwise, don't even rent it, just move along.
What's great about it: The actors did a good job, interesting concept.
What's not so great: Storyline was more intense than I was expecting.

Originally bought this to use with Burnout Paradise. Kind of cool for the first half hour or so, but drops off after that. Also fun for non-gamers to experience the interactive screensavers that you can buy from the Playstation Store online for just a few bucks.
If you're not interested in the screensaver thing, I'd say skip the camera/microphone and buy a bluetooth headset (motorola seems to work well). If you've got nothing better to do with $40, go ahead and round out your PS3 accessory collection.
What's great about it: Cool for interactive screen savers
What's not so great: Microphone picks up ambient noise, camera picture is grainy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Arcade Style Sports Game
on February 28, 2008

Aside from the challenge of fielding the ball (maybe it's just me, but I have a heck of a time reacting in the correct direction), this is a fun game. The players look pretty close to their real selves, though everyone seems to have been beefed up quite a bit. Justin Morneau's arms look like they're about 12 inches thick and Joe Mauer's face looks like a Botox procedure gone wrong. But I do have to say that you can generally tell just by looking at the players who they are supposed to be. Maybe with the next playstation they'll get even closer to real life.
The ballparks are amazing. Everything down to the right banners, scoreboards (though they don't actually keep score), they even got the seat colors right.
This is a great game if you're into arcade style sports games, especially since it's one of the only PS3 games that isn't $60. Probably not for you if you prefer simulation style.
What's great about it: Cool arcade affects, realistic ballparks, intuitive controls
What's not so great: Fielding can be tough
