Video game made into a movie. This is a fun movie with lots of action. Yeah, some of the action is too much special effects, but hey, it is a video game. I like Kristin Kreuk in the lead role. Nice to see her do something beyond Smallville. She does a good job of being the action lead.
What's great about it: Lots of action
What's not so great: Simple plot, too much un-real action
An action-suspense movie similiar to Speed (or Speed 2). A police detective is the target of a nutcase he had busted years earlier. The nutcase kidnaps the wife and the detective must run thru "12 Rounds" of actions to gain the freedom of his wife. Lots of good action. A good movie for a Sunday afternoon!
What's great about it: Lots ofaction and suspens, very exciting
What's not so great: seems like a rehash of Speed(2)
Push seems to be patterned after the movie Jumper. This is a sci-fi movie with strong suspense elements. Set in Hong Kong, the movie has an exotic flavor. Plenty of action and special effects. A great movie for a Saturday night.
What's great about it: Liked the story idea, nicely done movie
What's not so great: Seemed like I was watching "Jumper 2"
A good fantasy adventure movie. Based on the Japanese Manga "Dragonball", this is a cartoon brought to the big screen. OK, this review is based exclusively on the movie as I haven't seen nor read any of the original Manga mateials. I really enjoyed the story and this was well made. I specially enjoyed the character Chi-chi. The reason for giving a 3 is that the story was a bit simple and the build-up to the big closing scene was too easy; perhaps this is a side effect of using a manga as your basis. Yes, I will watch this movie again in the future and do recommend it. P.S. Nice to see Chow Yun Fat in the movie.
What's great about it: Chow Yun Fat, great Cinamatography
What's not so great: Weak and simple plot, plot doesn't need a movie to tell the story
I am very impressed with this movie; 5 of 5 stars. Just watched the extended Director's cut making it a very very long movie. The story is very complex with alot of flash-backs and even some flash-forwards. Several stories are intermixed until they finally all come together. Great characters; though I didn't really connect with any of them. Unique style of photography and vision. I just added this to my list of favorites. I will have to see this movie a few times to completely digest and understand it; complex.
What's great about it: An unusual Superhero plot, flash-backs/flash-forwards
What's not so great: I didn't connect with the characters
5 of 5 stars for the Transporter 2 is the best of the three movies in this series. It continues to follow Frank Martin but with all new story and chaacters. Great action in this movie. I specially liked the opening scene with the attempted car-jacking of Frank's car; a bad idea. Also of note is how they saved money on the costumes for the lead bad-girl; only Victoria's Secret. This is a must see movie!
What's great about it: Jason Statham action/fights, great plot
Just a note to start with: this is a video recorded during two live Las Vegas shows. So, things like "plot" and Cinamatography dont really apply.
I noticed Terry Fator about half-way thru the season of America's Got Talent. Yes, I voted for him (often). Each week on AGT he seem to just get better and better. In the semi-final I knew he could carry a one hour Vegas show with this puppets. I was so happy that he won and am now very happy to own the DVD of his Vegas show with te behind-the-scenes story of his career.
Fator is not a flash-in-the-pan who got lucky to win AGT. For years (decades) he has worked very hard to develop his skills and show. AGT was a great platform for him to mature and gain a following on a national scale. I am so happy for his success and hope to see him live at the Mirage on my next visit to Vegas.
The DVD is well crafted and the live performance nicely shot. I specially enjoyed they left in a "long blooper" where he made a mistake in a complex dialog and to watch him recover from it. The Vegas show is fun to watch and a great showcase of his talent. Perhaps even more than the show itself, I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes which documented his career to date. Wow! He has worked so hard to get to this point!
I do recommend this DVD. Fun for the whole family.
What's great about it: Winston the Impersonating Turtle, family entertainment
Wow! 5 of 5 stars for this X-men movie! Great story, great characters, extremely well created movie! Action, sci-fi, characters, scenses, wow! OK, I am a fan of the X-men series of movies (1 to 3). Now this installment gives the history of the key character Wolverine, from young kid just discovering his mutant skills to his time at war (from WWI to Viet Nam). This is a must watch movie; oh, Blu-Ray makes a big difference!! Alot of great behind the scenes material on the Blu-Ray including an interview wth Stan Lee and a deep-dive into each character.
This is now on my favorite movie list!
What's great about it: Story, characters, great Cinamatography

OK, it is hard to get excited about a sub-woofer. Yeah, but, my old old one died and I needed a replacement. My needs are to fill a modest sized room with big booming bass from action movies. I'm not much into music, so my basis of reviewing is how it performs during Blu-Ray movie playback.
Too much bass is not a good thing. Being able to set the cross-over with my main sound system is important. I have found tweeking the sub-woofer higher in the cross-over range helps my overall sound quality. Keeping the volume relatively low keeps the overall sound clean.
Bottom line, I am very happy with the size, shape, color, look, sound and performance of this new sub-woofer. I do recommend it. (Although the termites in the floor are probably now probably deaf.)
What's great about it: Great sound, easy to control

Memory Stick is a Sony thing. When you buy a non-Sony memory stick product your fear is compatibility. Well, I just bought this 8G memory stick for use in my new Sony Webbie HD Camcorder. It works perfectly.
I choose an 8G card expecting the Webbie HD to chew up space like crazy, but, I have found that the MP4 compression and lower bit rate of the Webbie is friendly to memory stick capacity. In fact, for my purposes, I could have used a 2 or 4G stick and been happy.
I also like the eco-friendly packaging for this product. Mostly cardboard with only the smallest plastic covering. Nice!
What's great about it: It just works as expected for a lower price than others
