F. Gary Gray's inner-city heist film Set It Off comes to DVD with a pair of images. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame 1.33:1 picture. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include cast and crew biographies and filmographies, a theatrical trailer, and the music video for Ray J's "Let It Go." This solid disc will please genre enthusiasts, as well as the film's fans.

A great drama movie about four who fall on hard times and decide to rob some banks. Laeding off is Jada Pinkett who is brilliant as woman going there alot to help her younger make it to college. Queen Latifah does a strange convincing job as Cleo, that had alot of people questioning her. Vivica Fox plays a former bank teller that knows the inside track on the bank. And last but not least, new comer Kimberly Elise plays a shy single mother that needs money to take care of child.

Doug McHenry's urban drama Jason's Lyric comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Subtitles are accessible in both of those languages as well. Supplemental materials include the original theatrical trailer and a collectible booklet. The film looks and sounds fine, although it could look and sound better. This is an acceptable, if run-of-the-mill DVD release from MGM/UA.

Great Hood Love Story

A love story that usually doesn't come out of the urban life, but yes it does exist. Its a love story of guy that loves his family, but now found a love of a woman and now he needs to choose, family or the woman. Beautifully done, but the Houston accents need a little work

A taxi driver is unexpectedly taken on the ride of his life in this stylish thriller from acclaimed director Michael Mann. Max (Jamie Foxx) is a cab driver who hopes to some day open his own limo company; one night behind the wheel begins promisingly when he picks up Annie (Jada Pinkett Smith), an attorney working with the federal government who is attractive, friendly, and gives him her business card after paying her fare. Max thinks his luck is getting even better when his next fare, Vincent (Tom Cruise), offers him several hundred dollars in cash if he'll be willing to drop him off, wait, and pick him up at five different spots over the course of the evening. Max agrees, but he soon realizes Vincent isn't just another guy with errands to run -- Vincent is an assassin who has been paid to murder five people who could put the leaders of a powerful drug trafficking ring behind bars in an upcoming trial. As circumstances force Max to do Vincent's bidding, the cabbie has to find a way to prevent Vincent from killing again and save his own skin, a task that becomes especially crucial when he discovers Annie is one of the names on Vincent's hit list. Collateral also stars Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg, and Bruce McGill as police detectives hot on Vincent's trail.

Tom Cruise is great as a killer

A very good thriller that will have you on the edge of your seats to see if Tom Cruise will be successful assassin or will Jamie Foxx prevent him from killing his mark. I like the movie but the camera they pick to shot the movie gives it that gridey look that could sometimes look out of focus.

Weedheads got Half Baked and How High, and now alcohlics have their movie now. Beerfest is just like any other movie is talking about doing something over and over. There's no real plot, this is just eye candy movie that you watch just for fun

Peter MacDonald directs Damon and Marlon Wayans in the con-man comedy Mo' Money, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. English and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include the theatrical trailer. The lack of a widescreen transfer is a disappointment, but otherwise this is a fair release from Columbia/TriStar.

Mo money, mo problems

This is a funny movie with two of more physical Wayans brothers, Damon and Marlon, that has some action and a little bit of drama. Even with the 'it girl' of the 90s, Stacey Dash splashing her lovely smile and sassy ways all over the screen, you be sure that its funny

Richard Benjamin directs Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg in the comedy Made In America, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, marking this Warner Brothers release as little more than a pedestrian bare-bones release.

This is a funny look at a woman just trying to get the best man for a baby, but she gets to see a small part of him. With then couple Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson, brings a funny comedy that may have in crying for more. Will Smith and Nia Long costar in this coming of age comedy

Tony Scott's cyber-conspiracy thriller Enemy of the State comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio, and a few bonus features, including a "making of" featurette, a featurette on Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and the theatrical trailer. Though full-length commentaries from Scott, Gene Hackman, or Will Smith would have added to the disc's merits, Enemy of the State's nonstop action and humor still make the DVD worthwhile.

Post 9/11 or did they know
on November 1, 2007

If you ever seen this movie, watch it again. At the beginning while Regina King's character is looking at the news about a report on an agency to watch other people and what they are doing, the new anchor makes stardling reference to planes flying into buildings. Post 9/11 attacks, did Hollywood know about terrorist plans? Back to the review...this is a very intense movie that not like your usually Will Smith movie, not that much CGI.
What's great about it: Everything

Michael Mann's biopic Ali rightfully earned Will Smith the best reviews of his career as well as a nomination for Best Actor from the Academy. Mann has added scenes and extended other sequences to create the director's cut that appears on this disc. The film itself is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.40:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Mann. His comments tend toward commenting on the historical events depicted in the film rather than to the filmmaking process, but he does offer much insight into his intentions with the film. A newly produced making-of documentary rounds out this solid release.

Its an okay look of the Greatest
on November 1, 2007

For a movie to be about the Greatest Boxer of All Times, this was very bored display. It was good that Will Smith met the physical requirements, but the voice change was really weak. Mario Van Peeples, although a good actor and dirctor, but as Macolm X that should only be done by Denzel Washington.
What's great about it: In-ring shots are great; and Will's physical change
What's not so great: Will's voice and too long

While Kevin Smith tends to divide audiences with his films, most people agree that his commentary tracks are some of the best in the business. Jersey Girl may be one of his less successful films, but this disc offers a pair of hilarious commentary tracks. The film itself is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The disc does a fine job of capturing Vilmos Zsigmond's cinematography, which made this easily the best-looking Kevin Smith film. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. The first commentary track features Smith, producer Scott Mosier, and Smith associate Jason Mewes. They have an irreverent, wide-ranging conversation that touches on a variety of topics including sex, how Gigli hurt this film's box-office potential, and a hilarious digression in which they discuss a version of Jersey Girl that could have borrowed elements from Village of the Damned. The second commentary track consists of Smith and star Ben Affleck. They have a genuine rapport with each other and talk about everything anyone could hope for, including the decision to cast Jennifer Lopez, Smith's feud with the British press, and the economics of the film industry. Interviews with the cast and crew, a video interview between Smith and Affleck, and a handful of Smith's "Roadside Attraction" pieces for The Tonight Show round out this release, which turns a less than interesting film into a highly entertaining DVD.

Bennifer made a good movie
on November 1, 2007
Posted by: Layz

This is a cute little movie about the love of family first. This emotionally charged movie is actually good even though Bennifer (Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez) are stars, but Raquel Castro is the real star. With costars George Carlin and Liv Tyler this movie will have you laughing and crying, but have a good time watching
What's great about it: Raquel Castro is amazing
