Great all-in-one outdoor grill, plenty of options!
on November 2, 2022
Posted by: Namdnas
I want to preface this review that I am currently recovering from surgery. Due to this, I was not able to use this grill and get my review in as soon as I'd have liked. I finally got around to unboxing and using the grill over this past weekend, so let's talk about it!
I've been eyeballing this grill for a while and finally decided to give it a try. I love Ninja products, but a few of their things can be hit or miss. Thankfully, this one has been a hit, all the way, thus far.
I will say that this grill is one of the hardest unboxings of any Ninja item I've had. It has a lot of sharp edges (until you get the side-handles attached) and is difficult to remove from the box. Once you get it out, as with all Ninja products, you satisfyingly remove all the tape and cardboard shipping protection. However, the instructions for installing the handles state to NOT remove the tape until you get the handles on. I really wish this would have been more forewarned because these handles single-handedly knocked a star off an otherwise PERFECT review.
To attach the side handles, the instructions state to leave the tape on, tilt the grill backwards or place it upside down, so the grill lid doesn't open. Since I'd already taken the tape off during unboxing...I tried re-attaching it. Then, I flipped the grill to where I had access underneath. When I did, the tape popped off and the grill lid flew open. Naturally, in trying to catch it, my reflexes kicked in and I hurt my area of surgery...it bothered me for a few days afterwards. The grill is small, but it is pretty heavy. Anyway...it took about 45 minutes to an hour just to get 4 screws screwed in underneath the handles (two on each side)...this was absolutely ridiculous and should not have been anywhere near as hard. I could not get the screws in the handles to line up with the holes under the grill. I finally got mad, gave up, thew a comforter on the couch, sat the grill on it fully upside down and screwed the screws in with all of my arm strength, stripping them or not. Thankfully, I finally got them and they seem fine. But Ninja...if you're reading this, please make future models a little more easier to assemble something as simple as the handles.
Otherwise, everything else with the grill was a great experience. I love that they give you two sample packs of the grill pellets...a pack of an "all-purpose" blend and a pack of a "robust" blend. The all-purpose is great for hamburgers, hamburger meat, chicken and such. The Robust blend seems to be more geared towards steaks, ribs and whatnot. I fixed 4 partial-Wagyu beef patties for hamburgers and used the All-Purpose blend pellets. They all turned out great and didn't even seem to shrink as much as I expected them to. Everyone enjoyed and complimented the burgers. Unfortunately, that is all that I was able to try on it for now - due to my surgery and it turning cold outside, I can't be out in the weather for too long at a time (sinus surgery). But, I do hope to be able to fix a few more things before Winter sets in, especially smoked ribs and some other pork!
I do wish there would have been a built in meat thermometer, but I found out that there is actually another model that has this. Not too big of a deal, though - I have a digital thermometer that I use with an app on my phone, if needed. Sometimes, it better to have stuff like this separate, anyway - one less thing to break over time, lol. You can also get a grill stand and cover directly from Ninja, along with some other accessories. I may invest in those over the Wintertime, so I can really get this thing going in the Spring! Oh and I'll for sure be buying more pellets once I use these (each bag is good for 6 uses, not bad for samples!).
Overall, I'd give this grill a 4/5 stars. Docking the one star for pain-in-the-butt assembly of the side handles - 4 screws should not be that problematic.... If you're looking for a great outdoor grill, look no further than this one!

The best Air Purifier I've ever had
on October 23, 2022
Posted by: Namdnas
I've been wanting to get an Air Purifier for my game/media room to keep the allergens and primarily, the dust, down to minimal levels. I actually did not know that Ninja made these! So, when I came across this one, I was pleasantly surprised. I (mostly) love Ninja products and have a lot of their kitchen appliances/devices.
Unboxing this was a pretty good experience. I was ecstatic to see that the control panel on top of the unit was actually a detachable remote! Setup was super easy. Really, all I had to do was take the filter panel off, unbag the filter and place it back inside. Then, plug it in!
I was a little confused at first between the few different modes, like Air Purification, Fan and Heater. Well, the heater was self explanatory, but I was mostly curious between the differences of the Air Purify mode and the Fan mode. Mostly, in Air Purify, it vents the fresh air out of the back of the unit, whereas the Fan mode pushes the air out of the front of the unit as a cool breeze. Now, before I started using it, I thought the fan mode worked the same way as the Heater mode, where you choose the room temperature and let it do it's thing. Sadly, that's not the case. While the Heater mode functions this way, the Fan mode does not. It doesn't really "cool" the room, but more or less provides a gentle breeze. This was kind of a bummer for me, as I still need to use my tower fan to keep the room cool. I guess I really need to invest into a small, floor-based air conditioner.
One other thing that I wanted to note is that I just had surgery on Oct 6th and have been recovering. I've had a lot of downtime to game and such, so a lot of my time was spent in my game room, with this Air Purifier. My Air Purity levels have stayed at 100%, dust seems to be a bit less than usual and in my two and a half weeks of using this, my filter life is at 95% - that's with it going on average of 12-16 hours per day. Not too shabby!
Also, the price of the filters are very reasonable, so it shouldn't be too painful on the wallet to replace them. The documents state to replace the filter yearly, but it can be longer, depending on how much it's use and how much is filtered.
Overall, barring the lackluster fan option, I'd still give this unit a solid 5/5. I love the looks, the performance and how quite it is, as well as the detachable remote. If you're in need of a sharp-looking Air Purifier, this one is a no-brainer! The only real issue I have is that it would have been nice to be able to tie it to an app for further controls (like to power it off while I'm away, etc).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great device - Beware if using screen protectors!
on August 22, 2022
Posted by: Namdnas
I've seen the Backbone's for a while and have always wanted one, but I've been a PlayStation guy since the PS4 released and thus, it never really appealed to me as they've all used the regular "Xbox" button layout. I don't do too many mobile games on my phone and have always wanted to dabble with Remote Play on PlayStation, but never really wanted to deal with the extra controllers, setup and such. Then, I heard that Backbone was releasing a PS5-themed version of their controller and I decided it was finally time to get one!
Now, I've done a lot of research in the past, as I've thought about getting one before. I know you cannot use your phone case with it. Which, for me, is not such an issue because I use an Apple silicone Magcase on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, so the phone just pops right out. Not a big deal. However, I do use a Zagg screen protector and even in my research before pulling the trigger on this PlayStation-themed Backbone...I've read online and on various forums that it is fully compatable with screen protectors and that there should be no issues in that department. So, with this knowledge, I went ahead and bit the bullet and grabbed this Backbone controller.
I was super pumped for this to arrive. Once it got here, I waited for the weekend, so I'd have PLENTY of time to play with it and test it out. Well...guess what? My phone, with the case off, will NOT fit the Backbone because the left and right "lips" of the Backbone unit that goes over the edges of your phone do not raise above the glass enough for it to fit properly. Thus, the lightning plug does not go fully into the phone and the phone is not secured to the Backbone properly. I did try pressing down and "wedging" it in, but to no avail.
So, this review is very limited, as I've not even gotten to try out the device because I'm not taking off a $60 screen protector just to be able to use this. However, I will be fair and give this review a 4/5 stars because of the unboxing experience and the overall build quality of the Backbone itself. It even has the PS logo on the back, once it's stretched out, which I thought that was super cool! All the buttons are very tactile and feel just like those on the PS5 DualSense controller, which I LOVE.
However, this is the end of my review, sadly. If you're in the market for this, GET IT. It seems to be an amazing little device...
BUT...know that:
A) You cannot use a case with it - I'm not docking a star for this because I totally expected to have to take my case off every time, anyway.
B) If you're using a thicker screen protector (like a diamond one), such as the those by Zagg, this will NOT fit. At all. I'm docking a star for this because we already can't use a phone case with it - there should be just enough "budge" in the design of this device to allow for at least a screen protector.
With that being said, I don't know anyone who goes completely naked with their iPhone...without using at least one or the other of the above. So, for now, this will just double as a super awesome looking paperweight or desk decoration.

Finally found my perfect compact keyboard!
on July 28, 2022
Posted by: Namdnas
So, I've been primarly rocking another major brand for all of my PC gaming peripherals for the past 10+ years. I just purchased a brand new custom-built gaming PC back in Feb and did some major upgrades to my entire setup around then, as well (new desk, keyboard, mouse, the whole thing). Ultimately, I wasn't too happy with my new mouse and the 65% keyboard I had was...meh.
I've heard a lot of great things about SteelSeries and I've been doing a lot of research over on Reddit. I've learned that I'm really more of a TKL buy, but man, I do love the small form-factor of these 60/65% keyboards. So, I decided I'd go with the SteelSeries Apex Mini Pro to see what all the rage is...I've heard time and time again that SteelSeries makes some of the best big-box branded keyboards out there (non-custom).
As soon as I received my Apex Mini Pro, I immediately cracked it open and set it up. The unboxing was pretty average. With this version, you only get the keyboard itself and a nice, lengthy, braided USB-C to USB-A cable. I love that the cable is detatchable, even though this keyboard is ONLY wired. There is a wireless version, but I'm more of a wired guy, myself when it comes to keyboards and mice.
Once I got it hooked up and everything powered on, I installed the SteelSeries Engine/GG software. I've heard about a lot of bloat here, but honestly, it's not that bad and I believe I like it more than the software I've been using for my other brand. The RGB is fantastic! I also love the textured feel of the PBT keycaps. They don't show oils/smudges/grease like some of my other boards show and I like how the RGB shines through. My fingers also don't feel as "slippery" when gaming for long sessions. Really, my only complaint with the keycaps is that when you hold the function key to access the other layers (like if you want to hit an F key, Del, Arrows, etc)...while the keyboard lights around the various keys for that function level...the text for the secondary layers and such do not light up on the keyboard like the regular letters and numbers do. This kind of makes it a pain using it in the dark, especially while you're still learning where everything is at. I'm not docking for this, though, as my other 65% board was the same and with other brands, this also appears to be the norm.
I did test out the Omnipoint actuation speed and the dual-layer action key bindings. For the actuation features, I freaking LOVE it! I set it to the top, for the fastest speed and haven't looked back. This makes barely touching the key register vs. having to press it halfway to register the keypress. This makes it great for fast-paced games like CoD or even an MMO like FFXIV, where you need to move as SOON as you press that key. Alternatively, you can set this as per-key, as well. So, if you have a key you don't use often but say, accidentally hit a lot, you can set the actuation point to the very bottom, so you really have to press it for it to register! As for the dual-action keybinds...I was less impressed by this one mostly because it just doesn't' feel...natural. This basically sets the key to where a light press does one thing, then a full press does a second thing. But, it's incredibly hard to "train" yourself to do this. I'll stick with the Omnipoint speed adjustments, but for the type of games that I play, I don't ever see myself using the dual-action binding feature. But, that's my personal preference. It's still a great option to have!
I am, however, going to dock a star from my review for the build quality of the keyboard. Unlike the other Apex Pro boards, this one is metal only on the top, around the keys. Elsewhere else (sides and such), it's plastic. This keeps the board from feeling 100% premium compared to SteelSeries/s other flagship boards (like the Apex Pro TKL). Additionally, given the price of this Apex Pro Mini board, I would have loved to seen a small OLED screen like on the other models and they also skimped out on providing their outstanding wrist wrest, like they have on their other keyboards. My guess is...the ones provided with their others magnetically attach. BUT...where this one only has plastic around the outside...there's no possibility of it attaching magnetically. But...even without that, I would have loved to have seen a matching wrist rest provided. It doesn't have to attach!
But don't let that one-star dock fool you. Let me just say this...I loved this keyboard SO much that I went all-in on SteelSeries. I got their Aerox 9 MMO/MOBA mouse and their QcK Prism XL mousepad. And just the other day, I ordered their new Arctis Nova Pro headset. So, I am now fully a 100% SteelSeries guy. I believe this is the first time a product has impressed me so much that I just ditched everything I already had and went 100% in...
So yes. If you're looking for a smaller, compact keyboard and won't miss immediate access to your F keys, arrow keys and such (honestly, how much do we REALLY use those when gaming?)...GET THIS KEYBOARD. Besides, It's not like those keys aren't just a function-keypress away!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great sound and comfort, but a bit gimmicky.
on May 4, 2022
Posted by: Namdnas
from Johnson City, TN
I've recently gotten addicted to collecting various headsets. I've tried many, many different brands over the past few years. I do have a small hearing issue, so finding a great headset that allows high(er) volume levels, customization and great sound are crucial for me, as well as Bluetooth functionality.
These Razer Kaira Pro PS5's fit the bill...mostly. Let's start off with the unboxing. Overall, the box/packaging is great and really feels premium on both the outside and inside, as is the usual for Razer products. Inside, you get the headset itself, the detachable mic, a USB-C receiver, a charging cable and a USB to USB-C cable so you can plug it into a regular USB port, if needed. Overall, I like the packaging and unboxing experience.
The headset itself looks sharp. I love the white/black color scheme, which fits the PS5 really well. The earpads are pretty comfortable and have not yet gotten sweaty on me or anything. The clamp force, at least for me, was a bit between light and medium. Not too tight, but not too lose. If you shake your head violently, they WILL come off, lol - but that shouldn't happen often, haha. The look of the mic came across to me as pretty standard and quite frankly, cheap looking. It is detachable, thankfully, so if you don't plan on chatting while gaming or taking a Bluetooth call, you can just keep it detached.
Setup was pretty quick and easy. I had no issues connecting it to my PS5. I did download the Razer Audio app and it's really bare-bones - I honestly don't see a need for this. There's only a few options within, along with the current firmware version. That's it. Oh and if you want to mess with the Chroma lights, there's another app for that. I find that needing two apps for this headset is a little unnecessary. Because of this, I decided I'm just gonna leave the RGB at the defaults. During use, I didn't notice any audio drop-outs or anything of that nature and everything seemed pretty stable. I just never could figure out how to update the firmware...I know on my Kaira Pro's for the Xbox, there's a Kaira Pro program for the PC that does the updating. But there doesn't seem to be anything like that for these. Perhaps the Razer Audio app takes care of this and there just currently wasn't an update at the time I received them? I was unable to locate any information on this in my Google searches, either.
As for Audio, these cans sound pretty great. I had no complaints in regards to the audio quality and they do get pretty loud. Not quite as loud as my primary gaming headset, but pretty close. Bass sounds great, as well. Now, about the Hypersense. As someone with a hearing disability and being used to rely on vibrations as a "secondary" sense, I was really hoping this technology would help make up for some of my issues. Such as, vibrating on footsteps within say, Call of Duty. Alas, it just doesn't seem to work that way. It's more of an extension to the overall audio itself and to me, felt more reliant on the bass for feedback more than anything. At first, it's really neat and you're just soaking it all in because it's new. But after about 2 hours of Vanguard, I felt myself wanting to lower the intensity of it or turning it off, altogether. However, Elden Ring was a much more pleasant experience, as the vibrations weren't so constant and jarring. Over time, though, it just feels like this feature can become "gimmicky". Not to mention the extra battery drain. With Hypersense on Medium and the default Chroma RGB, I got about 18-20 hours of juice, which is pretty subpar, as most headsets these days boast at least 40 hours of battery and some upwards to even 50.
My biggest peeve with this headset and one of the main reasons I'm not 5-starring it is because of the Razer "Smartswitch" feature. Really? This is a FEATURE? Wow...it's more or less like an advertisement for a downgrade. My primary gaming headset, along with others I own, fall into the $100 - $150 price range and allow me to game AND use Bluetooth at the same time. I'm playing Elden Ring and I get a call? Great, I can answer it and talk to whomever and the game audio is lowered in the background, but I can still lightly hear it. Not with these Razer Kaira Pro's...if you are gaming and say, a call comes thru, you have to hit the "Smartswitch" button to change over to Bluetooth on your phone or whatever device is connected/paired. This, in 2022 AND at this price point, should not be the case. Oh and if I'm gaming and my phone dings, I don't hear it over the headphones and the audio, so I miss out on things like that. Really, really unintuitive and requires more micromanagement than needed. Bluetooth should be simultaneous.
And lastly, the mic. Wow...this has to be one of the worst headset mics that I have used. When testing it on a call or even PS5 Party Chat, I was told pretty consistently that I sounded really bad and hard to understand (as well as not very loud), which is a first for me. I switched to my other headset I use on the regular and was told it was MUCH better.
I'll keep these Kaira Pro's for Solo play, when I want to enjoy the Hypersense...and just keep the mic detached. I'll use my other headphones for when I need quality voice chat and/or I just don't want the Hypersense functionality.
So, in conclusion, I'm rating these a 3 out of 5. I'm docking majorly for the limited Bluetooth functionality and calling it a "feature", the bare-bones phone app, the fact that two apps are needed to fully customize/configure the headset, being unable to locate HOW to update the Firmware (which I'm pretty sure is via the Razer Audio app) and the 20 hour battery life (yes, I get it will be higher with Bluetooth and Hypersense off). Oh, and the abysmal mic. If you don't care about the Bluetooth functionality, then, maybe consider these a 4 out of 5.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A fantastic everyday mouse for gaming OR work!
on December 17, 2021

My primary mouse is an MMO-style one that has the number pad on the side, as I play a lot of Final Fantasy XIV and other games. However, it is a bit heavy and clunky for FPS games and such. So, I was in the market for another mouse to use for those games so I can retire my MMO mouse to just those type of games.
This mouse fits the bill, perfectly. I never got to use the original G303 mouse, but I've heard good things about it. Overall, this mouse does seem very basic, which can be a good or bad thing. Good, in the fact that it can function great as both a gaming and a work/production mouse. Bad as in...I think for the price, it should be about $30 less than retail ($99..99 instead of the retail of $129.99). Additionally, please note that given all the technology this mouse has, there is zero RGB to be found. Which also goes in the "basic" category. But, this can also be a plus for those that are not much into the whole RGB thing.
While this mouse is wireless, it can also be used with the charging cable attached and charging the mouse. Overall, the grip feels great in-hand. While the overall form of the mouse has changed a tad from it's original version, it has been custom fitted for Shroud, himself. Meaning, it's designed to fit his hand perfectly, so it may not fit everyone's the same. Also, this mouse is designed for more of a "claw" grip. So, if you don't "claw" your mouse when gaming, another mouse may be a better fit for you. I do like the semi-transparent sides and there are also small indicators that reflect where Shroud rests his fingers while using the mouse.
The G303 Shroud edition does boast a 145 hour run time on a single charge and from my use, that seems about on par. I'm sure not having RGB helps with this, as well. In use, I've tried quite a few FPS games and threw in a few others for good measure. These include CoD Vanguard, CoD Cold War, Warzone, the new GTFO game that just released, Hunt Showdown and Warhammer Vermintide 2. Oh and I also tried some Age of Empires IV and New World with it! In all the games I've tried, I've got ZERO complaints in the functionality or quality of this mouse. It slides GREAT across both my fabric and hard mousepads from my Logitech PowerPlay pad and my Razer fabric mat I have spread across my desktop. The grip feels great and I never had any issues with my hands slipping or sliding off.
If I had any complaints about this mouse at all, which I won't dock any stars for, they would be:
A) This mouse does pick up fingerprints on it's matte-type finish. So, you will need to periodically wipe them away if that type of thing bothers you.
B) The internal USB wireless receiver storage feels like a bit of an afterthought. It pops out and back in fine, no issues. But it seems like a lot of wasted space. I would have much rather seen just an embedded square under the mouse that the receiver pops into with a cover that pops over it.
C) No RGB. I mean, that's fine and some prefer that, but I would have loved to have seen at least the "G" logo lit up using LightSpeed technology to match my G915 TKL keyboard.
Overall, 5 stars! I love this mouse and it will for sure get my primary use in FPS games and Age of Empires. And probably New World as well. But for MMO's, I'll definitely stick to my MMO-type mice.

Anker products are awesome. This is no exception.

I've purchased a few Anker products in the past and since then, pretty much every charging dock, cable, etc, that I own are Anker brand. I've been in need of a really good wall charger that has more than one USB-C port on it for a while now. Enter this new Nano Pro!
I love it! I use it in my gaming/media room and I keep two USB-C cables attached at all times. These are used for various things, from charging my PS5 and Xbox Series X controllers if/when the batteries get low during use to plugging my 2021 iPad Pro 12.9" in for either a quick charge or a steady charge if I'm watching Twitch, YouTube, whatever. It's not failed me in any way and charges with the best of them!
If you're in need of a fantastic charger for a great price, even beating out the "larger" brands, go for anything made by Anker! I recommend their stuff for all my friends and family members.

This is definitely their best Pressure Cooker yet!

I love Ninja products. Of all the ones I've had, I've only ever had a bad experience with maybe one of their products, but Customer Support has been great, throughout. I currently have a Ninja Coffee Maker, Foodi 8qt Deluxe Pressure cooker, Foodi Deluxe grill and a Foodi blender. I had seen Ninja's new pressure cooker FINALLY has an all-in-one design. Having to keep up with the pressure cooking lid on my old one was getting old, haha (not to mention even more storage space).
Unboxing this one was a treat, as are all Ninja products. Hope you like tape! Seriously tho, getting it out of the box isn't a bad experience and I've always gotten some weird satisfaction from peeling off all the plastic-like tape from all the various parts that holds the unit together during shipment. I've always loved this about Ninja products and have never had an issue with residue or anything being left behind.
Once unboxed and set-up, dang...this this is super nice to look at. I think I will actually leave this one out on the island "on display". :-) And I'm happy to report that function is just as good as form! I've thrown all my recipes at it that I've used on my 8qt Deluxe without a hitch and no issues with running out of room in the pot, either. The only difference I've noticed between this 6.5qt one and my other larger one is just the depth of the pot. It's a bit smaller, but not significantly.
I've tried Hibachi Fried Rice (one of our favorites to make!), Sesame Chicken, Multi-Layer lasagna (using a spring-form pan) and my absolute go-to...RIBS in this unit for review testing. ALL of my recipes came out the same, if not even slightly better than they have in the past with my other model. If I only had one issue with this one is the fact that due to the lost depth of the 6.5 qt, I can only due one rack of ribs at a time...MAYBE two racks if they are both on the smaller side. My other one could do 2 full-sized racks at 2.5 to 3 lb per rack.
So, I'll be using this one as my primary one for cooking and my old, bigger one exclusively for ribs. Also, functionality of this new Foodi Pressure Cooker is 14-in-1 as advertised, but I don't expect to use every single option available. The pressure cooker has your typical Hi/Lo option with the amount of time. Beyond that, you also have the AirFry/Stovetop options for Sear/Saute, Steam, Sous Vide (which I probably will never use), Slow Cook (Great for Chilli!) and Yogurt (not a function I'll use). The Hibachi Rice worked fantastic with the dual Pressure Cook/Stovetop combo.
All-in-all, I give this a 5/5 stars. This will be a new staple appliance in my kitchen.

A subtle, but nice, improvement over the V1

I wanted to preface this by saying that I was unable to supply pictures for this review because I'm currently in-between phones right now and do not have my camera available. I was waiting to do this review to see if that would be resolved by now, but it hasn't. So, I'm going to go ahead an review this.
I'm a huge Razer fan - always have been. I've currently got everything connected to my computer as Razer equipment. From my Raptor monitor, to my current V1 Huntsman Keyboard, my new Basilisk V3 mouse, headset stand and even mousepad. I haven't upgraded things in a few years (besides the mouse).
I seen the opportunity to get the new Huntsman V2 keyboard and thought it'd be nice for a change. I haven't used any other Razer keyboards besides their BlackWidow and Huntsman V1. I was excited to try this new version of the Huntsman and I will say - I'm definitely not let down!
The packaging is pretty basic for their keyboards. It just doesn't have the fancy "lift up flap" retail box that some have had in the past. The advertised features on this keyboard include the normal Optical Switches, Doubleshot PBT keycaps, sound dampening foam, digital dial and media keys, on-board memory and the included magnetically attachable wrist rest.
That's a lot of features and what I like to call "fluff" for the most part. I currently own the V1 version of this keyboard, so I kinda new what to expect, already. I just wanted an upgrade because the media dial on the original version of this keyboard left a lot to be desired (it just feels...rough). The sound dampening foam is probably the biggest upgrade on this keyboard and let me tell you, it does an AMAZING job. So much so, that it does make the "rattle" sound when moving the keyboard or pushing your keys even that more noticeable. But that, I can live with. Outside of this standout feature, everything else is pretty basic for this type of keyboard. They did improve the quality of the digital dial, which I LOVE. I don't really use the memory and the keycaps are actually very nice and seem to resist fingerprints, oils and smudges much more than the V1 keyboard did.
The only real complaint I had with this keyboard is that, unlike the original Huntsman, it lost the RGB on the wrist rest and around the edges of the keyboard. I think I actually prefer this? It's so weird, but it doesn't seems as "overdone" on the V2. The wrist rest does attach very lightly, so you may or may not fight to keep it attached to the keyboard itself...especially if you're heavy handed. I haven't had a problem, but I can definitely see where it could become an issue. I mean, it's not like you HAVE to use it anyway. I just felt compelled to use it on my V1 because of the RGB lighting, lol.
All said and done, I'd give this keyboard a solid 5/5 stars. Most of the "features" are pretty standard fare nowadays for gaming keyboards. But this is a first for Razer keyboards to include dampening foam, much like a lot of custom keyboards. It's great to finally see "big brand" manufacturers taking this route and I'd like to see them start implementing this as a standard across all their keyboards.

The best Razer-branded gaming mouse I've used!

I'm a huge Razer fan - always have been. I've currently got everything connected to my computer as Razer equipment. From my Raptor monitor, to my current V1 Huntsman Keyboard, Trinity mouse, headset stand and even mousepad. I haven't upgraded things in a a few years and I definitely don't play MMO games as much as I used to (nor MOBA's), making my Trinity mouse feel a little more useless than usual.
I seen the opportunity to get the new Basilisk V3 mouse and thought it'd be nice for a change. I haven't used any other Razer mice besides the Naga and Trinity ones and I've heard that the Basilisk mouse is one of their top ones. I was excited to try it and I will say - I'm definitely not let down!
The packaging is pretty basic. It's in a more "flimsy" than normal black and green box, which isn't very big at all. The advertised features include gen-2 optical mouse switches, 11 RGB lighting zones, Focus+ 26k DPI sensor, Hyperscroll Tilt Wheel and 10 +1 programmable buttons. I tend to downplay features on most electronic devices because let's be honest, they're mostly marketing "fluff". However, in use, the one feature that really surprised me the most with this mouse is the Hyperscroll Tilt Wheel. Now THIS is where it's at. I've been using my Logitech G502 wireless mouse a lot on my laptop gaming PC and have really come to love it, especially the scroll wheel. There is a button that you can click to change it from a "smooth" super-glide scroll wheel over to the "clicky" scroll wheel. I LOVE this feature and am SO glad to now have a Razer mouse that uses it! And also to one-up my other mouse, you can even change this in the Synapse software, if you wanted.
The optical switch is nice and clicky, without being annoyingly clicky. The Chroma RGB is typical Razer, except on this mouse, there's a strip at the bottom that creates this neat "flare-out" effect on your mousepad. Almost like an underglow. The programmable buttons are pretty typical and while the Focus+ 26k DPI sensor is nice to know you have....in reality....why? I don't know anyone who would use their DPI that high. Even myself, I usually keep my DPI between 800, 1200 and 1600, with 3 stages. I don't know anyone that would realistically use anything this high. But hey, it's there if you want it.
The form factor is great and the mouse is light enough for not only gaming, but every day use, if you wanted to. My only real issue I had is just more of the "drag" feel across my mousepad. Underneath, there are two rubber feet up at the top of the mouse, one on the bottom and one on the left side (where the thumb buttons are). This mouse could have for sure benefitted from having another foot on the right side. Dragging it to the left feels fantastic, but dragging it to the right just feels....I don't know how to explain it. Just a tad different.
I tested this mouse in New World over the weekend, as well as CoD: Cold War and both games felt absolutely fantastic with it.
Given the price of this mouse with all of the features, I highly recommend it and would give it a straight up 5/5 stars. I'll be keepig this as my main desktop mouse and setting aside my Trinity mouse in case I ever decide to pick up an MMO down the road.
