The "Coffee Table Book" of DVDs

Being a subscriber to Netflix, I have no real reason to own a DVD collection. After reading Baraka reviews, I made an exception and I am glad I did. This DVD was produced using the highest of production values regarding audio and video. You are taken on a journey to some wonderful, far away places that any well traveled person will recall and appreciate.
Great for meditation and to simply escape. If you can rent the BR DVD and I am pretty sure that you will not only want to add (or start) to your collection, you will want to share the experience with friends and family.
What's great about it: Exceptional audio and Video Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Product!

• After reading many reviews from BB and other resources, I was confused why so called audiophiles tend to stray and/or have negative comments about DT speakers. I am no audiophile, but I love great sounding audio from movies and music. That said, I bought the Pro 1000 without hearing it first and connected it to my 5.1 system and was very impressed with what I heard. This speaker replaced and infinity (good speaker) and the audio quality improvement was immediately noticeable even before calibration.
• The center channel information is very precise without being overbearing. In fact, this speaker blends very well with the rest of the speakers. I had been satisfied previously with the center channel being autonomous, but now I really like the improved sound stage and how I feel more surrounded (in a very good way) by the audio. I have become very accustomed to my original speakers over time, but I am now strongly considering a 100% DT speaker system. In a word, Bravo!
What's great about it: Sound Quality, Footprint, Aesthetics
What's not so great: Need to buy more DT Speakers
I would recommend this to a friend!

HD Tv cable connections

I bought a HD big screen tv. With my cable company, do i HAVE to be connected to HD cable or can it just connected to NON HD?
Your HD big screen does not have to be connected to any service provider to receive basic (local) television signals. All that you need is an basic antenna connection and you would be able to receive local HD broadcast, "free" without cable subscription

Recording from Satalite and Cable.

We would like to buy the Samsung DVD-VR375A DVD-VHS Combo recorder. We are on satalite and also have the basic cable package for local channels. Can we record DVD and VHS tapes from the satalite and regular cable channels? We have a Samsung TV with HDMI cable.
All cable (and sattellite) providers equipment have an "out to TV" run the Out to Tv to the recoder's input and viola! You should be able to record.

I am looking for a DVD player and recorder that will not break the bank

There are many BR Players in the sub $150.00 price range with some limitation on features such as internet capability, etc. Best Buy is a good resource for price comparison.

How do I fix and audio/video synch problem?

I recently purchased a mitsubishi 52 in HD tv but when I play dvd's the audio is off and it quite annoying. Does this have to do with upconverting? i dont think my dvd player does that.
I have seen many people complain about this annoying problem. I have never experience this, but, I like to think that I have properly safeguarded myself from it by using only HDMI cables that support the newest technologies (HDMI 1.3 and 1.4). Additionally, each of my components have settings to adjust for such an occurrence. fortunately, I have not experienced the problem.

good luck.

Can all DVD and BluRay players also play CD's?

Depends on what you mean by "standard" dvd's. Generally, Blu-Ray players are "backwards compatible" to standard dvd and standard music cd's. Certain players offer a wider array of formats that they are compatible with. read the specification and/or take along disc samples to demo.

what the deffance in HD dvd compaired to blu-ray dvd

The proper answer really depends on your very general question; the best answer is: HD DVD is dead and Blu-Ray has become the standard for high definition dvd viewing. That said, HD-DVD had a smaller storage capicity 15 to 30 gb and was an very close relative to the standard DVD versus today's Blu Ray which can store up to 50 gb and uses a variation of technologies to produce the HD product.

Are any Blu-Ray players multi-region?

I am an American living in the UK. Because I have a huge collection of US (Region 1) DVDs, as well as a new collection of Region 2 discs, I'm curious if any players can read all regions?
