Originally released in 2007 and winner of multiple Game of the Year awards, BioShock is a "genetically enhanced" first-person shooter set in Rapture, a decaying art deco underwater utopia torn apart by civil war. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically modified "splicers" and deadly security systems, players have to come to grips with a deadly, mysterious world filled with powerful technology, fascinating characters and morality defining choices. To make it to the end, players can turn everything they encounter into a weapon, biologically modify their body with Plasmids, hack devices and security systems, upgrade weapons, craft new ammo variants, and experiment with different battle techniques. No encounter ever plays out the same and no two gamers will play BioShock the same way.Originally released in 2010, BioShock 2 features an unsettling storyline, dazzling visual design and the evolution of the genetically enhanced shooter gameplay. Set almost a decade after a grueling civil war consumed the once magnificent city of Rapture, evil reverberates through the halls and a wickedness once thought gone forever returns along the Atlantic seaboard. An unspeakable series of kidnappings from local seaside communities by an unseen monster leads to the repopulation of Little Sisters in Rapture's failed utopia under the ocean. Players must step into the boots of one of gaming's most iconic characters, the Big Daddy, as they traverse the fallen city, fending off attacks from an army of genetically modified Splicers, while searching for escape and the key to their survival.

BioShock and its sequel, BioShock 2 are two of the finest offerings into the FPS this past generation was fortunate enough to have.
In addition to engaging and thoughtful storytelling, the two titles feature very fun gameplay that is easy to pick up and play but difficult to master. Throw in some of great HD visuals and sound, and you have a great overall package for a very low price.

Let's get something out of the way from the jump--- "The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct" is an awful game, and an insult to the critically acclaimed franchise.
However, this offering from Telltale games is AMAZING. Gameplay-wise it utilizes a very simple point + click engine which makes it very easy for new players to get accustomed to and also is a nice throwback for veteran gamers. The storytelling is superb and rivals both the TV shows and many other movies. Graphics are beautiful.
If you like the comic book and/or TV show, do yourself a favor and play this game.

A fine genre installment...

When it comes to films, South Korea is infamous for its brutal revenge thrillers. From the classics such as the iconic OLDBOY (2003) of The Vengeance Trilogy and A Bittersweet Life (2005) to more recent offerings including The Man from Nowhere (2010) and I Saw the Devil (2010), when it comes to righting a wrong through violent means, these films define the genre.
Released in 2012, A Company Man follows the trend and tells the gritty tale of a rogue hitman who must battle against his own former employers....who just so happen to be a large corporation specializing in professional murder. It's a fun though cliched plot which is wraps up nicely by the end of the film, but doesn't offer anything really new to the genre. However, what A Company Man lacks in originality it makes up for with slick choreography.
The picture/audio quality of this release is very good and on-par with other WellGo USA distributed films. Worth a watch if you're a fan of revenge flicks.

A relentless, brutal throwback

Following their collaboration on "Ninja" (2009), Director Isaac Florentine and leading man Scott Adkins team up once again to bring martial arts film fans "NINJA 2: Shadow of a Tear". While the first film was pretty underwhelming and not very memorable, this sequel picks up the slack considerably.
Let's get one thing clear-- the plot is full of cliches and the acting leads a lot to be desired. However, Scott Adkins is phenomenal as Casey Bowman and delivers a thrilling performance throughout. There are fight scenes every few minutes, and the violent confrontations vary from one another with creative choreography and and camera work.
If you like martial arts films, CHECK THIS OUT!

A great introduction to Cirque Du Soleil
on May 16, 2013

Cirque Du Soleil: World's Away is essentially a sampler featuring some of the best the Canadian entertainment company has to offer. With how much buzz Cirque has gotten in the past few years, releasing this film now is a good way to introduce new fans to what they are all about and what to expect from a live show.
Yes, there is a story here, but it is a very loose one at that without any real dialogue. The plot is simple: Guy and girl get separated, and travel through various "Worlds" of Cirque Du Soleil to find one another. There isn't much to it, and it just serves as a way to introduce the different sets.
The 3D is pretty decent here, and the audio/video is great. The acrobatic stunts are breathtaking as well, but overall this serves as an advertisement to go see one of their live touring shows.

Victims...aren't we all

The Crow (994) is in my humble opinion, one of the best and most underrated comic book to film adaptions of all time. It is also best served to be considered a stand-alone film, with all future sequels and spinoffs ignored.
Releasing during a time when superhero movies were bright, clean and made with a kid-friendly approach in mind, The Crow instead channeled Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film and took it to the next level in terms of intensity and darkness. The whole film has a gritty feel to it that was sorely missing from similar films at the time, and not really touched on again until Blade four years later.
The audio and visual quality are both great, as the film transitioned to HD Blu-Ray very well.
What's great about it: Excellent pacing, great performances and a solid story.
What's not so great: Brandon Lee died during the making of this film.

The beginning of the end.....

"Are you.....a serial killer?"
The seventh season of Dexter marks the beginning of the end for our beloved serial killing, blood spatter analyzing protagonist, and sets the pieces in place for an explosive final season.
This season has some pretty inventive kills and ends with a bang (pun intended) that raises some questions, finds some answers and leaves us wanting more.
Audio and video quality on this release are very good, and the show itself has a very high level of polish and great production values.

Dexter (Michael C. Hall) struggles to balance his desire to kill with his new duties as a family man and father in the fourth season of Showtime's hit series. Meanwhile, he becomes increasingly fascinated with a new serial killer in town (John Lithgow) known as "Trinity", in hopes of coming to a better understanding of his own deadly issues.

A landmark season in the series
on May 16, 2013

The fourth season of Showtime's hit series Dexter is not only one of the best seasons in the series, but in my humble opinion one of the best seasons of any show on the entire network.
I will not divulge too much into the plot details so anyone who hasn't seen it doesn't have it spoiled for them. So, here are some basics:
- Season guest star John Lithgow shines in one of the best performances of his entire career.
- The main and supporting cast all deliver solid performances throughout, and all the characters all have more direction than in the past (and future, in some instances).
- The overall production quality of the show and this Blu-Ray release are top notch, as is expected from a Showtime Original Series.
I would not recommend starting off watching Dexter with season four, as you will appreciate the characters and plot much more if you have a solid understanding of the universe everything takes place in. However, if you fell off a bit after a lackluster season three, prepare to have your mind blown.
What's great about it: A "back to basics" approach to character and story development.

An action-packed comic adaption that hits the mark
on April 30, 2013

Following the unintentionally hilarious release of "Judge Dredd" in 1995 starring Sly Stallone, the hope of any future films centered around the no holds barred Judge, Jury and Executioner brought to life by John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra seemed pretty grim.
However, in 2012, DREDD 3D was released to little fanfare in the states, and while not a box office smash, it offered one of the most loyal comic to film adaptions to date with great action sequences, a solid story and redemption for the 1995 disasterpiece.
Some fans have pointed out plot similarities between DREDD 3D and Gareth Evans' fantastic "The Raid: Redemption". While the two share the same basic premise (which isn't all that unique to begin with), the execution of both are different and give each film their own identity and feel.
This 3D/2D Blu-Ray offers very crisp audio and visuals, though the extras and bonus features are a bit lacking. Still, it is a fantastic offering for hardcore Dredd fans and casual action flick viewers alike. The characters, presentation and ambiance in the film stay fiercely loyal to the source material without ever straying too far from mainstream accessibility.

More of the same, but that's not a bad thing...

With God of War: Ascension, the talented development crew at Sony Santa Monica attempts to delve deeper into the past of Kratos, the polarizing series protagonist who fans love, hate or love to hate. The end result is largely more of the same, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Like death and taxes being unavoidable certainties in life, there are some guarantees that come with every installment of God of War. The overall polish and attention-to-detail in this game is second to none, and the visuals continue to push the aging PS3 to its limits. As with previous installments in the series, playing through the campaign is a fairly linear experience which focuses on larger-than-life set-piece moments and dramatic boss battles over emphasis on exploration or free roam. Due to this, I honestly did not find that much replay value in the story mode once I completed it, but it is always fun to go back and replay some of the more memorable parts of the campaign, in addition to finding the hidden collectibles scattered throughout the levels. There is thankfully a chapter select this time around, which makes picking and choosing which sections to play very convenient.
The controlled frenzy which makes up Kratos' offense is back once again, and there are various gameplay tweaks and additions this time around which provide some new tips and tricks to learn while retaining that classic God of War feel. The organic, fluid combat system is the result of over eight years of fine-tuning, and the near decade of work put into crafting this engine really shows. Racking up brutal combinations and decapitating all manner of grotesque beasts while a bass-heavy soundtrack booms in the background and top-notch audio highlights every single slice, stab and tear Kratos dishes out in his path of rage makes playing this game a very visceral, graphic experience, which is what fans of this series not only want, but demand.
I found the story to be a bit lacking at points, but to be honest the story and background of the characters has never been a huge selling point of the game for me, so I still give the effort a solid A-/B+.
New to the series this time around is also an online multiplayer component, where players can compete with and against one another. I was never really sold on the concept of a multiplayer God of War game and this new mode didn't do too much to change my opinion, but there does seem to be an enthusiastic and devoted community as of April 2013, a little over a month past release.
What's great about it: Top-notch audio and visual quality, grand scale.
