More for teeth maintenance than actual whitening
on May 16, 2023
Posted by: MacUser
I have tried all kinds of tooth whitening products since they 1st came out but never could continue them due to extreme sensitivity. This one is no different. I've had same sensitivity with this product as well. What caught my attention first with this kit was the Whitening scale included. It starts out with a majority of brown colors with only 4 of 16 shades in the remotely white color. Most people concerned with how white their teeth are do not have such bad teeth to begin with in shades 8 to 16.
Like most people concerned about how white their teeth are enough to buy such devices as this, my teeth fall somewhere between an off-white/dull whitish color with a few coffee stains between my teeth, and a few shades too many short of bright white.
I used it and my teeth did get a 'little more' whiter, but not much. The coffee stains between my teeth are still there, but I did see 'some' whitening. I believe there should have been more whitening gel per use to fully cover teeth as they are pre-measured inside the dispenser.
To be fair, the results are the same as various whitening strips I've tried before but without the mess. The nice thing about this product is that it is simple to use, the taste is little weird but isn't very bad and it's much easier, takes less time and is less messy to use than whitening strips. I'm not sure if the blue light really does anything or if it's just a gimmick. I did go in with higher hopes as I was not satisfied with whitening strips.
Bottom line, use in place of whitening strips. If your teeth are really as bad as shades 8 to 16, see a dentist first. It is easy to use and is not messy. The dispensers can be cleaned and are useful in the work shop. As far as it making a difference, it isn't not any better than standard whitening strips, at least for me.

Words can't espresso what this machine beans to me
on April 22, 2023
Posted by: MacUser
I'm not a habitual coffee drinker. I wouldn't know a good cup from a great cup. It's all pretty much the same to me, but I do like flavored lattes and such from places like Starbucks but that's an expensive habit. I decided to look into making my own drinks at home and started exploring the world of espresso machines. My first instinct was to buy a beginner level manual machine. After a deep dive into couple machines, it was apparent to me that there was no way this was going to work for me. Everything I read said you needed to grind your own beans if you wanted to make a good espresso. The cheap machines did not come with a built in grinder and the grinders actually cost more than the cheap machines. Machines with a grinder still came with the burden of learning how to tamp the espresso and using the milk frother. I really didn't want to go through the ordeal of learning all this on a trial and error basis. An automatic machine was where I needed to focus my attention.
When I saw this Philips espresso maker, I knew I had to have it because I wanted to save money by brewing my own at home & I was itching to learn something new. Set-up was easy and after doing the initial pump-priming, I was ready for my first espresso. After the recommended 1st couple of runs I was ready for my first espresso to drink.
It took a few tries to get the balance of grind level/coffee strength to where I wanted it (which was expected) but the pulls are pretty consistently where I want them now. My moment of fear was when I chocked it by making the grinds too fine while I had the strength up to max. I calmed down and figured this out after I looked at the troubleshooting to find what the angry little lights meant and dialed back the grind settings and all was fine. Lesson learned: Don't turn the grind setting knob too much at a time. Baby steps. My expectation is that if I change the type of beans I'm using I'll probably have to tweak it, but again that's expected.
Those few times when I want a latte or cappuccino the Latte Crema system is a nice alternative to the more time consuming manual process. I got that option mostly for my wife so she could easily make her own cappuccinos and that alone was worth the price of the option. Fat free milk seems to work best for a thicker foam. Higher fat seems to = bigger bubbles.
The water container is big but could have been larger. The rinsing cycles will help you go through a lot of water but I appreciate the rinsing to keep all the pipes clean. The LatteCrema system also does its own rinse cycle which will contribute to the water usage as well. But overall a very small issue and it's easy enough to refill it. Might be nice if they did an 'extended' tank that extends out from the side, but I doubt that we'll see that.
Time will tell on durability. I'm sure taking care of the machine correctly will be a factor in that. As in any automatic device, they're more complicated with many moving parts. Your typical coffee machine has a lot less break points and moving parts than an automated one. As a result it will be important to follow the maintenance directions to keep it running and in tip-top shape.
I'm very happy with the machine. I've been cleaning it regularly and it's pretty easy. Personally, I've found I like the medium espresso roasts with an Arabica/Robusta blend. So far we've been using Lavazza beans exclusively because the quality/freshness has been good as has the price point. The PHILIPS 1200-Series is the PERFECT espresso machine for a beginner like me. It is fully automatic, easy to use and the results are picturesque. I joke about how I’m now a barista. Highly recommend.

The best drone I've owned so far!
on April 6, 2023
Posted by: MacUser
This is a great entry level non-toy drone but there is a little bit of a learning curve needed to operate this device. I like that the equipment is very precise, and despite looking fragile, it is really very strong, you have to be careful if you are learning to fly it, because it can hit you hard, it connects very well, the photos and videos are great, good buy for it's price. Definitely charge the drone battery and controller battery to full before attempting to fly it. I was too eager to try mine out and when my drone battery was about to die, the drone uncontrollably shot up from 10ft to 60ft and nearly got caught in a tree when trying to emergency "low power" fly home. A great feature but be sure you learn to fly this thing in a big open field.
First, when you open the package, you’ll notice a great carrying case that fits everything, including the drone and the controller. The case is great. It's nice to have storage for everything all in one spot. The accessories are good too: USB charging cable, one 1500 mAh battery, extra propellers, screwdriver and screws. The controller has its own inbuilt battery and can be charged by directly plugging in the cable. This drone is very compact and only weighs about 249 grams, which means there's no need to register is with the FAA. Pictures and video are sent to the phone as well as being stored in a SD card I installed in the drone. Picture quality is generally good.
The flying is stable and precise, a little sluggish until you engage speed mode 2 where it's very fast and can get away from you. The GPS is a great feature, I've lost cheap drones on day one before as they flew out of range and off to who knows where.
The manual has very clear instructions and is formatted nicely. I've flown many cheap toy drones in the past and thought I could just figure this one out, but trust me, take the time to thumb through the manual to learn how to switch control modes, calibrate, and look closely at how the return home feature works, oh and how to land the thing.
I wanted a drone that won't break my heart if I destroyed it through incompetence in the first few flights, but that would still provide serviceable images out of the box. This seemed to fit the bill and, sure enough, I've crashed it pretty hard on each of the flights so far. In fact, I'm quite surprised that it has withstood my abuse without any real damage at all. That's a major plus. I've crashed it into my electrical service drop wire, palm trees, etc, and it has fallen to the ground from a height of 20' or so. I'm impressed. I live in an area where it's a bit difficult to find clear, open areas to practice and develop skills. Unless I lose it or break it, I hope to be flying it for a long time. I'm very pleased with this purchase and, even though I considered it an entry point to drone photography, I feel like this will meet my needs at least for the near future until I gain more skill and confidence. I think it's definitely worth the price and would recommend this drone.

Quality speaks for itself!

This is another item that I use everyday because it is effective. If you like tennis ball therapy you will like this. It seems like a heavy duty, well made product. Just like a golf, tennis or Lacrosse ball, this is targeted for those smaller, harder to reach areas. Not quite a firm as a golf ball, but more firm than a Lacrosse ball. If I had to assign a number in firmness, I would call it somewhere between an 8.5 - 9.5 on a scale of 10; FIRM. My biggest challenge is going to find a safe place that the suction cup will be happy with (mount to). Glass would be great, except for the part of crashing thru it as you put your weight on this. Depending on where (on your body) you are massaging, you will likely be moving your body in an up/down motion, so you get a little glute and quad workout as you're using this. They have included a nice, permanent snap on/snap off cover for the suction cup. That's important as you want that part to be as clean as possible. The enclosed guide instructs us to clean it with a soft damp cloth if it becomes dirty/dusty. The massage ball is the heaviest part of this device. This appears to be of quality materials and workmanship.
It removes from the base to enable you to actuate the suction cup. With it removed from the base, I used it holding it in my hands, sitting down, massaging my quads. Getting a massage takes some work on your part. You have to move your body up and down, or side to side (depending on how you have the massager mounted). But it worked well to target knots. You can lean on it to hold pressure in one spot then move up/down to roll over the knot. I like it the most when using it on my back and the back of my neck and shoulders. I initially used this on my upper back, and it gave me the chills, it works so well. Just mount it, and just do little mini squats to massage your back. You're in total control, you can go as easy, or aggressive as you want to. Want to work another part of your back, just lower the roller and you're good to go. It really is that easy!
It does seem priced a bit high for what it is, but is also comparable to other suction mounted massage devices. I'd recommend if you're looking to upgrade from something like a foam roller - and the price isn't too off-putting to you. If you can afford this roller, you need to get it. It's done wonders for me. Give it a try for yourself!

My first EV charging station, and it's awesome!
on December 2, 2022
Posted by: MacUser
Got this for my Mustang Mach-E. I'm new to the EV world, this is my first level 2 charging station, and I couldn't be happier with it! It charges the car quickly, has an easy cable management solution, the plug clips into the charger nicely and the setup and app usage has been simple as can be. I really like being able to see all the data that is saved within the app in regards to amount of power used, amperage, etc. Ours is very close to our WiFi router so we have had no issues with signal strength. Also, the cable is plenty long to reach the car even if we park it outside. The app is fairly easy to use and pretty intuitive. It is fully compatible with my car, and charges it quickly enough that I can fully charge the car overnight.
The one question that kept me (and I'd bet many, many other potential EV owners) from pulling the trigger and buying an EV is ,"what about the hassle of charging all the time?" Well...put one of these in your garage and never think about it again...really...it's that simple. Great...reliable...trouble-free, product. This works exactly as designed. My Mach-E came with its own Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). However, I wanted to keep it in my vehicle as a spare or to use in an emergency when traveling or visiting family away from home. So after researching EVSEs, I decided this one offered good value for the money. Electrician installed it with no issues. App installed with no issues, charger has worked flawlessly for almost 3 weeks. Does what it should do and easy to use. According to the app, charge is always consistent with zero drop off.
All utility companies prefer certain Level 2 chargers because of their wifi capabilities. That means that you'll need to have wifi coverage in your garage if installed there. The reason is so the utility company can slow down charging speeds on 'blackout' dates or on really hot or cold days, when daily usage is in high demand. You get an additional discount though.
SUMMARY: This is an outstanding charger starting with the quality of the build, ease of installation, very fast charge and the benefit of WIFI & Bluetooth and the app which reminds you to charge your vehicle, the status of the charge and the completion as well as the ability to schedule the start time to coincide with hours where electric demand is lower and therefore there is a cost benefit. It appears to be durable and well built. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied.

In love with this Google Chromecast
on October 10, 2022
Posted by: MacUser
The Google Chromecast is something that you need it even if you think you don't need it, more so because it costs only $30. This product is of the highest quality, is attractive, and easy to set up and use. It brings a large number of apps, everything that comes with free programs is very modern. Very easy to use and you don't need a new smart tv as this tops it. The third-generation Google Chromecast is better and is more complete since it includes a remote control and displays a home screen with all your apps on your TV. The remote control is easy to operate and with it, you can turn your television on and off, as well as control the volume. The remote control allows you to go directly to Netflix or YouTube with the press of a button. It also has voice commands. Performance-wise it’s about the same as the Google TV 4k edition they released last year but costs a lot less. Google limits the video output on the HD model to 1080p only but it otherwise retains all of the features of the more expensive version including its support of Atmos surround sound.
I have a Visio TV, but the system is very limited, thanks to this Chromecast, I have been able to take advantage of it. The quality is super good, the control responds even faster than the TV, I can install any android app on it. HBO is an app that I couldn't use on the Visio system since it stopped responding, but with Chromecast, it runs smoothly and without any problem. Sometimes we have to click the connect button twice to get it to work, but otherwise it's been very good. Ever since I've been using the Google TV apps instead of my TV's built-in apps for Hulu and prime video, and I noticed something: when I watch TV shows on my Visio apps, I have to keep turning the volume up to hear the dialogue, but then turn it down again when the background music and sound effects get loud to keep from waking up my kids. But when I watch on my Google TV apps, I don't have to do that. I don't know if it has some kind of leveling or compression software built in, but I don't have to keep riding the volume button. The remote itself is slippery and hard to hold on to. Do yourself a favor and get one of the cheap silicone covers to help.
Also, there is an ambient mode that allows me to use my Google photos as a screensaver. It gave me the option to choose photos by names of people in them, or by albums, or my favorites, so now when we're not watching a show, we can have pictures of my kids scrolling on the screen, which has been a lot of fun to watch.
Overall, I give the Chromecast with Google TV top marks and would highly recommend it.

Perfect Price to Performance Ratio
on September 15, 2022

SanDisk USB 3.2 Flash Drives are still my go-to for portable storage and for using as Linux live boot sticks. They have proven to be the most reliable, long-lasting drives for my needs. They will typically maintain their read and write speeds better than their competition. Even if they have an occasional hiccup with re-formatting, we can usually use a couple of Linux tricks to refresh the drive and get it back to normal. I needed the extra drives for distros and to use as substitute shared folders for my VMs to speed up the ricing process. My budget SanDisk USB 2.0 drives are, unfortunately, annoyingly slow, even for the small amount of content they have. I’m never going to be a fan of the slot on the end for using a key ring or carabiner to hook on to a belt loop, say, since you could easily bump up against a wall and snap the drive off, potentially without even knowing it. For home use, I keep mine in old pill bottles or vitamin bottles (washed, of course). How do I know what is on them? A 3x5-inch spiral bound memo book does the trick for me. They do get a surprising amount of use as live boot sticks, as I like to see how various distros behave on my aging laptop’s hardware. When done, I just write another image on the drive, then update the note paper. They have the performance I need, and the price is right for me. Highly recommended if your needs are Linux-related, or you just need reliable, portable storage. Definitely worth the 5 Stars.

Lived up to expectations.

I'm a Mechanical engineer who's been working from home since past more than two years, so I'm comfortable with tech. I had to replace my old Norton wifi router because Norton stopped supporting their hardware (in my case, the router) and it went dead by April of this year. I decided to give TP link a try because they are one of the renowned companies out there. While the TP-Link AX3000 is by no means a low-cost solution, it's worth every penny spent on it per my own experience by now. Set up can’t be easier, almost take me less than 5min to connect to the Internet. It does provide a much stronger signal throughout my 2-store house. Amazing performance, fast Wi-Fi 6 and 5 as well, great range, doesn't need constant reboots, basically "just works". Lots of configuration possibilities in the web interface and easy to work with. Design is pretty slick. thinner/smaller than I expected. Antennas swivel with a little effort, but stay put when you're finished moving them. It can be attached to the wall with two screws (not included). The holes on the back of the device are roughly 8 1/2 inches apart. It also has an option to turn the LED's off at certain times
I have Cox. I used to have 500 mbps internet. Before this router, I was getting speeds around 200 mbps on wifi. I always complained to cox about my reduced speed and they asked me to change my router to see if that makes any difference. I've noticed a a big improvement in speed ever since I switched to this router. Now I'm getting speeds more than 500 mbps. I plugged in my 512 GB photo archive thumb drive to the router. I was getting consistent 30 mbps transfer from desktop to thumb drive. Pretty happy with that, as its about as fast as I get when its plugged into my desktop.
Pros:
1) Elegant design, almost the most beautiful 4 antenna router I have ever seen.
2) Setup is breeze - set it up in less than 5 mins, just need to follow the app step by step.
3) Performance is spectacular out of the box – All my rooms have very decent speed, even in my kid room which previously I have to add a range extender when using Norton router.
4) Haven't had any wi-fi drops so far.
5) Can handle all my smart plugs and bulbs without any issue.
7) No buffering or stuttering when streaming and gaming.
8) No dead spots in my home and it also covers my garage with decent range. I can stream Netflix in my garage with no streaming issue whatsoever.
9) Last but not the least, it can create a single SSID which can handle both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz devices. It helps the router to automatically switch each device's connection to the best available Wifi band.
Cons:
1) Maybe a little expensive, but it's worth for the wi-fi 6 router, the new OFDMA technology.
2) You will need AX clients to really take advantage of this product. In my opinion, AX should be the next big thing in Wi-Fi.
Overall, I am very happy with the performance of this router. If you have a household with lots of wireless or wired devices like me, this router is a good choice.

Have a 2S? You will love this upgrade!
on June 17, 2022
Posted by: MacUser
Logitech doesn't need any introduction and I have been an avid user of Logitech computer accessories for as long as I can remember. I have been working as a Mechanical Design Engineer for more than 10 years now and Logitech is the only brand that I use for my mouse. I spend 90% of my time at job using mouse to 3D design stuff on software such as Creo, NX and SolidWorks. I cannot even imagine using any other brand mouse. I started with G602 that had 9 programmable buttons and anyone with even a little design experience can understand how much of a life saver that mouse is. Unfortunately, that started giving some issues after more than 5 years of service and I replaced it with MX Master 2S and OMG, that was a game a changer too. I agree, it didn't have as much programmable buttons but I still was able to make full use of few that are provided.
The MX Master 2S was a fantastic mouse, but I had two complaints about it: 1) It used Micro USB instead of Type C and 2) the thumb wheel and navigation buttons were hard to use. The MX Master 3S fixes both those problems. The thumb wheel now has a very high quality feel to it and is very easy to spin around, and they've moved the navigation buttons lower down to make them easier to press with your thumb. The main scroll wheel has also been made quieter, and somehow even more fun to use. As before, this mouse works on pretty much all surfaces, can connect to 3 devices, and can connect by either bluetooth or a USB dongle. I've had no issues using it on both a Mac and PC. Logitech claims a battery life of 70 days, and while I obviously haven't been able to test that out yet, if the MX Master 2S is anything to go by, you can expect great battery life on this mouse too. The 3S has significantly better placement for my average sized hands. On the 2S, it required pulling my thumb so far back, that it initially felt like my thumb was going to dislocate. On the 3S that isn’t a problem.
The vertical scroll wheel is great. Feels much better than the scroll wheel on the 2S, but it may take some fiddling with the Logitech Options program to get it to automatically switch to free scrolling based on your desired speed. The default setting switches it too easily, and the jump from ratcheted scrolling to free scrolling speed is significant. You might find yourself wanting to just scroll a few lines faster, and then suddenly you’re all the way at the bottom of a webpage.
It's a big upgrade from Master 2S. However, if you own a Master 3, getting a 3S would not be much of an upgrade for you. The only difference between the two are that 3S has a 8000 DPI sensor where as 3 has 4000 DPI sensor. The other difference is that Logitech claims that 3S has 90% quieter clicking than 3.
There is no question the placement of the back and forward buttons has been improved as well as the horizontal scrolling wheel as compared to 2S. The tracking also seems more precise. The gesture button is also vastly improved and now has an actual physical button. This mouse unequivocally earns a high five stars rating from me, along with my honest and very hearty recommendation. You will never see a mouse more ergonomic and comfortable to use than this one!

The best light ever!!! We received it couple of days ago and decided to use it for a few days before we can use it. It has a very modern, premium look that goes well with Apple devices. It's not bright enough to light up a room, but it works for what I want it for. We use it mostly as bedside light and then as night lamp in my kids bedroom. Packaging was great, it came nicely packaged and has two things, the power cord and the lamp. The lamp is in a glass shell which seems pretty well built. Installation was pretty straightforward. This is my first Govee product, so I did not have the app which I downloaded. You then open the app, it shows up as a new discovered light, follow the prompts and then it gets added there too. ( This is required for Google and Alexa compatibility). There are 5 buttons on top face of the lamp: 1 power button (turns on/off), two buttons to increase/decrease brightness (remembers the last color/brightness),1 button to switch to music mode and 1 button to switch between modes (see pics). It provides a natural light and I can change the color via the app or Amazon Alexa or Google home or if you don't want to use any of the above, you can just use the buttons. I've only linked it up with google home and so far had no issue while using it with voice command.
Pros:
1. The lamp is very easy to use.
2. There are infinite light combinations.
3. You can turn on the lamp in any color in the morning and in the night (low brightness in the night, high brightness in the morning, different colors)
4. The Govee app is as easy as it can get. It's pretty good for putting any color you want, its just works flawlessly, the ability to change the white light is pretty nice too. It's pretty bright too.
Cons: I can’t think of any at this point, I have used the product for a few days, if there are any issues I will revisit and update the review.
This lamp has become a big hit and we are planning to buy more for other bedrooms! It's a great product and works very well! I am very pleased with this. I would highly recommend it to others.
I would recommend this to a friend!

You step into the arena with your muscles gleaming in the light. Your opponent is trying to intimidate you with flips, splits, air punches and more, but you're not scared. The countdown ends and the battle starts. Within moments, a flurry of punches, kicks, special moves, roundhouses and more come at you — but you did your homework and are prepared. Just as a right hook lands and a leg sweep begins to take shape, you spot your chance. You jump to avoid the sweep and land a swift jab, sending your opponent back. As he staggers, you continue to duck, punch, kick and more. Just as he seems ready to counter your combo, you place a perfectly timed uppercut under his chin — sending him head over heels to the ground. With updated visuals, over-the-top action, adrenaline-pumping music and new Combo Breakers, the legendary fighting game franchise is back with Killer Instinct: Combo Breaker Pack. Select your fighter from a wild cast of combatants and step into the arena to battle it out in thrilling, heart-racing conflicts. Enjoy the fluid animations, distinctive tactics and flashy special attacks that are unique to each fighter. Arm yourself with the open-ended combo system to build huge combos as you battle your enemy, but beware — he or she will look for openings to break your string and turn the tides of battle. Featuring all eight fighters from Season 1, plus a bonus fighter from Season 2 via the included download code, you'll have plenty of combatants with which to head into battle. Are you ready for an all-new Killer Instinct experience?

It says it comes with all the season 1 characters

My kids like the game so I purchased it for them... box says it comes with all season one characters... They only have access to one dude... either something is wrong or it's harder than it needs to be to figure out.

Install them manually!

It does come with all Season 1 characters. A lot of people have had this problem of not getting them all. Luckily I didn't. You can manually install the characters if your console didn't do it for you. Once the disc is inside the console, go the box where a "white" disc is displayed. This box shows the disc currently inside the console. Hit the menu button and then go to "manage bundle" option. You can then install all Season 1 characters from there on. Hopefully this will solve your issue. I'm still surprised how it installed automatically for me!

What is it?

I have no idea what this product is. They placed it by registers and my 4 year old saw it and wanted it. Thanks best buy for putting useless toys by the register.

There's a reason why they keep them there and fortunately for them, you were the victim. Great review though. Made me laugh :)
