Cordless is the way to go

Got this cordless pet vacuum for my mother’s house.
Family room, kitchen and laundry room all have Pergo flooring.
There’s some food debris underneath the kitchen table that needs sucking up from time to time. Also my mother is shedding a lot of her hair.
This cordless vac is a godsend.
No more cords to hassle with. And it’s much easier to vacuum the carpets on the stairs.
Find it easy to clean up underneath beds too.
Title floors in bathroom look much cleaner now.
I even took it into the garage to tidy up there.

Takes a little getting used to

I am coming from a Sonicare Essence electric toothbrush.
Must admit I had some apprehension about using an app with the new Sonicare Diamond Clean Smart Rechargeable toothbrush.
Have installed app on a Nexus 6 so no issues seeing what I’m doing. Also using the app on a 10.1” Acer Iconia One Android tablet, with stand case.
Takes some time to get used to relying on the app, instead of guessing whether or not I’m doing a good job. Toothbrush does give me a tickling sensation too.
Visual feedback is preferred tho. Think of it as a diagnostic tool.
Nice they it can be used worldwide and comes with it’s own carrying case.
So if U can get used to brushing UR teeth this way, U will feel U are doing a better job.

Let me just say first I haven’t been on Windows since Win XP Home/Pro.
When on Win XP Home, my tower slowed down to a crawl. Friend told me he does a clean install every six months. Helped me once to do it. I don’t ever want to do this again on any Windows system except for maybe the new Windows 10 S.
This mid range tower has a built in feature that’s suppose to speed boot time.
I will say I have worked at many places with desktop PC’s running Windows that have provided many years of trouble free service. They have very little software installed. Some aren’t even turned off at night.
Lots of horsepower here. Many USB ports including the latest 3.1 Type C. I don’t have adapters to use Type C and probably don’t need one as I live my life in the cloud (no large file transfers).
Nice to have a cd/dvd player installed. Have a few old cd/dvds lying around.
Wireless AC here if U need it to cast content to a Chromecast. Bluetooth is a good option for my BT speakers.
More RAM than I need and plenty of local storage although I might want to install a SSD IF I need to speed up boot time, after using this machine, for a while.
The corded keyboard is lousy. Mouse OK but a USB wireless model from Logitech is better.
Believe I can install Linux on this machine. Good option to have some day.
I know the world likes laptops but I still like a full size keyboard, mouse, webcam, speakers and monitor to be productive. Also have two Chromebooks for portability and use in living room.
If UR like me, this system makes sense and I recommend it for some folks.

Enjoy a variety of entertainment with this LG mini hi-fi system. Its Bluetooth function lets you stream audio from digital devices, and you can also play music from cassettes, FM radio and CDs. This LG mini hi-fi system has a USB port to read flash drive files and includes a remote control for convenience.

I was skeptical at first when I found this book shelf mini Hi-Fi system.
Set it up in the living room of my one bedroom condo. Have high vaulted ceiling there.
Sound quality similar to the standard, factory installed, 6 speaker stereo system, in a 2005 Toyota Prius.
Bass effect could be a bit better tho.
Have some CD’s and even audio cassettes from several years back. All played fine. System couldn’t detect my old, iPod Touch 4th Gen. I was able to play a MP3 from a USB 2.0 flash drive tho.
I used to listen to FM radio a lot. Selection of stations not too good where I live. But I can get the same content I listen to, when I’m driving.
Wish the two speakers didn’t have to use wires.
Speaker and main console fit under my TV stand. Other speaker went into my old stereo system cabinet.
Nowadays I like to stream free, Google Play Music radio stations, so can make greater daily use of this system. Pandora was also fine.
If U find this system on sale @ Best Buy for $149.99 with free shipping, U are doing pretty good IMHO.
This is a Gr8, compact sized, Hi-Fi system, for those who don’t have a lot of room to work with.
And the price won’t break the bank.

I am currently a Logitech customer. Been using a M185 USB wireless mouse, C525 webcam and K480 Multi-Device Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for several years.
So there is confidence and experience in the brand.
Setup was easy with a Nexus 6 Android phone. Also installed the Circle app on an Acer R11 Chromebook (Android ready) and pinned app to the shelf for easier/faster access to it.
Firmware was updated after connecting to my Wi-Fi network so no worry about updates in the future. Also, the app was updated today.
Someday I might mount it outdoors. There are other options such as wall outlet plug and rechargeable battery so it can be placed anywhere inside if I want to buy another camera.
Did have to order the optional window mount to see outdoors. It’s needed to reduce glare and unwanted reflections. Well worth the $39.99 (not including sales tax) I paid for it.
Suspect outdoor installation might be the best way to go tho.
On free subscription now but person detection feature with the 30 day plan looks enticing.
Smart Alert is a Gr8 feature. Very convenient.
Check out the various accessories to expand the capabilities of the device.

Attach the Window Mount to Circle 2 Camera and place it on any window pane to see outdoors. Watch over the front porch and driveway or overlook the backyard from indoors.

Couldn't find any info from the OEM about why it does what it does. Maybe they think mounting the camera outside is better ?
Think I read something on a blog post about reduced glare & reflections and that's why I purchased it.
Please see a photo from the box it came in, to read the most important feature for improved night vision.

This is my first Roomba. Must say it's loads of fun. Did a good job cleaning the carpet in my 724 sf one bedroom condo. I say this b/c I had to clean the dust out of the bin after using it only one time. Best to use the mobile app as U can program it to clean on certain days. Also it's easier to tell the Roomba to end the job and head back to the charging base. Roomba took almost 25 minutes to clean my carpets which seemed like a long time. And I cleared away a lot of furniture and stuff on the floor before operating it. Don't think it cleaned very well underneath my bed. Maybe it will as time goes by. Also it was a bit noisy but not much more than my upright Hoover SAVVY. At this point I need more experience with it and will not let it loose if I'm not home.

Just brewed my first cup of coffee. Have some Kirkland (Costco) Columbian ground coffee on hand. Set machine to CLASSIC BREW b/c this was my first try. Ended up pouring some almond milk into the cup as it turned out a bit strong for my tastes. Will cut back to a little over two scoops of coffee next time. Not much into ice coffee but I might try it when the weather is hot. Not interested in syrups, extracts, whipped cream or cinnamon, etc. so will leave that for guests. Machine didn't take up that much space in my condo kitchen which was a mild surprise. Looking forward to saving $ by brewing @ home. AND no K-Cups to buy. Problem with those is that U have to stock different brands, depending on whether U like UR coffee black or need cream. Adjustable brewing FTW any day !!!

Review Summary sez it all.
Battery only took 35 minutes to charge up.
Tested Google Play Music and Spotify on it. All OK.
Then I received a mobile phone call on a an iPhone 7. Loud enough and clear enough on the headset. Adjusted sound volume from phone.
Love that U can use any earbuds that U want.
All in all, I would have to say this is a good product with no apparent issues so far.

Daughter opened today, Christmas morning, and this Acer R11 has same problem a few of the others have had according to reviews..., repeatedly turns off and on. Just my luck. Talk about a disappointed daughter! Geez. I'm a little upset to say the least. I hope exchange goes smoothly tomorrow, if there is another in stock that is.

I have owned two Chromebooks prior to the R11. I am familiar with the Chrome OS ecosystem, what it has to offer, and where it falls short.

BUILD QUALITY (3/5):
The build quality of the R11 is average, at best. It has a patterned aluminum cover/lid, but it doesn’t make the device feel any bit premium, and I wouldn’t count on it providing any additional protection to the display. The unit I received has misaligned hinges, which causes the device to rock a bit at certain angles—in addition to being an eyesore. That being said, I don’t feel as though it will cause any harm to the device in the long-term.

I had no issues with flipping the display 180 degrees. Typing on the keyboard was fine, but I personally felt as though the keys could have had less resistance or bit more vertical displacement. I had to press harder on these compared to other keyboards I’ve tried on Chromebooks around this price range.

The 11.6” display runs at 1366x768—resulting in 135 ppi (pixels-per-inch). Comparatively, a 13.3” display at 1920x1080 results in 165 ppi. The R11 display is adequate at this resolution—text is sharp enough to avoid complaining, and viewing images and videos is enjoyable.

That is, unless you’re trying to use it in direct sunlight. This display is quite reflective, so you won’t be using this much in direct sunlight. With a bit of shade, you’ll be fine. Indoors, the display is adequate and provides adequate brightness. The display is also quite reflective and is also a smudgy fingerprint magnet, which is why indoor use in moderate lighting conditions is ideal.
As for the touch screen, it works quite well. If anything, Chrome OS needs more refinement and more features to really utilize the touchscreen. Multi-touch worked without issue. However, modern web content isn’t really suited to touch screens, so it’s definitely a bit awkward to have a touch screen, at the moment.
PERFORMANCE (2/5):
I really can’t give this Chromebook a 3 because there are older, cheaper Chromebooks that outperform this more expensive R11. The Intel Celeron N3050 is really a bottom-bin Intel Atom, more than it is a Celeron. These fanless processors (aside from the Core M series) don’t come close to the U-series Celerons. Sure, you’ll get more battery life, but what is that worth if it’s a pain to use the device?
I really can’t give this Chromebook a 3 because there are older, cheaper Chromebooks that outperform this more expensive R11. With my bookmarks, caching, history, extensions, etc. that is associated to my Google account, this Chromebook could not handle more than a few tabs without throwing a fit. When I used Guest mode, the Chromebook performed adequately with 4 tabs—to the point where scrolling was not abysmal.
That being said, I had much better performance on a 13.3” 1080p Chromebook using the Intel Celeron N2840 and 4GB of RAM—which was the same price as the R11. Even Acer’s own C720 outperforms the R11.
BATTERY LIFE (4/5):
The battery life on this Chromebook doesn’t quite stand up to some other contenders, but with light processor usage, it shouldn’t have any problem lasting throughout the day before needing a charge. However, the idle drain is not very good. For a fanless design, you would expect low power consumption when the device is idle, but you will want to turn the device when you aren’t using it for long periods of time—otherwise you will be saying goodbye to 10-20% of your battery.

Being my first Chromebook this was a brand new experience for me which made it fun to review.
Pros:
Lightweight - can use on lap without getting uncomfortable.
Good build quality - Case, hinges, keyboard felt sturdy and well built.
Pretty good battery life - not sure about the advertised 10 hours but I used in tent mode listening to music all day at work for several days (6-8 hours) and it had around 20% left.
Easy to setup - If you already have a Google account like I do all you have to do is sign in and it syncs everything up for you.
Lightweight - can use on lap without getting uncomfortable.
Good build quality - Case, hinges, keyboard felt sturdy and well built.
Pretty good battery life - not sure about the advertised 10 hours but I used in tent mode listening to music all day at work for several days (6-8 hours) and it had around 20% left.

This is a decent little 2-in-1 if you subscribe to the "cloud" OS always connected model. Great for internet surfing and light productivity work especially if you are all-in with the Google app Eco-system. Don't expect to be as productive as using a traditional laptop computer though, especially when disconnected. Also until the Play store and Android is fully integrated you might be disappointed in what apps are available.

Soundbar is really a soundbox because it's compact. Rich sound from such a small form factor.
Sub woofer not very loud but tech support said they could replace it.
Bluetooth and casting works fine. WiFi enabled but don't need it.

Mesh Wi-Fi router can cause interference

I had installed the soundbar next to a Linksys Velop Wi-Fi Mesh Router. On Pergo flooring with 9' high ceiling in a family room.
Caused all kinds of problems.
Then moved to approx. 12' away from a TP-Link wireless N router. Problems went away.
My set up is now in the living room of my condo. There is a 20' vaulted ceiling. Sound still quite amazing.
Most of the time I used the built in Chromecast feature. Have casted from a Nexus 6 phone and a Chromebox so far. Soundbar is connected to my TV with the OPT cord provided.
Had the remote replaced. Testing it now. Can say the soundbox recognizes it.
Price is on the lower end of the Polk Home Theater line. I highly recommend it. Will always some gear like it on any TV's purchased in the future.

It has a built in sub woofer so the bass was good. Maybe that's why it's so big
Connected my Nexus 6 to the USB port to charge it.
Connected an old iPod Touch 4th gen. and it worked too.
Battery took three hours to charge out of the box. Had to try several
times to insert the US power adapter but eventually it snapped into place.

This is my first Roomba. Must say it's loads of fun. Did a good job cleaning the carpet in my 724 sf one bedroom condo. I say this b/c I had to clean the dust out of the bin after using it only one time. Best to use the mobile app as U can program it to clean on certain days. Also it's easier to tell the Roomba to end the job and head back to the charging base. Roomba took almost 25 minutes to clean my carpets which seemed like a long time. And I cleared away a lot of furniture and stuff on the floor before operating it. Don't think it cleaned very well underneath my bed. Maybe it will as time goes by. Also it was a bit noisy but not much more than my upright Hoover SAVVY. At this point I need more experience with it and will not let it loose if I'm not home.

Needs time to learn about UR flooring

I ran my Roomba 890 for the third time this morning. It went straight for my bedroom bed and spent a lot of time underneath it. Must have some kind of dust sensing feature for carpeting. It did, however, spend waaay too much time in the living room. Carpets there are cleaner than other areas in my condo so don't understand the logic of it.
Will keep using it until I get it figured out.

Attach the Window Mount to Circle 2 Camera and place it on any window pane to see outdoors. Watch over the front porch and driveway or overlook the backyard from indoors.

I was skeptical at first when I found this book shelf mini Hi-Fi system.
Set it up in the living room of my one bedroom condo. Have high vaulted ceiling there.
Sound quality similar to the standard, factory installed, 6 speaker stereo system, in a 2005 Toyota Prius.
Bass effect could be a bit better tho.
Have some CD’s and even audio cassettes from several years back. All played fine. System couldn’t detect my old, iPod Touch 4th Gen. I was able to play a MP3 from a USB 2.0 flash drive tho.
I used to listen to FM radio a lot. Selection of stations not too good where I live. But I can get the same content I listen to, when I’m driving.
Wish the two speakers didn’t have to use wires.
Speaker and main console fit under my TV stand. Other speaker went into my old stereo system cabinet.
Nowadays I like to stream free, Google Play Music radio stations, so can make greater daily use of this system. Pandora was also fine.
If U find this system on sale @ Best Buy for $149.99 with free shipping, U are doing pretty good IMHO.
This is a Gr8, compact sized, Hi-Fi system, for those who don’t have a lot of room to work with.
And the price won’t break the bank.
