Good overall headphones.

I have been using the Bose QC35 since it's launch date and I was excited to try something new, especially from a maker that's known for it's audiophile fan base. The ATH-M50x are very comfortable to wear with great battery life. Great treble, good bass and comfortable padding. I did, however, did not enjoy the over the ear experience. I guess I have big ears because my ears were touching the headphone while having them on. Other than that, I would recommend theses at the price point. Thanks.

Sleek design, above average loudness (think commerical grade blenders at Jamba) and efficient blender is what I'll describe the Nutri Ninja. Having a all in one add, blend and ready to go 18 and 24 oz up is a nice feature too. I, now, have to make it a routine to prep my smoothies ahead of time to simply insert and blend. Thanks.

Mesh WiFi is the future!
on November 6, 2018
Posted by: drklbc

I was having issues with the combo WiFi router modem that was provided with FiOS. I tried two different WiFi extenders and would still experience poor WiFi performance. I finally caved in and made a last effort by giving this a try to solve something I have never experienced before... bad WiFi.
The initial setup is very easy through the Linksys App and the nodes beautifully designed. I turned off the WiFi in the modem and hard wired one of the nodes in the bedroom (where the modem was), a node in the dinning room and the last one in the garage. After the initial setup, the WiFi range was solid throughout my property and performance was MUCH IMPROVED. Speed test from all locations that I have tried was very consistent. I can say I no longer have a WiFi issue!
I am amazed at the whole mesh WiFi system and never would've thought I would need it since I was using high end routers before I had FiOS... I would recommend this basic version if you're just looking to have all around WiFi performance and range at your home. It solved my issues maybe it'll solve yours! Thanks.

My favorite headphone!

Considering that I have been using the Jaybird Run True Wireless since it's launch, I would say I should've looked into the Rowkin brand a bit sooner than later...
The Rowkin Ascent Charge is priced in between well known brands and I believe you get a lot for your money. A slick dual function charging case (with a sweet sliding mechanism) that has a USB-C port and Qi enabled. A Qi charging pad, 3 different size ear plugs, 4 inch USB-C cable, USB-C to USB-A adapter is also included.
The Ascent allows me to continue to use just one headphone when needed and both if I choose too. It flawlessly pairs with no issues like I had with other prior brands. Great sound, adjustable EQ via app, Find My Earbuds feature and higher than average battery life (I got a solid 4 hours of use per charge at 85% volume).
I'm very picky when it comes to anything in-ear since I have different size ear holes. Some how theses are nearly perfect since they're a smaller form factor than the Jaybird. I didn't have any issues of it falling out either which is perfect since it's easy to forget that you have them on! Overall, I would recommend this if you're looking for something super slick and a solid overall performer.

Great entry level 4K FireTV for the price!
on October 2, 2018

I believe that this is a great entry level 4K smart TV that's perfect for a person on a budget and/or bedroom TV. I am replacing a 46" 1080p Insignia LED TV that's 6 years old in my bedroom. With my PS4 Pro connected, 4K & HDR gaming/video streaming (Netflix 4K HDR) looks amazing. While it isn't up to par in sharpness and clarity like the TV units that cost 10x+ more... it still does a great job versus my previous 1080p unit. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the FireTV OS and looking to upgrade to 4K. Thanks.

Great outdoor speaker
on September 23, 2018
Posted by: drklbc

I was really excited after setting this up to see what the whole deal was about with the Sonos audio system... I like the fact that the Sonos amp enables any wired speaker to become a wifi speaker setup. Streaming music with Spotify never has been easier with the Sonos system. While I do like the amp, the Sonance speakers were above average. Don't get me wrong, they sound great. I just wish there were a little more bass to them. Adding a sub woofer to the setup solved it, but at that price point, you'll expect it to have a greater bass to the speakers. I know what you're thinking, these were made to be outdoors though. But when I have this setup for outdoor projector and music listening usage, I guess I want more bass added to the excellent treble it already has. Overall, it is very pricey, but the amp itself is almost as much as this setup making it worth the price tag. If you're a fan of Sonos, this is worth the addition. Thanks.

Forget the messy oil based deep frying!
on August 2, 2018

from Long Beach, CA
I own a oil based deep fryer to fry simple appetizers like onion rings, french fries and mozzarella sticks... simple... or so they say...
My issue with oil based deep fryer(s), is that you have to change the oil based on your usage and clean the oil spat around it. Air fryers has caught my attention the moment it started to become popular. When I picked this one up I was surprised by the size and weight of it. It definitely has some weight to it!
As for food quality and taste... it reminds me of a George Foreman grill... while you do lose out on a major amount of natural fat, it does maintain some of it's taste as if it was deep fried. Being that I like to fry simple appetizers, this is a win for me... no more mess! This is also very easy to clean too. Honestly for the price... unless you plan on using this often. Get it! Otherwise, look for a smaller unit at a lower price. Thanks.

First experience with a robovac...
on July 8, 2018
Posted by: drklbc
from Long Beach, CA
This is my first experience with a robovac and didn't know what to really expect from it... I like the idea and concept but how will it execute versus my expectation...
From my research... this is definitely a higher price point versus many other robovacs out there, maybe it's the app connected experience and controls? I do, however, like the ability to control it from the app. While setup is a breeze with the app, being able to see the results are very satisfying. I had the robovac run a few times to learn my house layout, while there were many times it got stuck on the standing fan, once it completed a house scan, I blocked the area where the fan is out and the is problem solved. I'm not sure how often cleaning is recommended, but I have a 2 times a week schedule and clean the brush, empty the canister out weekly. I am impressed at how much it actually picks up. I don't know whether to be happy it picked up so much or disappointed that it did. LOL.
Overall, I'm not sure if this is for the average joe looking for a robovac since the price point is pretty high compared to others, but I do like the ability to control more of the bot than just letting it do it's thang with no control. Maybe this is for you too. Maybe not. But I don't regret getting this. Thanks.

One of the best All-In-One PC hands down.

I might have to say Lenovo is killing the PC game with their current design models! The AIO PC is a looker and has come a long way from previous models. Very much in line with the iMac in the design column. For what's packed in a very slim design, I give Lenovo all the credit I can give...
With that out of the way, I have the AIO 730S with the Intel Core i7-8550U (1.80GHz), 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SATA HDD & 23.8" 1080p IPS LED display that's also a touchscreen with built-in speakers which are loud (no bass). While this isn't for a gamer, this is more than enough for your average daily computer user. I see this being for a consumer that uses the computer daily and wants a minimal footprint. The computer itself is very light and performs beautifully while using Office and multi tabbed browsing. With Bluetooth 4.0 on board, I finally had a opportunity to use the wireless display option with my living room TV. It may lack I/O ports but it makes up with wireless abilities. This PC is very much inline for a front desk, family room or even a visitors PC. Bonus is that it does come with it's own wireless keyboard and mouse combo, but you'll lose a USB port to use it. I have my bluetooth Logitech keyboard and mouse paired with it to free up the port. I suggest you look into that route as well. There's also an privacy option for the built in camera for you paranoid people who are worried about someone spying on you. LOL. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for that everyday computer without the bulk. You'll like it too! Thanks.

Bang for the buck! Feature packed at a great price
on June 7, 2018
Posted by: drklbc
from Long Beach, CA
This is the first Vizio product that I have ever owned and it sure won't be the last from this experience with the 2018 P-Series line... Coming from an avid LG customer, I am very impressed at the level of quality and features packed into this latest Vizio offering. The very first thing I noticed is how elegant the P-Series is (This thing is a looker!) and how slim the bezel(s) are... It's very similar to the Infinity displays that Dell is offering in it's XPS lineup.
The initial setup was a bit longer than I had expected. What I mean by that is that after selecting the typical setup options, I had to wait a good 20 minutes for it to download and update itself before being able to use it, while it's not a big deal since it is a Smart TV, it's good for future buyers to know...
After the initial setup and updating, I had my very first experience with the SmartCast OS. From being used to dealing with the WebOS from LG, The SmartCast is about up to par with the apps department. The main apps (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Plex, Crackle and Youtube) are available naively within SmartCast, but like most current TV that has built-in Chromecast. It is heavily dependent on the casting. So in order to use an app that's not available on SmartCast, you can just cast it off the app via mobile device(s). While it's a perk and expands the TV to more devices... I find not being able to re-arrange or remove unused apps a bit annoying... it's the little things.
Visually, this TV shines! It is clear and bright at the vivid setting. I can visually see the brightness difference from my 4K LG to this one. Dolby Vision paired with a Dolby Atmos soundbar is amazing! With 5 HDMI inputs available, I currently have my Playstation 4 Pro, Xbox One S, Alienware Alpha and Apple TV 4K connected to the TV with an LG Dolby Atmos enabled soundbar via optical cable. While my gaming looks amazing, the PC connection did not as it was way too bright. This is a minor issue as switching over to the PC settings helped with the issue. I kinda wish there was an preset I can set so when I switch inputs it would change the setting with it. Maybe in a future update? Maybe...
Overall, for the retail of $1300, this thing is a steal! While I know the TCL has a comparable model as well for cheaper, I find that as the years goes by Vizio is upping their game in the competitive TV market. You gotta ask yourself if you think buying from a bigger brand (i.e. Sony, Samsung, LG) is worth more for the name only. I'm a logical guy who looks into specs and compares them to other brands... at the end of the day, OLED are super nice, but since I wear glasses... I see the world through filtered lens. I hope this helps... Thanks.

Has anyone tried gaming on this system, particularly with a PS4 Pro? If so, what were the results?

My guy, gaming with this TV has been a real treat for me. God of War is out of this world. It really does shine with the HDR enabled. I haven't noticed any lag or flickering. So it's safe to say gaming on this is worth the upgrade if you're looking into that. I have the PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and an Alienware Alpha connected to it. Thanks.
