Solid Chrome OS tablet with a learning curve...
on September 24, 2019

The Pixel Slate is a great step in the right direction when it comes to Chrome OS hybrid tablet/laptop alternatives. I found the Chrome OS interface a bit confusing and does require some time to learn the functionality of the OS... I didn't find it to be as fluid as other interface like Android and PadOS then again this is truly a hybrid OS. Be prepared for a learning curve that is very achievable.
The built quality is top notch with a high quality look and feel. Display is a high res (comparable to the iPad Retina display), speakers are much better than the iPad Pro (I believe there's a dual setup on the Pixel), battery life is up to par with comparable devices (10-11 hours with my prefer settings). 128GB is enough to download plenty of movies ahead of time for long trips/getaways. WiFi speeds are very fast (would be better if it had an LTE option as well). I truly believe the Pixel Slate is a great entertainment tablet, productivity can be done but it will also require a bit of an adjustment.
Sadly, the keyboard ($199) and pen ($99) are separate and third party accessories are hard to come by. Overall, if you're invested in the Google ecosystem, this is the perfect iPad Pro substitute. Thanks.

A versatile keyboard for the Slate.

This is a very good keyboard with a track pad for the Pixel Slate. It doesn't add any battery life to the Slate, but it doesn't draw too much power from it either. The magnetized connectivity for a multitude of angles is a selling point if you're planning to use this on a flat surface often. It does add some weigh but it also is a very good folio cover that doesn't add too much bulk. Personally speaking, I think it's a bit overpriced, but this is the best keyboard out for the Pixel Slate too. Great addition for a great Chrome OS tablet. Possibility a good laptop replacement, if you're a heavy Google user...

Excellent pen for the Pixel Slate!

This is probably one of the most complete stylus I have ever used for a tablet/computer... I have used an Apple Pen Gen 2, Yoga stylus and an Surface pen, but I will say this one is silky smooth when writing on the Slate. Excellent response and battery life like all comparable others. Priced is about right versus the competition's stylus pen. It's not a definite need, but it's very nice to have while using it as a tablet. There really isn't any other choice but this first party pen.

Consistent fast speeds but buggy interface.

If you're thinking of upgrading to the Gigabit Internet, I would HIGHLY recommend this cable modem in a heartbeat! I have ran a speed test multiple times and gotten consistent speed ratings of 980/32 range (I have Spectrum and their "gigabit" is 940/30). Easy setup, had to call to activate with Spectrum, however, the interface and app needed to setup the WiFi on this modem is very buggy. I only wanted the modem, so I disabled the router part to utilize a mesh routing setup I had already had in placed. It's a bit pricey, but it is also very much future proof.

Great start to a cartridge less printer!

I found the ET-2720 to be a very middle of the pack all in one wireless printer when it came to features, but the main selling point has to be that it doesn't use any cartridges! It has all the features you'll want has in wireless and AirPrint capabilities, individual ink tanks, printer/scanner functionality and vibrant printing (depending on the paper you use of course). My only knock on this is that it didn't have a black option. I'm not a fan of white printers, but that's just me. Get it when it's on sale 'cause it's not a cheap printer, but it is worth it on sale. Thanks.

Great budget gaming laptop.

If you're looking for a thin and light mobile powerhouse and under the $800 range. I would highly recommend checking this second coming of the Nitro 5. It comes with a very capable GTX 1050 Ti with HDMI 2.0 output for dual monitor setup. This generation has a slimmer bezel and improved air ventilation which outputs towards the back of the laptop. The 256GB SSD enables very fast boot up and improves loading time. The laptop itself includes an adapter for a second HD if you want to add one, but I recommend taking it to a Acer service provider for this install if you're not too technically inclined. It would have been nice if it had came with a higher res monitor, but the matte finish and 1080p is still capable. With 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C, 1 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0, it has the right amount of ports for your gaming needs. Light enough for mobility with decent 3-5 hours of battery life. I wouldn't recommend overclocking the GPU since it will make the fans RPM go up to 8K which is pretty loud if you're not used to having a gaming laptop. Overall, great for the price and budget minded individuals. Thanks.

Best Xbox headset by far.

I primarily use a Logitech G533 for my PS4 and PC for it's wireless capabilities and a SteelSeries Arctis 5 for the Xbox. While there's nothing wrong with my current headset setup. It's always nice to upgrade every now and then. When I finally got a hold of the A40, I was amp'd to finally get a hold of a headset with a mixer. Playing Red Dead, 2K and COD sounds amazing with the included 2 year sub for Dolby Atmos via app on both the Xbox and PC. The headset itself is very comfortable for long usages, but it gotten a bit warm after awhile due to the cotton material of the cushion for me. Being that the mixer is connected to the controller, I did experience a bit of a shorter life on the battery life, but that's not a big deal since I can easily just swap controllers. It is a bit on the pricier side, but it's the only headset that you can make adjustments with interchangeable mod kits. Both the G533 and Arctis 5 are excellent headset, but the A40 takes it up a notch! Worth it. Thanks.

Desktop replacement made mobile.

This is a very solid "gaming" laptop with a expensive price tag. Though, similar specs laptop are around the same price range. Very fast boot up with a great amount of storage space. Delicate GPU is amazing when connecting to an external monitor with high res via Thunderbolt or HDMI which are located on the back-end of the laptop (very nice touch). The screen is a 1080p 60hz that is very sharp and capable. While this is portable, it does carry some weigh to it. Good battery life (3-4 moderate gaming, 4-5 general use) and does run a bit on the warmer side. I can see this as a desktop replacement gaming computer if you're looking for that portability to travel with, but purchase when it's on sale. It's a hefty price tag but worth it. Thanks.

Great sound and bass!

If you like to host backyard gatherings, tailgating or picnicking... you have to check this speaker out! I was impressed with the sound and bass this Sony speaker offered. The AM/FM radio and microphone connectivity is a nice touch, however I really wanted this to be a battery operated speaker as well. It's really not for constant movement, but rather a mobile stationary speaker. Not saying this is a heavy speaker 'cause it's not, it's probably the best sounding speaker in it's field, hands down.
You can download the app to change the lighting effects and also "DJ" sounds are available. It's definitely made for parties, but I use it for backyard gatherings. Daisy chaining is a great option, but this can handle great by itself. I would recommend purchasing this when it's on sale. It does have a hefty price tag for a non battery operating speaker. Thanks.

Great upgrade-able PC.
on December 23, 2018

For just over $1K, this is a super clean, upgrade-able PC worth the buck and your consideration. There's plenty of gaming PC manufacturers out there, but I chosen to stick with HP's lineup since it'll be my 3rd PC from the maker. I have heard of the OMEN lineup and found them very pleasingly comparable to the Alienware brand. I found this OMEN to be easy on the eyes and performance is VERY surprising. I have a i7 solid state HD laptop and this is just as fast when it comes to boot time. Gaming on the GTX 1060 is wonderful and I'm coming from a GTX 765! While I haven't upgraded to a QHD or 4K monitor, just yet, on a IPS HD 1080p looks amazing. Barely any noticeable lag, super fast built-in WIFI, fast USB-C and USB 3.0 ports, 3 display ports and 1 HDMI and ultra quiet fan operation. I look forward to upgrading the RAM to maximum capacity and getting the FULL experience from this PC. Thanks.

Has anyone tried gaming on this system, particularly with a PS4 Pro? If so, what were the results?

My guy, gaming with this TV has been a real treat for me. God of War is out of this world. It really does shine with the HDR enabled. I haven't noticed any lag or flickering. So it's safe to say gaming on this is worth the upgrade if you're looking into that. I have the PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and an Alienware Alpha connected to it. Thanks.
