For the price, you can’t beat it

If you want to read a short review, here you go: VERY easy to set up, and great coverage. I just wish the satellites were able to be hardwired to the main router.
A little bit longer of a review:
What’s in the box: Main router, two satellites, setup guide and power cables.
Setup: VERY easy. I have internet that is provided via an Ethernet ONT, which means I do not have a modem or anything other than what came in the Linksys box. If you don’t have internet service like this, there is a little more setup but nothing difficult. For me, all I had to do was plug the Ethernet cable into the internet port on the back of the new router, and plug in all my other hard wired devices that were there. Plug it in, and wait for the light to turn white. Then, place the satellites where you want them, plug them in and wait for those lights to turn white as well. All of this took me a few minutes, and I was up and running. You can technically stop here, but you can customize much more than that! There is a QR code that you can scan in the setup guide which connects your phone to your new WiFi system. You then go to a website which allows you to set it up and change simple configuration settings (WiFi network name, password, etc.). I followed this, and changed the WiFi network name and password to my previous network setting….it rebooted and viola….all of my devices were now connected.
Use: While the above setup look like a long paragraph, it truly was very easy to set up. There is a website you can go to which allows you to customize more settings, or you can also download an app from the App Store to use on your mobile device which makes it easier to do. There are no paywalls for any of the settings, they are all available to use. You are able to set up a guest network, as well as port forwarding, change DHCP settings, block certain devices, set up parental controls and more. It is all very easy to do.
Performance. I switched from a different mesh network, which actually had a wired backhaul between he nodes, and this network performs much better. The transition between nodes (I have a three story home, with one node on each level) is very smooth and quick, and I have between 2 and 3 WiFi bars on my phone everywhere in the house. I have a 1 gig connection, and speed test results are between 200-600 mbps depending on where I am in the house.
Overall: I’m not a highly advanced network user, but more advanced that basic. I really like this system and it is easy to set up. The satellite nodes are very small and easy to fit in wherever you need them. I wish the satellite nodes had Ethernet ports in them for both a wired backhaul and to use a wired device attached, but you get that with higher end models.

Well built, quiet and very versatile
on February 21, 2024

So far so good! The fan is very easy to set up and is very versatile.
Setup: not much, but a tiny bit. The main stand tube clips together. You use one screw to mount that tube to the base, and then the fan clips in at the top. Plug in the cord to start charging…and you’re done!
Use: you have a few ways to use this fan. You can use it on the stand as a floor fan, pull the fan off the top of the base and fold out its little feetsies and use it as a table top…and both modes can be plugged in or use for many hours with its built in battery! The fan has a remote control that stores on the back and allows you to change speed, angle and oscillation mode.
This fan is able to be used outdoors! It has a mist attachment that I haven’t been able to use yet (it’s a little cold here still!). It is easy to attach though. It simply clips on the front of the fan housing, and attaches to your garden hose.
One thing I noticed right away was how insanely quiet the fan is. You cannot hear it running on the lower speeds, and mainly just hear wind on the high speed.

The ECOVACS DEEBOT X2 OMNI is a giant leap forward for robot vacuums. Its slimmer square-shaped design offers better edge cleaning, cornering, and maneuvering under low clearance areas and around obstacles. Add in automatic mop lifting and enhanced learning capability, and you’ll quickly discover why it’s able to go where no robot vacuum has gone before.

Best on the market

Short review: best robot vacuum/mop that I feel exists.
Longer review: I believe I’ve owned most every brand of robot vacuum out there, and ecovacs is the best out there.
Setup: very easy. After you unbox/unpack everything, the instructions are easy to follow. Put the robot on the dock, fill up the water tank and open the app. Once in the app, create and account and add a device. It walks you through the process, and the robot actually talks you through it. Initial setup only took a few minutes, and I was off to the races. Next up, you need a map for the robot to know where it is. In the app you start the quick map function, where the robot goes around and looks at the area and creates a base map. It doesn’t really clean during this run, but rather uses its sensors to look around and make the map.
Use: now that the initial map is setup, it’s time to clean. There are so many options that it’s not possible to go over them all here, but I’ll do the basics. You are able to start the cleaning process from the robot itself by pushing a button, or by using the app. I always use the app because you are able to pick rooms or areas to clean. This is also where you mark off where you don’t want the robot to go. You can draw lines or squares to block off areas, you can also have the robot “extra” clean carpet/rugs or avoid it all together. The app has so much customization is amazing. You can pick specific areas to receive extra vacuuming, extra mopping, light mopping and more, the sky is really the limit and it’s easy to configure. I have the robot configured to vacuum and mop, and it is scheduled to clean certain areas daily and other areas a few times a week. The robot even lifts the mopping pads when it moves to an area that doesn’t need mopping, so you don’t have to swap them on/off depending on the use.
Self cleaning station: while it does have a footprint on the larger size compared to other robot vacuums, it packs a punch. The robot self cleans basically everything. It uses water (or cleaner if you add it) to clean the mopping pads and also refill itself to mop the floors. It will also empty the dust bin from vacuuming. The water tank in the base holds quite a bit, so you could leave it for quite a while depending on the size of floor and frequency of use.
Overall: basically this is a glowing review. The app is easy to use and highly customizable. The navigation of the robot is great and it is able to navigate some tricky areas. The cleaning power is as good as can be for a robot vacuum. It does have a video feature where you can watch what the robot sees in real time, and actually talk through it. I haven’t seen a purpose for that, but it’s there. Also, there is a multi floor plan option in the app, but I haven’t used it so I’m not sure how easy that is to use.
Basically. Buy this.

Heavy, and overall easy to set up
on November 10, 2023
Posted by: Alex
This is a (fairly) easy outdoor floodlight to set up, with some small quirks.
You do need to have a sync module for this camera system to work, and this is really two parts in one. This is an outdoor blink camera, as well as the flood light (which is basically a fancy dock and mounting system). The instructions that come with aren't super clear, but once I found the video online, it became much easier.
Setup is pretty simple. Pair the camera to your sync module, plug it into the base, and then snap it onto the base. The base itself has 4 large batteries behind an easy to remove panel. The whole assembly itself is fairly heavy because of all of the batteries, so make sure you mount it appropriately, otherwise it could fall. The base has 3 screws and the floodlight mount slides and clicks on. This does NOT mount where current outdoor floodlights are mounted. It won't mount onto an outdoor receptacle. This is made for somewhere you don't have power, but after you mount it, it looks like a fairly typical outdoor floodlight.
Use: The app makes this camera easy to use, with quite a few adjustments and features. You can remotely turn on/off the lights, as well as view the camera. In order to save battery, this does NOT constantly record, only when it senses motion. It will then record a short clip of the motion (you can adjust the length....and the longer the shorter your battery will last).
If you want cloud recording, you have to subscribe to a blink plan which starts at 3 dollars a month for one camera. If you don't subscribe, you can use a thumb drive plugged into the sync module.
Overall, this system is fine. I'm not a fan of how heavy it is with the large batteries. time will tell with how long the batteries will last, but with D's I imagine its quite a while

Looks great, taste great, uses lots of beans
on November 2, 2023

Excellent coffee center with one small gripe that I'll get to.
Setup: The setup is very easy and straightforward. You can hook up the coffee maker to wifi, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Simply wash the water container, carafe, brew basket and you're good to go! If you want to connect to wifi, that is easy as well. I downloaded the app, and it immediately recognized there was a nearby coffee maker that needed to connect to wifi. Follow the steps, and you are online in no time (took me a few minutes to get on wifi).
Use: There are many settings for this coffee maker (even more on the app to fine tune bloom etc). Otherwise, it is very easy to brew a pot (or cup) of coffee. The water reservoir has enough water for about 1.5 pots, or a pot and a couple extra cups later. The bean hopper at the top holds a decent amount, but I wished it could hold a little more. You can adjust the grind size as well, between multiple different settings. I left it right in the middle as recommended, and that seems to work well for me. There are two different included filters, both of which are reusable permanent type filters. The larger basket for brewing a whole pot, and the smaller one for brewing a cup (think Keurig but without the pods.) You can also use paper filters for full pots if you don't want to use the permanent one. Ok, so you want a pot of coffee? Let's do that. Its simple. On the pad, select the brew size (cup, pot, how many etc), strength (light, medium, bold, gold), and press brew. The machine then grinds the required amount, steeps and brews the pot. It takes roughly 8 minutes and you're off to the races! You are also able to use pre-ground beans if you'd like, and can bypass the grinding function.
Taste: In my experience so far, it brews on the strong side. Even on the light setting, it seems to use quite a few beans, and still comes out quite strong. Now, I LOVE strong coffee, I've just noticed this is quite strong. The Gold setting is very strong, but has a good taste to it. This is the gripe I mentioned above....it uses ALOT of beans.
Overall: There are many fine tweaking settings, especially if you set up the app. You can also set a timer either on the machine or in the app to brew at a certain time, or you can remotely start a brew from the app (just be sure you have a filter in!). I found a useful wifi feature is it tells you on the app when the brew cycle is complete, so if you are far away from the machine you know when you have fresh coffee! The machine is large; however, it combines a grinder and a nice water tank. This has a smaller footprint overall than my old machine with separate grinder.

Very nice, and you can really wear them all day
on September 26, 2023

These headphones look, feel, and sound great.
These are on par, or better than, most in ear headphones that I've used. When you open the box, you are presented with a quick start guide, the headphones in the charging case, and multiple ear tip choices. Pairing is very easy, and depending on your device can be very VERY easy (I.e. android). If you do not have a quick pair device, it is still easy to do by simply pressing a button. The headphones will actually speak to you in your ear and tell you what to do if you need help.
The fit and comfort of these headphones is great, and they advertise that as well. By playing around with the many ear tip pieces, you can get a very comfortable fit that is secure, but without too much pressure. I tried shaking my head as hard as I could to get them to fall out, and they wouldn't. You can wear these for quite a few hours and still have them be comfortable.
Sound quality: These are advertised as atmos headphones, and while true, it obviously isn't true atmos because you aren't in a theater with alllll those speakers around you. That said, though, they sound quite good! They are able to take in full atmos sound and reproduce a very "large" sounding, well, sound, in your ear. They sound very good, and the buttons on the side of each ear allow you to control the device you are paired to. You can even control volume! I don't have any other in ear headphones that allow me to control volume!
Overall: These are great headphones, that are comfortable with good sound quality and an equally as good build feel/quality.

Meet the new Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum. Its ultra-intelligent detect suite gives you 4 deep-cleaning technologies that detect & react to their surroundings. DirtDetect senses the hidden dirt that hides in your home, and automatically boosts power to pull it in. EdgeDetect senses edges and corners and doubles suction* power for more powerful cleaning* (vs. ECO mode). FloorDetect senses carpets and hard floors around your home, and optimizes your vacuum’s performance based on the floor type. Lastly, LightDetect automatically illuminates dark spaces, so you can easily track down hidden dirt. All four of these technologies combine in the Shark Detect Pro to give you up to 50% better* dirt pickup (*Based on ASTMF608, eco vs. boost). Never swap nozzles with the QuadClean Multi-Surface brush roll that tackles four cleaning targets: fine dust, pet hair, large debris, and dust along edges. For incredible maneuverability, Detect Pro gives you full-sized* cordless power, in a 30% lighter** frame (*vs. IZ862H, **Based on ASTMF608, vs IZ540H). Change the way you clean with the new Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum.

Overall good, with great dirt and rug detection
on September 26, 2023
Posted by: Alex
I've had many stick vacuum's in my day, and this one is up there on my list of favorites. There are a few minor quirks though, and I'll get to that.
Setup: Very easy. Snap a few pieces together, and plug it in.
Use: I use this mainly with the brush roll, but to switch around to the wand or crevice tools is easy. Just press the tab, and slide off the brush tool and click on the wand or other tool you are going to use. General use is you press the on/off button, and let it do its automatic detection thing! There are lights on the brushroll that automatically illuminate when the room is a little darker to help you see what is ahead of you and what you are cleaning. There is also an indicator light on the brush roll and by the power button that shows how much dirt the vacuum detects. When you are vacuuming, the suction power will change based on dirt detection, carpet/rug detection, and corner detection. In my experience this works quite well, and the suction goes up and down as I go on and off rugs, as well as when I hit a dirty spot. If I hug a wall with the brush roll, the suction also increases to try and get those pesky pieces of dirt out of corners or against base boards.
Overall: Battery life is on par with other stick vacuums. You aren't doing your whole house with this (probably), but you are going to get most, if not all, of what you need to get cleaned with this. The brush roll does not seem to tangle with hair very easily, which is a plus. My only gripe is it does not come with a way to mount to the wall, or a stand. You have to plug in a barrel type plug to the side to charge the battery, and it simply sits on the floor. It cannot freestand on its own unless you take the main motor off and set it next to the brush roll. The dirt bin is a little awkward to empty, but not too bad. Overall, it is a nice vacuum, with a little room for improvement.

Excellent camera for the price
on September 26, 2023
Posted by: Alex
This is an excellent, budget friendly external webcam with microphone.
Setup: This camera can literally be plug and play and work without any configuration straight out of the box, or you can install software to tweak it a little more. Setup on a corporation owned computer with locked down install rights is just fine, as you can plug in this camera and off you go!
Use: The clamshell type design on the back makes it a pinch to set on top of your monitor, and then adjust the viewing angle up and down. It simply rests on top of the monitor, and doesn't pinch it, which I like. It is sturdy enough that I don't feel like it will fall down though. You cannot adjust the viewing angle to the left or right, though. So you have to be able to put it in front of you, and can't really angle it off to the side.
Quality: I've had a few other budget web cams, and this one is on par with them video quality, and better with the built in microphone quality. It does seem to be a bit more "zoomed" in though, than some other cameras. But that is fine for teams or zoom meetings where you really just need head shots anyway. The built in microphone works very well, and picks me up from a natural sitting position in my chair quite well. I don't get any comments that I am in a tunnel or anything like that like I have with some other web cams. The picture quality is 1080p, but not crazy clear. It is not bad by any means though.
Overall: This is an excellent camera for the price, with good audio to boot. The built in privacy shutter is easy to use, and slides back and forth.

Easy to use CCS adapter
on August 24, 2023
Posted by: Alex
This is a basic item, but it works well.
This CCS adapter lets you charge your CCS compatible tesla and not worry about charging locations.
The adapter comes in a very nice carry case that zips shut, and a manual that explains the order of plugging into a CCS charging station.
The quality feels nice, it has a heft to it that feels quality and durable, but not overly heavy.
The charging rate you get is what you would expect for a fast charging station. I did have a couple hiccups getting the charge to start, but I believe that’s more on the EA station I was using and not the adapter itself.
Charging with CCS is not nearly as easy to use as a supercharger that you are used to, but this adapter does make it as easy as it can be, and comes in a small compact package.
I throw the adapter in its case in the sub trunk along with my other charging equipment, and will use it when a supercharger is out of the way, or I just can’t find one.
Overall, this is a very simple, but effective product.

Best smart deadbolt you can buy
on August 11, 2023
Posted by: Alex
This is my second Level Smart lock deadbolt replacement, and I still love it.
What's included: Everything you need except for the screwdriver, including two keys and two keychain keycards (you don't have to use these, just an option)
Pre-Setup: First, and this is important, make sure your door is compatible and can lock without pushing or pulling on the door. Both doors I installed a lock on was compatible, but I had to adjust them so they could lock. It is an easy fix, just search YouTube for videos on how to adjust doors.
Install: The instructions are straight forward. First, you remove the existing deadbolt. You then follow the directions on how to install the new one. You start with the deadbolt itself, then the motor, then the key side and finally the paddle side on the interior side of the door. You can have this installed within 15 minutes, and the instructions are straight forward.
Setup: Also very easy. Once you have the app on your phone, open it up and and follow the instructions for adding the lock. It is very quick and straight forward. If you have an apple device, it guides you through adding it to HomeKit, the home app, and using apple home key.
Use: There are many different ways of using this lock. You can use it as a "dumb" lock with regular keys, using the key cards, using the Bluetooth and geolocation of you phone and simply touching the lock, using apple home key, OR using HomeKit/siri. This is just with apple, the lock integrates with other smart ecosystems as well. You can ALSO use a combination of any of those. The app, as well as apple home app, can tell you whether the door is locked/unlocked. You can also guest access to other users, and add/remove keycards as needed.
Overall: I love this lock. It looks great (you can't even tell its a smart lock), works well and is easy to install and use.

How do you switch out of Boost mode?

I may have accidentally pressed the Boost button while connecting the right sweeping tool. I was not able to switch the Boost mode off. I had to use the vacuum in Boost mode that ran out of battery in 6 minutes and then I have to recharge for 3 and half hours. Is it possible to switch off the Boost mode?
in order to turn it on or off you have to do it while holding the trigger.

with one had, pull the trigger to turn the vacuum on, with your other hand press the "max" button on the back, the unit will switch back and forth. There is a blue ring lit up around the max button when max mode is on.
