The H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 is built with the same durable aluminum alloy frame as the Ace R350, but gets an upgraded 450W motor, a larger battery, higher top speed, and extended range. The Ace R450’s 450W motor gives it the extra power it needs to be able to reach a top speed of 20 mph and accelerate with more oomph. The dual front shocks absorb impacts while riding, adding to your riding comfort. With the 10” self-sealing tube tires, flat tires are a thing of the past. Get up to 25.6 miles of range for those longer distance rides. View your current speed, speed mode, battery level, odometer, and more from the premium LED display. Ace R450 is a welcome enhancement to the already solid platform its based upon.

Fast scooter & love the shocks
on February 20, 2024
Posted by: ShawnInKB
This was quick and easy to setup in less than 10 mins. Unfold it and just a few (6) screws to attach the handlebar to the base.
When it is charging there are no lights on the scooter itself (display blanks out once plugged in), but there is a red light on the charging pack that changes to green when it’s done charging.
The large 10” tires and shocks up front are great! It is a much smoother ride than other rigid scooters I’ve been on. The platform is nice and big for a comfortable standing/riding position. The handles also appear to be replaceable if you ever need to swap out grips and look like they would allow for you to add a side view mirror.
Standard scooter controls – left hand break for stopping, bell (useful on a bike path!), and right hand thumb paddle accelerator. 3 speed modes: Eco, Drive, and Sport. Sport mode is zippy! You almost need googles on to keep your eyes from watering at 20 MPH.
It’s easy to collapse the stem for carrying, putting in a car, etc. It took me a minute to figure out how to unlatch the scooter once folded (I was pushing down on the top – you need to push the lever under the latch). Note that it’s a bit beefy at 42 lbs.
It has a headlight and rear tail light that also blinks when you hit the brake. I like that it has reflectors front, rear, and sides in addition to the lights to help you be seen especially at night.
The app is intuitive and found the scooter right away. I like that you can enable/disable cruise control and select whether to pedal or not to start. (In pedal mode it just means you have to kick off with your foot to get it moving prior to the accelerator kicking in - which I actually prefer for a smoother start.)
You can also lock it in the app, but like any scooter you’ll want a sturdy lock to actually lock it up if you plan to park it anywhere.
Overall seems very sturdy and well built.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fun when working Needs strong WiFi signal outside
on November 18, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
This was surprisingly difficult to get setup. At first, all seemed to be going well. I charged the camera to 100%, I established Wi-Fi, I installed the latest firmware update and I could do a test and could see what the camera was seeing inside the house.
The challenges began when I tried to put it in my yard. I have a shepherds hook with a bird feeder now located about 25 feet from my house. I hung bird buddy there and almost immediately received a postcard. (Carolina chickadee! Yay!) But I watched as dozens of birds came and went and did not receive any more postcards. I tried to view the live stream and got errors. (Side note, we have really good Wi-Fi and repeaters all over the house since my spouse and I both work from home.) I moved it about 10 feet closer to the house and still could not wake it up using the live stream. I put it on my 2nd story deck right outside my office and finally could see the live stream and Wi-Fi. However, I don’t want birds leaving droppings on my 2nd story deck so I had to go around the yard looking for a spot that would show Wi-Fi signal.
Went through rebooting cable modem, rebooting WiFi, and resetting Bird Buddy.
After about 4-5 locations, I found a spot that got a low signal but worked. I received another postcard this morning (another Carolina chickadee) and still have okay Wi-Fi signal. My recommendation is to be sure you have really strong Wi-Fi (outside your house, which can be a challenge) or if you can, put it right outside your house or the room where your router is. Looking at other feeders in the app, it looks like a lot of people do that on their shared bird pix. The feeder itself seems sturdy and easy to fill and clean and I do like that there is a solar panel on the roof for charging.
Note that if you live stream it kills the battery very quickly. I was going to get one of these for my elderly mother, but need to make sure her WiFi signal will be strong enough. I don’t want to put her through frustratingly trying all kinds of installation locations.
Maybe in version 2.0 they’ll update with stronger WiFi and bigger battery in the unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great - looks great – easy to setup!

This lock is excellent! A unique smaller design over other locks I’ve tried and has all the bells and whistles for your needs.
Physical Installation:
I had a few challenges with installation, but wasn’t difficult to overcome. My strike plate on the deadbolt / door side needed to be deeper to accommodate the thicker Level Lock strike plate. I had to borrow a dremel style tool from a neighbor to sand it down (only took a few minutes to do once I had the right tool.) On the strike plate on my house side ran into a couple things. 1) My old strike plate was rectangular and the Level deadbolt is round. So I had to replace it – thankfully Level included 2 optional strike plates to replace it with. When I removed my old one, there was no groove at all on the door for my old strike plate and Level’s are thicker (so probably also more secure). But this meant I needed to also borrow a chisel to first create a recessed groove and then used the dremel sander to smooth it out and get to the right depth. I recommend you check out your specific old lock/strike plates prior to installation so that you have the rights tools to install.
Once I got that sorted, everything else was a breeze. Instructions were clear and installing the lock, keypad and home connect module were all super easy and worked the first time!
Unique Small Design and Battery:
It’s got a unique design where the batter is actually installed in the deadbolt itself. Battery was easy to install, just unscrew the cap at the end of the deadbolt with it in the unlocked position. This makes the lock itself very small. You can’t even tell this is a smart lock from looking at it either outside or in. Battery is a standard 1 CR2 lithium battery. You might not have these laying around, but available everywhere. Says battery life is 6 months to a year. It’s nice that it is just 1 battery. Others I’ve used all had 2-4 batteries so this will be a less expensive lock to maintain.
Bells and Whistles:
As I mentioned this lock does have it all option wise. You can unlock with the app, key cards – think hotel lock (2 included), pin codes with included pin pad, your phone via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (via app or Google Home), or a traditional key (2 included).
The app is well though out and very intuitive. App setup was a breeze to add the pin pad, Wi-Fi connect module, and pair everything including adding to Google Home. It was super easy to add users and pin codes. Overall, so far this lock is excellent!

Great option for the money
on November 13, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
Quality of the video is good at 1080p. Not as good as 2K or 4K, but at this price point is still a good option. The installation wasn’t as intuitive as I’d hoped. I got the Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight bundle and each device has its own instructions. Sync module, Camera, and Floodlight mount. They need to better align these on which to do/install first or have a separate instructions for when you get the bundle. I had to do some internet searching to figure out which barcode to scan first and install. I went the Sync module first, then Camera, then Floodlight mount. I clicked to fast during the floodlight mount and had to do a fair amount of digging to get back to the installation instructions.
I figured everything needed to be charged and mistakenly plugged in the camera to a USB C to charge it only to realize it runs on batteries and that the USB C port is to connect the flood light to it. The blink camera uses 2 AA’s and the flood light uses 4 D batteries. Good and bad – you don’t have to charge it, but you do need to replace batteries at some point. We’ll see how long they last. Claims 2 years so time will tell. If so, that’s totally reasonable to get on a ladder and switch them out.
Light output of the flood lights is very good. I have them mounted about 20’ above ground off of our siding next to the base of our 3rd story deck. Does a good job lighting up the outdoor staircase and the yard (see pic).
I installed it with the included siding mount for ease, but I live in coastal NC and not sure that mount is going to stand up to any significant wind let along a tropical storm or hurricane. The vinyl siding mount was very easy to install (no tools) so I figured I try that first. If it does fall though, will probably break the whole thing at 20’ up, so I probably will drill it into the wood deck prior to next storm.
Video and alerts are quick and I’m impressed with the speed the cloud video clips are available for viewing. Sensor is good and it picks up me and the dog in the yard from 25-30’ away.
I like the double LED spotlights. They are easy to position to light up my stairs and whole side yard.
Like all these internet cameras - the features are limited if you don’t pay the subscription, but at $3 a month/$30 a year it doesn’t break the bank.

This tiny 2TB SSD is soooo fast!
on October 28, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
This little hard drive is very impressive! It is extremely light weight. I love how small and compact it is and can easily fit in your pocket (see pictures). I’m blown away with how incredibly fast it is. I tested it on a windows laptop (running Windows 11), connected it via the included USB C cable and I copied a 4GB video file from the laptop hard drive to this portable SSD in only 7 seconds! It’s 2TB so there is plenty of storage for backup, games, pictures, or general file storage, etc.
The specifications say that it can handle a 6.5 foot (2 meters) drop. I didn’t try dropping it 😊, but I believe it - it’s so light weight that I am sure it would be fine and it is SSD so there are no moving parts.
It also comes with a nice short USB C to USB C cable. It doesn’t come with a strap, but it does have a pass through small hook on one corner if you wanted to attached it via a thin strap or cable.
Note that it doesn’t come with an USB A adapter, but I did test it with one and it works fine (obviously at slower speeds).

Makes great nugget ice fast!
on October 28, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
Pretty impressed with this ice maker. It makes ice quickly and while it does hum, it’s not too loud. It started making ice in about 10 mins and completely filled the ice bin in 3 hours and 45mins. See timed pictures. Compare that to a standard ice cube tray a regular freezer takes 3-4 hours – Pretty impressive!
The bin and unit are well insulated and do a great job keeping the ice cold even when turned off for the evening. There was still lots of ice over 12 hours later the next morning. (see pics).
We have hard water, so the bin retains a bit of white residue, but it’s easy to clean. The ice still tasted great.
From a initial startup perspective – it’s very easy (note you need a teaspoon of standard bleach for initial startup). It took about 30 mins to run through the initial start up of cleaning and then flushing it 3 times, so plan for 30 mins prior to using it for ice for the 1st time.
The little scooper is nice and has 2 slots to put it in the ice bucket, but it’s a little tough to get it back into those slots once the ice bucket is full. I just tossed it on top.
It’s compact and does fit under standard counter cabinets, but it does take up some room for sure. Especially if you use the side water tank.

Next level multicooker!
on October 6, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
We have a smallish kitchen and I hate to have clutter on the countertops. Before I was sold on replacing my toaster oven with this, I had to put it though some day to day tests. And so far, this has become my favorite new cooking appliance. And the “combi” concept is not just a neat idea, it really works.
1. Toast - I can actually make regular toast in this one. The last time I tried to make simple toast in an air fryer (the toaster oven type), it came out so dry and overly crunchy on the inside. This did a fine job with toast, although their idea of “medium” is my idea of almost burnt so I stick with the “light” setting. You will make quesadillas, reheat pizza and leftovers, the same way (at least that’s how I’m using it).
2. Full meals - This is my first real air fryer/multi appliance and I really like the “combination” of capabilities in a small space. It’s kinda like magic. I put in 2 cups of rice in one pan, 4 seasoned chicken breasts in the other and hit a button and it cooks them both. Together. In the same place. Finishing at the same time. Frozen meat? No problem. Want a veggie? Wrap it in foil and add it to the top tray when you have 5 minutes left on the timer. Bam. Combi meals is where I will be using this the most. Note that it puts out a good amount of steam. So when cooking in this mode we pull it closer to the counter edge so all the steam doesn’t make the cabinet above wet. (It’s a lot of exhaust steam).
3. Buffalo (or any) style chicken wings - You just move a dial on top of the oven from “combi” to “air fryer” and put in 16 fully thawed, dry-rub seasoned chicken drummettes and wings (a little tight, I admit, but it worked) and they were perfectly crispy and cooked. I recommend turning things with tongs MINIMUM one time at about the halfway point. I even made a dozen frozen chicken wings just to test it out. I “defrosted” them for 10 minutes on bake at 400 degrees, then seasoned and cooked as usual and they came out almost as delicious as thawed wings.
Be careful when opening the door that it both opens fully and doesn’t swing back on you when you open it. I burned the outside of my wrist when the door floated back towards closed while my hands were reaching inside. So be mindful that the door doesn’t stay put without a firm push or be sure to wear gloves when reaching in.
The only thing I need now are MORE recipes! There are tons online for other Ninja air fryers and such, but none yet specifically for the Combi outside the book it comes with
We’ve tried a few other air fryer devices – this is way better!

Lightweight, quiet, full size BT mouse
on September 25, 2023

Great wireless full size desk or travel mouse. It paired via Bluetooth quickly with my laptop. It’s very ergonomic and comfortable to use for long periods of time.
It has all the buttons for forward and back and includes an extra thumb button that “shows desktop” in Windows by default. You can customize the buttons via the JLab Windows app. Note that you do have to connect the mouse to laptop via the included USB dongle to customize the mouse buttons. Note that it does retain the settings if you then switch it back to a Bluetooth connection so you can set it and forget it and connect via either method afterwards.
It clicks very quietly, which is great when using during presentations or recordings (I demonstrate a lot of software in my job).
It can also be connected to 3 devices (1 via USB dongle and 2 via Bluetooth) if you want to connect and move between devices. I like that it is USB rechargeable vs. a traditional battery and it comes with a 5’ long USB-C charging cable. It does have an off switch as well to preserve battery while traveling, etc.

Meet the new Shark Cordless Detect Pro Stick Vacuum. It features an ultra-intelligent Detect performance suite—4 deep-cleaning technologies that detect & react to your home to capture hidden dirt on every surface, corner, edge, and crevice. DirtDetect senses the hidden dirt that hides in your home, and automatically boosts power to pull it in. EdgeDetect senses edges and corners and doubles suction* power for more powerful cleaning* (vs. ECO mode). FloorDetect senses carpets and hard floors around your home, and optimizes your vacuum’s performance based on the floor type. Lastly, LightDetect automatically illuminates dark spaces, so you can easily track down hidden dirt. All four of these technologies combine in the Shark Detect Pro to give you up to 50% better* dirt pickup (*Based on ASTMF608, eco vs. boost). Plus, the QuadClean Multi-Surface brushroll tackles four cleaning targets: fine dust, pet hair, large debris, and dust along edges. After every clean, Detect Pro Auto-Empty System brings you the ultimate convenience—it empties on its own. Return it to its base, and it charges and empties automatically, sealing in up to 30 days worth of dust & debris, so you can forget about emptying for up to a month, and leave behind the trips to the trash can after every use. Inside the base, Odor Neutralizer Technology guards against bad odors, for a fresh-smelling home. Change the way you clean with the Shark Cordless Detect Pro Auto-Empty System—the dirt-detecting cordless that empties itself.

Lightweight, a headlamp, and self emptying? YES!
on September 21, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
I’m impressed with this stick vacuum. I got this for my Mom and she is very petite, so first and foremost, happy that it is super lightweight and easy to maneuver around the house and carry up and down stairs.
The nose fits mostly under furniture but the arm junction prevents it from going more than 3 or so inches underneath. It does a good job discerning between hardwoods, thin rugs and thicker carpeting, but it does seem a to need an extra once over on multi-height pile rugs.
You can manually adjust the suction up or down which helps with vacuuming the dog bed. A lower setting prevents it from sucking up the corners but still gets up the dog hair.
The coolest part though, is the self emptying feature. After you are done, you just re-dock the vacuum on the home base and it empties the contents into the bin. The bin is extremely easy to remove and empty.
There are multiple attachments that are very easy to install and remove. Instructions were a little vague, but it’s so easy to setup I just referred to the instructions once or twice to understand some new features, like there’s a “nighttime” button that will prevent the auto emptying feature from randomly kicking on.
I like vacuums with a “headlamp”. At first I couldn’t tell if this had one or not, but it does and it’s auto light sensing and only comes on when it’s dark near the head (presumably to save battery).
It claims 1 hour battery life. I haven’t tried to run it for a full hour, but I can definitely get 2,000 square feet vacuumed in one charge.

Compact outdoor smoker oven - great pizza!
on September 21, 2023
Posted by: ShawnInKB
This is definitely an outdoor only oven. It gets extremely hot, inside and out, and puts out an incredible amount of smoke and/or steam when cooking.
The first thing we tried was pizza. The pizzas came out very good. The perfect fitting pizza stone was included. The bottom of the pie was nicely browned and the inside of the crust was yielding while the crust itself was firm and crisp and not chewy or “mouth-pain causing” hard crust. We are such beginners with homemade pizza crust though, and mine was too thick for my liking (I jokingly called my leftovers “calzone”). We were going for thin crust, but we used store-bought pizza dough and just couldn’t manipulate it thin enough. We will try again after making our own dough from scratch. The oven put a very nice sear on the edges of the crust, the meat (and my wife’s pineapples) and on the cheese. Once we nail down our thickness of dough I’m sure this will cook perfect pizza. One note – it takes about 20 minutes to heat up to pizza temps (550-700). So add that to your prep planning. Once at heat it cooks pizza in just 3-5 mins depending on the type you are going for (Thin vs. NY style, etc.)
We also made beef short ribs and mostly used the recipe from the booklet. I’m glad there are a few recipes provided, but I would like way more detail and some photos of what the steps are and how things should look while cooking also. Maybe if you already know how to use a pellet smoker or outdoor pizza oven, your learning curve won’t be as steep as ours. One odd thing we ran into with the recipe - you can set multiple stages for foods that need varying temperatures. Like for the short ribs, on Stage 1, you put pellets in the smoker at 700 first and smoke up the ribs and turn them constantly, then you have a Stage 2 setting that is 325 degrees and for 3.5 hours. This is where it’s strange - the recipe said to put stage 2 at 325 degrees for 3.5 hours, but the timer dial would only go to 3.0 hours. We waited until it went down to 2.5 then put 30 minutes back on. Maybe the oven knew better than the recipe. They were very charred; a little TOO many burnt ends, so maybe it should have been 30 minutes less after all. Also, the steps for the short ribs were not super descriptive and there’s one instruction like “pour wine in the pan and deglaze” - I get it, but the pan is literally 700 degrees. Should I carry it inside? Deglaze INSIDE the oven? And when I pour red wine on a 700 degree metal surface, it instantly evaporates! So we could’ve used more detail in the instructions. I will do my own research and find some good tutorials online. The short ribs were a LOT of effort and tasted good, but not great. Probably will get better with some more experimentation.
Be sure to invest in 2 things:
1. A SERIOUS pair of oven/grill gloves with long arm gauntlets and individual fingers that can handle 800+ degrees for more than a few seconds. We set one of those old-school, silver, quilted-style oven mittens on fire just removing the pan from 700 degrees. I have a pair of those Kevlar and silicone gloves, and I can feel VERY HIGH heat in just a few seconds at 700; especially thru the cracks of the silicone strips. Very dangerous to underestimate how hot this gets.
2. Very sturdy tongs. They don’t need to be super long, in fact, I would not recommend super long as they are more unwieldy to do some delicate things like flip over individual short ribs in the back of the oven pan. They just need to have really good grip and not be floppy. Same with any other utensils you use in there. Plastic will melt instantly so be mindful.
We've only used the pellet part once so for the short ribs, but it’s very easy to add pellets at any time if you want a deeper, smokier flavor and they definitely worked with the short ribs.
It gets really, really hot so be sure your grill or oven mitts can handle it. And be sure your deck or patio is very level. Some meats have a lot of oil and if it starts to spill over just because of a little slope, that could be bad.
Definitely also recommend getting the cover and the stand (sold separately). It’s an outdoor oven, but there are electronics, so I wouldn’t feel good leaving it in the rain without a cover.
Looking forward to exploring more dishes with this.

Overall a great case as long as it holds up! 1st one got a crack at the power button within 2 weeks. The plastic there is just too small/not sturdy enough and I barely used it. You almost never even use the power button because it automatically comes on and off when you open and close the case. Lots of others had this same problem. On my 2nd one - 2 weeks in (so far so good, but being really gentle with it just in case.)
Otherwise a great case. Good viewing angle, great form factor, super light so it doesn't bulk up your iPad air. Keyboard takes some getting used to and keys are in weird places, but much better for typing than the on screen keyboard. Nice slim package, lets you type better, easy access to the camera, power, and charging port. Good viewing angle. Note the only slimmer full case was the OEM Appple iPad full case which I tried 1st, but it was worthless. The only viewing angles on that one were basically flat and 90 degrees so not usuable at all. Go with this one instead and careful with the area of plastic by the power button.
2nd one cracked also at the power button!!!

A few days after I wrote this review, the 2nd case broke in the exact same spot at the power button. Again, never even used the power button as it isn't needed. Serious design flaw. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Wemo WiFi Smart Outdoor Plug gives you total smart control over your lights, holiday decorations and other outdoor devices. Featuring two splash-proof and weather-resistant outlets, you can set schedules and control two devices together from anywhere by using the app or your voice with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, or Hey Google.* It’s perfect for the patio, yard or other spaces where you’d like to manage electric outlets. You can also use Away Mode to randomly turn porch or landscape lights on and off when you’re not home. Sync lights connected to the Smart Outdoor Plug with the sunset and you’ll walk out to a backyard that’s ready for evening activities.

I actually have 3 questions. Is this device gfi protected? Can I control each outlet separately? I’ve yet to see a straight answer on that question What are the current and temperature ratings for the device?

No it is not GFCI, but most places require outdoor outlets to be on a GFCI in that circuit so should be covered by your GFCI outlets. No, it turns both plugs on/off simultaneously. Not sure on it's temperature rating. Didn't see any details on that in the manual.- only that it is IP44 rated.

Meet Talk GO, JLab’s compact, lightweight, and portable USB microphone. With 2 studio-quality condensers and a generous resolution of 96kHz/24BIT, this is a great entry level microphone for all around use with high performance. The Talk GO has 2 directional pattern modes to choose from and has volume and mute controls, making it great for calls, podcasts, gaming, ASMR and voiceovers using its two directional pattern modes.

Does it use an aux cord

It is USB connection only for connecting to your PC/Mac. There is a 3.5 aux jack on the bottom of the mic for connecting a 3.5mm headset for listening if desired. Instead I just use the output of my PC speakers to hear others on my meetings/web calls.

Cut The Cord with AirTV Player. Stream movies, TV, music and other content using a wide range of apps, including Netflix, SlingTV, Google Play and many more from the Google Play Store all with AirTV Player. AirTV’s streaming platform integrates local over-the-air (OTA) programming with your streaming services. The AirTV Adapter and an OTA antenna provide local channels like ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX, without a monthly cable bill.

I’m confused. How/ where does it get ota channels? Is there an antenna that comes with it? Similar to the digital antenna I use now for local channels? Or does it get the local ota channels and stream to device via the internet?

If you have an OTA antenna already you will be all set. Just unscrew the OTA coax cable from your TV and connect it to the OTA AirTV adapter (included with this item.) Then it will show the locals right in the AirTV/SlingTV same guide.

Apartment use. Currently have a TimeWarner modem router and an extender in living room. parts of living room are slow and gaps. will these replace the modem router and will range be better?

I would say yes. Our speeds tripled in the areas of our home that were slower (3rd floor and basement) from 20-27mbps to 63mbps.

I have a house built in 1930 and it is 1000 sq. ft. up and 1000 sq. ft. basement. I have 2 wifi extenders because of the solid brick and plaster walls to pick up better signal in dead areas. I currently have a Netgear 55 router. Would this work better?

I would say yes based on my results. Before I installed the Orbi I ran 5 separate speed tests on my laptop in various parts of our home. (3 story house - 2700 sq. ft).

I ran tests from each floor on my existing router (TP Link WR1043ND - a 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router). Speeds averaged 43.76Mbps down and 4.35Mbps upload.

After I installed the Orbi, I re-ran the same speed tests in the same locations and speeds now average 62.83Mbps down and 5.80Mbps upload. Significantly faster!

The 2 spots in the house - top floor and basement both went from 28.56Mbps and 21.72 to 64.33 and 63.46 - so much better coverage and the Orbi's base + satellite coverage now provides equal coverage thoughout the entire home.
