Easy to use and it seems accurate
on January 7, 2019

Ive been using the Dario Blood Glucose monitor of 4 days now. So far I like it, but have one complaint. The spring loaded lancet is very hit and miss. I adjusted the depth all the way up to the highest number which is four, and have to make at least three attempts before I can get it to penetrate the skin. But other than that I have no issues with the device. It is easy to use, and the instructions are very good. I downloaded the app, signed up for the required account and took my first reading. The device gave me a reading that is consistent with my normal readings. The nice thing about the device is that 100 test strips and 100 lancets were included which will give me adequate testing and time to determine if this is a long term solution for me.
I would certainly recommend it for those who need to monitor their blood sugar, but would just caution that the spring loaded lancet may be hit and miss which is kind of a disappointment for me at least.

Very nice, but one issue
on January 7, 2019

The Norelco S900 shaver is a very nice and elegant looking shaver. It comes with a wireless charger which is fantastic, and charges fairly quick. The issue I had is with the three head blades. I was able to get a very close shave but I have a goatee and this is where the issue for me is. The shaver will not shave close enough to the lines of my beard with out grabbing and pulling the hair of the beard. I ended up having to finish up with another razor to get a complete shave. I tried the included trimmer and it was ok, but it did pull hair as well.
The shaver comes in a very nice but bulky case and complete instructions. I would think this shaver would be perfect for someone who has no beard, but for those of us with beards, it is just not quite the best option.

Very Cool Headphones, literally
on December 11, 2018
Posted by: niteryder

Ive been using these HP Omen headphones for several days now and really like them. First off there is just one con to these headphones, but not enough to cause me to lower my rating. They are just a bit heavier that I like, but that is my only issue. Now for the pluses. These are comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time. Ive had them on for over two hours at a time and did not experience any discomfort. Second, I just plugged in and I was up and running. You can download the Omen Command Center for more custom control of these headphones, but for me plug and play was perfect. Next, the HP Omen has a technology called Frost Cap which provides thermoelectric cooling to keep heat away from your ears, and it works fantastic. I kept feeling my ears getting cool and removed the headphones and could feel how cold the inside was. It is cold to the touch and it really works great.
The sound on these headphones I thought, was very good, I had no sound quality issues at all. The microphone is ok, and serviceable. It is nothing special, but does the job. The biggest issue I have with the microphone is the foam cover at the end keeps falling off. It seems every time I touch or move the microphone the foam falls off. I am certain I will lose it at some point, because when I put the headphones away and go back to get them, the foam is off and laying at the bottom of the case I keep them in. Again, not enough for a rating deduction, but something to be aware of. If you are looking for wired gaming headphones, these should fit the bill. I highly recommend them to any and every one.

Very Nice gaming or general use monitor
on December 11, 2018
Posted by: niteryder
from Fresno, CA
Once this arrived I couldn't wait to pair it with the HP gaming tower I recently received. First off, set up is a breeze, it is plug and play, power it up and you are ready right out of the box. There are control buttons an the lower right side of the monitor, but for me, it was perfect right out of the box. I use this monitor set for basic gaming, video and photo editing, and streaming movies, sports etc. So a monitor that can keep up is important. Well the HP LED monitor does not disappoint. A fast 144x refersh rate is fast enough for most any gaming and video streaming. The picture is sharp and clear on this monitor, which makes for a very nice experience when editing video and photos. Of course Ive only used the monitor for just a few days, but so far it has been excellent and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a gaming or just general purpose monitor. This will not disappoint.

Best Slow Cooker I've used
on December 6, 2018
Posted by: niteryder
from Fresno, CA
Had the chance to cook three meals in this cooker and all I can say is, it's very good. I was using a slow cooker we've had for over 25 years, the Calphalon is light years ahead. The shape is a bit different than what most are used to, this is more round than the old oval shaped cookers. It will also go from the cooker to the stove top or the oven, if need be. But I specifically use it for slow cooking. Just set it and forget it, with easy to use controls. It will not over cook your roast and will witch from high to low at the end of the cooking cycle. Ive cooked a pot roast, beef stew and a pork roast and all three were cooked to perfection. I was concerned that the round shape would affect what would fit, but I easily put a 4 LB roast in it with potatoes and carrots with no issues at all.
My next project is a slow cooked Prime Rib that's coming for Christmas. Yes get out of the stone age and upgrade to this modern slow cooker, you wont regret it.

Powerful Desktop for all your Needs

I'm not going to go into the specs of this device, I'm just going to give my experience using this machine. First off, this is a very nice looking machine, brushed aluminum look, and not very big. I use this for some gaming, watching videos and editing photos and video. with 16GB of RAM this is more than enough for any of the above. Games are very smooth, no jumping, or lagging, graphics are awesome. Watching videos is a pleasure, I have had zero issues, the videos play smoothly, with no lagging, no issues at all. Finally photo and video editing, just wow. So far this is the most powerful machine I have ever used for photo/video editing. Tasks are unbelievably fast, quick from task to task, I use Photoshop, Premiere Elements and the latest version of Photomatix. All of these programs are incredibly fast, smooth, and a pleasure to use. 1 TB of storage gives ample room to store large files, and all the videos and photos you'll ever need to. If you are in need of an able gaming, video/photo editing, and smooth consumption device, this is your machine. I cannot recommend any higher.

A Beautifully Powerful Machine
on November 14, 2018
Posted by: niteryder

First off this is just the most elegant device I have ever had my hands on. I was totally blown away when I received this device. Everything about it is first class, from the packaging, to the leather covering, and the slim size. I just can't say enough good things about the design of this 2-in-1 machine.
Looks are one thing, but how does it perform? Well so far it performs as good as it looks, in my opinion at least. It packs an 8th Gen i7 Intel processor and 8 GB or RAM which has easily handled any task I put to it. I originally thought I would use this as my main PC while working in the field, but I cannot stand the thought of this elegant device in some of the places I have to work from. So it will stay far away from that and will be used as my go to PC at home. I intend to use it to do some moderate household work, some photo and video editing and of course browsing the web. Reading on this device is a pleasure with a bright crisp screen. I used this machine to watch the NFL last Sunday, and was impressed at how well it performed. No lag that I could see, and the Bang & Olufsen built in speakers were terrific. I'm also amazed by how much quality sound comes out of such small speakers, this is a very thin device. I've always had complaints about how small and difficult to use the keyboards are on smaller devices. Not on this device though, The keyboard is a hard plastic and is the perfect size. I'm typing this review using the Spectre Folio keyboard and I have had zero missed keys, so far.
The Spectre Folio came with an HP pen, USB-C charger and a, I guess Dongle, that plugs into the USB-C ports and allows you to connect normal USB device. There are 3 USB-C ports and from what I've experienced they will all charge the Spectre Folio. The ergonomics of this device are terrific, you can open it and use it like any laptop you are used to, or convert it by folding the screen down and using it as a tablet. The nice thing about this is when you fold the screen down you are asked if you would like to switch to Tablet Mode and vice-versa when you go back to using it normally, a very nice touch from Windows 10 and HP. I am using Face Recognition to log in and so far it has been almost flawless. The only time it did not recognize me was when I was wearing my Minnesota Vikings, Go Vikes! hat. Maybe it is not a Vikings fan? I don't know. But every other time, even in lower lighting it has worked.
I have not had much opportunity to use the included HP pen, but for the little time I have used it, it seems to be very responsive. It has two buttons on the side which allow you to program it to perform different functions, but I'm just using it with the default settings and they work excellent. I'm still looking through the Microsoft store for apps that work with the pen and Windows Ink. I've haven't found any so far that have really jumped out, but I've not spent a lot of time looking either.
So far battery life has been good, I usually get a full day of use, and for me that is 8 - 10 hours with battery to spare. Which brings me to my one concern with this Machine. I just don't see any way to replace the battery, which would mean that when the life of the battery is depleted you would need to be connected to power to use it, and then you really don't have a portable device anymore. I have not researched replacing the battery, so perhaps this is a lot of to do about nothing, I'll have to check into that.
All in all I am very happy with the HP Spectre Folio, of all the PC's Ive ever owned, this is my favorite. It is such a beautifully elegant device and worthy of adding to anyone's home. Yes I highly recommend it and am so grateful to have the opportunity to own this beautiful device.

I’ve used the Linksys Velop system for about 5 days now. It’s performs on par with my current system and really does not appear to have increased my WiFi coverage in my home. Set up was easy, with no issues. I just downloaded the app and followed along, it was painless with no hiccups. I figured with the 3 nodes I would see increase in my WiFi signals in the far end of my home. I did see stronger signals, but no real increase in WiFi performance. Perhaps in a much larger house it might be the ticket, but for me it seems that my WiFi is where is was and no better.

Don't Think There is anything better
on November 5, 2018
Posted by: niteryder
from Fresno, CA
Ive tried several, movie making, slide creating software programs, but I just don't think anything else comes close to Adobe Premiere Elements. As always download and installation of Adobe products is very easy and straightforward, no issues for me. Although getting up and running is not too difficult, there is a bit of a learning curve with Premiere Elements, but this should really be no problem as there are literally hundreds of tutorials available in cyberland.
I chose to create a short movie with some video clips I had from my last years vacation videos, and as I expected it turned out great. But the real test was a project my daughter is doing for school. With a little assistance from me, she was able to create a moving and powerful movie for her project. I was blown away at how professional it looked. I cant imagine there is anything, except your own imagination that would hold you back from creating whatever masterpiece you desire. If you are looking and in doubt, get Premiere Elements, you wont be disappointed. I can and do highly recommend it.

Powerful cordless Vacuum
on November 2, 2018
Posted by: niteryder
from Fresno, CA
I was really looking forward to getting this vacuum to see how it would perform compared to a traditional vacuum. I made sure to fully charge it up before putting it to the test. It came partially charged from the factory, and only took about 1 1/2 hours to fully charge.
I was a little surprised at how quiet it was, which made me wonder how it would perform. Well let me just say it seems to be just as powerful as a plug in vacuum. I went over my heavy traffic areas where my kids and dogs go in and out of the house, and the cordless Shark picked up fantastically. Afterwards I vacuumed the entire house. My house is 2000 sq ft and the battery was right below 1/2 charge. Next it was time to use the included attachments, these are a crevice tool, an upholstery tool and a dusting brush. Still on the same original charge, I was able to go around the house and hit all the nooks and crannies. Again the Shark was up to the task.
All in all, this Shark is a terrific vacuum that can almost be a replacement for a corded vacuum. The only thing that prevents this is the size of the dust bin, which is small and fills up fast. I had to stop and empty it at least 5 times. But if you need to do just one or two rooms, this will do the job, and do it well.

Real consumer review!!! Read this and learn...
By Breaker11
This review only applies to all DSLR users that plans to transition over to the Sony A-series. I bought this camera and returned it the next day. DO NOT buy this camera. It looks good on paper until you've actually tried it. PERIOD!
Pros: price package <$1000 with 2 kit lenses. It has WIFI and NFC capabilities. It is portable and cheap battery availability. Fair pictures and can be compared to point and shoot camera qualities :). The low light quality is fair. If you are a landscape lover - you'll get away with the kit lenses. You can charge the batt via USB connection.
Cons: you'll end up spending more money on the adapter in order for you to use your old lenses or buy buy new e mount lenses. The pictures looks very soft and can't zoom to crop - picture quality is is horrible for a mirrorless camera. A Nikon D3200 can do a lot better job in general (trust me- I did a comparison - wit kit lense). All false claims of fast moving auto focus and fake 24.3 mega pixels. The camera over heats for a period of long usage - and short batt life.

I could not disagree more
October 28, 2016
With your assessment of the Sony a6000. Anyone who says the picture quality is comparable to Point & Shoot cameras has never used this camera. First, the Sony sensor is much better than even the best P&S cameras. Second if you are getting poor quality photos from this camera, the problem is not the camera, but most likely a lack of operator experience and knowledge. Photos are razor sharp, and auto focus is one of the best I've used.
I was a Nikon user, DSLR/SLR, for many years and can say from experience that almost nothing the reviewer states is accurate. The Sony system is incredible and I could not be happier that I switched from Nikon.

Not ready for Home security
By niteryder from Fresno, CA
I received this last week and have had about 6 days to use it. The system arrived well packaged and easy to get out and set up.
Set up took just a few minutes, batteries came fully charged from factory, nice. Package consisted of 2 cameras, 2 batteries, 2 domed mounts, charging cable, charger, base station and quick start instructions. Pairing the cameras with base station was quick and no issues.
I mounted the cameras, downloaded the required app, and was up and running.
Then the problems started, one camera continually disconnected from base station. This required climbing up to where it was mounted and take it down and re-pair it with base station. After the 3rd time I connected NetGear customer service. They emailed me with possible solutions which I tried but did not work. Within 5 minutes the camera had lost connection again. This camera was located about 25 ft from base station, so I ended up moving it closer to base station where it has stayed connected. This is not a good solution because the cameras are now too close together and cannot provide coverage to my entire front of house. I found these cameras lose connection if they are further than 15 feet from base station. This is impractical if you are looking for good coverage of an average house.
The other issue is battery life, I'm only getting about 3-4 days of use before a recharge is needed. Now cameras are mounted near roof which requires me to have to climb to the roof every 3-4 days to recharge.
In conclusion, the system is not reliable enough, will not provide adequate coverage, and battery life is not good enough to be a viable home security camera system.
When the system is working it does what it is designed to do. It just is not reliable enough for me to recommend. Customer service is also a bit slow, and combined with the poor camera system this is not recommended.

I sold my Nikon D5300 for this..and no Regrets
By Flashoser from Cadott, WI
I love this Camera and I got the Kit with Sony Bag and Extra Lens 55-210 Zoom , I sold my D5300 Nikon, and this camera blows it away, and with the Sony Play Memories Apps you can get for it, I was able to do Time Lapses that move! Pan, Zoom etc.., and All kinds of other nifty programs you can buy, like Star Trails, Fun! and the Pictures blow my mind! The Kit Lens is Just Awesome, don't let people tell you that they just think every kit lens sucks, go on Facebook and look up the sony A6000 group, over 11,000 members and see their pictures with kit lens, just amazing, most popular Camera out there I believe.. Mirrorless! is the way to go, glad i did not invest in Nikon lenses, but you can buy and adapter and use other brand lenses with this camera!!

There seems to be some complaints about the frame sliding off the neck and the buds coming out, is this common?

I use mine under my motorcycle helmet and I put them in just before I go to bed. Not once have the frame even felt like it may be coming apart. I tend to thrash around a lot when I sleep, if they can stand up to that, I'm confident they can handle just about anything.
