I took my kids to see this because it looked like it might be fun, but we didn't really expect much. WOW, were we ever surprised! The music (85 songs are sung in this movie!), the depth of the characters and their personal stories, the main story going in directions we didn't really anticipate...it all made for a fantastic surprise!
There's also incredible lessons of trust, love, and believing in yourself. Not only is this movie a Must-See for everyone, but all ages will be absolutely swept away and have a fantastic time!!!

In “Hidden Figures ", we have the stories of three famous black women who made history. All, three, remarkable in their mathematical and computer intelligence, worked for NASA in the Colored Computer program. These women knew their work and knew their worth, but had two strikes against them, one they were women, two, they were black. We meet them at work and at home and get to know them personally, that is the brilliance of this film.
We meet Dorothy Vaughan, played by Octavia Spencer. She is acting Supervisor of the Colored Computer division. She was not deemed worthy of the actual title because she was black. Tataji P. Henson plays Katherine Jackson, widowed mother of three girls. She is the mathematical genius, and is asked to work on the plans for getting the US's space program working. Their colleague, Mary Jackson, played by Janelle Monae, goes on to become the first black engineer at NASA. Their workplace difficulties were caused by their race, and this film makes it quite apparent what these women went through with their quiet dignity. Al Harrison, played by Kevin Costner, is their boss. He noted Katherine's brilliance and used her to lead the program. However, it was the other white men and women who held her back, never noting her work, nor the fact she had to walk a mile to the only colored restrooms. This film brings the racism alive but in a quiet manner. We see it, we weep our tears, but they kept themselves together.

It's a fun movie about weird characters played top-notch actors. It's a movie that fully embraces the look and feel of a superhero comic-book. And the soundtrack's great. What more do you want? I've seen this movie three times by now and I've enjoyed it all three times. In fact, it's gotten better with each viewing. What stands out to me on my latest viewing is that Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and the rest are truly talented performers. Warner/DC have got themselves a remarkable squad here and I hope they get to return plenty of times in the future. If I had to be fair and complain about one thing about the film, it's that the action scenes are just okay standard action-movie quality - which is fine - but it's not on the same level as the gorgeously shot and exquisitely choreographed Zack Snyder-style we've seen in the other DC movies.

The courage of WW2 soldiers

This is one of the better war movies I have ever seen. It does an excellent job of showing the courage of WW2 soldiers, while giving you a realistic view of the horrors of war and the effects it has on all soldiers. I have a 4K smart tv that upconverts all input, which resulted in a graphically beautiful picture. This movie is definitely worth the price of admission.

I love the Guardians of the Galaxy because there was a lot of creative reality in this film, watching our beloved super heroes doing outrageously normal things that real people do. I have never personally read the comic series, but this is a fantastic Marvel movie with fantastic actors all throughout! Set in the timeline where the guardians first meet, it's up them to save the day as they cross path with an infinity stone.

These are not the greatest in the world in terms of durability, however, I cannot find a pair of expendable earbuds for a similar price that matches these Skullcandy's sound quality. If you want these to last, keep them out of your pockets where you can crush the mic/button and don't stretch out the wires by tugging on them or wrapping them around your phone/mp3 while they are still plugged in. Take care of the earbuds and they will last forever and provide a great quality of sound for the price range.

My first Fitbit device

This was my first Fitbit device, and I am very pleased with its performance. I had debated getting the Flex 2 or the Alta, but chose the Flex 2 for its slim profile, waterproof design, and lower price point. I have yet to incur water damage, and the five-light design is very minimalist yet informative.
One of the main reasons for purchasing a Fitbit was for the silent alarms, as my alarm would annoy both my roommate and me in the mornings. Although I at first set backup alarms on my phone, I turned them off as I realized the Flex 2 had very strong vibrations that have never failed to wake me up in nearly a month's use.
A common complaint is the press-on design of the band, and at first, I was disappointed at how difficult it was to put this on. However, after use, it became much more comfortable to put it on, but not to the point where I felt it was in danger of falling off by itself.

A Solid Point of Sale Gizmo

This is a solid Point of Sale gizmo for those who need to sell their goods and/or services while taking credit. Square has been an innovator in this industry and this reader is more proof, but the product needs some work. The package comes with a cable, the chip and NFC reader, as well as the separate swipe reader. The swipe reader is the same one they've had for years... but the chip & NFC reader (which works with both Android Pay and Apple Pay) is a solid looking and feeling gizmo. It looks and feels very much like a product made by Apple.
The less than 5 star review is due to two issues: the iffy/inconsistent connectivity, and the super-easy-to-steal nature of this gizmo. Any bit of a delay seems to cause the bluetooth connection to be lost. I have an iPhone.

Disney has restored this all-time classic to its original brilliance. The universal themes of love, family, friendship and good vs. evil make this educational and enjoyable. Yes, there are some quite scary scenes and evil is shown for what it is. However, just as in most fairy tales, good triumphs over evil in the end.
The story is told by Jiminy Cricket and the start of the movie is peaceful. He arrives at Geppetto's home where there are music boxes, toys, amazing clocks and a puppet who is just "all strings and joints." Geppetto is just painting on the finishing touches before he heads off to bed. The "cutest" black and white cat named Figaro adds warmth and amusement to the story. The sassy fish Cleo is a visual delight.
As the woodcarver drifts off to sleep, he says: "Wouldn't it be nice if he was a real boy?" He then sends Figaro to open the window and sees a wishing star. He makes a wish and while he sleeps, the Blue Fairy brings the Marionette Pinocchio to life. He then must learn to have a conscience, so it is decided that Jiminy Cricket will be his guide so he will know what is good and what is evil.
