It took me a few plays to kind of get used to the difference in material for Fantasia on this cd. There are a lot of influences on this album. It's less hip-hop and much more r&b and even blues oriented than usual and it ends with a stirring gospel song. But her voice doesn't disappoint at all, in fact it's as strong as ever. I think it's one of her better albums in awhile but if you are expecting something more hip-hop you're in for a surprise. But I think you will it a pleasant one.
Very smooth album. Macy's voice is in great shape. It's a big departure if you expecting the old Macy but if you don't mind hearing something new from her you won't be disappointed. The great new take on "I Try" is the highlight.
Eddie Levert is still in his prime! As long as he's been around, he's still making sweet soul music. His voice is as strong as ever and the material does not disappoint. Did I Make You Go Ooh is the best song on the cd. It's like a classic O'Jays song. But the rest is solid as well. If you are a fan of Eddie, the O'Jays or his son Gerald Levert, you will dig this album.
It's good. But not as great as some of the other reviewers think IMHO. The songs all have a sameness about them that I didn't expect and I just couldn't hear other reviewers comparisons to early Prince. Maybe some in his voice not certainly not in song structure or creativity. Good, just overhyped.
If you like Keith Sweat. You will love this album. It's a great album for fans but there's not a lot new there for new listeners. No risks, Just solid Keith Sweat.
