This is a strong outing by Ms. Johnson. Very enjoyable listening. Reading other reviews I have to admit I thought it would be a classic as they have been extremely positive. Imho it's just really really good. But it's still basically a well done album of covers. I recommend it but perhaps not as much as some reviews would lead you to believe.
Having all but one song on this cd already made me hesitate to buy it. Caught it at a good sale price here on Best Buy and played all Halloween week. That was cool but you already have these songs (like I did) not worth the full price.
I had never heard of Binky Womack before this album but I'll be on the lookout for anything else he does. This is a really nice album, particularly for us old school fans. His voice is eerily reminiscent of his late, great uncle and he uses it to full effect, evoking memories of Bobby with updated twists. He even starts off his songs with a little spoken intro like his uncle. If you are missing that great Womack Style--you can certainly hear it here.

Easily the best cd I've heard this year. This a fantastic cd. Her voice is fantastic and the arrangements and song selections are adventurous and exciting. I think my favorite may be a swing version of the old Rose Royce song I'm Going Down. The version is incredible and if you don't know the song you may not recognize it. But it's fabulous. Personally I don't think any jazz or traditional R&B fan who gets this cd will be disappointed.
This is great cd for fans of old-school soul music with a blues tint. Leesa James sound like old school Betty Wright, Jean Knight or (if I may be so bold) Etta James. Back in the day popular soul music could have a blues feel and still get played on the radio. Strongly recommended.
Pretty good but I guess I expected more. Songs were all solid and there were certainly no bad songs but I guess I expected more that sticks in my head or makes me stop and go "Wow"! All good, just not as great as expected.
Pretty good effort but I was expecting something a little more jazz-bluesy and a little less poppy. Still a couple of really good songs (Me, Myself and I and Miss You When I'm Drunk) save this too short ep.
I really enjoyed this cd. I like Eric Roberson but I'm not a huge fan. A few more like this and I could become one. Good tunes with depth and meaning. Very spiritual without being overbearing. My favorite cut is the catchy Million Dollars. But it's all great. Only bad point is it's only a six song ep and really leaves you wanting more.
