Good, not great, ending to the trilogy

A fine ending to the trilogy and I enjoyed it more than the previous two installments, but like the first two it deviates quite a bit from the book, sometimes for the better but sometimes for the worse. As a movie, its great; but as a movie based on a book, its only fair.

Improved 3DS

Improved 3DS model with faster processor, better 3D, improved controls, and a built-in NFC panel for Amiibo support. The processor upgrade isn't terribly useful yet but it'll eventually allow for New 3DS-specific games that require more power than the old unit. The stereospcopic front-facing camera can now track your eyes, providing for a 3D picture that doesn't fade out if the unit is tilted or you move your head - not perfect though as if you close an eye for a second or scratch your face it can cause the 3D to flicker as it loses track of your eye. The controls are now laid out in the same fashion as a Wii U gamepad, which will allow for greater cross-compataibility between games like Smash Bros. The new L2 and R2 buttons are a welcome addition but the right hand C stick seems stiff and doesn't repond as easily as either left hand control. It may be relegated to secondary purposes like rotating the camera angle, as in Majora's Mask 3D. Overall well worth the $25 price over the previous model.

Online Multiplayer Requirement

Pretty much needed to take advantage of the Xbox 360 and Xbox One's potential, such as online multiplyer.
Comes with lots of free games and other stuff to help justify the cost.
Best to get these when they go on sale (which seems to be several times a year.) Better deal than buying four 3-month cards.

High quality and feature-rich update over Xbox 360
on November 22, 2014
Posted by: JDG00
from Chattanooga, TN
Verified Purchase:Yes
Pros:
* Good quality, 3D capable BluRay drive built-in (requires free download from Live store to play BluRay or DVD discs)
* Console looks more professional in home theater environment than the oddly shaped 360.
* Instant On for standby power control so console turns on much quicker.
* Kinect is much improved over 360 versions, with better visual recognition and voice support.
* Slight refinements to controller for better thumb positioning. Much lighter. (And still much more natural than a Playstation controller.)
* TV input via HDMI to allow game and TV viewing at same time. Also support games and browser viewing simultaneously.
Cons:
* Not backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games
* 720p resolution for most games as opposed to full HD 1080p
* Required update upon initial setup is very large (almost 900 MB)
* Console should not be stood on end like 360. It physically can, but doing so blocks a fan and the unit will overheat. If Microsoft didn't want it stood on end they should have designed it so it couldn't with a different bezel, or a curved or slanted shape on ends.
* Assassin's Creed Unity is very slow starting compared to Black Flag. A couple of hours in now and it hasn't captured my excitement in the same way yet.
* Unity is also rather buggy. Facial graphics flicker too often; hand placement during climbs sometimes appear to grab thin air; too many times your climbing gets stuck where you can't move up, down, left, or right without changing camera angle.
Note that the included games, Unity, Black Flag, and Dance Central Spotlight are not physical discs but download codes. You'll need a Live account to download. (Comes with two 14 day subscription cards if needed.) Black Flag is 1.5 GB and Unity is nearly 5 GB so it takes some time to download and install these games.

Good followup to Avengers, nice tie-in to Agents

A nice followup to Avengers, and ties in well with the last few episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1. Captain America and NIck Fury storylines are great, but the Black Widow and Falcon stories seem to drag on a bit. Definately more of an adult-oriented film than the fun-for-all-ages first Cap film. If you liked Avengers or Agents, you'll enjoy Winter Soldier. If you liked Captain America: The First Avenger and not those two, then you probably wouldn't like this one.

Players, start your engines. It's time to once again get on the racing circuit and compete against characters from the Mushroom Kingdom that you know and love. For the first time on the Nintendo Wii U console, you get to experience the racing action that has been a fan favorite for years, with a few added features to keep things interesting. So buckle up, push the pedal to the floor and get ready to turn this classic racing experience upside down. With new racing circuits, new gameplay features and a stunning new look, Mario Kart 8 certainly lives up to the legacy. The new anti-gravity feature will have you suddenly finding yourself racing on walls in a haunted mansion or upside-down over Princess Peach's castle — not to worry, the wheels on your kart will automatically rotate and shift into antigravity gear for an awesome racing element that allows mind-blowing new circuit designs. The previous games in the Mario Kart franchise introduced some amazing features, so they're back for more in Mario Kart 8. You can still see who's got what it takes in 12-player online competitive play. Hang gliders and motorbikes are back, as well as underwater racing and mid-air tricks, while Waluigi and Toadette rejoin the cast of characters. As the icing on the cake, the crisp, high-definition graphics and 60-frames-per-second frame rate of your Nintendo Wii U ensure a visually stunning and vibrant gameplay experience that you won't soon forget.

Big improvement over Mario Kart Wii

Fixes major playability problems with the last console version, Mario Kart Wii (aka, MK 6), by providing less places to run off course in the form of more side walls and greatly decreasing the time it takes to get back on course after falling off. MK Wii always devolved into a race to see who keep from falling off the longest at end of lap 3 and that decided the winner more than anything else. Now, its back to picking good racing lines and making good use of your pickups, as it should be. Nice new speed bonus acquired for performing a show-off move during jumps. 12 racers now instead of 8, but courses are much wider to accomodate this so items like banana peels are less useful now as there are fewer bottlenecks to use them effectively. Very easy at the 50cc level. Absolutely no plot - just races.

Pretty, but messes with the narrative too much

Somewhat disappointing if you're a big fan of the book, otherwise highly enjoyable. I just wished some key scenes were left alone. In particular, the first time Bilbo goes in to the mountain and confronts Smaug is one of the best parts of the book, as Smaug stuggles to uncover Bilbo, who he can't see and doesn't recognize the smell. The movie blows it by uncovering Bilbo almost right away, completely drops the reasoning for why he was brought in as a burgler and the scene where he returns to the dwarves with a token of his success, has the dwarves in a completely imagined battle with the dragon, and then has to retcon why Smaug would turn his fury away from Bilbo and the dwarves and to Esgaroth instead. This whole sequence made excellent sense in the book, and while the new plot is a fun adventure to see on screen, its poorer storytelling.

Final Fantasy series lovers will enjoy

Great RPG game for those that love the classic Final Fantasy series games. Lots of difficulty options and a huge number of job classes. Takes full advantage of 3DS capabilities to give a very good graphical and aural experience (although some graphics clipping occurs during battles, often with the special moves wearing certain job class outfits.) Not for kids though - its very long (100+ hours), requires alot of grinding to keep your characters at a sufficient level to topple the baddies, and requires a high school reading level. The T for Teen rating is appropriate. Excellent online features involving sharing special moves with internet friends and inviting them to help rebuild your town to acquire new weapons, armor, and powerful moves. It will even find random internet friends, avoiding the StreetPass-only problems that restrict the online features of similar games like Dragon Quest IX.
If you're still on the fence you can download a free demo from the Nintendo e-shop.

What is the difference between UN46D6003SF and the UN46D6000SF?

Basically nothing. Samsung changes the last digit of the model number for certain large customers, but there is nothing internally different. Its primarily a deterrent for price-matching, in which most stores require an exact product number match.

What is Hz? and what level of Hz gives the smoothest motion?

Hertz (Hz) is a measure of frequency, particuarly the numbrof times something occurs per second. The human eye can resolve movement at around 30 frames per second (or 30Hz). Most LED TVs display at (minimum) 60Hz to disguise movement and appear less jagged or blurry. Higher end TVs will increase the refresh rate to even higher levels, but divisible by 60Hz for hardware and singal simplicity. The higher the level, the better the picture should be, but its only apparent in really fast moving pictures (action films, etc.)

How come my TV shows 1080/480p but we bought TV at 1080/120?

Doesnt sound like the same thing. 1080p, 1080i, 720p, and 480i are resolutions (vertical number of pixels followed by an i for interlaced or p for progessive mode)

120 probably refers to refresh rate of 120Hz, meaning 120 frames are displayed per second. The faster the refresh rate, the less blurry movement on screen appears.

Most likely, you've bought a 1080p TV (which probably also supports 720p and 480i, as most do) that has a refresh rate of 120Hz. TV might simply be saying that it's displaying HD content at 1080p and regular definition content at a psuedo-480p (a 480i singal that is rendered across two frames due to the "double rate" of 120Hz over the normal 60Hz rate)

I use a mobile hotspot through my Verizon Wireless Droid for my laptop internet connection. Can I use the same for my smart TV?

Presumably yes. The TV should act just like any other IPv4 (or IPv6) internet-capable device with DHCP. But note that videos are heavy bandwidth consumers and will can drain a mobile plan dry after just a few movies. A standard unlimited bandwidth internet service provider is a better fit for Smart TVs.

better sound without audio jacks from TV?

I have a 46" LCD Samsung TV that does not have audio out jacks on the back of it.I have u-verse TV with a DVR that has audio out jacks. Can I hook up a sound bar through my DVR for better sound?
You should be able to connect the audio out from your uverse box to a soundbar, but "better" is subjective. A good quality TV (like Samsung) may have better sounding audio in its built-in speakers than a low quality soundbar (though probably wont be as powerful as a soundbar, as TV speakers are usually in the 5-20 watt range)

smart tv

i have internet already ,do i have to pay extra i a buy a smart tv?
No. There should be no extra cost to use a Smart TV than any other internet connected device on your home network (like laptops, tablets, and smartphones.) Generally speaking, you'll need a wireless router though as its not always possible to run a hardwire line to the TV (assuming the TV even supports wired mode)

how do you surf the net on a smart tv with out a key board

how do you surf the net with a smart tv with no key board
There will be an onscreen keyboard that is controlled by the remote, where you move the caret left and right and up and down using the remote. Pressing another button on the remote will select that character. Exactly how it works depends on the brand.
Newer TVs are coming with remotes that give fine enough control to function like a mouse and while they use the same on screen keyboard, it simplifies the action to point and click.

Samsung 55' 6000

Just bought this and not sure why it says 1280x720p/60p when I turn on the TV. Thought it was 1080p. Can someone help me figure this out. Thanks.
Samsung TVs identify the resolution from source input signal. You need to change the output signal resolution on your cable/satellite box. Note that alot of set top boxes only support 720p or 1080i (and usually 480i as well for standard definition.) To take advantage of 1080p you often need a BluRay player, a regular DVD player than can upscale content to 1080p, a modern video game system that supports 1080p, or some other device that can present content at 1080p.
