Great Sound for a Very Particular Kind of Listener

The first day I spent with the Accentum earbuds was, admittedly, quite stressful. You see, I have somewhat weird ear canals and a history of being very easily distracted. I am very used to having earbuds suddenly drop out of place until I manage to figure out what the best cushion to use is.
These, however, have no cushions. They are held in your ear with nothing more than friction and positive feelings. And while I am aware that many have gotten used to this with earbuds from other brands I have never trusted myself with those, and spent roughly six hours waiting for them to suddenly fall out and get stepped on. Much to my surprise, however, they did not. Sennheiser appears to have performed some kind of engineering wizardry to make these smooth plastic pods perfectly balanced so that they actually stay where you put them - which seems to be something they are quite good at.
Simply put, these things sound a lot better than most things this small can manage. Audio is remarkably clear and has a surprisingly good range in both directions, making them a pleasure to use regardless of what kind of content you may be listening to at the moment. What's more, they're simple in a way that very few things today are. It was actually a little confusing when I first paired them to my phone and wasn't prompted to immediately install a companion app and create an account. Setup is literally nothing more than pulling them out and clicking a few buttons to run through the pairing process.
Granted, there are some downsides here. No app means no options for tuning the audio to meet your personal preferences, so you're basically going to have to stick with the sound profile Sennheiser picked for you. You also won't find features like active noise cancellation, and the touch controls are quite basic and so far as I can tell probably unconfigurable. I didn't find myself missing any of this while sitting at home or walking around the neighborhood, but I imagine there are a lot of people who, say, regularly commute by train that would consider this to be an immediate dealbreaker. These are basically earbuds for the audiophile luddite community - which I understand is surprisingly large these days. So you might want to be aware of that before deciding if these are the right pick for you.

Great affordable options for ANC earbuds

I don't think JLAB is one of the first brands people tend to think of when looking for earbuds, which can sometimes lead to them getting overlooked. This is, in my opinion, a shame, as they do offer some endearingly rugged and capable products at a very affordable price point. The Go Pods ANC are no exception to that and I think could be a very good pick for your next daily drivers.
First, let's talk about what I liked. The earbuds and their case make very good use of the volume they have to work with, producing a very compact package that's one of the smaller charging cases I've come across. It also features an integral charging cable, making it very convenient to carry around in your pocket or throw in your bag without having to worry about bringing along any supporting parts. The earbuds themselves fit in your ear well and (provided you fit the right size ear cushions) didn't dislodge themselves while I was walking around or engaging in moderate exercise. The noise cancellation is also very capable. Due to some sinus issues I often find that high end noise cancellation can actually end up being uncomfortable after a while as it can create uncomfortable pressure zones inside my ear if they're blocking out everything, while cheaper noise cancellation options just don't do anything to reduce ambient noise. These strike a pretty decent middle ground - countering most of the annoying every day industrial noises produced by air conditioners or car engines without exposing you to too much pressure. I don't know that they'd be my first pick for something like flying, where I think the sheer volume of the sound might overwhelm the earbuds, but to be fair there aren't many earbuds I've found that can compete with over the ear options in that arena either. And battery is also excellent. The package states it can manage over twenty six hours between charges and while I can't say for sure how long mine lasted, they have currently managed to go almost a week on a single charge.
There are a few drawbacks I should point out, though. The sound is a bit weak in the lower ranges, particularly with the noise cancellation active. I mostly use earbuds to listen to audiobooks, podcasts, and other spoken word content so this wasn't really a problem for me but I imagine that a lot of people who listen to more music than me might be a bit disappointed. I also wasn't too impressed by the passthrough option. While it does the job of keeping you aware of what's going on around you the audio you get from it has a synthetic quality that's pretty hard to ignore, and it is usually present regardless of what ambient audio levels are like. As such I found myself generally just pulling out one of the earbuds to leave one ear free rather than messing with it.
Even with those warts though, I am very hard pressed to think of another option that can give you the same price to performance ratio these do. And unlike some of the more expensive out there, if you do happen to shake one out on a trail or in the gym and lose it, replacing it is no big deal. This makes it a very easy recommendation for me for anyone who just needs something that'll work and maybe doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to keeping full sets of earbuds.

Pleasingly Tactile

My first thought after opening up the Kilburn III was that it is VERY good at looking like a classic amp. Marshall's signature design does a fantastic job of camouflaging a very modern and somewhat mundane piece of tech within a retro veneer, which I'm sure for many will be more than enough to convince them to buy it. But for those who are still on the fence, there is quite a lot to love here that goes deeper than styling.
To start, build quality. I haven't generally found much to complain about regarding the build quality of portable Bluetooth speakers, as they all tend to be pretty sturdy, but the Kilburn manages to take things a step further. The speaker is not just sturdy, but seems built to last in a way that I don't think any other speaker I've seen has been. There's a lot of machined metal making up the controls which I imagine should last a bit longer than the typical rubber membranes, the carrying strap is attached using the same kind of button fasteners you'd see on a guitar or small amp, and even the battery (which is positively gargantuan, I'll add) is designed for easy replacement, requiring nothing more complex than basic tools. In a world where everything seems to be moving towards seamless and impenetrable designs, these are features I wouldn't even think to look for anymore and their inclusion is very welcome.
Of course it doesn't really matter how well built the speaker is if it doesn't also sound good, and in my opinion it definitely does. That said it might require some tweaking to get it to sound the way you want. Out of the box it produces a deep sound which feels like it's trying hard to reproduce that analog warmth that is so often in demand. I'll admit my ear has never been particularly good at telling the difference between the genuine thing and a digital fake, but it seemed convincing enough for me. That said there are some cases where I'd prefer the digital sound I'm pumping through it to actually sound digital, and I'm pleased to say that it is possible. The app that comes with the speaker lets you tune the audio (and everything else about the speaker) to a satisfying and at times almost overwhelming degree. My only note on this is that I would recommend installing it before you begin the pairing process, as for some reason the speaker reads as two separate Bluetooth devices and the app did seem to get confused if they were not paired in the order it expects.
Oh, and it can be quite loud. Probably won't surprise anyone there.

Cord Protection

Cord protection and organization was not something I generally thought much about until relatively recently when I brought a small, teething puppy into my home. Honestly I had no idea that there was a product like this, but as soon as I saw it I figured it was worth giving a shot.
First up, I feel I should cover something regarding my particular situation for others who may be looking to protect their pets from chewing on a cord that might end up hurting them: that is definitely not the intended use case. The material is reasonably sturdy but certainly vulnerable to being chewed on, and a smart dog would not have much difficulty prying the top off. That said they are not going to be able to do so quietly, and just getting the cables out of site has greatly reduced the amount of interest the puppy has shown in them, so I'm still considering it a success.
Moving on to what it's actually intended for, namely hiding unsightly rats' nests of wiring, I would say it does the job, but not much more than that. Getting everything into the box required a few tries, particularly with the large wall warts which were somewhat easily dislodged as excess wire was fed in. Because this is just an empty box to stuff things in. If you want to further organize the wiring (which I would recommend, particularly if you want the vents at the top for airflow to do their work or plug anything else into the power strip in the future) you will need to provide your own spools, cable ties, and other accessories.

Decent vacuum, somewhat underwhelming software

I've used Roombas for years, and have generally been very impressed by each new model that comes out. Unfortunately over the years this has resulted in a bit of feature bloat, with each one getting steadily more intimidating and complicated to set up. The 205 feels in some way like the company hitting reset and getting back to basics in a way that doesn't require them to completely drop all the enhancements they've made with a new app, new brushes, and a clever new compactor system. It's an intriguing product that I'll admit I really hoped would win me over, but after spending a week with it I'm both impressed and frustrated in equal measure.
First, let's talk about the good points for the vacuum (and there are a lot.) The last few generations of Roombas have felt like they were making fairly minor changes to an established formula, but the 205 has been retooled practically from the ground up. The distinctive dual roller brush system has been swapped out for a more maintenance friendly single rubber brush. The LIDAR system has dropped inside the robot's body. The near ubiquitous self-emptying tower dock has been replaced by an enlarged dustbin that claims to be able to go over a month before needing to be emptied. And the entire chassis has been enlarged. While I was initially skeptical about some of this I have to say that most of the design tweaks are good ones. The new brush design is still very adept at picking up dust, grime, and pet hair. The LIDAR system is remarkably capable and very well protected, allowing for some of the best navigation I've ever seen from a Roomba. And the dust bin, while a little weird, does seem to do its job and push most of what it picks up into the back, leaving the front of the bin essentially clear for the next cleaning job. Getting it set up was very painless, mapping was completed in less than ten minutes, and overall cleaning performance is excellent.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of choices I find harder to understand. The first spot I began running into problems was with the charging dock. It's small, which is nice for aesthetics, but also lightweight to the point of being a problem. When I first set it up the robot was constantly knocking its own base around trying to come in to dock, and the little friction pads on the bottom did nothing to stop it. Eventually I found myself having to erect a small structure around it to brace it, at which point it worked quite well. At this point I began to notice another surprise: the battery life is a lot shorter than I've come to expect. I have it set up to run a routine covering roughly 700 square feet of mixed carpet and tile flooring, and I've never once seen it be able to get through it all without having to go back to the dock to charge several times. This tends to stretch cleaning out several hours, which was very much a surprise. To be fair it is quite smart about how it breaks the job up between various rooms, and the navigation is accurate enough for it to optimize the path it takes, but unless you're willing to crank down the vacuum level to the lowest setting it does kind of feel like it's always running. This is somewhat exacerbated too by the fact that the new simplified app lacks one of the better features of the old one: the ability to set up quiet times where the Roomba isn't allowed to resume a job. I don't know that the feature is completely gone as it does seem to avoid turning itself on during dinner, but having that extra bit of granular control was very useful and would have greatly helped in my attempts to optimize the cleaning schedule to make sure it actually had a chance of finishing. I'm also a little concerned about how long the dust compactor can actually extend cleaning time given that it's compacting dust directly over the vacuum filter, but admittedly I haven't seen it cause any problems so far.
Now to be clear this doesn't make it a bad vacuum. In fact I'd go so far as to say that for most people, this will fulfill their needs and is a great pick. But I'm not sure it's one I'd necessarily recommend owners of existing Roombas run out to grab as an upgrade. Hopefully some future software updates can smooth over some of the quirks but, for now, it feels very much like a lot of these ideas could stand a little more refinement before they become must-have features.

Decent camera once you get past setup

I've used myQ Smart devices in my garage for a few years, so expanding the system to include an outdoor camera to monitor activity around the garage seemed like a no-brainer. In the time I've spent with it I've found it to be a quite capable, if at times a bit temperamental device.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality in both daylight and low light conditions. You can clearly see faces, animals, and cars.
- Relatively easy setup with the myQ app that can be completed in less than an hour.
- Easily integrated with other myQ smart home products.
- 25 foot waterproofed USB power cable offers plenty of options for cable routing during setup.
- Supports a wide range of advanced features such as facial recognition, vehicle recognition, 2-way audio, and configurable motion triggers.
- Excellent image quality in both daylight and low light conditions. You can clearly see faces, animals, and cars.
- Relatively easy setup with the myQ app that can be completed in less than an hour.
- Easily integrated with other myQ smart home products.
- 25 foot waterproofed USB power cable offers plenty of options for cable routing during setup.
- Supports a wide range of advanced features such as facial recognition, vehicle recognition, 2-way audio, and configurable motion triggers.
Cons:

Stunning picture & Gaming Monitor Perks

"This TV is fantastic."
This is the thought that's been running through my head most of this week as I sit down to relax for the evening. I've written reviews for a lot of TVs at this point and, truth be told, most are positive for the simple reason that it's gotten pretty easy to produce an experience that most would consider acceptable. But in the time I've spent with it so far the U8 has genuinely impressed me in so many ways - going above and beyond what I've come to expect from the brand.
First, somewhat predictably, is the picture quality. Hisense has been making waves for a while for figuring out clever ways to improve the performance of LCD panels to get them a bit closer to OLED, and they've pulled out all the stops here. Active dimming, quantum dots, and a beautiful glossy finish all come together to produce a vibrant and colorful image that makes HDR content absolutely pop. And they've paired it with a straightforward and easy to use interface letting you fine tune the settings to meet your exact preferences (something that has historically been a bit hit or miss due the brand.)
And if that were all the U8 offered, I'd be perfectly fine giving it my recommendation. But what really makes it stand out are all the secondary perks. The U8 comes with a host of secondary features that read like a wish list of things I wish more manufacturers would pay attention to - starting with built in support for variable refresh rate input via a DisplayPort interface handily placed on the side where it's a bit more accessible than the rear mounted HDMI and audio ports. Gaming on this TV with my PC looks and feels better than anything else I've tried by a wide margin. And as if that weren't enough they even gave it a surprisingly decent sound system. The (admittedly somewhat chunky) case has enough room for a surround sound system of sorts complete with a subwoofer. While I can't say it really competes with a dedicated surround setup in terms of quality or immersion, it certainly beats most cheap soundbars and sets it apart as one of few TVs where external sound doesn't feel like a necessity.
There are a few downsides that some might find off-putting. To start, it's definitely not a subtle design. Personally I don't mind a larger case if it means getting better performance, but I know a lot of people prefer TVs to be nearly invisible when not in use and this will definitely never be that. It's thick and unashamed about it, with a very on-brand chunky pedestal base to match. Which segues into my next observation: the install process was a bear. This thing is tremendously heavy and getting it set up and into position with just two people resulted in a lot of pinched fingers. What's more it's quite picky. When I first started it up I was using the same HDMI cables I'd used for years with my old TV and the combination of MAT sound and HDR brought them to their knees almost immediately, resulting in frequent audio dropouts and visual glitches until I replaced then with ones that had more bandwidth (pinching my fingers a second time.) So, for many, this may not be a drop in replacement so much as the centerpiece for a whole rebuild of their home theater.
Still... This TV is fantastic. It's an easy recommendation to anyone with the space to spare.

Great storage drive for a gaming machine

The P510 is not the first PCIe 5 NVMe drive to hit the market. It is, however, one of very few affordable options for those not looking to spend an arm and a leg on their storage. I'll admit some concern when first installing it that this might have resulted in a compromised product, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a capable storage drive that offers a great deal of performance for its price.
To begin with, let's cover the drive's greatest strengths. Obviously, it is fast. Synthetic benchmarks clocked it at almost exactly its rated read speeds of 11Gb/s, which should (at least in theory) be a huge win for anyone hoping to make use of the DirectStorage architecture to improve responsiveness. What came as more of a surprise is that it doesn't get all that hot doing it either. Even without an integrated heatsink operating temperatures were only slightly higher than what I'd expect from a Gen 4 drive, making it one of very few good options for getting a PCIe Gen5 drive into a laptop.
That said, it is not entirely without some compromises. To start the drive does not include an onboard DRAM cache, meaning it's relying on system memory instead. While I can't say I've noticed this impacting performance in my time with the drive, there's no question that the same chips paired with a cache would do better - so it may not be the most future proof option out there. That said I'm also unsure how much it matters, because at the moment I have to admit that the massive disparity in performance under synthetic loads has shown up in real world use. In an attempt to give it a fair test I swapped this drive in for another 1TB Gen4 drive I'd been using to store my Steam library and while I did note a few improvements in load times, they were all quite minor. I really don't think this is a failing of the drive - more likely it's just that our development practices haven't quite caught up to the hardware specs yet (and may not for another few years.) So the only place you really get the effect of the improved speed is when you're doing large file transfers or streaming media over a LAN (which I do somewhat regularly, but then I'm a bit weird.)
Ultimately though, I would still give the P510 a recommendation. Even if we don't yet have the games to fully put it through its paces that's a situation that may well change within the drive's useful life, and you aren't getting any of the downsides you might get with a PCIe 5 drive that would normally make me question if it really made sense to include it in a build.

Flashy Monitor for the Budget Conscious

Most of the curved monitors I've seen, particularly from the larger brands like Samsung, tend to target enthusiasts or professionals. More budget minded options do exist, but they tend to be fairly obvious about what they are. Samsung's latest attempts to address that by wrapping their latest lower spec'd curved display in a sleek, stylish package that should please anyone looking for a good deal.
The monitor's design goes out of its way to evoke the same design language of a lot of Samsung's last generation performance displays. The semi-rimless black and silver design is understated enough to blend in in an office setting while still boasting just enough aggressive angles to feel at home in a gaming setup. The 1800r curvature is ideal for close viewing, and while it's not quite large enough to fully immerse you in what you're doing it does significantly alleviate eye strain over long periods of use. Port selection is somewhat limited though - with just an HDMI and VGA at the back. It's a practical mix that should accommodate the vast majority of use cases, but I can't say it doesn't feel a little dated given far we are into the adoption of DisplayPort.
When it comes to actual performance, there's very little to complain about. It may not be Samsung's most impressive panel but colors are good, it doesn't pick up much glare, and the 100hz refresh rate is plenty responsive for daily use and the occasional gaming. The biggest issue is a pretty common one: it's a 27" FHD display. That's definitely pushing up against the limits of how big you can make a panel like that and still have it look good, so if you're the kind of person who likes to lean in to examine fine detail you may be disappointed when you start seeing pixels. It still looks fine when you're sitting at the proper distance, though, and can provide some excellent HD gaming experiences.

The Fan for Maximalists

Shark products are almost a meme at this point for how gleefully they will overengineer even relatively simple concepts. So it should come as no surprise that the FlexBreeze Pro Mist is perhaps the most complicated and feature rich electric fan I have ever seen. The sheer range of capabilities and operating modes that come with is such that even after almost a week spent playing with it I'm pretty confident there are more waiting to be discovered, which is both a blessing and a curse.
First let's drill into the positives. So long as you can find the space for it, there is pretty much no use case for a fan that this can't conceivably fill. It can cover a surprisingly large volume with as much or as little air as you might want, and seems consciously designed to be as invisible as possible while doing it. The motor is whisper quiet at lower modes and it offers a rather interesting party trick where it can pseudorandomly adjust its speeds to simulate the ebb and flow of a natural breeze, which I have to admit is surprisingly comfortable when you're just sitting inside reading while it rains outside. What's more the option to run it either from wall power or off of a generous internal battery means you never really need to worry about placement either. The optional mister also gains points for having most of the parts that are more likely to require maintenance or periodic cleaning easily accessible and, in some cases, completely replaceable - something that seems essential for a fan of this quality that will hopefully keep being used for many years to come. It hasn't really been hot enough yet for me to really put this function through its paces but even without it it's remarkably good at cooling things down, so I imagine on hot summer days it would be the height of luxury to set up at a barbeque or camp site.
That said there is one notable downside that needs to be addressed: bulk. Even in its smaller configuration, the fan is pretty awkward to place and move around. The addition of the battery makes the head a lot deeper than you'd usually expect for its radius, and the pedestal (while well built) has a very generous footprint that makes it clumsy to deal with, particularly if you're also carting around a full water tank. It's also got no provision to adjust the height of the pedestal, only to angle the fan. This can create some awkward scenarios where an obstacle forces you to point the head to the sky at which point you're not getting nearly as much air moving over people. It's certainly not something everyone's going to run into, but in my case it seemed to be almost exactly as tall as various bushes and lawn furniture so it did cause some annoyance. I don't think these are issues that would ever rise to the level of deal breakers for most, but I do think it's worth checking you can actually find the space for it before getting too excited.
Overall the fan is a very easy recommendation for a very particular kind of person. While it definitely works great both indoor and outdoors, I feel like it skews a bit further towards the latter use case. In my mind it's probably really going to shine for those who are perpetually outdoors in climates which seem determined to make the argument for air conditioning - where it could be a real game changer set up in a sunroom, patio, or backyard.

Per the spec sheet they're 422mm tall - the headphone holder adds about two millimeters to whichever one you stick it to. In more practical terms, they're just about exactly as tall as a 32" LCD (not including the stand.)

Does this model have hands free pressure release when pressure cooking timer is done, or do you have to manually release steam after pressure cooking?
You do need to manually toggle the valve. That said, it's very well designed to keep your hands free of any steam that might escape in the process.

It uses PCIe 4.0. The drive that's included isn't the fastest I've seen, but it'll handily beat any of the last generation NVMe drives.

I recently purchased this laptop. It came with windows 10 preinstalled. The product description tells that it has windows 11. Does that mean that I have to wait for the windows 11 update. Or is there an issue with my laptop
That'll depend on what date your laptop was manufactured. As of mid-October the factories aren't set up to load Windows 11 on new units yet, so they're shipping ones with Windows 10 with the keys needed to get the free update ASAP. Windows 11 is having something of a staggered rollout, with certain models getting the upgrade ahead of others. That said the one I received on 10/12 got the option to update within a day, so you might just need to check Windows Update to confirm that you actually want it.

120 minutes is how much you might be able to get under optimal conditions assuming a battery that's close to brand new, a wide open room with nothing for the robot to get stuck on, and a floor that's already clean enough that it doesn't need to ramp up the suction for targeted cleaning. In other words, it's probably more than you'll get in day to day use. I wouldn't be that concerned about it though. The biggest advantage to having a robot with active navigation like this is that it knows where it was when it ran out of battery. So when it gets low it stops, returns to its dock, then picks up where it left off once it's gotten enough charge to finish the job. So long as it doesn't end up cut off from its charging base by a closed door or the like, it can stick with a cleaning job more or less indefinitely.

Elgato's website is pretty terrible. No real info and only list one model with no model number listed anywhere. What's different about this one versus the KAA model?
In terms of functionality it's pretty much identical. They've adopted a slightly different design for the stand which makes the whole thing look a bit more streamlined, added the option to remove and replace the faceplate for increased customization, and modernized the USB interface. I'd say it's more like a refresh of the original aimed at extending the product's lifespan than a wholly new device.

What does this new 850A do that the 2020 year 950T cannot? Would this 850A be the big brother to the 950T or does the 950T provide a better sound experience since it it is a 9.1.4 system. I too am tossed which one to purchase.
The 950 is the next model up from the 850 - even with the 850A being newer it can't compete with a system that's got 6 additional channels to play with. You'll be better up with last year's 950 model.
