Great protection, but not a lot of room

This item will protect the headset and the headset only. There is no room for the extension cable from headset to processing unit (you can jam it in there, but I personally wouldn't). I don't see it as a travel bag, although it can be one, since it doesn't carry all necessary VR accessories, but I consider it essential protection for when you aren't using it.

The premise of this switch is fascinating, control your lights remotely and in some circumstances, with your voice. I recommend you get, or either own, Amazon Echo or Google Home for the full experience. Other than having the ability to turn lights off remotely (say when you're on vacation) the real magic is being able to turn on/off the lights with your voice.
The set up is pretty straightforward. The installation is easy if you have any do-it-yourself know how. You just need to turn off the power to the switch and unscrew some screws. The one big caveat is the white wire (when you get the packaging you'll know) but you are required to have a white wire (neutral) in your switch box for this to work. It's my understanding if your house is less than 20 years old, you should have one. Mine were unused and wrapped tightly in the back of the switch box.
Once it's installed, it's pretty easy to setup., You download the app and run through it's pretty straightforward set up. The app is clean and easy to understand and for the most part, the set up was painfree. Although I did get hung up on connecting it to Wi-Fi, but that was before I realized the importance of the "white" wire.
Once set up, I linked it to both my Amazon Alexa app and Google Home app and voila. Voice activated lights. All I say is "Hey Google, turn the lights on in the kitchen" or something close to that, and Google turns the lights on.
Of all smart home tech, I put lights at the top of the list of must-haves, right below thermostat.

Great performance but large
on January 27, 2017

If you've had a Ninja blender before, you are in for a treat. This model outshines the performance of any previous versions (I know because I've previously owned two Ninja blenders). The blending jar is huge 88 oz, I haven't made anything large enough to fill it up, but it is nice to know I can make margaritas for a large crowd. I love the timer on the blender, not necessary, but nice to see how long it's been on. The buttons on the machine itself all have a purpose. That is to say it's not overly complex.
The one complaint and it's a big one, both literally and figuratively, is that the base is large. The width and footprint doesn't bother me as much as the height. Combine the height of the base with the height of an 88 oz pitcher and you have a large blender taking up your counter space. If you have cabinets above your counter top where you'd place the blender make sure they're high enough!! I didn't and can't keep the pitcher attached to the base but in a separate cabinet.
I do like the separate "titan cups" which are similar to a Nutribullet. The powerful base and blade combo whips up frozen fruit and makes smooth as silk smoothies to take on the go in no time. I would recommend this device based on the titan travel cups alone.

Great sound and battery life

For the money, this is a tremendous speaker with great sound and decent battery life. Bass isn't huge, but this is a small package and it's more than adequate. My one big complaint, which is present in nearly every single Bluetooth speaker, is no playback controls. I like to have forward button on the speaker itself for the times I don't want to pull out my phone (or I'm closer to the speaker) when I want to change songs.

Great for smart home, versatile

I have both Google Home and Amazon Echo Dot. I also have a Harmony Hub and several smart home devices. I love the smart home integration and once you activate lights and your entertainment center with your voice, good luck going back. For now, the Echo has better integration with my smart home, but once Google Home catches up, I will be switching to Google for the sole reason I subscribe to Google Play Music.
But to be honest all of these devices have limited uses and the "fun" or "cool" appeal wears off soon. It's fun to ask Alexa questions or ask her to tell you a joke, but that gets old quick. It's also cool to order something from Amazon, but I rarely do so because I like to look at what I'm ordering.
You will definitely need a secondary speaker to connect this to. Which brings me to the one big problem and that's having a secondary speaker on at all times (and sometimes on the correct input). For example, I connected my Echo Dot to my receiver to play sound through it, but I also use the receiver to watch TV, etc., so I change the inputs. So when I ask Alexa to answer a quick question, I have to make sure it's on the right input. I know that I an ask Alexa to tell Harmony to change the input but I often forget to do so. I wish I could have a dedicated sound system that awoke whenever Alexa was triggered.
At the end of the day, it's a fun device to have that provides some useful "skills" (ordering Dominos is cool, but I've only done it once) and games (I like Jeopardy) but it's true usefulness is its ability to be the voice hub for your smart home, if you're interested in having one...

Great performance, but difficult set up
on January 16, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth

In looking for routers, the most important factor to me is the ease of use. If you are buying a new router, chances are, it as the speed and power to fuel your Wi-Fi devices. Since routers are meant to be in the open (for best performance) style and size are also important to me. The Linksys Velop crosses off two of those boxes but fails on the third and I can't recommend it.
I am a guy interested in tech, I love reading about it and having the most up to date gadgets. And while I'm familiar with the inner workings and specs of most of my devices, I don't pretend to be an internet modem/router/networking guru. But I'm pretty good at getting things to work. I have approximately 30 devices connected to my network. Tablets, gaming systems, several Chromecasts, Google Home, Amazon Echo, Nest Thermostat and Protect, WeMo switches, phones and laptops. I need a high performance router. I have a large Linksys AC1900. I have no issues with its performance, but it is big and bulky. I also mention the number of devices I have to explain my issues (see below) and the fact that when you have a smart home, changing Wi-Fi routers is no easy decision. You must be prepared to spend hours resetting devices and Wi-Fi settings.
What drew me to the Velop were the 3 smaller "nodes" that act as internet extenders without creating separate Wi-Fi networks (if you've ever used an extender, you know what I'm talking about) with the ability to give me Ethernet ports in other rooms (where the nodes would be placed) without a drop in performance. And to be honest the Velop looks fantastic (IMHO). I think they are sharp, and have a small footprint (although the AC adapter is huge). The box is well crafted and smartly designed, and even though that doesn't matter, it shows the simplistic goals of the Velop: this device is intended for persons of all knowledge and capabilities to have a cutting edge Wi-Fi network.
I took the nodes and chargers out of the box (only one Ethernet cord is included) and placed them where I wanted them in the house. I took the "main" node where my old router was, and swapped them out (one big disadvantage that needs to be mentioned is that there's only 2 Ethernet ports in each node which can affect placement of your devices that you like wired). I plugged the modem to the Velop node and went to my phone. I already had the Linksys app from my previous router, but the app wouldn't open. I ended up uninstalling it and re-downloading it from the Google Play store. I logged back in and was prompted to the Velop installation page which is a basic walkthrough (where to plug Ethernet cord into node). The Velop was found, then it "looked" for my modem. The app told me to restart the modem. After about 3 minutes, the router was up and running. Up to this point, everything was going almost flawlessly. I typed in the network name and password and everything was working. I added my phone to the Wi-Fi network and had blazing speeds of over 100 MBps throughout my house on the different nodes (I pay for 100 MBps speeds).
Then I started the arduous process of adding all of my devices to the network and that's where the issues began. I tried adding my 2nd Gen Nest, but it couldn't find it. It did find several suspicious networks that looked like they were coming from the Velop (I never figured out what they were for). I was able to add one Chromecast Audio but was unable to add my first gen Chromecast video. My Amazon Echo Dot could find it, but then it wouldn't connect to the Bluetooth speaker (probably the result of something else, but it worked prior to installing new router). The Wemo devices couldn't find the network I just created and neither could my computer.
At this point I started troubleshooting. I started thinking that maybe the older devices only accepted 2.4 GHz signal, and the Velop was sending out a 5 GHz signal. So I thought, I'll just go on the app and set up a separate 2.4 GHz network and add the older devices to that. But there was no such option. I went through every option in the app and couldn't find anything helpful. I searched the internet to no avail. At this point, unable to add my two most important devices (my Nest devices) I decided to plug my old router back in. Once I did, everything worked flawlessly again.
I can't say I wasn't doing something wrong, maybe someone will comment and tell me I'm an idiot. But the point is that the Velop is supposed to be dead simple to use. The speed was fantastic and covered my house like no other device I've ever used. But not being able to add my other devices was a deal breaker. The app, while simple and nice aesthetics, couldn't help me set up what I thought would fix the issue (2.4 GHz network).
If you are looking to purchase all new devices that support 5GHz bands or are just adding new devices to the network (versus resetting old devices and updating the Wi-Fi network) this might work for you, but if you are like me and have a working network with a large number of devices, I wouldn't bother as it will cause many unwanted headaches.

Great cameras for the home, very flexible
on January 10, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I'm not necessarily concerned about someone breaking into my home, but I wanted cameras just to check on things. I also liked the idea of using the Arlo camera to trigger turning on a light at night (with use of IFTTT app). The Arlo set up is hands down the easiest to set up and use. Of all the tech gear I've ever purchased, this was one of the easiest to get up and running.
Included in the box:

- base station
- two cameras
- two batteries
- charging cable for batteries (thru the camera)
- wall attachments with anchors (attach to camera via magnet, easy to adjust)
The instructions make this a seemless process. The only true limitation is the placement of your router, which the base station needs to be connected to via ethernet. This means that you need to free up a LAN port and it needs to be in a central location in your house assuming you want to utilize the siren to scare away would be burglars. For my particular setup, location wasn't an issue, it was the freeing up of an ethernet port since I connect all my devices that I can to the LAN ports. But that wasn't a big deal.
All you do is plug the power cable into the base, plug ethernet to the router, turn it on, wait two minutes and then hit sync on the base station and camera (setting up one camera at a time) and voila. All good to go.
Then you have to download the app and set up an account, which is no big deal. The app is pretty helpful and for the most part, intuitive. (it too gives you instructions for set up).
The hardest part is determining where to put the cameras. And the best part is you''re not limited by power outlets. (oh and the batteries come fully charged from the factory a HUGE bonus in my mind, very thoughtful). I ended up using one in my living room (to help turn on lights through IFTTT and one in my son's room to replace his paltry monitor. It takes one small anchor and screw (included) and you hang on the silver half-domed wall anchor and the camera attaches via strong magnet. I haven't tried outside and tested whether or not the magnet would hold up to the elements (I'd honestly buy the screw in mount for $19.99 if I were doing that). But it holds its place in the house without any issues. And it is easy to adjust the camera by sliding it around the half-domed mount.
The next thing to do is set up how you want the cameras to work. Do you want to be notified if there's motion in the house? All day or certain hours? Or do you just want to check the cameras at oyur own leisure? Luckily, the app is pretty easy to navigate to set your preferences. My family is home most of the day, so I leave motion sensing off except when we leave for vacation, otherwise you will be constantly notified.
The picture quality is great and you can take pictures and record manually through the app (i.e. take a quick screenshot of the video or record a clip as you're watching it). You do get free 7 days of video capture for free, but I noticed that the camera has to be triggered. For example, mine are not operating under motion detection and therefore don't record at all time. But if I set it to detect motion it will record when it detects motion. In other words, I can't go to the app and view video from yesterday since I don't have it set to notify me of motion. No big deal, but something to think about. I have not tested to see if you can just have it constantly record and I don't know what effect that has on the battery life.
My one big complaint is that it takes a LONG time to get the live video feed (which BTW is a few second delayed). When I open the app and see my camera feeds and I click on them to get them to show a live feed, it takes 10-20 seconds, which is a long time. But again, depending on how you're using these cameras will alter the settings you use and change this. I want to conserve battery and since I just check up on things infrequently, I don't mind the delay (too much). But if I needed to constantly monitor something it would be a big pain.
All in all, this is the most convenient and flexible camera system you can buy, based on my research. The battery life is incredible, they recharge (supposedly) in 2 hours and you can put them anywhere. The setup is dead simple and the IFTTT integration is a huge bonus. I havent tested them in the elements, but based on their construction I have no doubt they can handle it.
Last thing, you can add up to 5 cameras to one base and have free access to cloud storage for the past 7 days, so you can always add more cameras.

Fun and easy but limited use
on December 28, 2016
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I primarily use this Ninja to make single serving smoothies in the morning. I like the included "tritan" cups and drinking lids. I particularly like the 32 ounce cup, which are hard to find. The bowl was merely an afterthought, but I liked using it and made some good food from the included recipe book (which you may not use if you're a cooking guru unlike me). It's also a plus that everything is dishwasher friendly.
What you get:
- Motor base
- Bowl with metal mixing blades and plastic mixing blades (kneading dough)
- 2 24 ounce travel cups
- 1 32 ounce travel cups
- 3 drinking lids
- 1 screw on blade base for travel cups
Like all Ninja products, everything is made of plastic. But that is no knock, these are made of high quality and sturdy plastics. I also like the black and silver look. There are quite a few buttons on the base (from a guy coming from a blender with Low Med High settings) but they all serve a purpose. As a whole, the whole system looks good. The base is a bit tall, but even with the 32 ounce cup locked into the base for storage (I keep a cup on the base for easy access and to eliminate some clutter in my cabinet) it fit on my counter underneath my cabinets.
Using this as I primarily do, making single serve smoothies, this baby is pretty self explanatory. I will say that I am extremely impressed with the blender's capability to pulverize anything. Frozen fruits, nuts, apples all come out smooth and "non lumpy." The bowl on the other hand, took me out of comfort zone. I don't have and have never used a food processor. My guess that this is close to a food processor as you can get. Since I've never used one, I don't know what to do with it offhand, but the included 75 recipe book has lots of fun things to make. I made veggie burgers and quinoa salad and it was awesome. It was really simple to make and use and the finished product is delicious. And dare I say, it was kind of fun. I haven't strayed away from the cookbook, but there's plenty of offerings in there to justify the purchase if you aren't a big cook and want to experiment. What I like most are the various items you can try; there's something different which makes it fun to cook (I'm used to making the same 3 things all the time).
Bottom line is, if you are looking for a "nutribullet" this thing can handle anything you throw at it, and if you are interested in venturing outside of your comfort zone and utilizing the bowl to make new and interesting dishes (using the included cookbook) this is a great device to have. Even if you don't use the bowl attachment, this is a great single serve smoothie maker.

What are the glasses capable of?

That's a seemingly broad question, but they connect to any Bluetooth source device and can play music through the speakers embedded in the arms of the glasses. The sound is good based on the open speaker design, so the sound will bleed a little bit. But overall, I like them.

Pixel Buds A-Series bring you rich, high-quality sound for a lot less than you’d expect. Their beamforming mics help make calls crystal clear.*** The flush-to-ear design is stylish, and the stabilizer arc keeps them in place so you can wear them even during the sweatiest workout.**

Does it have Noise Cancellation feature ?

No they do not have active noise cancelling. One of the drawbacks of the Pixel Buds (IMHO) is that they let in a lot of ambient noise, even with a good seal/fit in your ears.

Does Google pixel buds pair with iPhones?

I haven't specifically tried it, but it's my understanding they do, but I do know you'll lose the ability to use/activate the Google Assistant through the Pixel Buds.

Can I use my Goggles with the DJI mavic air 2s?

I haven't tested it, because I don't own the goggles, but there's a setting to change the camera to FPV. And according to dronedj.com, it is compatible.

Will Air 2s work with note 20 ultra?

I don't own that phone, but I don't see why not. Biggest concern is size of the phone and whether it fits into the controller. I use a Google Pixel 4 XL and there's still a little more space for the "arms" of the controller to hold the phone. And in terms of the app itself, you'll need to download it straight from the DJI website (which is the same process for all Androids)
