Great performance, bad instructions
on July 30, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I should note that I've never fried anything before. So when I got this air fryer, I was starting at ground zero.
Having said that, I can say that the performance of this fryer is great, but the process to get there wasn't. That's not to say that it's difficult to use, but the instructions manual could have been left out of the box for all I knew. They were that bad. The pictures weren't clear (extremely confusing) and the word descriptions were even more confusing. That's part because this one manual was for two different models of the air fryer each with distinct features and parts. I thought for the longest time I didn't have some of the things I needed.
After some trial and error, I finally had success. Fries (they were surprisingly delicious). I followed the manual (which gives you the times you should cook some things) and cut up a potato, soaked them in water, sprinkled a smidge of oil on them and put them in the fryer and turned the knob. Bam, that's it. Looking back it seems silly to complain about a simple to use machine, but since I've never used a fryer before (of any kind) I was a little flabbergasted at the beginning.
The only thing you have to do is plug it in, put your food in the basket, and turn a knob (like an old school winding timer) and that's it. IT comes easily apart for cleaning and it's simple enough to put together that there's only one way to do so.
It comes with a recipe book, but don't expect much. My Ninja food processor came with a really nice and easy to use recipe book that I think all food appliances should have (at least for those like me who cook the same things over and over and want to venture out more). But that's really not on the product, so I can't dock a star for that.
All in all, if you want an air fryer, this thing is great. If you know how to use one, then by all means get it. IF you're just interested in using one and don't have any experience like me, this is a great buy, just plan on doing a little research before and afterwards on what you can do with it.

Sounds crisp but lacks the bass
on July 1, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
First things first, I'm no audio aficionado, but I've been around long enough, owned enough audio products (both good and bad) to be able to talk about what sounds good. This Samsung bar sounds good, and while it touts to have a built in sub, be prepared to be underwhelmed. Nothing, whether cheap system or otherwise, beats a dedicated subwoofer. That's why Samsung actually sells a dedicated wireless subwoofer to go with this sound bar. Don't get me wrong, it still sounds good and I was actually surprised by the surround sound effects (again, nothing beats dedicated surround speakers, you can buy surround speakers to go with this soundbar).
This is is made for the sake of simplicity. if you want a quality sound bar that upgrades your TV speakers but don't want to invest time or money in true surround sound, this is a great option. But it's price is steep, I would probably stick to another brand unless you have a Samsung TV (this soundbar can connect wirelessly to Samsung TVs, which is a boon, less wires).
It's simplicity can also be a drawback. For example, it only has one HDMI input. So you can plug in a 4K player, or a game console, or cable box but not two. Now there's a workaround, you plug the optical audio cable from your soundbar to the TV and use the TV inputs to plug your devices into. There's also an AUX input. That's it. HDMI, AUX, and optical audio. You can connect via bluetooth. The setup is easy and the remote makes sense. But keep in mind, you'll have a second remote to control volume (unless you have a Samsung TV, the Samsung TV remote should be interchangeable).
To maintain the simple clean look (I do think the soundbar looks great) there's virtually no display. When you turn it on, the word ON appears in the right side of the soundbar, hidden behind the speaker grill (that extends across the entire face of the bar to create a uniform look, but then it disappears. I like that feature, but you don't always know whether it's on or off. When you change the soundmode, you only get abbreviations, some of them like MOV are easy to figure out, but others aren't. The input names are also limited to three letters. This is a minor point, and shouldn't be a big deal, MOST people will leave it on the same sound setting and input and only hit VOL up or down. But for those that tweak things, or use multiple inputs or have more complicated set ups, it's good to know.
It is wall mountable, but it sticks out. What I mean is, it's pretty wide (not length of bar, but the depth from the back to the front). So it sticks out pretty far from the wall.
This soundbar is also pretty heavy, but overall I like the look.
This is in my bedroom, so I like the one piece and not having to worry about a separate subwoofer. But if this were in my living room, I would probably swing for the Samsung wireless surround speakers and sub to go with it (but maybe not, it would get pricey).
All in all, good soundbar, but make sure it fits your needs before buying, it's not cheap!

Inferno features a vibrant red-on-black color scheme and the distinct spiral pattern that our best-selling FPS Freek® Vortex™ made famous. The comfortable spiral pattern adapts to the pressure you put on it, so the harder you play, the harder Inferno works to keep your thumbs from slipping. Inferno’s 9.9 mm of added height increases the analog stick radial distance by 47%, which provides a arc distance increase of 135.5%. This gives you the ability to make smaller, more precise in-game movements, affording you the luxury of turning up controller sensitivities to maximum levels so you can turn on your opponents faster and gain the upper-hand.

Great robot vacuum, if you're willing to work w it
on June 20, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
Let me start by saying I've had a Neato Signature Pro XV before, so I've had experience with robot vacuums. It needs to be said that robot vacuums require some work and dealing with a few headaches, but in my opinion, the learning curve is worth it in the end. Ask yourself this question: would I rather move some furniture and pick up a few things ahead of time or spend my time vacuuming the house myself? It sounds like a silly question, because when you are moving furniture or picking up items off the floor in order to allow the vacuum room to operate you'll ask yourself "why go through all of this trouble? It's the same amount of work as vacuuming everything myself" But in the end, you have to move the same furniture and items off the floor and put them back.
And just know there's some growing pains, you'll find the vacuum unable to get to a certain spot, or might get tripped up over a cable, etc. It might get stuck in a particular room because the door isn't always open. Go in with an open mind, and each time it runs see what works and what doesn't. Once you figure out how you need to leave your house so that your vacuum will run when you're gone, there's nothing better.
With that aside, this Samsung vacuum is amazing. It's significantly quieter than my Neato vacuum (although if you're home, you're still going to hear it) and it's 2 as powerful. My vacuum can go through the entire first floor of my house on one charge. My Neato had to charge 2-3 times. The dust bin is easy to take out and empty. The vacuum has a low profile and could get under my coffee and side tables. I really like the digital screen, the buttons look confusing (i.e. you should read the instruction manual), as it tells you the battery status and the mode it's operating in.
I did personally have a few issues of the vacuum not finding its way back home, but that doesn't always happen and I can't explain it. As I said, robot vacuums are work and aren't as simple as plugging in and hitting "start." You have to be conscious where you put it and where you're going to use it. It doesn't replace my stick vacuum, there's still areas where only a handheld device can reach, but the compliment each other. The Samsung robot vacuum does save me considerable time in the long run. And this model in particular performs admirably.
It comes with a remote, which I use just to hit "start" and "stop." In full disclosure I haven't used the app to control it; I already have about 6 home automation apps on my phone and Samsung wasn't one of them and I just didn't want to have another one on my phone. So I can't comment on the app interface/usability.
I will say that another consideration to be mindful of is the placement of the charging base. The vacuum necessarily needs to be out in the open to operate. And it needs to be near an outlet, and while the cable is plenty long, I find it unsightly. Plus there's a large power brick that sticks out like a sore thumb and the vacuum always seems to run over it (as in, it comes off the base, turns to the side and runs up towards the wall and hits the wire). I ended up placing the power brick on top of the base and have had pretty good success at keeping the vacuum away and reducing sightly cable clutter.

I mean, as an adult, the movie ain't bad. But let's be honest, it's true purpose is to keep my kid entertained and it does a great job. He loves those little minions. Although, word of caution to sensitive parents, there is some mild violence. Cartoon violence of course, but there is some slightly objectionable material for some.

I'm an attorney and prefer to write down my thoughts for a living. Before LiveScribe I used to scan my handwritten notes to our network which was a pain. Now I can just write my notes, share them from my phone and voila, they're instantly available. I love the convenience. The accuracy is phenomonal. My only issue is the paper/notebooks. I can't find any in stores so I'm forced to buy them online. Not a big deal, but does require planning when using them. Also note that the pen refills must be purchased online. I'd definitely buy some extra refills ahead of time so you don't run out and go without any ink. Note that the pen is "fat" but I like it. It's a little different than writing with a normal sized pen but I like the comfort of a bigger device. It took minimal "retraining" of my hand. I wish battery life was longer, only lasts a couple of days of moderate use, but you can't have everything. At least it charges quickly.

Necessary for Outside Use

I use my Arlo Pro's outside and these are a must. They offer sturdiness unmatched by the magnet mount included in the box and they are 100% more flexible. I like the black because I was putting it in a dark corner around dark wood. It helps blend in my camera (with a black silicone cover as well). These are a must for any Arlo Pro user who has their camera's outside.

Great sound and Fantastic Quality
on May 26, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
These headphones are hands down the highest quality headphones I've ever come into contact with. I've always worn Bose and while they sound great in their own right and are quality products, they don't touch the design and machining of Master and Dynamics. It sounds silly, but I couldn't help but gawk at them when I pulled them out of the box. The materials are first class, including premium cowskin leather and braided cables. The 3.5mm audio cable has a long (almost too long) cable and included with the package is a nice quality travel bag (more on that in a second) and a nice circular box to hold the cable itself (although this box doesn't have much utility to me, it is a nice addition). The ear cushions are extremely nice and comfortable.
The sound quality is crisp and punchy. Vocals are extremely clear. I'm absolutely no audio guru, I'll just say they sound great. The bass doesn't punch like Beats or other brands, but that's okay for me. That's probably a function of the fact that these are on ears versus over ears cups.
I found these headphones to be comfortable during short sessions, but I did notice a pain in my ears after taking them off following a long flight. I think the headband is a little tight and I'm hoping it will "loosen" up after wearing it some more. But it wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't recommend these headphones.
The biggest drawback is that it's 2017 and it seems that every headphone maker is going to Bluetooth which these do not. This isn't a big deal to me because I only want Bluetooth headphones when working out and when I'm listening with these headphones I generally have my phone in my pocket. I also have some concerns with traveling with them. The aforementioned carry bag offers no protection from crushes, only scratches. These headphones don't fold up, I woudl describe them as folding flat. So I would be careful when traveling with them. For my old pair of Bose QC35, they came with a hard shell case that allow me to stuff them in my bad without worry. Maybe I could throw these in my bag and they'd be okay (I'm generally careful with my things) but I'm too concerned about damaging them given their price. This is just something to keep in mind depending on how often you travel and how you travel.
If you are looking for a high quality reference headphones to truly appreciate your music (it makes streaming music sound great, versus high quality audio files) then these are a great choice. They are impeccably made. Hands off to the audio engineers at Master and Dynamics.

Replace the keyboard of your Microsoft Surface Pro 7, 6, 5 or 4 with this silver Brydge keyboard. It conveniently lets you open the screen at your preferred viewing angle without a kickstand, and its backlit keys increase visibility in low light working environments. High Quality, Easy to Use
on May 21, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I wasn't looking for a new keyboard for my Surface Pro, but after seeing this I thought I would give it a try. I've used a Surface Book before, and loved it, but I liked the svelte size of the Surface Pro more. So I stuck with the completely serviceable, but flimsy in your lap keyboard.
When I saw the Brydge, my first concern was battery life. It's rated for 3 months, and I haven't had it that long the battery life is going great. All you do is fully charge it, turn it on, and connect it via Bluetooth.
When I turn the Surface on, I do have to turn the keyboard on (minor inconvenience) but it immediately connects from there.
Design and Use
This is a great looking keyboard. It is impeccable. And while it does seem heavy when you hold it by itself, it really isn't that heavy when you take into account what a normal laptop weighs.
it's got a nice layout with ample space, somehow seemingly more so than the normal Surface keyboard. i like the depth of the keys and it makes a satisfying click. The track pad is 1000% better than the Surface keyboard and is more substantial to boot. It is extremely accurate, I've had no issues thus far.
Hinge
The hinge is the biggest thing about it. It is really sturdy and the rubber "clamps" (although they're not clamps per se) hold the computer in place. So much so that you can hold the computer or keyboard by itself open and neither will move.
If you like to take the keyboard off the monitor frequently, you may not like it as it is difficult to wiggle on and off. But if you never really use the Surface as a tablet then don't worry about it.
Thickness
The Brydge keyboard is thicker than the Surface keyboard and makes the device (when attached and closed) a littler thicker and heavier than the Surface. Not a big deal to me, but if those things matter it's something to consider I'm also not a fan of the hinge sticking even further out making it thicker where the hinge exists. But this is something you can't get away from, design wise.
And I did have to stretch my neoprene sleeve to get my Surface and Brydge keyboard inside of it. So keep in mind of tight fitting Surface accessories that were made with the Surface keyboard in mind.
All-in-all,if you like the versatility of the Surface but prefer a more traditional clam shell typing experience, this is the premier way to accomplish that goal.

Just curious what the flight time experience has been like. Says 20 minutes with no payload; however, is the camera considered "payload"? Is it 20 minutes WITH the camera? Also, how close to 20 minutes is the "actual" flight time?

Given that the camera is required to fly I wouldn't think that the camera is considered payload. I've never tried to fly with any payload mostly because I haven't needed to and it doesn't seem equipped to hold anything (you would have to use some ingenuity to attach something to it). I can speak as to how long it flies without any payload but obviously with the camera. And in my use, it's been between 18-19 minutes of flight time. The very first time I flew it, it landed itself due to low battery around the 18 minutes mark, even though on the handheld controller, the screen said there was 2 minutes of flight time left. I haven't flown it enough while taking video/stills to determine how much that drains the battery. Hope that helps.

Charge 2 GoPro lithium-ion batteries simultaneously with this GoPro AHBBP-301 charger that reliably draws power from select USB chargers, USB-enabled computers or GoPro wall or vehicle chargers (not included), so you can keep your camera ready for use.

Does this have the cable to connect charger to computer? Is there a cord that connects camera directly to computer or wall charger for charging? I think we lost ours.

It comes with a mini-USB cable which you can plug into your computer (I wouldn't recommend because of slow charging) and a wall charger. The same mini-USB cable plugs directly into the camera itself
