Eliminate all anxiety re speed traps, buy a Max 3

Escort makes several Radar Detectors, and I believe their best detector for the money is the Escort MAX 3. A radar detector that false alarms due to retail store door openers, garage doors, etc. soon finds it's way to a drawer or resale. The cry wolf factor leads to no trust, and non-use. This escort appears to have solved those problems. I drove in and out of shopping centers, commercial areas and it did not false alarm, When it did go off, there was a police car lurking in the shadows using some sort of speed checking device. All I know was that I had ample warning to check my speed and keep it at 25mph. As for the mounting system -- it is brilliant. I was leery of the suction cup mount that the max3 slips into, but a week of driving w/o any problems has convinced me. Escort has come up with a system that makes it easy to position the detector high on the windshield without blocking visibility. This mounting system makes it easy as pie to securely mount, take down, store in it's case, remount the detector as desired in seconds.The size and shape of the escort are well thought out and pretty much perfect IMHO. The colored lights, the audible alerts can be set to your specs, I liked the factory settings and am not concerned with how many lights, etc., I only want a sharp audible warning tone as early as possible. The Max 3 does that with aplomb. The features I fell in love with were it's smart phone app and blue tooth integration with my iPhone. The app is incredible! It provides a moving map and displays all known and all reported by other Escort owners locations of speed traps, traffic lights w speed detector cameras, etc. The app makes it easy as pie to use the touch screen on your phone, and report a location to warn others. It is updated 24 by 7, and there is no charge for the service. The app also links with a gps system to show the actual speed limit of the road you are on and your speed. There have been many times when I did not know the speed limit of a road, and had to guess. No more, the app on the iPhone eliminates that problem. The road speed limit links to the Max 3 so that you can always see the road speed limit and your actual speed side by side. If speeding, it will show your speed in red digits vs the blue light of the "road speed limit" digital display light. I tested this feature over and over. I travel in a community with a speed limit of mostly 35mph, and with roundabouts instead of lights. The speed limit in the roundabouts is 20mph. As I drove and entered a roundabout, the speed limit instantly changed on my phone and on the Max 3 speed limit display. I always knew the legal speed limit. This detector may cost more than competitors detectors, but I believe it to be well worth it's price because it works extremely well, hence it will be used every time you get in a vehicle to drive. You will not leave home without it!

Quality Wifi camera system with lots to like!

Lots of features to like, but when it comes to a surveillance system w wifi cameras, the first plus has to do with installation and getting things up and running. Suffice it to say installation and setup were easy. You simply plug in the Lorex monitor/hub, and it walks you through all you need. I liked the face recognition feature to fire up the Lorex display instead of having to enter my password. The downside was that the software is set to only recognize 1 face. This did not go over well with my wife. SHOUTOUT: Hey Lorex, allow 2 faces to be recognized. Plugging in the cameras 1 at a time resulted in their prompt recognition by the Lorex display. I tested the siren and turning on/off the bright light on each camera. Easy as pie. I then set about installing the cameras, one in my garage and one on my lanai. I used the wall bracket for the lanai, the ceiling/table (any flat surface) for the garage. The template provided made locating the areas to drill 2 holes (wall bracket) or 4 holes quick and easy. I angled the cameras and voila -- the views were displayed side by side on the Lorex monitor inside my home. Easy to see both views, or only the display of one camera. The ability to zoom in or go wide angle was again -- easy. With all working, I tested the microphone w my wife and can sum up w 1 word, excellent. The fact that the cameras/microphones can be set to turn on when motion is detected and sensitivity set was another plus. I particularly liked the ability to have a home and away setting. The setup allows you to expand a circle around your location as being home. Whenever the system detects you are out of the range of your circle, you are automatically away, cameras are set, notification messages to your smart phone w the Lorex app become active. Messages automatically turn off when you arrive back in the circle that you defined as being home (can include yard and driveway, shed area, etc.). What about the images displayed? They were excellent both day and night. Colors rendered true, and in hi definition (sharp). The images are stored on a large memory chip in the hub, and so zero fees to maintain recordings with a cloud service. Oh, the cameras have a PRIVACY setting so that recording may be turned off and on by camera. The Lorex Home software makes it extremely easy to find any event by time or camera as they are chronologically stored and viewable. The hub, because of it's limited, but valuable VOICE RECOGNITION makes it easy to find an event by saying "Lorex, display the garage camera between Xpm and Ypm. Voice recognition is nice and fast when you want to display a single camera or all camera view simultaneously with the split screen. I have a few Google Nest Cameras ( Kitchen, Front door bell), and integrating my Lorex cameras with the google system was very easy and quick. It enabled me to use my google Nest Home Max display to ask for and see either one of my 2 Lorex cameras. Alas, a limitation of the integration was that you may only send the display of 1 camera at a time to the google Nest display. You can pick either, but not both. If you want to see both (or 3 or 4 Lorex camera views simultaneously), you must use the Lorex display hub. Summary: An excellent surveillance system with excellent cameras, many features, and considering price -- an excellent buy. I highly recommend the Lorex home system.

Exceptional all in 1 Food Prep Toaster/oven/fryer

Oster has created a kitchen food prep appliance that is not only versatile, and easily transportable; it is economical and efficient in that it can reduce the time customarily needed for cooking. Size: About 2 ' x 1.5' x 1.5' -- does not require much counter space. My 10" pizza came out perfect, and the steak I broiled was excellent. Warming and toasting bread/ english muffins -- eezzee peezy. The air frying and convection capabilities all worked as desired. My only recommendation for improvement would be for toasting and cooking for short durations. Turning the timer past 20 minutes to then dial back for short durations such as 6 minutes is not difficult, but getting these short durations consistent is difficult. The timer does not have any indents. You can't tell if you are getting 5 minutes, 6 minutes, 7 minutes, etc., because of the lack of indents. This makes getting toast consistently the same a painstaking chore instead of easy. With a toaster, you find the setting you like and leave it there, but with the toast function that is not possible as each use causes the timer to be set differently and the ability to return to a setting exactly -- is a pain, if even possible. Bottomline: I love the appliance and highly recommend it for all it's functions. Note, add indents to the timer for short duration settings/future models.

Well made Espresso, but not when time is a concern

Most important, the Calphalon Temp IQ Espresso Machine makes absolutely delicious espresso! Having said that, there is work involved to achieve the desired end, and so one has to be dedicated and basically a gourmet to repeatedly and regularly use this machine. I own another brand machine that makes ristretto, espresso, lungo, cappuccino, latte macchiatto using sealed capsules with the push of a button. The espresso is almost as good as the Calphalon, at a higher cost per cup, but the convenience makes it worthwhile to me. The work: In order to make the espresso, one is instructed to 1st warm the tamper and the espresso cup by placing them on the top of the machine, which is made to warm both. The cup is then to be heated by using the steam wand and Hot Water setting until filled halfway. The hot water is then emptied as the cup has been prepped. The filter basket is then hand held under the machine group head while hot water flows and then shuts off. The filter basket is filled with coffee and must be tamped down to level, then inserted into the machine, and rotated almost 90 degrees to a locked position. This requires real force as the fitting is very tight. Then the prepped espresso cup is positioned , dial turned and espresso flows (either 1 cup or 2 depending on selected setting). Now the work begins as the the pitcher is filled with the skim milk to a set point. The pitcher must be handheld and adjusted such that the steam wand tip is positioned just below the milk surface; whereupon, the dial is turned to steam. The steam flows immediately. As the steam swirls the milk, the level rises and you must keep lowering the handheld milk pitcher to keep it just below the rising surface. You are supposed to stop once the pitcher get so hot that it is too hot to touch for 3 seconds, and you turn the dial from steam to ready. After enjoying the espresso, the machine must be cleaned of grinds, the steam wand cleaned of milk inside and out, etc. Bottomline: The end product is delicious, but the time and effort were too much for me. If you are an espresso aficionado, and don't mind the time and work involved, this machine is excellent and makes espresso "as good as it gets"; otherwise, I suggest an automatic espresso machine.

Superior robot vacuum at an excellent price point!

Aesthetics, it looks high tech with an upper cover that exudes quality & appears to be fabric, though it is molded. The weight is about 7.5 lbs, hence easily transportable by anyone to any area in the home. It is roughly 1 foot in diameter with a height of less than 4", so it can get to most anywhere dirt would accumulate. First step in using the i3 is to set it on its charging station for about 3 hours to be fully charged, and at the same time load the iRobot app. I used my iPhone and the app loaded quickly. Following the app instructions, my i3 was connected to my Wi-Fi network and paired with my iPhone in 3 minutes, and ready to test. I set barriers to contain the i3 to 2 rooms, and then I opened the iRobot app and clicked "Vacuum Everywhere." The beauty of the app is that you can schedule cleanings from anywhere , such as your car, office, etc. -- to run at the times/days you specified. You do not have to be home. The app enables you to start and stop the i3. The app also provides a display of everywhere it vacuumed. Though my house is mainly Apple prods, the iRobot can be set to run by voice command using Amazon's Alexa, or the Google Assistant. Performance: The suction is excellent and the i3 model did an excellent job on my tile, wood, and carpeted floors. I have area rugs, and the robot had no difficulty adjusting from wood or tile to rugs and back again. The wood floors were a concern as I didn't know if the wheels might leave scratches -- this vac was gentle and it did not leave any scratches. The robot battery life was a concern -- it should not have been! I used it first in my kitchen and family room (roughly 300 square feet). It ran for 51 minutes and finished the task extremely well. I then challenged the i3 with an area of about 600 square feet. It ran for 1 hour and 26 minutes non-stop before it returned home to the charging station, recharged (for approximately 1.5 hours), and then resumed where it had left off. When finished, I emptied the dirt collection bin of all debris -- very easy to empty as the bin releases from the vac with a touch on the release panel, and the bin empties with a touch on it's release button. The bin was close to max capacity, but not enough to trigger the red warning light that signals when the bin should be emptied. The bin also contains a filter that trapped extremely small particles. The filter is supposed to trap allergens, hence be replaced every 2 months. Features: You can tell the i3 to spot clean an area for extra cleaning, and the app says that new features are coming shortly to permit designating area that you want vacuumed. This is logical since after a bit the app will have mapped all your rooms or areas designated for cleaning (you may name areas). You can designate kitchen, master bedroom, etc. There are other features that may be had by buying the i3+ Roomba, e.g., a self emptying station with charger built in, however, that adds considerably to the price. I believe that iRobot has found a sweet spot via the plain i3 model pricing point. This is a superb vacuum for the money, and I strongly recommend it for anyone desiring clean vacuumed rooms with very little effort or time required.

Sturdy well made 2 port Charger w excellent cable

Belkin's 2 port wall charger (Provides 12W per each port for rapid charges) is well made, and provides quick charging for my iPads and iPhones, AND comes with a well made Lighning to USB-A cable. The Charger's rounded edges shape, very light weight, and folding plug design make it easy to carry in a pocket, hence handy. I have attached a photo of the charger that displays an Apple Lightning to USB-A cable beneath the Belkin supplied Lightning to USB-A cable for comparison. The Apple cable is of satisfactory construction, while the Belkin cable is a clear step up in construction, and made for longevity. This Belkin cable is much thicker, and both ends have connections that will not crack. Even a lay person will immediately perceive the higher quality of the Belkin provided cable. Bottomline: An improvement over the comparable Apple provided charger and cable, and enables 2 devices to simultaneously charge.

Great value, lots 2 like, tad short of excellence

Starting w construction: The case is sturdy, feels well made, and aesthetically pleasing, and a highly functional design. The 14” screen size hits a (IMHO) sweet spot that makes it ideally suited to being a highly transportable “Gaming” and general purpose computer. The 14’ design keeps the weight and size just about ideal. When you open the case and move the screen to your desired viewing angle, the keyboard begins to slant and the degree of slant is controllable. This is much better than a keyboard that lays flat or is slightly angled because the case was made not to be flat. You may open the case to a 90 degree angle and have the keyboard lay basically flat, or open the case screen beyond 90 degrees to achieve your ideal keyboard angle relative to the screen (NICE design feature). The keyboard is backlit, and the keys highly visible when looking straight down on them; however, as your angle relative to viewing the keys deviates from from vertical, the backlighting degrades rapidly and is wanting. The keyboard has a fingerprint sensor/power on/off button. After a minute of training the sensor it becomes functional and has been a pleasure to use instead of entering a PIN or Password. Cursor control via the built-in touch pad is truly superb. Every touchpad I have ever used requires a minor degree of pressure to achieve a “CLICK” and hence execute a touch (like a mouse click). This touchpad only requires lifting your finger and then an extremely gentle touch with a finger to complete the click (of course you may push hard to an achieve an audible and tactile CLICK, but that is not necessary. This was a first for me and I have come to like this feature very much. There are many functional hot keys that facilitate chores. One example would be the key labeled PrtSC. There are several others. The keyboard space bar is uniquely shaped to instantly help orient your hands for key entry (another nice touch). The screen display excellent with vibrant colors and zero bleeding or blurred edges during game play. The twin speakers at each end of the keyboard produce excellent sound for their size. The case has plenty of USB 3 ports, and an HTML port, microphone port, etc. The case also has Many air exchange slots to eliminate any possibility of overheating. As for performance, the AMD Ryzen 7 - 4800H does not lack for Central Processing Unit (CPU) power. Based on my experience with notebook computers that have Intel i5 and even i7 CPUs clocked out to 3.0ghz, this AMD CPU holds it’s own and does the job more than adequately. The speed with which this computer boots up and is ready to rock is impressive, and attributable to its storage being an 500 Gig Solid State Drive (SSD) rather than a conventional spinning platter HD (Hard drive). Regardless of how fast the CPU, or how much Random Acess Memory (RAM), the long pole in the tent is input/output to the mass storage HD. This computer was built with a very capable and fast SSD. As computer programs gain in sophistication and complexity, they demand more and more memory to minimize time spent going to mass storage SSD. This computer has adequate RAM at 8 GB, but I believe it should come with 16 GB. That amount of RAM will become the minimum for serious gaming in the near future. Other niceties: This computer comes with an app called ARMOURY CRATE. The app does many things such as providing easy peezy control of computer processes. At a glance one can view and control which processes should be stopped when gaming to enhance game performance, free up extra memory. Among many controls ARMOURY CRATE provides are GAME VISUAL refinements. For example, you can set the display for RACING to enhance fast paced games, or set the display to SCENARY for vibrant hues and contrasts/brightness. There is a setting for FPS to enhance visibility in dark scenes. All in all, there are 8 choices to select from to enhance gaming enjoyment. As for negatives, the only glaring missing feature in this price range is the lack of a camera. I understand that a camera is probably not a frequently used function in a GAMING computer, but this computer would be a superb GAMING and general purpose machine that could successfully compete with more expensive computers without giving up any ground in all highly desirable capabilities. These days (COVID 19 hunkering down), ZOOMING has become amazingly popular (as well as FACETIME chats, etc.), and a camera is pretty much to be expected. That being said, I am now an avid fan of ASUS computers with the newest RYZEN CPUs, and believe most folks that look at this particular computer (The ROG Zephyrus G14) will agree that it is not only exceptionally capable, but a true feature packed value.

State of The Art way to brush your teeth -- Better

I thought it was going to be a toothbrush comparable or perhaps slightly improved over my prior half dozen electric toothbrushes -- I was wrong! Oral-B has raised the bar and brushing effectively will never be the same. The key to brushing effectively is not missing any spots and not applying too much or too little pressure as you brush. It has never been possible to precisely do this until Oral-B developed the iO series of brushes where a bluetooth connection and precise conveying of coordinates when the brush is in the mouth of the user are combined with an extraordinary software app you load on your smart phone. As you brush, the app displays an image and shows where you missed a spot, or applied the incorrect amount of pressure. Simply wonderful, effective, and valuable. Additionally, the brush has a small footprint stand that facilitates it always being charged with ease. Simply place the brush on the stand. The brush itself has multiple modes of speeds and angles that the user may choose from to be most comfortable. The actual brushes that are available offer choices to facilitate rigid, soft, ultra soft, etc. Bottomline: This toothbrush is a game changer and as the number sold rises and the price comes down, all electric toothbrushes will have to chase this technology to match it's brushing effectiveness. Kudos to Oral-B!!

This is more than a large room filling speaker in that it easily accepts inputs from most any device and connection that you could choose.
If you like to use songs stored on or streaming to a smart phone or a tablet, bluetooth pairing takes a minute and works flawlessly. Additionally, if you have music stored on a memory device, there are 2 USB ports. The Giga Party speaker will also synch musical sound with multi colored lights, hence the name Giga PARTY speaker. Samsung makes available a Giga Party Audio app for free. The app enables the speaker lights to alternate, and to flash different colors depending on the effect selected such as PARTY, DANCE, AMBIENT, etc. There are also DJ sound effects that may be selected as well as an echo effect. The speaker housing is “V” shaped and enables sound to be cast in 2 directions. When I placed the speaker in the corner of a large room, the sound traveled down the adjacent walls and everywhere in between reaching every part of the room. I followed the Bluetooth pairing directions and was using my Apple iPhone music library in 2 minutes. After pushing the BASS button, the sound was awesome. Though I only have 1 speaker, Samsung software has a stereo setting that may be selected — if you have 2 speakers. It will also play (according to the manual) in “GROUP” mode with up to 10 speakers. There is a microphone jack to facilitate selecting and using the Karaoke mode. I liked the small LCD information screen at the top of the speaker to confirm commands from the remote control, and provide info regarding the title of the digital music playing. My only complaint was the lag that occurred when using the remote (which must be pointed directly at the speaker display). I am accustomed to touching controls on my remotes and having virtually zero lag time. This remote had latency for some reason and should be improved to minimize multiple touches to achieve volume adjustments, the on/off command, etc. Everything worked as described and the sound quality for a Party speaker was everything I had hoped for :-)

This remote had latency for some reason and should be improved to minimize multiple touches to achieve volume adjustments, the on/off command, etc. Everything worked as described and the sound quality for a Party speaker was everything I had hoped for :-)

I have owned a dozen external hard drives over several years and multiple computers. All the drives were traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) with platters spinning at either 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm (the latter make for faster reads and writes). Though my 2 desktop iMac computers both have what Apple calls FUSION storage ( a Solid State Drive (SSD) coupled with a large HDD), this was my 1st exposure to using an external “SSD”. It is significantly faster (like 2X) than any HDD I have used at both retrieving and storing data.
I believe Samsung has created external storage in its new 1 Terabyte T7 SSD that will hit a sweet spot in the marketplace.
Specifically, the Samsung T7 external storage is ultra portable. It weighs less than 2 ounces. It is extremely small (see photo next to my Apple mouse), as well as only requiring a tiny USB cable — external power not needed as it powers off the USB connection. Imagine 1 TB of lightning fast computer storage that fits in any shirt pocket and is so light weight that you don’t even know it is there:-)
The drive was true plug and play/use, and faster than my HDDs when storing and retrieving my 30 to 45 minute video files. My HDDs are basically quiet, but this SDD is totally silent. I would never drop any external storage device, but I believe this drive’s light weight and lack of any moving parts would make it rugged enough to survive a 4 to 5 foot drop without any damage. Finally, the Samsung SSD drive came loaded with software that will, if activated, encrypt everything written to the drive. You simply create a password and are good to go. If you ever lose the drive, or it is stolen, it will be useless and worthless to the thief. On a drive this portable, encryption does become very important.

Bottomline: Pricing of SSDs versus HDDs has been the major drawback preventing external “SDDs” from eliminating external “HDDs” from the marketplace for most consumer uses. Samsung has reduced (not eliminated) the price differential in this T7 SSD to where the advantages of its SSD external drives can be justified (IMHO) because the higher price versus an HDD is now modest.

Does this speaker have an FM tuner?
The speaker is a superb speaker, it does not have any kind of tuner. If you can get the music you want to play on your smartphone, or tablet, or computer -- it will play on the speaker via bluetooth pairing. It takes 1 minute to pair the speaker and then the speaker remembers the next time you get near and turn on your smartphone, tablet, etc. In short, there is no need for a tuner if you have a current smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Local onboard or local HD storage is not an option. A subscription for 1 camera provides 30 days of clip storage at 2K resolution at a modest less than $3 per month cost. Subscriptions for multiple cameras are discounted.

With an Arlo pro 4 how far from the camera(how many feet) will it detect motion and how many degress of coverage once motion is activated
I have not tested with a measuring tape, but would estimate approximately 20 feet at a minimum. I found the coverage area to be as advertised, i.e., 160 degrees.

How many local dimming zones does the 55" have?
I do not know the number off the top of my head, and that info is easily obtainable by visiting the Hisense site and simply viewing the TV's specs. I can tell you that everything I have watched from action movies at SD, HD, 4K, HDR -- all are without blur, magnificent contrast, very black black and truly white whites.
