GALAXY TAB A RANDOM REBOOT MYSTERY! BUYER BEWARE!
on February 9, 2017

This tablet was working great for the first few weeks. Then it started randomly rebooting when streaming movies from Crackle and Netflix. It has gotten to the point where it reboots 1 to 2 times a day! I have a new 128gb Sandisk SDXC card in it. Movies downloaded from Netflix are saved on the SD card. What a huge disappointment Samsung!

Well balance sound. Comfortable earpads.
on September 17, 2016

You will get well balanced sound from these JBL 300's. Not a muddy overload of bass but just enough for any type of music. Good mid-range for vocals, horns, etc. The highs are descent but could be a little brighter. By comparison, the lower priced JBL Synchos E40BT headphones sound a little brighter but don't have as much bass. The Everest 300's ear cushions are thicker and extremely soft and comfortable. They are cushioned more than the JBL Synchos line. The headband is padded but when it presses the top of my head long enough, I get a mild headache. I have worn these in the gym and even though they aren't noise cancelling, they manage to cut out a lot of surrounding noise. One potential annoyance...the headphones creak a little as the earpieces pivot/adjust to your jaw movements. You can hear the creaks. Note that the headphones do stick out a bit since they made the earpieces with the ability to move independently from the headband. Another possible annoyance...it's easy to hit the pair button accidentally. You have to remember the volume/pause is on the left while pairing/power is on the right. For $149, not a bad product. Better than the overpriced Beats Solo 2 for the money.

Seriously Overpriced 3D Bluray
on June 20, 2016

The 3D effects are great using James Camron's 3D cameras BUT there is no excuse for this 3D bluray being as expensive as it is considering it's not even an hour long. It seems Cirque du Soleil is trying to make up for the people that don't go see the live show by seeing this instead. They get away with it by putting Camron's name on it. I would recommend it only if you can find it heavily discounted.

WiFi Light Out! No Signal!
on December 13, 2015
Posted by: ron111
from San Diego
I started having connection issues about 1 week after flawless usage in my home. I noticed the WiFi icon on my phone was off as well as the computer which showed a blank network settings box. I then looked on the router and noticed the WiFi light was OFF. How could this happen on a brand new router? I had to cycle the power on the router to fix it (until it happens again). I will be returning the product ASAP.

Colors Not Accurate & No 5.1 Via Optical Out
on November 13, 2015
Posted by: ron111
from San Diego
I have a currently working 8 year old Sony 720p flat screen LCD which I used to compare side by side with the Roku Insignia 55". Here's what I found. When it comes to colors, shades of red, yellow, and ocean blue are a bit off. There's a hint of blue in the red. You can see this example on the VW Jetta Christmas commercial featuring a red car. Also look at the Buffalo Bills red uniforms. The Tivo DVR's menu yellow text that says "My Shows" look greenish. The Tivo circular record light looks bluish red. The Netflix opening red screen is another example. Additionally, certain shades of yellow can have a hint of green in them. Example would be the Green Bay Packers colors. Lastly, look at ocean colors. This is one of the best color accuracy tests. On this set, the ocean leans towards an unnatural blue hue, not real life greenish blue.
When it comes to sound, note that the optical out does not output 5.1 audio even if you're on Netflix streaming a 5.1 movie. I found this out when I connected the optical cable to my Onkyo receiver and it showed Pro Logic II only.
As far as motion blur, I watched a half dozen football games and didn't notice anything that stood out. Everything seems acceptable when it comes to motion.
The colors wash out and look off hue when watching from an angle and not at eye level. Like most low to mid line LED TVs, you need to be right in the center which is very unfortunate.
Will be taking back before the short 15 day return period ends.

Poor Battery Charging
on July 27, 2015

A poorly charging battery ruined the 20 minutes of good, powerful sound I was able to get from the TDK Trek 360 sound cube. Out of the box, I charged it until the red light went out. I noticed it took only about 15 minutes to charge. It played music for about 20 minutes and then it died. No power. No after a 2nd recharge attempt, power doesn't come on at all. What's worse, you can't use it while it's charging.

Great Picture When Settings Are Right! Here's Mine
on December 6, 2014
Posted by: ron111
from San Diego
It took me a few days to get the settings just right and what a difference it makes! I'm not using game mode since it greys out some of the settings from being adjusted. The picture is rich in color with deep contrast range. I found that turning on Live Color (low setting) and turning Gamma down to -2 made a huge difference too. If you don't want to ruin the settings you already have, try them on another input since each one can have its own separate settings. I'm not seeing motion blur or a tail on the end of the football in sports (mainly because motionflow and cinemotion are off and the scene selection is sports). I've found that everything looks good with these settings whether I'm watching movies, sports or video files via DLNA.
Like most LCD/LED screens these days, optimum viewing angle is limited to about 30 degrees to either side before you notice the picture washing out. This is different from my old 2007 Sony S series flat screen which has about a 50 degree angle of acceptable view. If you can catch this TV on sale like I did, it's totally worth it.

I actually saw this LG frig next to a Maytag 20.6 cu.ft. frig M1TXEGMYS in Home Depot. I couldn't believe the difference in quality inside and out. Solid shelves in the freezer and refirgerator. A glass shelf in the freezer, not flimsy thin wire shelving like the Maytag M1TXEGMYS. Racks in the doors that don't easily pop off like the Maytag. Nice thick doors. I also love the no-handle doors which are nicely arch shaped.
What's great about it: High quality parts. High quality feel.

NO CHANGE IN SPEED NOTICED YET
on May 27, 2010
Posted by: ron111

I UPGRADED MY MODEM FROM A MOTOROLA SB5120 DOCSIS 2.0 TO THE SB6120 WITH DOCSIS 3.0. I'M IN A COX SAN DIEGO AREA THAT HAS SUPPOSEDLY BEEN UPGRADED TO 3.0, YET WHEN I DID A SPEED TEST, THE DOWNLOAD SPEED IS THE SAME AS THE OLDER MODEM (ABOUT 25 Mbps). THERE HAS BEEN A INCREASE IN THE UPLOAD SPEED (TO 6Mbps) WITH THE NEW MODEM BUT THAT'S IT FOR NOW.
IT SEEMS THAT DOWNLOAD SPEEDS DEPEND ON WHAT TIME OF DAY THE TEST IS RUN BUT THAT'S A CABLE SERVICE ISSUE, NOT MOTOROLA ISSUE. SLOWER SPEEDS OF ABOUT 15Mbps IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY WITH FASTER SPEEDS IN THE LATE NIGHT HOURS. THESE SPEED CHANGES ARE NOT NOTICEABLE DURING NORMAL WEB USAGE HOWEVER.
I CONNECTED THE MODEM DIRECTLY TO THE COMPUTER WITH NO ROUTER IN BETWEEN. IT DOES SHOW THE NETWORK CONNECTION AS Gbps WITH A BLUE ACTIVITY LIGHT. WHEN I CONNECT THE MODEM TO THE WIRELESS N 300 ROUTER, THE NET STATUS CHANGES TO Mbps WITH A ORANGE ACTIVITY LIGHT.
THERE IS NO USB CONNECTION BUT I THINK THAT'S BECAUSE ETHERNET MAY BE FASTER BUT THE OLDER MODEM HAD BOTH. I DIDN'T USE USB ANYWAY IN PREVIOUS YEARS.
AT LEAST I'M FUTURE PROOF IN THE EVENT THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE SERVICE THAT ALLOWS THE 3.0 MODEM TO REALLY SHOW ITS STUFF. I'LL PROBABLY KEEP THIS MODEM FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS UNLESS I DISCONTINUE SERVICE DUE TO EVER-RISING CABLE PRICES.
What's great about it: N/A
What's not so great: NO DOCSIS 3.0 PERFORMANCE INCREASE NOTICED YET

Welcome to the 1900's
By EddieH68 from Buffalo, NY
I ordered this Blu-Ray player on line. It turns out the "smart" blue ray player needs to be directly connected to your internet. I really wish Best Buy had emphasized it needs to be hard wired to use any of the internet services. Their product specs don't mention this anywhere. It would have saved me a hassle. My router is on the opposite side of the house as my son's room. Hard wiring is not only out dated but won't work for me. It turns out that for the exact same price Phillips has a smart "wi-fi" blu-ray player that's supposedly exactly the same but can utilize a wireless internet connection. So why sell one without the wireless connection for the same price?? Increase profits by a couple bucks or more likely anger customers who expect 21st century products. --> I can't comment on picture quality or anything because this baby didn't even get played. Back in the box and back to the store for the hassle of exchanging it.

"Smart" Doesn't Mean "Wireless"
June 11, 2014
Nowhere does it say "WI-FI" player. Smart doesn't mean wireless. There are smart TV's that also aren't WI-FI but have a Ethernet port. There are some people who don't need it to be wireless because they either don't intend to use the smart features or have a router nearby with hardwired ports hence this model.

I hate being lied to...
By enix04
Brought this home today, was advertised as a 120hz tv (motionflow 240). The picture was great, as expected, but I quickly noticed your average 60hz motion blur/ ghosting, which is why I wanted a 120hz TV to avoid that. Generally I get it, most companies double the native refresh rate and put something about motion next to it to fool people into thinking they are getting a deal and all you have to do is divide by 2 to get the native refresh rate. Well Sony has gone one step further and started multiplying the native refresh rate by 4 depending on the motion blur reduction tech they use. They've added 2 separate frame interpolation techniques in this model so they think it's ok to bump 60hz to "Motionflow 240", and most sites, including this one, are advertising it as a 120hz set. Sony's website do not mention the refresh rate at all and the only mention of a refresh rate in the manual says 60hz. Also the 1 star rating mentioning this earlier has mysteriously disappeared. Needless to say I'm very upset and will be returning it ASAP.

Research & 120hz Overhype
November 22, 2014
There has been lots of discussion about this in forums, etc. I'm assuming you didn't research online beforehand. Even The Zon and Wally have this TV listed as 120hz. I also think some people are more sensitive to motion than others. Keep in mind that the movies and cameras are recording in 60hz anyway. I have a 7 year old Sony flat screen model 46s2000. It was made before all this 120hz/240hz stuff came out. Sports looks just fine to me. I have yet to see any major difference between 60hz an 120hz when viewing sports. Yet some people with 120hz/240hz complain about a "plastic"/fake looking picture. If you absolutely have to have 120hz native the Sony W series is what you want. Keep in mind there is no 120hz native content.

Great TV for the Price
By luckydog60
Purchased the TV today, when I unpacked it there were only small bolts in what appeared to be the wall mounting space. It says online that it is not wall mountable but in the manual there are wall mounting suggestions. I thought all TV's were wall mountable. The spacing seemed to fit my brackets but probably didnt get anymore than 3-4 threads into the bolt hole. I decided to go ahead and hang it, if it falls it falls. A large earthquake may bring it down but It seems to be pretty solid. I am a sports fan so the first thing I did was find a game. Thats how I define good or bad. It passed with flying colors, football and basketball. I had a 50 inch plasma and went up to the 60 inch. You cant beat the price and the picture is nice. I dont use the sound on it because I have a Bose sound system.

Sony MotionFlow & Sports
November 22, 2014
You addressed my biggest concern which is sports. Being that the KDL60R510A is technically a 60hz TV which is then enhanced via Sony's MotionFlow 240 to simulate 120hz, I wondered how blur-free fast moving shots would look,

KDL60R510A good deal here on sale.
By Got99Problemz
First of all, this is not a 120hz TV. Sony doesn't say that it is, box doesn't say it, books don't say it. I don't know why every retailer is listing it as one. But I've spent about 8hrs today on it and here are my thoughts.
+Screen was flawless backlighting even. No bleed to be seen. Sexy slim bezel. Well built. But hey..its a Sony.
+ Easy setup. I plugged this TV in and after a 3 step setup and internet connectivity (built in WiFi# it was good to go. Took about 10 minutes.
+Smart features. I like that it has a Netflix button and other options, pretty good for this price point #$650)
+Picture. Not 120hz but feels like it. Smooth images. I watched a few movies on this thing and I have to say Sony's color production is beautiful. I felt like I was watching things for the first time. It also seems to handle the 1080p24 cinema input well. No judders. The True Motion isn't that great, there are Jaggies that will outline some cluttered fast content with it turned all the way up. Hopefully firmware update will fix it.
I'll update this review after I watch the Patriots game Sunday.
+Lag. So I couldn't find a 'Game Mode' setting on this thing however the latency is minimal it feels 30ms'ish. Played Destiny and barely noticed a difference compared to my Asus 1ms monitor. Sony is know for good gaming TV's and this doesn't differ.
-Settings. I've only seen 3 picture settings. Vivid, Standard and Custom. Custom is the only one that allows you to use advanced settings and modify the image to your desire. That being said there are only basic controls to due so. Gamma, brightness, color temp and hue are present but color spectrum controls are not so RGB modification isn't possible. It took some time and effort to get the image perfect for me. Out off the box thou the picture is pretty.
-Sound. At this point of the 21st century pretty much every TV will have obsolete sound. Yes it has speakers, no it wont blow women's clothes off. Get a sound bar and sub or some Klipsch surround sound like me.
-Not 120hz as advertised. Not sure if I'm gonna return it on principle or keep it cause its so pretty to look at. Its kinda like dating a stripper. :P
All in all for a $650 price tag I find it worth it for my basic Game Room TV needs. I figure I'll go low budget with this TV for a year or two, by 2016 4kUHD content should be in abundance and the technology for it cheaper and better. I'll save up for my Theater Room TV till then.

Excellent Value for 60" LED Class!
By Deftone84
Went in looking for a 55" Panasonic LED, but ended buying this instead. Definitely an upgrade for 5" more in size and being a Sony, it was a steal at $799. Comes with 3 HDMI inputs which is good considering many similar TVs in this price range only have 2. Picture quality is excellent so far. Definitely better than my previous Samsung LCD. Settings are easy to setup and so far I've had no issues with motion blurring on regular programming. I'm not a gamer so couldn't tell you if it's good for them or not. Definitely works well in dimly lit rooms or with shades drawn. Would definitely recommend! Hard to beat the price for the features you get.

Awesome TV, For a Sony Quality its a steal for 650
By rhyne from CA
Good thing that i did not listen to those who complained that this is just a 60 hz TV. I cant really confirm but i dont care.
All i know is the color tones are perfect, vibrant, sharp and image depth looks like 3D. Does not need tweaking or calibration, perfect image already out of the box. Latest Netflix movies are showing like near blu-ray quality, No blurring watching sports events like what others claim, they probably got a defective one or exaggerating the issue. Unlike the others, I actually like the soap opera effect when you turn on the MotionFlow , but you can of course turn it off if you dont . Its even better than the other 60" model i got from Sony months back (more than 1000) where i thought was already perfect.
Experience with this TV is so great that i feel like I grabbed a black Friday doorbuster for the price and quality.
Only complain is the apps does not contain amazon prime streaming . When i tried to do a software update hoping to get it, i got a network error. I called Sony support and i was informed that since this is a new model, there is no software update available yet causing the error. I hope they will include that app soon.
This is my 5th Sony unit but this is the best price value i have so far.

Good value ONLY IF properly calibrated
By pixel
You need to calibrate this TV. It's a mess hooking up as a computer monitor if you don't. I've been using it while hooked up to a receiver, which is in turn hooked up to multiple game consoles and PCs.
Lag comes from using motion compensation, which is not needed. When processing is off, lag is low- So low I've no problem playing pinball videogames.

ok since it is an LED/LCD TV it is brighter then my KDL52V4100, but the picture quality is by far lower then my 8 year old LCD, this 60R510 was just not meant for large screens what I believe, it's just not there for even $650, let alone $800, the bezel the whole TV seems real nice until you turn it on, then you start seeing curtains on the screen, when you turn all the contrast enhancer and black corrector up and you watch a dark scene it looks like Film burning, that's just ridiculous, it's no wonder why Best Buy doesn't have them on display.

Is this 3D ready?

Confusing if this is a 3D capable TV by the specs?
