You definitely hear Dave Grohl's influence here. I'm a fan of progressive rock and this is almost progressive country rock. The sound here is a departure from ZBB previous releases. I can't wait for volume 2.

I'm a fan of anything Mike Portnoy. Another project that shows his diverse playing style and tastes in music. Lead singer reminds me of Sammy Hagar. But he is very good singer in His own right.

What's not so great: Good solid songs. no commercial standouts. but that's a good thing too.

Spoiler Alert. Zombies on Mars

Okay so it becomes another zombie survivalst movie. But it is done well and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Another what happens when man pushes the boundaries outside of earth. Somewhat new twist on what causes the people to degenrate into zombie like creatures and then go rampaging to suck the water out of other humans on Mars. Yes, you guessed it a virus/bacteria type infection. Twist is they die and the bacteria reanimates them and uses them as a host vessel to move to other feeding grounds. Classic SciFi story convention. Liev Schreiber rules the movie. Other characters are intersting if not cliched.

Very Good SciFi if not somewhat predictable

Worth a watch. Interesting SciFi story. Done very realistically by current standards and believable with current technology or that not so far off in the future. I didn't really like the POV filming like a reality show but I got used to it and it worked by the end. Shows you what could go wrong on a long voyage into space.

What's not so great: POV. I wasn't too keen on the reality show type filming of it but it worked.

A progressive rock masterpiece!

Transatlantic is THE supergroup of this millenia. Their fourth studio release is by far their most cohesive composition yet. The writing and music sound like a perfect blend of all their own bands and past projects. They have a bonafide single in the song "Shine" and Roine's guitar solo on this song is a standout. Reminiscent of his best work in the Flower Kings (i.e. the solo in Garden of Dreams from their live release Meet the Flower Kings). Neal is at it again with spitritual lyrics but Roine's darker sidings balance all of it out. Nothing preachy or in your face. MIke and Pete, the perfect prog rhythym section. Look for Daniel Gildenlow's guest vocal on track 1 (another standout moment). 5 stars, a must have!

What's great about it: Musicianship. Neal, Roine, Pete and Mike are at their prog best. Very cohesive. This is now a band realized as a band.

What's not so great: This is just the single cd. Search out the cd/dvd set for great extras. If you can't find it but the single cd anyways.

Another great release from TTB. Solid musicianship all around. If you are expetcting another "Revelator" type cd you might be a little disappointed. The songs are enjoyable but not that memorable on the first listen through, unlike "Revelator". May need a few listens to take it all in. But then that's a sure sign that this is good blues/rock music that will hold up over time. TTB is one of those unique bands out there and any release from them is worth the money and listening to.
