I can't say I've seen any of the other Hitman movies but thankfully if you haven't seen them, you won't be totally lost viewing this one as most people will be able to figure out what's going on. I couldn't say the plot was the most elaborate by any means but if you want a movie with plenty of action, this one will be right up your alley.
The majority of movies based on Marvel characters over the last several years have been generally great movies... sadly though, Fox who owns the rights to the Fantastic Four just can't seem to make a good movie based on these characters, a bit surprising considering how well they have done with the X Men and more recently, Deadpool. I will give credit in that The Thing and The Human Torch both looked the best they have ever looked up on a movie screen... the effects were decent thankfully. Unfortunately, there just wasn't much of a plot... there might still be a sequel but assuming one is made, they need to figure out something different.
Even though this film is more geared at the older crowd (other then myself and one other couple, we were the youngest people in the theater.. everyone else was senior citizens), this was still a pretty enjoyable and entertaining movie for everyone. After purchasing the movie I watched it with my dad and he enjoyed it as much as I did.
What DC has trouble with doing on the big screen, they seem to do a good job with on the small screen. Arrow is well done and enjoyable to even the average comic fan like me. Decent story lines and action is enough to keep people watching.
From the Marvel Universe come the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ready to defend the citizens of the world. In the aftermath of the battle between invading aliens and the Earth's mightiest heroes, the Avengers, the special law-enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. begins to intensively recruit new agents to investigate bizarre events and superhuman sightings. Led by Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), this mismatched team of super spies, geeky scientists, sneaky con artists and regular Joes with extraordinary gifts will have to come together as the first line of defense against the evil forces who seek to corrupt and destroy.
While I'm not a hardcore comics fan, I do enjoy most of the comic based movies, particularly those released by Marvel Studios... as it turns out, they do a pretty good job with television as well. Agents Of SHIELD gives us a look at Agent Coulson and his crew going around and dealing with a variety of unusual people and items.
James Cameron knocked it out of the park with this sequel to the movie Alien. Sigourney Weaver is back as Ripley, woken up after decades in deep space. She tries to warn the corporation that the planet she and her crew is visited is dangerous only to be told that their has been a small colony there for awhile although recently they had lost contact with it. The action picks up as Ripley and a group of military head for the colony to see what's happening... needless to say its not long before people start to die. If you enjoy good sci-fi action then this movie is definitely right up your alley and worth checking out if you haven't already done so.
Even though the 60's were a little before my time (even though I was born in the latter part of the 60's), the music of the decade comes alive in this flick. The movie has plenty of meaning in both the underlying theme regarding the Vietnam war and the music that helped inspire a generation. At the very least this film is worth picking up for the music alone but its a good movie all around.
For fans of Andrew "Dice" Clay, this was the movie that they couldn't wait for when it came out. When watching it now, sure its a bit dopey and some of the acting was a little iffy but if you were a Dice fan, the humor is what you was there to see anyway. Anyone familiar with the Diceman knows his humor wasn't for the faint of heart and should expect that same humor to be in this film as well. For those of us that liked Dice, this is a fun look back at his heyday and also features some great tunes from the time period.
As with many sequels, this movie couldn't quite live up to that of the original. While not in contention for any Oscars to be sure, it had its moments but at the end of the day it just couldn't make you laugh as much as the first one did. Its worth a watch if you liked the first one but probably rent it before you buy it kind of movie.
Black Sea was a movie I had hoped to catch in a theater, specially after reading decent reviews of the it, sadly it didn't make much of a splash in theaters so I had to wait for the video release. I watched the movie finally and I enjoyed it for the most part. While I didn't think it was as good as some of the other submarine oriented movies out there like "Crimson Tide" or "Hunt For Red October", I still found the movie to be good entertainment and can recommend it, specially if you enjoy movies that take place underwater.
