Major improvements with some minor issues.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro features some pretty major improvements over the Pixel 7 but still manages to have some minor issues that are kind of annoying considering its price point. The design of the phone itself is greatly improved, gone are the curved edges of the screen (who decided those were a good idea?), but their is still a fairly significant amount of screen space being eaten up by the bezel of the screen.
My biggest issue with the Pixel 8 Pro is the aluminum edge and the brushed glass back, they both end up being very slick feeling and makes it almost a necessity to have some kind of case on this phone before it goes flying out of your hands. As someone who prefers to use only a screen protector on my phone this is extremely disappointing as I am constantly worried about dropping the phone, it also doesn't help that the camera bar gets easily snagged on your pocket when putting it in or taking it out of your pocket, paired with the slick feeling sides and back this snag is a recipe for disaster.
Other than that issue, the phone is a definite improvement over the Pixel 7, with even more improvements in software and hardware the Pixel 8 Pro is a better phone all around than the 7. Google has added even more AI features that work onboard the phone and with the better hardware they work great. The Pixel 8 Pro does everything better than the 7 and has made some really good changes that were much needed; rounded screen why?, but there is definitely still room for improvement.

The Brother - MFC-L3780CDW Wireless Color All-in-One Digital Printer is a great color laser printer for your small business or home office with many powerful and useful tools available. Printing is fairly fast regardless of whether you are printing in color or black and white. When printing two sided it does seem a little slow, but not overly so. The scanner is super fast and is extremely high quality and is easy to use. Setup is easy, once you unbox and unpack this large printer, with easy to follow instructions and a mobile app available for printer management. I was a little unimpressed with how little paper the printer seems to hold, out of a standard ream of paper, it only held somewhere around a quarter of the paper in the pack. This seems a bit lacking for something that is meant to be used in a small business or home office. Otherwise, I am overall impressed with this printer and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an all in one color laser printer. I will mention a few issues and caveats below, but they are not deal breaking in my opinion just minor annoyances more than anything.
Software for Mac only worked after installing the full software package from the product support page, or the Brother iPrint&Scan software from the app store. You then have to select your machine and then go to machine scan settings and setup a folder for scans to go by default. This will then allow you to scan from the printer and save it onto your Mac. Otherwise, you can use the scanner app built into Mac to scan from the Mac itself, either way works it just depends if you are using this in an office with multiple computers or if you are just using it connected to one computer.
One of the biggest complaints I have is how the installed software constantly tries to collect your information and makes it difficult to turn off data collection. Every screen and pop-up defaults to collecting your information and makes it unclear or difficult to see if you've turned off data collection. Besides this I am also not very impressed with the software, it seems very old and clunky to setup and use, and while there are powerful features and tools available for this printer, getting to those options and selecting them can be very difficult and not very intuitive.

The Shark Detect Pro Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum is a great robot vacuum and one that I would recommend to anyone looking for a robot vacuum. Set up is easy using Shark's app as it walks you through all the steps for getting the Shark vacuum connected to your home network as well as running your first mapping run. With the Shark's "LiDAR vision" the map is extremely accurate and makes the initial mapping run very quick as the vacuum doesn't actually have to go over every part of your house to make the map. The one downside that I had with this is that it actually detected my back porch through my sliding glass door and detected it as part of my house during the mapping run, this is easily fixed as you can just mark it off of the map after the run is done. Cleaning is relatively quick with my 1200 square foot apartment taking about an hour total for the whole apartment to be cleaned including carpeted and hardwood floors. The vacuum is extremely quiet while cleaning on carpet, but it can be a bit loud when cleaning on hardwood flooring.
I am extremely impressed with the Shark robot vacuum and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a robot vacuum.

The Technics Premium Class Ottava Premium All-In-One Music System (SC-C70MK2) is an amazing sounding and beautifully designed music system that allows you to play your CDs as well as several music streaming platforms. That said there are no audio outputs on this device and the only way to expand the amount of speakers you can have with this device is to use Chromecast speakers. I would like to see the ability to add this to an amplifier and to add it to my existing audio system.
The built in speakers and subwoofer on this unit sound amazing in most rooms and as long as you put it in a room where the Spacetune Auto optimization can configure the sound for the room it will make it sound amazing in almost all instances. Obviously there are some rooms or situations where the sound quality will not be the greatest, but I did not have these issues in my apartment living room and it sounded amazing.
This seems like a very niche product, if this is something you are looking for I think you will be more than pleased, this is an amazing product with great sound and a beautiful design that fits well with most decor. That said, I do not see the use in this device, it is a stereo speaker system with a CD player and streaming options, it cannot be extended with additional speakers as there are no audio outputs on this device, and I don't count being able to add Chromecast speakers or devices as a good option for expansion. Excellent upgrade for your handheld gaming device!

The WD Black SN770M 2230 PCIe Gen 4 SSD is an amazing upgrade for your handheld gaming system. If you are going to use this in your ROG Ally it is recommended to make a backup of your current drive so that you don't have to wait for your Ally to rebuild from scratch. WD has a cloning tool available on their website that allows you to do this process, you will just need an external enclosure to put the SSD drives into for cloning. Installation of the drive into the ROG Ally is very easy and involves simply removing screws on the back of the handheld, disconnecting the power, and then taking the old drive out and putting the new one in. If you need help with this installation there are plenty of videos available to help with this process.
The drive itself is a standard M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD with a 2230 size. This means that while it is a perfect fit for the ROG Ally, it is also compatible with any Gen 4 SSD with a 2230 slot. I have used this inside of my laptop and desktop, there are also smaller laptops which have a 2230 SSD slot which this can be used in.
I think this is a great choice for anyone who is looking to expand their game library and to increase their speeds on their handheld devices. With WD's excellent warranty and great customer support this is an easy choice for anyone looking to get an upgrade for their devices.

The Acer - Predator Orion 5000 Gaming Desktop is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a desktop gaming computer. The combination of processor and GPU in this particular model is the perfect fit between gaming power and the ability to actually cool it. Intel's i series processors are infamously hot running CPUs, but the i7-13700F is the perfect amount of power that is still easily cooled. I have attached temperature readings that I took while stressing the system and only a few of the cores reached 100c while running at full tilt, during this time the fans were running and while they were definitely audible they were not annoyingly loud.
The Acer Predator Orion uses mostly consumer parts so if you later decide that you want to make upgrades it is extremely easy to do. This particular model comes with a 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD already installed, it is upgradable with another full size M.2 PCIe slot available as well as a smaller 2230 sized M.2 slot. There are 2 available RAM slots on this model allowing you to add additional RAM as needed, with a total of 4 slots, there is also an additional full sized PCIe slot available on the motherboard if you are interested in adding any expansion cards. The motherboard itself is a custom Acer motherboard with a slightly limited BIOS that could cause issues depending on the hardware that you try to install, but it also works perfectly fine. My only complaint with this computer is how big the case is, there is a lot of empty space in this case which is great if you later want to change out the motherboard for something larger, there are standoffs for larger boards, but if you only need what is already included in this case then there is a lot of dead space and I feel like they could have used a smaller case.
Included with the desktop is a keyboard and mouse which of course feature RGB, they are perfectly adequate and if you don't already have a keyboard and mouse it is nice that they include them, but I would recommend upgrading them to something a bit better. The cable management on this desktop is what I would call a step above and you can tell that Acer put some care and effort into ensuring that their product was well put together. One of the great features that I am extremely happy was included is that it has Wi-Fi built in with no external antenna sticking out of the back of the motherboard. I am extremely happy with this product and I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a desktop gaming computer.

The Ninja Thirsti Drink System is a really cool product that lets you make your own drinks with or without carbonation. With up to 2 different flavor combinations and 4 levels of carbonation Ninja boasts up to "1000's of different combinations". Even with the 8 included flavors, you can make some really interesting flavor combinations and they seem to last for quite a long time.
Set up is fairly simple with easy to follow instructions and illustrations to help get you going within minutes. This system also comes with 8 different flavors and one Co2 canister so that you can try out some flavors with many more options available through their site and other online realtors. The Co2 canisters are refillable which helps prevent unnecessary waste and helps save some money. Unfortunately, the flavored drops appear not to be refillable which means you have to order them through Ninja or one of their resellers with no option of refilling them with your own flavors. I would like to see this system take off which would bring about 3rd party sellers with either generic flavor options or refillable options which would be great for everyone.
The only real issue I have with this system is how much it drips, the flavors drip if you leave them in even well after you have finished making a drink, the water can drip if you shake it even a little bit, and after you make a drink after the chime goes off signaling it is ready there is still a bit of dripping from the drink nozzle. This means that you will be cleaning the drip drain fairly frequently after using this, and I would not recommend leaving the flavors in since they will continue to drip slowly overnight. These "issues" are more annoyances than anything serious, and I wouldn't let them stop you from thinking about getting this, it's just something to keep in mind when you do buy this.
I think this is a great system, and even now, with the only option being to buy refills from Ninja, I would highly recommend this to anyone who may be interested.

Seriously well built mechanical keyboard!

The Logitech PRO X TKL wireless mechanical keyboard is a well built, ready to use out of the box, customizable ten-keyless mechanical keyboard. The PRO series keyboards allow you to switch out key caps and switches either with Logitechs own products, or with compatible caps/switches of your choice. With on board lighting control you can take your keyboard wherever you like and keep your keyboard lit up how you like.
Some other useful features include:

- Excellent battery life.
- Slot under keyboard for Lightspeed receiver keeps you from accidentally losing the receiver.
- Can be used with Lightspeed adapter, bluetooth, or wired with either the included cable or your own USB-C cable. This allows you to use your custom cables to either charge or use this keyboard in a wired configuration.

Overall, I'm seriously impressed with this keyboard from Logitech, the build quality is outstanding with no flex at all on the keyboard and the keys are super tactile with a very satisfying click. I like the additional media controls and lighting effects and the look of the keyboard is very nice and even with no lights it looks amazing. I like the fact that the keys are lit from the back and when not lit all keys look like they are in stealth mode with no visible letters in most lighting. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mechanical keyboard that comes ready to use out of the box, but also has plenty of customization options.

Excellent wireless earbuds, but not true HiFI.

The Panasonic Technics - Premium HiFi True Wireless Earbuds are an excellent pair of earbuds, if you ignore the HiFi claim you will not be disappointed with these earbuds at all. These are fully wireless, allowing you to use both or just one earbud and have full functionality, they are not wired and they do not require a main earbud to be in to work properly. Controls are on both earbuds with touch controls allowing you to turn the volume up/down, fast forward or reverse, and to skip forward or back. My only complaint with the touch controls is that they are a bit finnicky and extremely sensitive allowing accidental touches to pause whatever you are listening to.
I have seen some reviews talking about how these aren't truly HiFi, which I think was a mistake of Panasonic including this buzzword, these are Bluetooth headphones and are therefore limited in quality by that connection method, they sound really great, but if you are into "HiFi" then no of course these will not meet your standard for quality. But, I think for most people these are amazing earbuds and I think Panasonic did themselves a disservice by adding in the HiFi nomenclature and they would have been fine keeping that buzzword out and people wouldn't have anything to complain about with these because they really are amazing earbuds.

Great alarm system with some minor app annoyances.

The SimpliSafe Whole Home Security Kit is a great package for starting your home security journey. This 17 piece kit gets you going in a big way, with several door/window sensors and indoor/outdoor cameras as well as the base, this kit is more than enough to get started for a small home or apartment. Setup is easy to do and the app makes adding and removing devices super simple allowing you to expand or shrink your security system as your needs grow.
I would like to see more options in the app, one of the issues that I had was not being able to adjust the sensitivity on the cameras which caused me to get lots of recordings with nothing more than trees blowing in my yard. I think the app could also use a better scrubbing feature making it easier to scrub through your videos to find specific events.
SimpliSafe also offers an alarm response subscription feature, but, it does not allow you activate or deactivate this subscription from within the application. I think this is a great feature, but making people call in to activate or deactivate this feature makes it a bit of a hassle and I would like to see them add this feature into their app allowing you to easily add or remove it as needed/wanted.

What is the current standard for secured WI-FI?
I am interested in putting together a wireless network. I understand that WPA, WEP, WEP2, and TKIP have been compromised. What is the current standard for secured WI-FI?
WPA and WPA2 are still the most used security standards used and as long as you are not using a weak short password and instead use a longer more secure password (letters, numbers, and symbols), it is still a very secure standard. However, on routers that have WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) enabled, it can be used as a backdoor into your network through brute force. On most routers this is easily disabled, and in my opinion unnecessary on your own home network, but on other routers it is unable to be disabled leaving a way for your network to be hacked into. As with all security it is impossible to create a system that will not at some point be circumvented with enough time and patience, however for networking security standards WPA is still the best and safest option due to the enormous amount of time and effort involved with actually hacking into it if a good password is used.
As a note if you have any devices using WEP replace them as soon as possible since it is a matter of minutes to hack into devices using that method of security.
