This was one of the things that we found out my car needed to do complete the upgrade to my audio/video stuff for my car. It's pretty simple in that this has to be used based on the battery and connector cables my car has. I did my research on dash cams, and the general consensus was that hard wiring them vs using the battery OR the power cable was the best way to go because it allows the dash cam to automatically power on if you use a dash cam that has the auto turn-on mode for tings that happen while your car is parked, automatically turns the dash cam on and/off when you turn the car on and off, save you from having to have excess wires exposed, and saves you from having to constantly plug/unplug it. This hard wire kit is specific to the Rexing V1 dash cam w/ rear camera I purchased, and it's priced comparably to other companies' hard wire kits. It gets the job done for a pretty low price. Fun to watch and great protection

I never would have thought to purchase a dash cam, but I needed to find something useful to use up a bunch of Best Buy rewards points I had earned after upgrading the audio/video equipment in my car. It made sense to use the points on the dash cam, installation, and protection because the dash cam would only add to other upgrades I had already done. I now realize that the dash cam should have been something I was considering as part of the original upgrade. I did my research and determined I wanted to get a dash cam that included a rear camera as well. The Rexing V1 with rear camera had all the options I was looking for in a good price range. I had it installed by Geek Squad and also got the hard-wire kit The original installation was done using the included adhesive pads. As nearly every other reviewer stated, those things WILL lose their grip due to the amount of heat that's generated in most cars from them sitting in the sun. The rear view camera adhesive pad failed first (a few days after install). The front camera adhesive pad failed after about a week. Thankfully I had already ordered a mirror mount that's going to be installed by Geek Squad once it gets in. They're also going to screw the rear camera into the a solid part of the car interior to ensure it stays in place. The setup was really simple, and the menu options are pretty simple to understand. I was off recording audio and video after loading and formatting a 128gb micro sd card. I'm waiting on a 64gb high endurance micro sd card I ordered as a lot of reviews I read suggest using the high endurance micro sd cards for dash cams to be able to handle the constant writing and rewriting. So far I'm satisfied with the quality of the video and audio of both the front and rear cameras. The video quality on both is good enough to get an accurate visual record of what's going on around you. I don't know that I can necessarily read license plates of cars passing by, but I can see enough to be able to have a visual record of relevant information such as the make/model/color of the cars around me, street signs, and other things. The audio is a pretty cool feature because now my videos have a soundtrack to them based on whatever I'm listening to in the sound system. It's also really good at recording the audio of conversations in the car. The benefits I've noticed so far is that I can now go back and watch/save videos of various "endeavors" I may partake in while driving. Not that I've gotten into any races with other cars or anything. As far as protection benefits, it's nice to know that God forbid if I'm involved in any accidents or anything then I know I'll have video/audio evidence of what happened. I was the victim of a hit-and-run in my vehicle last year, and having a dash cam would have made the process so much simpler than the other methods I had to take to address the matter. Another protection benefit I've seen already is that I had video footage of how the dealership treated my car during an oil change this week. Thankfully there was no crazy driving or anything (he did keep turning up the sound system, but that's what it's there for so I'm not tripping), but I did get video/audio of the manager chewing out the tech for having a bad attitude. This all made sense once I got my car back and realized the tech hadn't done several of the things that were supposed to be included in the oil change. Dash cams are a simple investment with a ton of benefits, and the Rexing V1 with rear camera is a good option with a ton of features at a good price. Hope this helps. Thanks. Matthew 7:12

You have to have an amp installation kit to go with your subwoofer install. I was initially going to buy the standard kit that Best Buy sells, and then I found this Kicker kit as a package deal with the kicker amp and Geek Squad installation I was going to buy anyway. With the package deal and it being on sale AND combining all that with an extra offer Kicker had at the time, I ended up getting a better amp installation kit for waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy less than had I gone with the standard kit/purchased everything individually. I don't know how all this stuff works, but the Best Buy sales rep and Geek Squad installers made it very clear that the wires and stuff in this Kicker kit are topnotch and way better than the other standard kits that are sold out there. I purchased several speakers over the years. This is the second time I've purchased Alpines for a vehicle. These are the most powerful Alpine components I've ever purchased, and it's also the first time I've put two sets of Alpine components in one vehicle. I've got each set paired with its own Alpine "power pack" amp, and for the price of the speakers and the individual amps, everything sounds great. I still need to play around with my equalizer and other sound settings to get things sounding exactly how I want it, but I'm more than satisfied thus far and trust that things will sound even better once I get everything set to where I want it. I had Geek Squad install a single din Pioneer 7" flip-out head unit, two Alpine amps to pair with two sets of Alpine component speakers, a backup camera, subwoofer, subwoofer amp, a custom subwoofer box (purchased elsewhere) that had to be trimmed down to fit better in my car, multiple additional audio/visual cables, and an easy-bake oven (ok, that's a stretch) in my car. I'm glad I paid to have Geek Squad install it all. For the low price (you can also watch for sales and package deals they offer for purchasing certain products) and convenience of getting everything done by a team working together and doing it all at once, it's so for it. The two Geek Squad techs took their time to get everything wired, fitted, customized, and tested very well. I've used a variety of subwoofers and boxes over the years in a variety of vehicles. I've always gone with 10" pairs and have had a variety of ported/sealed boxes. I decided for my current vehicle to take a chance with one 12" sub in custom box that fits in the storage space in my car's hatch area. I'm so glad I did. This 12" hits hard, deep, and clear. The reality is that there are tons of options you can go with, and I think it's unrealistic to "compare" any sub to any other sub because at the end of the day you're only going to experience the one you actually have installed. Can I say this is the greatest sub ever? No, because I can't realistically compare it to anything else because I haven't installed anything else. I can say that this sounds wonderful in my current setup. The only thing I don't like about this Kicker sub is that it doesn't come with any cover. I had to do my own research to find an option for a waffle grill that would fit it (size, proper clearance, ability to screw in to its current design). Kicker has a few grills that fit, but they're plastic and don't do a complete cover-up like the waffle grills do. I think some type of grill is a simple thing Kicker should be including with all their subs or at least be making as a option they sell (the waffle style and the partially covering style) on their websites. I purchased two of these to go with two sets of Alpine component speakers. The Geek Squad installer explained that I could get away with using just one of these but added that for the price and features that it would be even better to get one amp for each set of speakers to maximize the power each set gets. Glad I went with this. I've been a big fan of Alpine amps and their speakers. The Alpine amps always work consistently and never have any issues with clipping or overheating. It comes with a detachable usb cable that connects it to the computer (or other devices). The usb connection also powers the cd drive. The cd drive can open and close without being connected via the usb cable, but the cd drive can't power on\off or run any other functions without being connected via the usb cable to another device. will this AVHX7800BT fit in the dash of a 2004 jeep wrangler X. with air conditioning?
It's a single din, so it'll fit in any single din space. I've got mine installed in a 2002 Corvette. The video screen covers the center air vent (which is where the most air comes from in that vehicle), so I have to close the screen if I want to be able to feel the air while listening to the unit. Can you watch video content like YouTube and Netflix when you are parked?
Yes. There are settings that make sure video content can only be viewed while parked (i.e. parking brake is on). Technically there are ways around this that allow you to override the parking brake restriction, but you're on your own to get that done because Best Buy can't legally make this modification. I have the override switch on one vehicle of mine, and I can honestly say I've literally never used it. Realistically, no one should be viewing video content while driving. I had the override put in the one vehicle because I figured there might be a time where a passenger might want to watch video content while I was driving. Can I display the GPS from my android smart phone on this unit?
I think that requires "Mirrorlink" technology which this specific Pioneer model doesn't have. There are several Pioneer models that do have this technology, but I think they're all double-din models.
There is a technical way around this that I explored prior to purchasing and having this unit installed. It requires purchasing a few additional cables and having them connected to the back of the unit. These cables (connected to each other) then allow you to connect any video device to the cable and display whatever is on the screen to the screen of the unit.
Do a Youtube search for "How You MirrorLink Any Radio!!! Pioneer NEX and AVH Used" for the explanation.

Yes, yes, yes you can use it for WiFi without it being activated! I purchased the phone with the intention of using it as a "dedicated" mp3 player for my Bluetooth headphones and haven't activated any of the Trackphone stuff. The extra bonus is that yes I can use it for Wifi too!
