Gotta be honest, I was a little taken aback (pleasantly) when I first opened the big box that came containing the Sony - XB100 Compact Bluetooth Speaker. I've got other compact/desktop speakers and- even after seeing the pictures- assumed the Sony would be of similar size. Next time- I'll read the specs more closely!
The Sony - XB100 Compact Bluetooth Speaker is only a little larger in diameter than a soda can and not even as tall. That said, it provides sound that is equally as clear and room-filling with bass as deep as all but my sub-woofer-equipped (and much more expensive & larger) sound bar system.
With great sound and excellent price nailed, the Sony - XB100 then just keeps going with features:
- the strap allows it to stay secure wherever you need it
- its IP67 rated water and dustproof rating means I'm not overly concerned with taking it wherever I happen to be going
- up to 16 hour battery life means I don't need to worry too much about the music dying
- ...but if it does get low, the USB-C charging port means the same cables I have laying all over to charge everything else will always be handy!
- set up was about as simple as any connection I've ever made to my phone AND THE DEVICE CAN BE NAMED! (This a new must have feature for me; in a world where we're always surrounded by Bluetooth connections from others, having the ability to distinguish my devices with a specific name is clutch!)

Like so many questions in life, the answer to, “Do I need a Chromebook?” is “It Depends”.
The [insert name] is a lightweight, very efficient, affordable machine that likely fits all/almost all the needs that A LOT of folks need from their “computer”.
Context: I’m a lifelong PC user and, like many, have used one form of Windows-based laptop for the last couple decades of my work & personal life.
What I like about the Chromebook:
The fast start-up: it’s significantly faster than my older windows-based machines- just open the lid & go. My newer laptops are also pretty quick if opening from Sleep Mode, but do take longer if just starting up
Chrome-based OS: I’ve been a Google/Gmail user for years, so the interface feels pretty familiar already & I’ve already got the ready-made account(s) to use
Browsing: there is no/zero/zilch difference that I can discern between browsing on the [insert name] and any other computer
Ergonomics: the 14” screen on the [insert name] and similarly-scaled keyboard is pretty much the same as my work laptop, so it “feels” pretty much the same
Cost: The cost point of most Chromebooks means they may very well be a much better option for taking on vacation, throwing in a bag for a jaunt around town, etc. – times when risking the costlier laptop may not be something you’re willing to do

My job/experience has made me heavily MSOffice dependent. There are online versions of most MSOffice products. I’ve tried them and they work fine. I’m just a little too old school, though, for saving and working on all my documents in the cloud. I like local files. The limited storage on most Chromebooks might even be enough for most of my needs, but there are some specific apps that I’m just used to using that require local storage and/or old school loading of programs
All in all, the [insert name] performed flawlessly, efficiently & comfortably at everything I asked it to do. For someone who knew they wanted a Chromebook, I’d recommend 100%!

I have the 2021 version of this monitor and this new one has one key upgrade that makes it just about the perfect Work-From-Home (WFH) monitor! That upgrade is the ability to adjust the monitor's height. With this change, I can now (without stacking books) adjust my monitor very easily to achieve ergonomic perfection!
As for the monitor itself: the set up was super simple with all the cables and connections right in the box, the color & features are just fine out of the box, but it does allow plenty of adjustability for those that wish to mess with brightness, coloring, etc.. The very small "frame" around the edge of the monitor means that almost all of the surface of the screen is actually used, making it a lot easier on my eyes and MUCH BETTER than ever having to use my laptop's tiny monitor.
A few months ago, I may have indicated that a built-in webcam and speaker would have made this monitor perfect, BUT... I actually have another monitor with a built-in camera and the webcam no longer works (stopped right after warranty period, of course). As such, I'[m not sure anymore that I want a monitor to do much more than just be a great monitor- and the HP M24h FHD Monitor 23.8in fits that bill!!

Easy set-up sound bar with powerful sub-woofer

Right out of the box, the Samsung - HW-Q60B 3.1ch Soundbar seemed like a clear winner: solid-feeling construction, low-profile for placement directly below a larger TV or unobtrusively on a shelf, and my personal favorite- all-metal exterior components. All previous soundbars I've used had a fabric/soft material covering the speakers. As a pet owner, the omnipresent fur would often get caught/tied/intertwined in this material (how this happens is some sort of science mystery- similar to how nicely wound extension cords and headphones end up in knots no matter what you do!). Anyway, the all-metal exterior is super-easy to clean and has the much-appreciated bonus of just feeling as fragile as the other soundbars I've used.
Set up was incredibly easy! Granted, I was replacing an existing soundbar, so it was easy as disconnect old, plug in and connect new- sound! That said, the directions were clear on how to change the TV audio settings and the pairing of the sub-woofer took less than 60 seconds following the very clear directions.
The sub-woofer- WOW! I've not had a separate sub-woofer before- just the built-in, must be pretty small ones that mot modern soundbars claim to have in some fashion. The sub-woofer on the Samsung - HW-Q60B 3.1ch Soundbar will create vibrations I can feel across the room on its base setting! If I turn it to any of the "+" (above base level) settings, it creates enough bass that I fear my neighbors may complain. I've not tested what happens if I connect to the soundbar with music via bluetooth, but I'm pretty certain I could get some house party-worthy thumping to occur!
Overall, very pleased with the Samsung - HW-Q60B 3.1ch Soundbar !

Steamer- maybe, little all-around oven- maybe not

I'd been waiting to review one of these ever since using a couple different models over time. I don't often cook large meals, so the small, efficient, quick-heating/cooking package of the compact oven is what I was looking for.
In practice, though...
- the pre-heat function seems to take a while
- setting the temperature and the time happen at two different times and require a separate set of button-pushing. The first meal I tried to make (baked spaghetti) took 2 tries because the first attempt never really started when I didn't set the timer & hit "Start" again after pre-heating. It's not a mistake that will happen again, and I'm not opposed to instruction manuals, but out-of-the-box intuitive controls is sorta one of those things we all expect nowadays.
- compared to my much smaller air fryer (which I'd hoped to get rid of with this), it took longer and produced less crispy results in the Panasonic

The oven seems well built and I'm not giving up on it, but it hasn't lived up to what I expected from my previous countertop oven experiences.

I don't honestly have any great need for an indoor security camera right now. That said, the opportunity to test this out as a "game cam" for my cats came up & I thought it sounded like a great idea!
Right out of the box, the set up was very fast & simple. Download the app, set up an account, plug in the camera/base & I was off. During the day, the motion sensors and recordings were just what one would expect. In the app you can change the length of recordings, the sensitivity to motion, the time between recordings and- the feature that I thought was most useful, the portion of the field of view in which to look for motion! As a pet owner, I've already said that I wanted to test out on the cats, but if I actually wanted a security camera, I tested & know that I could control the motion sensor such that it would ignore the cats meandering around all day and only focus on the main door & only at a height that indicates a person was coming in.
I couldn't get the night vision settings to work as well with the motion detection (thus 4 vs 5 stars), but that, honestly may simply be not testing enough tweaks to the settings.
Final outcome- really enjoyed the camera & will use it- especially when I travel. Also, turns out the cats are as fat & lazy when I'm not around as when I am right here... who knew?!?

The Whoop 4.0 Health & Fitness tracker is a really interesting concept & tool. A 24/7 tracker to track both your exercise & physical output as well as your body's ability to recover and heal.
Context: I'm a relatively fit runner & cyclist, staying active with training pretty much year round for various events that include marathons, ultramarathons, charity bike rides, etc.. More aging, top Age Group finisher than winner of most events. I've got multiple GPS, fitness, sleep tracking devices that cover my daily needs.
The promise of the Whoop 4.0 was to let me see even deeper into how my training & recovery are (or aren't) working together to help me achieve my goals.
From the start, the fit and finish of the device is solid. The band is comfortable for everyday 24/7 wear. I always wear a watch, so the Whoop is on my other wrist constantly and after a couple days, I barely realize it's there. The device stays charged for 4-5+ days and the novel charging system allows it to be charged while on your arm; I usually charge it when needed during the day as I sit and work. My only thought on the wearing of the device is that the band is a fabricy, synthetic mix. It does get wet and feels weird, damp sometimes. If I've just worked out and shower, I'll leave it on to make sure it gets cleaned as well, otherwise I will take it off for showering so it stays dry.
When you first start wearing the band, it takes a few days to "calibrate". I really like the way Whoop set up the "Levels" for users to encourage and incentivize continuous wear. Most of the levels are based on the number of "Recoveries" that a user has logged. A "Recovery" is a night's sleep. There are levels at 1,4,7,14,21,30,40,50,65, and so on. Given that more data means more ability to dial in what your "normal" looks like, the effort to be consistent in wearing the device seems key.
Once wearing the device, the claim is that the device will auto-recognize activities in order to calculate your "Daily Strain" score. I have found that the Whoop will correctly identify high-intensity activities- e.g. running, HIIT session. Lower intensity activities require informing Whoop after the fact that you did something; this has included more casual bike rides, weightlifting, etc. The app & interface are super easy & make this simple, but the literature seemed to indicate that this wouldn't be required.
On the app, the interface is really good. When I wake up in the morning, there's a brief survey about how my night went, what activities I may have engaged in that impacted my "Recovery". The survey is personalized early in set-up- mine asks me about the impact of eating too late, how time I spent outside, how annoying the cat may have been, etc.. There are also post-workout/activity surveys regarding how you felt, whether you were able to finish what you intended, etc.
As you continue to wear the device, the tool produces weekly & monthly reports that provide summaries of consistency, progress and ideas for improvement. I just got my first monthly report this morning and it was interesting. It points out that my bedtimes are all over the map as is the effectiveness of my sleep. I've known all along that the Whoop would tell me that my sleeping sucks; I was right, and now have some ideas on how to improve.
I actually still feel that I'm early in the learning curve on how the Whoop may help me. I'm not overwhelmed in these early days with its usefulness, but super intrigued & ready for more. If I can, I'll provide an update.

- the Shark Wandvac Self-Empty System is great. It will empty the on-board dirt cup every time you reattach to the base (or not if you choose the mute option). This system not only makes for a dust free emptying of the vacuum head every time, but also seems to "compact" the collected dirt, dust, hair, etc. in the collection bin, so that even that seems less messy than with other stick vac systems
- the Shark Wandvac head is by far the smallest & easiest handheld vac of any I've used & is designed to be used as a handheld vac without having to use any additional attachments. You can use attachments is you want, but it's angled and set up in such a way that no attachment is needed- a super easy plus!
- I seem to vacuum up at least a cat's worth of fur every day & the Shark Wandvac Self-Empty System, Bagless Cordless 3-in-1 Cordless Stick Vacuum has so far proven to be up to the task!
- the fins on the Shark Wandvac's powered head are MUCH better at picking up messes on hard flooring- in my case cat litter and/or paper shreds from tiles. The fins seem much better at directing this loose material into the vacuum (vs. out from under the vacuum which often happens when using more brush-like heads)

Great so far! Enjoying fast charge when I need it

We all struggle with having enough cords & chargers for our technology. We all also know that it can be very difficult to find the balance between ridiculously priced Apple-branded accessories and the cheapo accessories that have likely enticed (& disappointed) us all at least once.
Insignia™ - 20W USB-C Fast Charger Kit for iPhone seems to be that perfect balance thus far! It comes with both a compact 20W charger AND a substantial-feeling 6 FOOT USB-C charging cable with a nice velcro tie... all for a reasonable price that's less than either of these two alone from Apple. This 20W charger is actually my first "fast charger", so I've been testing it & there's no doubt that it more quickly charges both my iPhone SE (2nd gen) and latest gen iPad 10". Note: I don't often need this function as I'm pretty disciplined about regularly charging so I've got my devices when I want them. That said, it's super convenient to now have the ability to get some quick juice when it's needed.
Overall, a great value for a solid product!

If you're like me, you've wondered for a while whether or not you needed an air fryer in your life. Well, now I know that- for me anyway- the answer is YES!! In just the first few days, I've used my Sensio MARSHMELLO 3QT Air Fryer to: bake a couple chicken breasts, air fry some perfect & crispy potato wedges and cook the most crispy tofu pieces I've ever created. I've already got my next couple meals ready to use it more in the next few days. And it does all of this in less time than baking in the oven and everything I've researched indicates that it's also using less energy to do so!
It takes up just a little counter space, the basket & accessories are super easy to clean (to include being dishwasher safe). The Sensio MARSHMELLO 3QT Air Fryer's electronic controls are simple to use and adjust as needed for whatever you're cooking. I'm generally cooking for 1 or 2, so the 3QT size is perfect for me, even factoring in that I like to have leftovers. That said, I suppose a larger family may need a little more space.

They do have a microphone and I've been pleased that using them has elicited many fewer questions about whether I'm standing in a well as I take phone calls :)
