While this delayed mob/buddy picture didn't make waves at the box office, New Line has gone out of their way to make a DVD that will surely reach a bigger audience. In a move to make everyone happy, this disc includes both a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer on one side, and a cut-up pan-and-scan version on the other. Occasionally the image is a little soft, but it's never a distraction. Detail comes across very nicely. Skin tones are perfectly realized, as well are the subdued colors and dense blacks. Sound, which includes both Dolby Digital and DTS tracks (though the DTS track is only on the widescreen side), is equally impressive. The bass is strong throughout the film, and while there could be more effective use of the surrounds, separation is still evident and used wisely. As with the DTS track, all of the supplements are on the widescreen side. Though hardly extensive, there is a decent array of extras. Director/writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien provide a scene-specific commentary that is generally informative, but very subdued. They relate their personal experiences which went in to the movie in a very quiet manner. In addition are four deleted scenes that wouldn't have added much to the story, with optional commentary from Koppelman and Levien. Finally, along with the trailer for this film, are some trailers for other New Line titles such as A Man Apart and Friday After Next.

These are truly knockaround guys
on March 4, 2008

These guys are truly knock around guys. The answer was so obvious to them at the beginning of their problem, but they just weren't man enough to pull it off. The result was a lengthy frantic chase for a solution that should have been applied in the first place. You find yourself laughing at these guys, but getting mad at them at the same time throughout the movie. It's a great ride to watch and I would definitely recommend.
What's great about it: Decent storyline, action, and comedy
What's not so great: none

Why has destiny brought these two individuals together? You'll also be able to use the Exceed System to charge Nero's sword with a throttle effect — charge the sword to up to three levels and unleash powerful attacks. Mind blowing action
on February 13, 2008

This is the best in the Devil May Cry series so far. The sound and graphics are absolutely amazing and the action is furiously entertaining. It's still a slasher of course, but the slashing in this installment is way better than any previous in the series. Although playing with Nero is way more fun than playing with Dante. I hate to say it, but it's true. This one is also some hot new female characters and story twists. If you're a DMC fan, you have to pick this one up.
What's great about it: Plenty of new style action and interesting characters
What's not so great: Playing with Dante isn't nearly as fun as playing with Nero

Great western

This is hands down one of the best westerns I've ever seen and definitely better than any western I've seen in recent years. This isn't your standard smart remark, cool tone, run and shoot western either. It's a well-rounded feature with a great storyline, great acting, great character development, and a decent amount of action that wasn't over the top. This one also has a bit a mystery where nothing should be taken at face value...wink wink. Would definitely recommend.
What's great about it: Great acting, storyline, and style. Not a standard run and shoot.
What's not so great: none

Very good, but not great

This one was definitely better than 3, but still not as good as 1 and 2. This one does provide more of the back story behind Jigsaw and provides a good amount of mystery as to who the next in line is, but just wasn't as exciting as the first two. The acting was just ok though and is what really stood out in this installment as none of those cops and FBI agents were believalbe at all. Still the new traps/puzzles, mystery, and suspense makes it a very good movie.
What's great about it: More gore and deadly puzzles
What's not so great: Still not as good as the first 2

A let down

I really thought this movie was going to turn out better than what it did and was sorely disappoint. I expected boat loads of laughs and instead got some very dry humor. It just simply wasn't funny and very one dimensions. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
What's great about it: Resolution and sound is great on the blu-ray
What's not so great: Very dry movie

Great movie all around
on February 12, 2008

This is a great movie for anyone. Not too much lubby dubby stuff, not too much action, but just the right amount of both with a bit of mystery, intrigue, and comedy mixed in. The 2 minute prediction angle was a great idea and doesn't over do it because of this. The acting is great all around especially on the sides of Nicholas and Jessica. As always Jessica is very easy on the eyes. The stroyline also holds strong throughout the movie. My only knock on this one is that the special effects look a bit "old school" in the sense the green screen was obivious in the shots. Other than that though, the movie is great. Would definitely recommend.
What's great about it: Lots of action very cool prediction concept
What's not so great: Special effects are a bit "old school"

Eh, it's ok but not worth the blu-ray
on January 16, 2008

This movie is ok, but is definitely not worth the price of a blu-ray disc. Instead, you'd come out better buying this on a regular DVD. I usually only reserve my blu-ray purchases for movies I generally know are going to be great and warrant the higher cost, but I was mistaken with this choice. It's just your basic comedy slash love story flick with a best friend giving the somewhat moral guy advice as he goes through the motions of trying to bag his one true love.....pretty standard. My wife loved the love story angle in this movie, but it's just not my thing. Would recommend if you just need a regular movie to watch and are into the love story deal, but wouldn't recommend getting it on blu-ray.
What's great about it: Nice unrated photage and some funny moments
What's not so great: Very average movie with no real climax

Great movie

I knew this movie was going to be good, but it actually turned out to be even better than I'd expected. This movie has a very good storyline that is delivered well by the characters and features a decent amount of action, but doesn't go overboard to kill the story. They even throw in a touch of comedy every now and then. Definitely should ad this one to your HD-DVD collection.
What's great about it: Good storyline, decent amount of action

Great action movie

This has to be the best RE movie in the pack. Really like the visual style that was used in the desert and the awesome sound/resolution on blu-ray is the icing on the cake. Loads of new action sequences in this one and more developement in the storyline that comes directly from the game series. Even if you're not in the game, this is still a great action movie for the action junkie.
What's great about it: Lots of action, great resolution, and massive sound
What's not so great: Milla could have had some more line

CAN'T GET PS3 TO WORK ON MY HUGHESNET INTERNET FOR GAMING

Unfortunately, the news won't be good for your situation. Hughesnet is a satellite ISP, which means that the signal has to travel all the way from earth to space and then back again. Because of this, there is a VERY noticeable lag time and you can't get "real-time online gaming". Basically, any game you try to play online on PS3, Xbox, or PC won't play correctly due to that lag time. If you're able to swich to a local ISP through DSL or cable high speed Internet, then you'll be good to go. Otherwise, with Hughesnet you're going to ge stuck with playing games offline. Sorry for the bad news.

Will Upconvert dvd player play blueray disk?

I have a visio 32 lcd hd 1080p tv and a upconvert dvd player. Will blue ray disk play on the player?
Unfortunately not. Upconvert DVD players can only upconvert regular DVDs to try and get close to HD quality resolution, but not 100%. For blu-ray discs playback, you'll need to buy a stand alone blu-ray player or Playstation 3. There's many stand alone blu-ray players for under $200 that play great nowa days. I recently purchased the Sony BDP-S360 blu-ray player on a really good sale and it plays both DVDs and blu-ray disc with no problems for well under $200.

should i get gh5 or lego rock band for my first game

I would definitely go with Guitar Hero 5 instead of Lego Rock Band. Even though Lego Rock Band isn't out yet, that whole line of Lego games just gets old fast. GH5 however is already out and has proven itself to be a very good game with high ratings all around. Don't forget that the Guitra Hero series also has a pretty good track record for fun downloadable content, which I can't say the same for those Lego games.
