It was good to see Michael Keaton again... the flick has that going for it. Just check your mind at the door and you should be good to go. Guess I'm getting a little tired of all the "uberrman" movies. I'd give it a 2.5-2.75.
This is an action driven movie with a weak script, so be ready to check your mind out on this one. The "character" Sam Jackson puts out is getting pretty tired and well worn thin. But if you like action, you should enjoy this one.
I enjoy this type of thriller so I enjoyed this movie. It was easy to see the writers thinking of Leonardo DiCaprio for the lead role and then recalling that old Hollywood joke about "get me a younger DiCapiro."
I thought this was going to be a thriller or survival story... It wasn't, it was a "love" story masquerading as a thrilling survival story. Very predictable back end to this story.
The best thing going for it was the cinematography in the mountains. I thought Kate "Whines a Lot" (Titanic nickname!), was pretty good, but Idris is pretty one note ion most of all his movie performances.
This just made it to three stars for me. The movie just didn't work that well for me. Maybe because I was expecting a more traditional approach rather the "summer blockbuster" version that was delivered.
I'll be curious if future viewings will change my opinion of this. I will say that it is a well put together flick and for that I didn't mind the purchase.
I thought Inferno wasn't the best work in this series... not sure how the book is, but the concept for me is getting a bit thin in the movie version(s). Production/direction/acting was good. Still worth a watch, and buying this disc is more affordable than taking the family into the theater.
Bit of a new spin on some familiar content. Acted/directed/produced well enough. Probably could have punched up the writing/concept a bit more. I was happy that the "life" wasn't the ubiquitous spider form #think squid/octopus here though, and they aren't too far off#. Still worth a watch.
I probably would give this flick 3.5 stars if I could. Not a bad movie, with good direction/acting/production, but it did seems like it was on familiar ground (i.e. The Purge & a bit of Saw).
I bought Run Lola Run on BluRay to replace my DVD version.
This is an interesting movie with some very clever direction. The story presents a situation - then jumps through three causality scenarios where the possible outcomes are changed by a different alignment in the chain of events. I also thought it was pretty smart that the director also lets you see some of the causality for people that Lola may encounter on the street (rapid flash forward with still photographs).
This is a lower budget German made film (English dub is on the soundtrack or use the native language and English subtitles for a better experience, especially on the 2nd viewing). This is a good flick to have in the library if you're a film collector.
