This new album came outta nowhere with zero expectations and has really impressed me. I'm not familiar enough with their entire output to say how it compares to past releases or that they have their own "UKJ sound", but this will certainly be in my Top 10 for 2015. Just good, catchy song writing, playing and excellent vocals.
The Motorhead cover, while enjoyable, seems slightly out of place on the album and somewhat unnecessary. They pretty much do a straight-up cover, not really changing anything. It's fun and the band is clearly enjoying themselves, but seeing how the album's other cover of 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' works much better in the context of the album, having this one seemed like overkill. A minor complaint though.
If you liked their last ep, or I guess any of their earlier works, I encourage you to give this new one a chance

It's another Motorhead album. You know what to expect from Lemmy & Company by now. You either like them or you don't. They are consistent in the quality of the music with subtle differences that make each album unique. To say they've been releasing the same album for over 30 years is bollocks to anyone that really knows the band. If Bad Magic turns out to be Lemmy's swan song, it's a darn fine album to go out on. They are Motorhead and they play rock n' roll!!

Album number 2 from the Night Flight Orchestra isn't quite as memorable as their debut. Yes, it's more of the same 80's AOR rock that made their debut so enjoyable, but this new album didn't grab me as immediately as that one did. It's grown on me slightly after repeated spins, so maybe its a good thing that it needs more attention instead of being a flash-in-the-pan. If you enjoyed the first album, I'm sure you will find something to like about this one. It just might take a little longer to find it.

Whitesnake's latest release is being met with some harsh criticism from long time Deep Purple fans who find it sacrilegious that Mr. Coverdale and his band would dare cover the very songs he wrote and performed over 30 years ago. I find these versions to be quite enjoyable myself and while they won't match the intensity or power of the originals, this album makes for a great introduction to younger fans who may not be familiar with Deep Purple's mid-period albums which these songs are culled from. Aside from a handful, I myself was not familiar with most of the songs covered here. So to me, it's like a whole new album of Whitesnake tunes and I'm just fine with that.
