The Missing Peace is yet another stellar album from LA Guns. They know their audience and don't stray too far from the winning formula they established back in the 80's. The biggest difference with this album is that Tracii Guns in back after a long absence. Not that old guitarist Stacey Blades was bad, but it just feels right having Tracii back writing and recording with Phil.

It's hard not to compare the 2 Gallagher brothers and their near-equal output since the demise of Oasis. Noel has 3 High Flying Birds albums, while brother Liam has 2 Beady Eye and now this solo album. I have them all and I have to give the nod to Liam. He's just a little more rock n' roll and less experimental with his music. If you liked Oasis, you'll dig this new one.

I had high hopes for a Christmas albums by one of my favorite rock bands but this album falls a little flat. It's not bad by any means, but it doesn't rock like I hoped it would. I really hoped they'd inject some life into some holiday standards, but it didn't really pan out.

Getting Better, Still Not a Classic

Hardwired...could be trimmed down to one great album. As it stands, there a few tracks that could be skipped, culling 2 albums worth of material down to one. I do enjoy it more than Death Magnetic overall and it's miles above that dumpster fire of an album that was St. Anger. One thing I really dislike on the album is 'Murder One', their supposed tribute to Lemmy. It's painfully obvious that the music was written for something else, then at the last minute, they decided to shoe-horn some Motohead lyrics in there and call it a day. Where is the rumbling bass line? Where is the speed? For a man and band that had so much influence on the band, this tribute song shows NONE of that.
The 3rd live album is unessential. I've listened to it once or twice since I had it and feel no real reason to revisit it anytime soon.

No Sophomore Slump Here!!

Black Trip's second album avoids the sophomore slump and actually improves upon their first release. They've expanded on their sound of Thin Lizzy's twin guitars fronted by a sound reminiscent of Iron Maiden's former front man Paul Di'Anno. The songs are well written and full of hooks. One spin and the melodies will be stuck in your head for the remainder of the day. If you enjoyed their first album, Goin' Under, you're sure to enjoy this one. If you HAVEN'T heard their first album, get that one too. Do it, do it now!!
