This is what I would consider a good basic router for today's home network environment. Most people have a half dozen items connected. The range and through put is good.

I often don't purchase top of the line product because of all the false hype. This unit is exceptional and is a great addition to make a good home network. With all of the items that are wireless now for the home, it requires a level of router used in small businesses a few years ago. I have 25+ items on at any given time. Thermostat, light switches, stream speakers, garage door opener, security DVR, Femtocell, along with laptops, smart TVs, bluray disk players, and PC's. No longer do I need to reboot the unit every day. If I do need to there is an app for that.

is it compatible with Windows 10 and the microsoft Edge browser ?
Yes but Edge might not be compatible "yet" with current web sites... suggestion to download Chrome and make your default browser IE 11... and use Edge when you feel lucky.
Ninite.com has an application listed: Classic Start .... this will make your machine look like normal ... Windows 7 ... etc.

Can I use this for Comcast as it requires DOCSIS 300 compatible?
The picture above is a router not a modem. Netgear makes a wonderful 3.0 compatible combination Modem/Router ... at a very reasonable price, I think in the N600 range for about $130. If you already have 3.0 Modem, YES this will work... The netgear 300 is at the bottom end of their line.

My internet service is 100 mbps (down) but pages load VERY slowly. Is Netgear Wireless N 300 router slowing it down? If so, what model can handle it
If you are paying for premium service, why are you using a "basic" router. It's a $30 ... . not 10 years ago 1 meg business customers were putting in $2,000 Cisco or Sonic Wall routers... step up at least to the R6620 AC1200 router $100 ... it will connect at 1 gig (potential), most cheap equipment will not get that much... but all at least 100 Meg....

Is this unit compatible with pppoe on linux 14.4
Not even a factor... .your would put the PPPoe (DSL user name and password) information in the router to make the connection than set Linux to obtain IP automatically from the router ...

I have Comcast n the modem I have requires us to connect the phone line, can I connect a phone line on this
I would think on ComCast you would have a "modem" that would be an MTA ... that would deal with your phone line issue... this is a router... put behind your "modem" ... so I would make sure your modem has the MTA option ... then use this item as it was intended.

Port Foward
I have a Linksys wrt54gs port forward to my cams in my home can this Linksys ac 1900 have port forward as well ?
Once logged into the unit click on the security tab, then Apps and Gaming, and there are sections for single port forwarding and port range forwarding. Very similar to what you did on the WRT54.

what kind of motherboard is in it
I am assuming an Asus. Laptop parts are pretty much proprietary, except for memory, screens, CD/DVD, hard drives, Wifi & Bluetooth antenna. Not sure if that helps.
