I remember seeing this year's ago at the drive in and I was young. It wasn't a gory film more suspenseful in its camera work and effects. A great but easily overlooked classic by John Carpenter.
Like me if you were a huge fan of the original you probably had a hard time wanting to give this remake a chance. I bought the bluray upon release and gave it a look but went into it with low expectations. Overall I'd say this film tried to be something on its on in comparison to the original film while still respecting it. The CGI in 4k on my Samsung was incredible. It really turned out to be a good film but as a fan of the original film I'm still not sure if this remake and the direction it took to stand alone was necessary.
Ok, so as a sci-fi fan I lean towards the star wars camp as opposed to star trek. However that isn't to say I don't enjoy watching star trek. As the movies are concerned this has to be the absolute best of the series and I think it's because of two reasons. First it has a connection to the television series because of the character portrayed by Ricardo M. Secondly it was so much more action packed that anything seen of star trek at that time.
If you don't currently own a copy of this disc in bluray format then it's a great investment for the price. If you do then you may want to pass as there really isn't much else new here to see even the directors cut doesn't really change much of what's already been viewed.
OK let me start out by writing I was a huge fan of marvel growing up. In fact I'd say I owned one DC comic to every 100 Marvel,I'm not as familiar with DC back stories as I would be Marvel so I'm not sure how true to the material the movies are.
Upon box office release of this movie there were many Internet forums hating the material and the director Snyder.Critic response was also across the board. In fact a lot of Internet entertainment articles were quickly saying the Warner Bros. DC uinverse was in trouble before it began and of course the mighty comparison to Disney and Marvel's better box office appeal with its own films.
So where does my review stand? First off I was incredibly surprised by the film. It was so much better than I expected. Despite the Internet attempts to assassinate this films credibility anyone with a taste for superhero genres can see its a set up film for what's to come next and it does a great job. This also has to be by far the DC superman film fans have been wanting.
Also Ben Affleck does a fine job as Bruce Wayne. I'd say the verdict may still be out as to if he's up for being a great batman but he's certainly better than most. Michael Keaton still is my personal favorite.
I did purchase the 3d bluray and the film did great in that format I wouldn't say it blew me away but still a good investment.

By now everyone has seen this movie so my review is about the 3D version. I loved this investment, the 3D effects were fantastic and so much better than the imax 3D version of Finding Dory.
By far not Quentin's best film. Very familiar territory but felt rushed as a production. A load of talent that felt wasted and very little connection between the actor's performances but not a total loss.
