Watchable in 3D but limited rewatch

Ok, so here's another movie I passed on for a long time, but eventually broke down and got the 3D version of. As others have mentioned it is a dark movie in general so 3D effect was somewhat limited as a result. The story was decent enough for one viewing but I can't see myself going back to it unless someone requests it specifically.

I wanted to like it more than I did. Even with the disappointment I decided to give the 3D experience a chance. 3D did add, and I found no "too dark picture" issue on my setup. A worthwhile purchase at a discount price but not worth full price.

Finally saw this one in 3D and was concerned if it'd be a dud since I'm not a huge Sandler fan. 80s nostalgia and 3D made it enjoyable enough to say I'm glad I got it. It'seems a popcorn movie for sure so don't expect more than that.

More of the same fun as the first

Overall this was a worthy sequel to the first which I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed so much. Add to it the 3D aspect and it was a nice purchase that will get plenty of repeat viewings.
It is more for kids but there are still things for the adults so it shouldn't be tough to sit through.

What's great about it: Funny characters, nice progression of story
What's not so great: a little on the "play it safe" side but understandable as sequels do this 99% of the time.

I enjoyed the movie but just wish the marketers had laid off endlessly plugging the Oscar nominations. Think of it as a small fun indie film and you'll enjoy it.

Overall this was a great sleeper hit for me. A few instances where the plot wavered but solid overall. Don't go in expecting a masterpiece and I think most will enjoy this spin on history.
