I was not in love with the idea of a remake, then warmed to it as time went on. However, finally seeing this at home in 3D, the comedic payoff just wasn't there like I hoped. I loved Bridesmaids (big Wiig and McCarthy fan) but this is two levels below that. It does have some funny moments but not nearly on the same level as the original GB. It is better to me than GB2 though, that one was a real stinker!
If you want to see Chris Hemsworth play humor, you have to see him in Vacation (yet another remake that didn't live up to the original). He makes that film worth seeing just for his part but isn't used quite as well in this one.
3D is good so I'll be watching this again for that aspect, but this is a 2-3 watches/lifetime rather than the 20-25 I'd plan for the original (Nice doggie, nice doggie... Ol' Zuulie you nut... What did you do Ray? No, it can't be! ...It's the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. :D )
Last comment:: Thank you to the studio marketing and sales department that decided to do 4k/3D combo. I love 3D and want to embrace 4K but won't if it is a choice between the two. Building a customer base means not fracturing the marketplace (I also want Atmos/DTSX sound on both formats!)

Pan was pretty much a flop in theaters, I believe. However, I enjoyed the story and the sets - especially in 3D. I do wish there was more tie-in to the Peter Pan everyone already knows (this is a prequel). In this respect it almost felt as Prometheus did to Alien - but far more successfully done than that one was, to me.

I actually enjoyed this more than the hunger games movies. Maybe those ones were just too hyped up but for whatever reason this series is more palatable. I'm hearing not so good things about the 3rd (Allegiant) so I hope it doesn't fall apart for me when that one comes to blu-ray.

I'm not a huge fan of classic movies but this one is somewhat special for the fact it was shot in 3D. Get it for that reason if you have a 3D TV and enjoy the uniqueness it offers.

It's not bad, and the kiddies will enjoy it. For me, it was a bit too derivative (cash-in syndrome) so I wasn't overwhelmed. I got it at a good price and for the 3D so overall it was a decent buy.

I am not an outright fan of Leonardo DiCaprio, but he does well here, and I even bought his accent. I've liked Djimon since Gladiator and he's perfect for his part. It's got good suspense and isn't entirely predictable, which is better than 90% of movies these days. A strong effort overall.

This is maximum 3D effects for in your face objects, and over the top acting by all involved (as intended), especially the indomitable Nicolas Cage. It does a little better job staying away from low grade acting (rather than just campy) that some other similar ones like My Bloody Valentine strayed into.

An 80's classic crime thriller, with humor to boot

This movie was a sleeper hit when I first saw it 30 years ago and remains true to that today. While a simple plot and meandering from love story to mild humor to crime drama, I found this movie a perfect mix of all and engaging throughout.

I have the first 3D one and while that one exceeded expectations, this one did not. It is similar in style so you may still like it. And it has the Hoff for any Germans out there ;) Also, watch out for receiving the regular version instead of 3D.
