I love Pioneer Elite receivers. They have the Class D digital D3 amps which are very powerful, sounds great and very efficient plus the fact that they can drive 4-ohm speakers with ease unlike many Class AB amps which most manufacturers use. The SC-97 sounds even better than my older SC-67 with better soundstage than the older one, especially with the new MCACC Pro.
Pioneer AVRs have a clean uncluttered look which looks luxurious with their amber displays. Pioneer's MCACC calibration works fine, just as good as Audyssey.
The only downside is that Pioneer has terrible remote controls with puny buttons and hard to read print. Since I normally use Logitech Harmony remotes, this is a non-issue.
I was so impressed with the SC-97, I bought another one for another room. More so since Pioneer was bought out by Onkyo. This generation models are the last designed entirely under Pioneer. Onkyo is known for shoddy reliability recently and I was concerned about their future models.

BBC has been releasing an updated modern version of Sherlock Holmes with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. This episode goes back to the late 19th century and is more like the regular perios Holmes movies. It is not as good as the modern releases but still a satisfying release.

Most active 3D glasses are very expensive or poorly built. The glasses that comes with the current Samsung TVs are pretty flimsy. The battery cover will not stay in place, causing the battery to pop out all the time.
This glasses is more comfortable and rechargeable. It is universal and will work with most TVs. Note that it is NOT compatible with JVC projectors which have a different polarity.

A pretty good UPS for its price

I needed a cheap but effective UPS to maintain my NAS. This UPS connects to the NAS through a USB cable. If the power goes out, the UPS will notify the NAS and the NAS will do a automatic shutdown after 10 minutes. The time can be set by the user.
Note that this UPS is too small to maintain power to a PC. The NAS only draws 10-100 watts depending on its state. The UPS has way more power than needed for this.
The only thing is that I wish the UPS supported pure sine wave power but won't find it for this price...

I bought this because I needed a bigger screen for my laptop when I am at home. It fit the bill perfectly. It's not too big and not too small. It accepts HDMI (but not sure if it is HDMI 2.0/HDCP compatible to use with a BR player.
The colors are vivid and the screen is quite bright. Since it is an IPS screen, the image retains picture quality when viewed off axis. The cost of this is that the contrast is hampered when in a dark room, the blacks turn to a muddy gray. if you have external lighting on, this issue fades away.

The Sandisk Ultra II SSd is a great drive. It uses TLC memory which is longer lasting than MLC type of RAM. It is easy to install.
I backed u my boot drive using Paragon (free drive imaging program) to an external HDD. I installed the SSD as the boot drive and restored the image to the SSD from the external drive.

The PS3 does not recognize external HDD. You will have to buy a larger internal HDD...

Personal Home Cloud Network setup
I am looking at setting up a home network using either a WD or Seagate My Cloud hard drive. The concern I have is we use multiple systems in the house (PCs, MacBook, IPad, Galaxy, ....) and I want to be able to access the home network using any and all of these systems. When I read through the setup instructions for the WD and Seagate, they are either for the PC or Mac; there's not much guidance on across platform setup. Am I able to setup the network so I have access to it using any of my systems? if so how do I go about doing this?
It does not matter what OS you use as the Cloud drive will appear as a network drive. If the device can detect the network, it should detect the cloud drive.
The only thing is how the devices have the ability to back up to the cloud drive. They all can back up but it may have to be done manually...

Newer motherboards do not have IDE/PATA connectors. You will have to buy a new HDD as the ribbon cable is a parallel cable and the newer ones are serial type and are not compatible...

SATA drives are getting cheap... You could pick up a 250GB SATA drive for about $80 or so. You have to check if your computer has an internal SATA connector. IF not, you will need to buy a PCI SATA card.

You have to check if your eMachine desktop uses an IDE/PATA or a SATA HDD... I think the eMachines used IDE/PATA connectors. If so, you will have a hard time finding a replacement as they have been more or less phased out by SATA drives. I would look into a WD 250GB HDD. Again, you will have to get more information as really older computers may not recognize drives of large capacity...

You can put in any desktop HDD with no issue. You just have to make sure if the interface is SATA or IDE.

Will this work with older laptops such as ones with the Centrino Duo processor?
Not likely. I believe laptops back then used IDE interfaces and the SSD uses a SATA interface...
