I have the 64GB one and it does work, However, you have to use the default FAT32 format, which limits file size, unlike NTFS.

Does the Samsung Smartwatch monitor sleep activity?
Yes, the Gear 2 does. However it does not start automatically. You have to start it and them stop it when you wake up.

This watch is not a phone, it connects to your phone. I think you are thinking of the newer Gear S

I own the Note 3 but will I need to open a seperate line with Verizon for the watch ?
No, not for this one. You would have to for the newer Gear S.

As long as you install Gear Manager from the Samsung App Store, you should be fine
