Consistant is his name, and I'm glad that he is! Even though some songs I thought would rub me the wrong way, I actually grew to love them, being "The Cycle" and "The Pill". He is just one of those that should be bigger than he is, but he's happy doing what he does and making fans like me all the better for it. His R&B is off the meter, and he is just one of those artist that I don't have to hear a song from first. When he releases a disc, I just go and buy it, and I am NEVER sorry that I did. He makes his songs sound like a lot of thought was placed into it, and his duets were on the money. He's just one of those that I appreciate in the game.

The Trey Songz Triangle.

Every triangle has three sides. One side is the R&B-Balladeer side. This was the smoothest of the sides and I loved it totally! The second side is the explicit side. It just seems to me that he thinks by calling women and men out their names that his fan base will grow. Multiple positions is another must. It seems to me that if he is as true to his calling, he could drop a cd without alla that. The third side is his rapper side. Quite a few raps by Trey, but he's not a rapper. He's a crooner. It took awhile for me, but it didn't get any better, so when he makes up his mind about which direction he want to go, then he'll find me.

Yes, to me, he sounded like Trey Songz, yet August took the more realistic approach. His cd was crafted from the streets. Songs about love, trap houses, smoking, ride or die chicks, hoes, devotion to his mother....alla that rang true for me. Yes, it's explicit, but, in my head, it was needed to bring his point across. Trey used his latest to be a crooner, rapper & R.Kelly performer. He was in too many lanes for me. August stayed in one lane, and made the trek throughout in each and every song. His was a journey traveled in pain, heartbreak, and success. I totally loved this disc, and look forward to many more from him

Truthfully, this soundtrack offered more that I thought. Mary J. brought her A-game with her, and a lot of these songs I didn't hear in the movie, but I had to remember that the words "inspired by" was listed, so I gave it a whirl. "A Night To Remember" was kept in the same vein, so I truly enjoyed it. The rest of the cd had the head bangers and the emotional joints that I'm used to in a Mary J. cd. Her production team was on the money and I was glad that this purchase was made.

Kelis has always been an off-kilter musical kitty to me, so when this dropped, I just bought it. After playing 3 times, it grew on me. She has a serious band backing her up and her vocals are clear. The only part I didn't understand was having titles to your songs that's not heard in your lyrics. Only two songs had the titles in the lyrics, that I heard. Anyway, if you want some serious band music playing with strong vocals, then she's your girl.
