I bought this without seeing it first on the strength of reviews and because I obsessively own all the X-Men movies anyway. So I was gonna buy it even if I hated it. But to my delight the movie wasnt as obnoxiously snarky and self congratulatory as I thought (see Guardians of the Galaxy for THAT). The special features are quite good too. You know one minor gripe is I dont know if its a Best Buy thing but they slap these impossibly tough stickers wherever the heck they want on the box and god help you in pulling it off without damaging your cover art. Seriously guys I know you work in a factory and perhaps dont entirely care but try not to marr the product.
Again with the British accents. If you have a problem with understanding brits then put on the subtitles. And also try not to be easily triggered just enjoy the film. Even if you are religious, if you have a good sense of humor there's nothing really blasphemous about this movie. The movie is told from the perspective of your common idiot surrounding the events of Jesus in Jerusalem. You think there was a time when idiots didnt exist? I think not. And Brian is your classic literary idiot.

Colorful psychadelic little experience on blu ray. Super vivid. And George Martins orchestral score is not to be underestimated (why he did not just become a full time movie composer I will never know. He would have been one of the greats). It's too bad the real Beatles didnt do the voices of the cartoons but the voice actors they got seem pretty convincing.
You know this movie has a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes? Probably one of the most universally loved movies of all time. And a giant engine behind the explosion of the most popular anything of the 20th century. If you have trouble with British accents then turn on subtitles as this is one of the most devilishly funny and verbally cruel movies ever to be aimed at the youth. The musics great as we all know but its the instinctive acting and scripted comedy writing that really stand out most. This movie was meant to be a cashgrab lark to capitalize on a surely trending band with naught but 15 minutes left, but the movie, like the Beatles gave us more than we deserved.
Michael Lindsay-Hogg directs Aiden Quinn and Jared Harris in the supposed McCartney/Lennon reunion film Two of Us, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials if any consequence, making it difficult to recommend this Paramount release to anyone other than a hardcore Beatles fan.
Being as this was a VH1 tv movie there is little chance that this will be remembered but this is a fascinating little character study. A chamber drama if you will between two childhood friends who frankly way overachieved in their ambitions to be famous. How that fame pushed them apart and the awkwardness and ego that seems to eternally prevent them from being honest with eachother and repairing their friendship when finally left alone. Though the events of April 24 1976 are pretty well documented, a Beatles nut like me knows this is not a very accurate depiction of that days events. However I do believe it is 100 percent emotionally accurate. It really is a pretty reasonably fleshed out dialogue that COULD and definitely SHOULD have happened between these two guys based on all the interviews and research and opinions they shared about one another. The performances are a little SNL-ish but mostly organic and real. Stunning little movie.
The trailers werent great, the reviews were moderate, but again Zemeckis overachieves even when he's already proven himself to be one of the most consistent director for years now. What makes this movie uniquely interesting is just the moral confusion of Brad Pitt's character. We, like him, honestly dont know really what we would do in this situation (wont spoil what the situation is). It's simple yet complex. Easy to follow when in lesser hands the film could have been very confusing. Come to think its VERY Hitchockian actually. Great films.
Didnt see it in theatres and so bought it just cause I own all the other Harry Potters. Strange thing about this entire series is you can be a mediocre entry in the series (arguably the weakest?) and still be a completely respectable film with a rather high Rotten Tomatoes score as this one does. This film is very wise to fill out the wizarding world that Harry Potter didn't even bother with (do wizards exist outside of like France, Britain and wherever Durmstrang is?) Oh good wizarding exists in America! Good to see proper adults go at it too and not kids. The period setting is quite a nice change. Decent special features. A good A/V mix. Good buy.
You'll never look at...walking... the same? Yeah walking. The thing we all do and see everyday has now become creepy. Especially if its a stranger walking. And since most of the world and people you see daily are strangers, this movie essentially will perfume how you see the world. So if you want to change the way you see the world for the worse see It Follows. If you dont, then dont watch this movie.
With surprisingly little hesitation I can say (as a HUGE Star Wars fan) that this technically is probably the best Star Wars movie of them all but really Disney needs to put better effort into their special features. I am here to review a blu ray and really it seems blu rays are purchased by the puritans and puritans ought to be spoiled properly. Remember how seriously studios treated their DVD supplements in the late nineties/ early 2000's? It was an abundance of riches. So long as they produce blu rays they really should invest more care into the supplements.
Is it a spoiler by now to reveal the end? Isn't the cat out of the bag? Well to be kind I will keep it private. The movie is great even without the twist. The special features are good too but it would nbe nice if they explored the science of multiple personalities cause I wonder how much of the science in the movie is true. It feels reasonable I just dont know. A great film and the return of a great director.
