I recommend only to people like me who basically just collect things with little judtified reason (I have all the MCU's). Thor 2 is about as middle of the road irrelevent an experience as the MCU can muster. The villains once again are uninteresting, their plan is confusing. And the stakes are really rather low cause apparently Death isnt really a literary notion the MCU people believe in relying on. Nobody really dies. Well they might but it probably wont be for real nor have any lasting value. This movie had a chance to end on a bold/sad/sensible note. And does. Until it doesnt and undoes itself. I wont spoil it but if youve seen it you know what I'm talking about. This movie, like the first Thor, has 'meh' written allover it.

Ok lets be clear about one thing since my opinion is objectively right even if unpopular. Spider-Man 1 is overrated garbage and Spider-Man 3 is underrated and superior to the first one even if it is also a trainwreck. Spider-Man 2 is Spider-Man 2 (yes it's just as great as they say nobody disputes this). But I'm glad this is a specific trilogy with a fine arc for Peter/Harry/Mary Jane that ends on an emotional and very adult note. Even if Peter is kind of a cuck for allowing Mary Jane to walk allover him in high school and only like the popular boys. She is truly quite shallow and only seems to dig him when she finds out he's Spider-Man. Also the whole pretentious tone "with great power..." stuff does weigh these films down. They seem very self righteous for what should be kind of a more light hearted care free character. Despite this tonal flaw the Amazing Spider-Man films only double downed on the pretense (basically proving for any doubters that Sony really doesn't know how to handle this character). Looks like Tom Holland's Spider-Man finally got it right.

Nobody second guesses the TLC Peter JAckson puts into these extended editions. And I absolutely love that they kept the same exact tone/menus of the flawless LOTR EE editions even if they were 10 years ago (the golden age of DVD production really. The exhaustive nature of this release is really a throw back and it would probably take you about 2 days of undivided attention to consume everything on this blu ray. But the movie itself? Weak. Hobbit does not need to be 3 movies. Didnt even need to be 2. It oozes of cash grab and paper thin on narrative content. Tons of hot air. Only reason I think this movie is slightly better than the next 2 Hobbits is because Martin Freeman is amazing as usual and this is the most Bilbo centric movie of the trilogy before it all becomes a convoluted mess and Bilbo gets lost in the mix.

This guy is tiny and super portable. I think it might even be thinner and smaller than my phone. Last time I had a external harddrive it was one of those giant bricks that stored only like, what, 20 gigs? I think I underestimated how sleek and small these things got and how much they store. David O. Russell back in form

I have long felt David O. Russell was one of our best new directors but was unappreciated. Post I Heart Huckabees he really struggled to get a film made and it took ages for him to kind of sell out and do Oscar bait like The Fighter. Though the Fighter wasn't very Russel-ish it did put him back in good standing where the public finally became aware of what a talent he is. He could then be in a better position to get proper Russell films made like American Hustle (messed up selfish narcissistic characters). I mean he's had a renaissance of appreciation over 3 films but Joy might have just jeopardized it. BTW Jennifer Lawrence is great in this movie but someone please notify him that there are other actresses on this planet not named Jennifer Lawrence.

Nearly got egg on their face again

Imagine if the Heat failed to win the title in this 2012 season. Would have probably been the biggest bust up in the history of the sport. And it did look once again as if they might just underperform but I guess the basketball Gods are rather fine with just granting the obvious. Yeah the superteam won a title, who knew? I wish the documentary was a little more candid and self-effacing regarding the notoriety of this team and how perhaps on a human level it was up to the players to prove to us all that they arent some evil juggernaut. That they are just good hard working guys trying to play a game the right way. But they might be evil so who knows? Documentary doesnt really scour these questions.

Dont let it be forgot that once there was a spot. That one brief shining moment that was known as Camelot. Just kidding. The Heat were lame and I dont think anyone misses them. But I do think with this championship season they were less villified. People kind of got over it whatever "it" is. They were a good team, theyd already won, its' their league now we just live in it. But the reign didnt last too long. My problem with this DVD as a production is the emotional tone of ALL these dvds is exactly the same regardless of the difference between teams. The Spurs are not at all the same identity as the Heat but you wouldnt really know better cause all these videos are produced in a very format way. Gets a little monotonous.

Leave it to the thankless Spurs to blow up the Death Star. San Antonio that boring team that just wont go away. I own all of the NBA champion DVDs from 1979-80 season to now. In recent years there has been a dip in quality in that 1) these dvds tend to skim over certain rounds whereas in the past they used to literally tackle each game one at a time. Also everything about these DVD's have become format in terms of editing, style, music. They used to have their own fresh tone in past years (80s and 90s for sure). But if you're an NBA fan or obviously a Spurs fan you want these DVDs. Or if you just hate Miami's big 3. End of an era this season.

Keep this BLU RAY despite re-release!

Ok so if you are a fan of this movie you should definitely get the Rogue Cut as it makes an already great film even a little better. But whether you see it as a positive or negative that edition does not carry over all the special features from this blu-ray so you gotta hang on to this one (unfortunately?) and not sell or trade it. As a blu ray in and of itself its a well put together release but there is a sense of double dipping as the studio knew they were going to release this title twice in a relatively short span. I feel the studios have gotten more fair in terms of just releasing an alternative version on the initial release (like Batman V Superman or the Logan black and white cut). Anyways we all know Days of Futures Past is great and arguably the best X-Men movie but my purpose of this review is for blu ray freaks to let them know there is content exclusive to this disc if you want all special features.
