Just what I needed.
on April 18, 2024
Posted by: Ludlow
While I would no longer consider myself a technophile, I am certainly no slouch when it comes to understanding hardware but it had been a long time since I last opened up a tower and inserted my own accessory or upgrade. Well, I'm glad I dusted off the old know-how and did with this hard drive because it's just what the doctor ordered.
I'm not a heavy video editor but my 7 year old drone does take 4K video footage and editing these 10 minutes flights over a span of a few years has eaten up all my hard drive space. Now, not only am I able to save hundreds of hours of additional footage, but the read/write speeds allow me to use this drive to edit as well.
To fully test out this SSD I installed Starfield on it and picked up where I left off. No issues what-so-ever.
If you're looking for some additional storage for your tower, I would highly recommend this SSD. Samsung is a trusted name for me in so many areas, and I can now add computer hardware to it.
I don't think you'll go wrong with this hard drive. Good luck!

A very solid ink jet printer
on March 8, 2024
Posted by: Ludlow
I have spent the last 10 years with a color laser jet printer from HP so I was excited to see how they had improved upon the ink jet printer since the last time I owned one. In some ways they have, and in some ways, I don't think it will ever be possible.
The installation is great, but I am not a fan of the HP+ software. I find it too intrusive and feel it wants too much access to your data for what it really does. Also, since I'm not someone who generally needs to print dozens (hundreds?) of pages while I'm halfway around the world, maybe I'm not the right target demographic. But I had to sign up to get my free Instant Ink trial.
Instant ink is a great idea for someone who prints a lot. I am not one of those people, but if I was I would find it very useful. For the time being I signed up for the 10 pages/month plan for $1.50. I figure if I try it for a year the worst I'm out is $18.
The quality of color documents is outstanding, but you'll never be able to print a photo or rich colorful image without the page coming out wet and curling up if you don't flatten it.
One of the things I love most about this printer is the default double sided printing. I also like the ease of sharing th printer on my network and for my wife to be able to print to it without knowing what she's doing.

This vacuum sucks GREAT!
on March 8, 2024
Posted by: Ludlow
I have owned my fair share of stick vacuums in my life, mostly from other brands rhyming with park and tyson. This is my first LG Stick Vacuum and I was literally surprised by the performance of a vacuum for the first time in my life. The assembly was relatively easy and I was able to complete it in about 10 minutes. Since there are so few, I'll start with the
Cons:
I do wish there was a way to more securely, or out of the way, store the mop attachment. Putting it on the side is cumbersome and awkward.
The battery takes a long time to charge, but it lasts a long time...so give and take.
Pros:
The suction power is quite remarkable with every attachment. It is ALMOST too much for our ruggable rugs.
The pet attachment gets a special mention because it actually made me take a picture of something I vacuumed.
Pairing with the LG app is easy and lets you know when your battery is fully charged.
I complained about the length of time it takes to charge it but the amount of power you get and the duration you get to run the vacuum more than makes up for it.
At the end of the day I would literally recommend this vacuum via word of mouth to my friends and family...I like it that much.

A must for anyone hard on their phone
on November 18, 2023

I really like this screen protector. It really does its job and doesn't have any of the annoying pitfalls that usually come with a screen protector. I hardly notice that its there its so smooth. I honestly do forget that its there. I've had no issues with it inhibiting any gestures. In the past I have had issues with some of the oils building up and creating issues with the screen and not being able to select or swipe. The picture is unaffected and it doesn't affect how colors appear. I also have dropped my phone several times and it has protected my screen and hasn't gotten a single scratch on it at all. I forgot that I had keys in my pocket and was running around all day with my phone screen against them. And it stood up to it all like a champ. I've had no issues with picture clarity when I'm trying to check the time or glance at it from a distance or when I'm reaching over with it on the bedside lying down. It may not be a good thing but I'm putting it through its paces a bit more than I probably should because of how well its been holding up.

Solid Choice-pretty happy with it
on November 18, 2023

It's a solid case. There is no shifting of the phone since it molds to it well but still protects it really well from any drops and bumps. I've dropped my phone a few times on accident on pavement and hard flooring and it protects it. Just hard enough so that it doesn't shift and muffle any of my phone calls but also soft enough that it absorbs all of the impact from drops and bumps. Also sticks really well on the magnetic phone chargers. My only gripe is I feel like it is a little too thick sometimes so that the magnet has a hard time getting a good grip on the surface. It stays really well once it does find a good hold. But it has slipped off the car magnet and charger once or twice. There were a few times when I was trying to get it to stick and it kept missing or sliding off but once I got the feel of it, it hasn't happened since. The other part I like is where the buttons on the side are covered. they don't stick and its easy to feel and they don't restrict any of the movement so I'm not having to press any harder than I would with the case off. I also like that I can take it on and off without too much effort but it never falls off, not even a corner. it also doesn 't trap dirt or oils like other cases I've had in the past which is a big plus.

There’s not much more I can say about this case except that it does what you would expect it to do. It’s a very sturdy case and fits my new iPhone perfectly, as it should. I like the color and it’s easy to distinguish mine from most other people’s phones when I don’t have it in my pocket.
I especially appreciate the fact that I can leave my case on and still charge it using the mag charge feature. Previous cases didn’t have that option and I hated having to take my case on and off every night. (First world problem, I know.). But having the mag charge magnet built in to the case is great as I have a magnetic mount in my car as well so now I can charge and navigate simultaneously while keeping my phone in the case. Super convenient for the times my wife decides to go off-roading unexpectedly and the phone falls off the mount!
Overall, this is a top quality case and it is sturdy to boot. The coverings for the buttons on the side feel easy to manipulate while being securely protected.
Would definitely recommend to others.

It does what it says…I guess.
on October 20, 2023
Posted by: Ludlow
The very least I can say about this product is that it does what it says it does. That is the most I can say about this product too. I appreciated the built in Western Digital software that was included on the drive but ultimately, in order to not have unnecessary applications on my computer, I ended up formatting the drive and wiping it completely.
I was hoping to use this 1TB external drive with me on the fly on either my Mac or my PC laptops but after waiting on the frustratingly slow speed of data transfer, I just can’t make a use case for this for anything other than long term or cold storage. It’s a 1 TB drive that supposedly supports up to 5GB/s pass through, but while dragging and dropping folders to it, I only got up to 80MB/s and took a long time to transfer 80 GB worth of folders. I tried in multiple USB ports on my new desktop as well as using a USBC -> USBA adapter to ensure that I had maximum throughput when it came to speed, but I still got the exact same result regardless of what port I used or what data I transferred over.
Frustrated at the slowness of this device and hoping that I can open her up, remove the internal storage and put it directly on my mother board in my desktop or put it in an enclosure that allows for faster data transfer. Would not recommend.

Meet the Ninja Foodi DualZone FlexBasket Air Fryer with 7-qt MegaZone. With the MegaZone, you can now cook larger proteins or entire meals that feed your whole family all in one basket. Insert the basket divider to cook with two 3.5 qt baskets or remove it to cook in 1 MegaZone for full 7-qt capacity. Eliminate back-to-back cooking with Dual Zone Technology. Use Smart Finish to cook 2 foods, 2 ways that finish cooking at the same time, or sync the settings across both zones with Match Cook. Plus, it features 6 cooking functions (air fry, air broil, roast, bake, reheat, dehydrate) so no matter what you’re craving, you can make it all in this 7 qt air fryer. Then, when you’re done cooking, cleanup is a breeze with nonstick and dishwasher safe crisper plates and basket.

Not bad for my first time!
on September 3, 2023
Posted by: Ludlow
After seeing friends, family and neighbors purchase an air fryer, I was so excited to be able to join in on the fun after getting the Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Air Fryer with 7-qt MegaZone. With a toddler, this thing has saved both me and my wife lots of time in the kitchen and has transformed her karage (Japanese fried chicken) into something much less unhealthy to eat! But what we really love about this is that it isn't limited to air frying. We've been able to use the bake feature for desserts and vegetables and we've been able to use the dehydrate feature to try to make homemade dog treats. Where this machine really stood out for us was the ability to cook two separate things simultaneously using different cooking methods, different cooking temperatures, and different cooking times. Not only that but it will even start each item at the appropriate time so everything finishes together...if you want it to. For me personally, I prefer my steak to be done a few minutes before everything else so it can rest after cooking. And with the Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Air Fryer I can also set my steak to finish first so it has time to rest...like a good steak should.
At the end of the day I would highly recommend this air fryer and very much am looking forward to the next time I use it. And the next time....and the time after that...

Excellent Flight Sim Controller
on January 13, 2023
Posted by: Ludlow
After purchasing MS Flight Sim I was stuck on what controller to get. I had been using my keyboard for a little while but knew I would need something else. With options ranging from $29 to $4,500 and everywhere in-between, I wasn't sure where to go. Should I get a HOTAS, should I get a yoke? What should I do? Then I found the Turtle Beach - VelocityOne Flightstick. I had used other Turtle Beach products before (headset for Xbox) and thought the quality was outstanding, so in going with a brand name I trust, I went with this flight stick.
Overall I am happy with my selection and still may ultimately also get a VelocityOne yoke but for now, as I said, I'm very happy with this option. Out of the box it is easy to use and pre-configured in a way that makes sense. Additionally, it is very easy to customize (once you read the brief online instruction guide). Out of the box it comes prepped for use with an Xbox, but it is easily changeable to PC, which is what I needed. Additionally out of the box it is programmed for a right handed user, but is very easy to switch to left handed, and that includes the hand wrest that screws into either side of the stick.
I liked the instant integration with the game as well. On the "Objectives" window when it gives you a step, it also tells you which button number to press to accomplish that step. Example: B2 to release brakes. (And while the buttons are reversed when you toggle between right and left handed, the game is not smart enough to change the button numbers on the objective you must do the simple calculation swap in your head. Button 1 = Button 5, Button 2 = Button 6 etc.).
I do wish that they would include a more inclusive user manual than what is provided in the box, but scanning a QR code is the new manual, I get that, and I strongly encourage anyone who purchases this to scan the QR code in the quick start guide and spend 5 minutes going over the detailed instructions. There are quite a few settings that I am eager to learn to tweak like trim wheel, analog axis, etc.
One of the things that I think would be most beneficial is the ability to modify the stiffness of the stick. When making small movements, it is sometimes difficult, especially for a novice, to keep a plane flying straight or level. Also, and this is a big one for me, I wish there were suction cups on the bottom, or a clamp or some other way to make the base more stable. I leave the controller flat on my desk and in simulations, such as fighter jet or something where you need less than gentle movements, the base of the stick rises off the desk and you lose the direction you were trying to move the plane in.
Overall this is solidly built and has enough customization for 99% of sim fliers out there and I would definitely recommend.

Year in, year out.
on November 27, 2022

This is my 4th year in a row using (upgrading) my version of Adobe Premiere Elements. I continue to edit videos for a Soundscape Wellness YouTube channel as well as for my own personal family videos and this application is the exact level of editing software I need because while I no longer consider myself a beginner, I am also certainly not a professional but Adobe Premiere Elements 2023 makes my videos look pretty darn professional.
At this point I am past the simplistic layout and choose to have multiple video and audio tracks displayed along with a separate music track as well. Additionally if there is a feature I want to try but haven't yet, figuring it out in Premiere Elements is a breeze.
The only thing I would like to see fixed about this application is the Help menu. It would be great if someone would be able to type in layman's terms what they're trying to do and the program would intuitively point you to the appropriate knowledge base article. It is frustrating if you don't know the technical term for something but you're still trying to use the app for help.
Overall however the app is outstanding and I love the downloadable content (titles, slides, etc.) that you can access through it.

Safe and convenient fast wireless charging up to 15W.* Our fastest wireless charging pad unclutters your bedroom, office, or living room while simplifying charging—just lay your phone onto the pad and go. Qi certification ensures standard compatibility and provides peace of mind.

I have just purchased an iPhone 12 max 12 pro. Is this pad compatible? Will the pad charge my phone as quickly as when I plug it in the wall. There are magnets in this new phone. Does that cause any problems with this charger?

Works fine with my iPhone 12 Pro. You do have to place the iPhone exactly on the center of the charging pad though so be warned. As far as speed of charge I’d say it’s similar to a usb c AC adapter.

No. This is not meant to drown out any noise. The sounds it plays, typically while you're sleeping, are imperceptible while sleeping. You will still be woken up by general room sounds and snoring if you're a light sleeper.
