Awesome little drive

Awesome little drive. Popped this baby into my 2nd M.2 slot and fired up my computer. I noticed that it didn't show up on file explorer. I headed over to Samsung's website and downloaded the data migration software. Once I started the migration software, the new drive showed up. I simply selected my old M.2 and cloned everything to the Samsung 1TB 980. The whole process took less than 20 min. The computer now boots from the 980. This new drive definitely shaved a couple of seconds off my boot time and games load noticeably faster. I highly recommend this drive for anyone looking to add more space or upgrade, as I did, from an Gen1 M.2 drive.

Wow, Wow, Wow

Wow, Wow, Wow
I was not expecting this experience especially at this price.
By far the best fit and sound I have experienced to date. (Better than even another premium brand name set I have that cost much more)
Finally, some ear buds with BASS. These Dot 2 XR’s have bass and sound great throughout the entire sound spectrum.
I do not think I will ever reach for any of my other headphones in my collection (Which is a lot)
Comfort – I almost gave up on earbuds as it seemed like every pair I have tried in the past either had terrible bass or fit terrible. They fell out constantly. The fit of these is great, they actually stay in my ears. They are also so light you hardly know when you have them in.
I use them mostly with the Noise Cancellation mode on as you get the best sound in this mode. However, people can sneak up on you as they really cancel out all other sound. I do use in transparency mode at my desk at times for that reason. You also have a ‘Normal’ option as well.
Noise cancellation – this was a surprise as well. My test is always my tractor for this sound quality. This is the first set of ear buds that cancelled most of the sound. I actually had these Dot 2 XR’s in my ears and playing music when I started my tractor and at first I thought maybe there was something wrong with the engine as I hardly heard it. Again… wow. They really work.
The app – Works well. This app provides you the ability to easily select the ambient noise options along with EQ and control options. i.e., change the default touch settings.
Calls – Sound quality is great on both ends. My wife is the first to let me know when the sound is bad on my end. This time around she did not even realize I had the ear buds in when we spoke.
Battery - I run them of and on all day at my desk throughout my workday and they last all day. Grant it, sometimes on standby. I would say I get about 6- 7 hours. You can also put them in the case to recharge as the case will recharge then up to 5 times (35 hrs). I would say this is accurate as I have owned for about a week and have not plugged in the case after the initial charge. They fast charge as well. With 10 minutes of charge, you can get 1.5 hours of listening.
IPX5 water resistance makes them safe to getting caught in the rain, sweat etc.
Now I usually have my list of CONS that I share, but honestly, I do not have any.
BOTTOM LINE – BUY THESE! YOU WON’T REGRET IT.

SoundLink Revolve+ II, the best-performing portable Bluetooth speaker from Bose, is engineered to spread deep, jaw-dropping sound in every direction. Place it in the center of the room to give everyone the same experience. Or set it near a wall and sound will radiate and reflect around the room, immersing you in that same feeling you felt at your favorite show. The tapered cylindrical shape with a flexible handle makes this wireless speaker easy to grab and go, while a durable aluminum body provides worry-free protection. And it’s water and dust resistant so you can keep the party going, even if it starts to rain. The rechargeable, lithium-ion battery plays up to 17 hours — for full-day listening. Voice prompts talk you through Bluetooth pairing, and there’s a built-in speakerphone for calls. Use the Bose Connect app to pair two SoundLink speakers for Stereo or Party Mode. The app also helps you manage your devices, unlock features, and access future updates. Available in Triple Black or Luxe Silver.

Great sound in a small package

Great sound in a small package
The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II is a fantastic portable speaker.
You can’t go wrong with most Bose products. Sound quality is always at the top. This little speaker is a powerhouse.
This speaker is Bluetooth / Aux only, No Alexa or Google assistant. However, you can access your phones assistant by pressing and holding the the multi-function button for 2 seconds.
The 360 degree sound is very nice. Good bass, not too little, not too much. Clear sound even at max volume.
Below are what stood out to me:
Pros:
Portable Size
Very nice flexible handle
Durability – No seams, Rubber bumpers on top and bottom
Great Bluetooth – Good distance, no Bluetooth issues
Ability to link more than one speaker (Bose compatible). I could not test this as I don’t own another Bose speaker.
Water resistant
Up to 16 hrs play time
Voice prompts are nice. It even announces the battery level upon powering up.
Speaker functions and sounds good on both ends during phone calls as well. (Don’t get too far away from the speaker when speaking through.
Cons:
None that I have found
Overall a great little unit. Bose sound and quality that I expect to last a long time.

Great Suction, but has flaws
on March 9, 2021
Posted by: Mukman
from Mukwonago
Shark - Rotator Powered Lift-Away Deluxe Bagless 3-in-1 Upright Vacuum - Rose/Gunmetal
I will start out by stating I am comparing to our DuoClean Shark Lift Away Speed that we have had a couple years.
This Rotator Powered Lift-Away if larger, heavier, wider roller and the suction is incredible. Almost too much to be honest. A little hard to move on our new thicker style carpet. You definitely have to use the high carpet setting.
I have had two of the Lift Away models and my wife loves them. You must make sure you maintain the filters and the roller. If you do, the vacuum will maintain great suction. The problem with the previous models we have owned is the hose at the bottom that goes from the handle to the vacuum head. After a few years that tube cracks, and you cannot replace it. You must replace the whole head ($96). (I point to this area in my picture)
It does appear that this model comes apart in a way that you should be able to replace just the tube in the future. Plus this unit has a 5 year warranty.
They power switch is also in the handle. I like the convenience of this, but it is hard to press and seems to hesitate to power up the unit after your press it. My wife and I both found this switch hard to work.
We do love the LED light in the handle. This makes it very nice to see the area you are cleaning with the hand tools. Lights on head are good as well.
I also found it a bit weird that when you wrap the cord for storage you end up pinching the bristles on the dusting brush.
We are unable to vacuum our light bathroom throw rugs. Either too much suction or too much lift from roller.
Standard crevice tool instead of the Duster crevice tool. The Duster tools is very useful, not sure why they don’t make this standard.
I also feel the cord is too short. It is 25 ft. I have to reconnect multiple times to cover great room.
Pros:
LED light on handle
Larger container for debris
Powerful suction for deep cleaning
Lift away allows you to get under tight spaces and reach overhead
Future part replacement / maintenance
5 Year Warranty
Cons:
Hard power button
Can’t do bath / kitchen throw rugs
Included tools are nothing special
25ft Cord (may not be a drawback for some)
Overall a powerful multi use vacuum. I would say if you have mostly carpet this would be a good choice. If you have mostly hard surface floors though I would upgrade to one with the DuoClean roller options. They pick up everything on hard surfaces and I prefer those models.
Forgive my dual color old vac. (Not a Shark issue)

The iPad is a great device, especially if you pair it with an Apple Pencil. A full-fledged computer, the power of a digital work environment literally at your fingertips. But one thing is still not great: the Apple Pencil slipping around on the iPad's glass surface feels unnatural and the pencil tip gets stuck on fingerprints and smudges. It simply doesn't feel right. If you're like us, you miss the accuracy of writing on paper. Paperlike, a screen protector that emulates the natural feel of paper when writing and drawing on the iPad. The most significant challenges in developing the Paperlike were finding the right friction while keeping light refractions at a minimum. And keeping the material smooth enough, so it doesn't eat up the pencil tip like sandpaper (a lot of regular matte screen protectors do that). That's why we developed a unique surface technology called Nanodots. These microbeads are evenly distributed across the foil and allow for a natural paper-feel while keeping as much of your iPad's brilliant display quality as possible. Join tens of thousands of artists, students, and notetakers around the world who love Paperlike. And finally, make your iPad the truly magnificent device it can be.

Nice Feel
on March 9, 2021

This Paperlike screen protector lives up to its name.
My daughter is an artist and uses her iPad mostly for drawing. She likes the look and the finer feel she gets when drawing.
Instructions lead you to an install video to watch. If you follow the instructions, you should have no trouble. As you will see in my picture, I forgot to affix the last sticker, the one used as the handle on a door. That made it hard to slowly fold the protector to the screen. I somehow still made it work.
Also make sure you clean your screen really well. My daughters screen was super dirty, and I just cleaned it with the included alcohol pad. I should have cleaned it with window cleaner first, then use the cleaning pads. I had one very small end that did not stick perfectly because of this. Final product still looks great.
Love the matte look as it eliminates the glare.
Nice product I would recommend.

Saved me money
on February 14, 2021

from Mukwonago
Good, detailed software.
Last year I used another online service I found to work quite well. It has a slightly more visually appealing interface than this one.
So this year I ran both this HR Block software and the online competitor (Free)
So again, I found some of the usability of the online version a little easier to understand and simplified. However, when I was completed, I found the H&R block software provided me better write offs and a better return. I ended up having to pay this year, and the H&R Deluxe software found me more write offs and saved me almost $500.
I also did like the fact that I could stop and come back to pick up where I was at without having to log back in.
I would recommend you purchase the Federal / State combo offering up front when you purchase this software as you will end up paying more if you add State later.
The software allows you to scan in documents like your W2 as well. Be careful to double check the numbers as I found a couple small corrections. But this feature really saves you some keystrokes.
I look forward to being able to import all my tax information from 2020 to 2021 next year. Should save me even more time.
Bottom line is I did pay for this software, but it saved me much more in taxes, so well worth it.
Suggestion - I would like to see an ability to see what form you are on related to the question or topic your are currently in. Maybe side by side view. Sometimes I lose track of the write off. I.e. – are they asking me the auto expense for my main job or my part time business etc.
I look forward to improvements and ease of use next year.

Fast, Good with one set-up hurdle

Epson - RapidReceipt RR-70W Wireless Mobile Receipt and Color Document Scanner
This Epson RR-70W is a fast and compact scanner.
Set up was pretty straight forward but I would say the instructions could be better.
The scanner is very fast and does a very nice job of recognizing the images and text it scans.
Connection through USB works great. You can either press the start button on the scanner or open up smart scan app and initiate from the software. Once you scan a piece into the software you have a choice to do the following:
Save
Attach to email
Send to Dropbox
Send to Evernote
Manage Invoices/Receipts
Print
Save to Word
Save to Excel
Save to PowerPoint
Send to OneDrive
So, as you see you have a variety of options.
I personally use the Manage Invoices/Receipts. This option pulls in the receipt and captures data such as Total, Tax, tip etc. It does good job pulling in the dollar amounts etc. and also gives you the ability to add and edit before saving.
What I really like is the added software that comes with this scanner (Which helps justify the cost). Don’t miss the postcard size card with download instructions and serial number that comes in the box. This is pretty powerful PDF software. My default now. It does a nice job with OCR. You can covert a PDF to Word, Excel and more. Great software for the toolbox.
I would have liked to see some instructions on this software and how best used in conjunction with the scanner and its interface.
I did have some trouble connecting over Wi-fi though. I would turn on, insert my document and press the scan button and would just bet blinking lights. I believe this was due to my laptop connection to my 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
This scanner and your device (computer or mobile) must hook up to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. I even had to look up my router documentation to find out how to disable 5 GHz temporarily to get this connected properly. My router attempts to connect my devices to 5GHz by default so it will be interesting to see if I will continue to have a connection issue.
Once connected to 2.4GHz I found I need to power up the scanner and wait a bit until I get the pop up message on my laptop that says scanner is connected to Wi-Fi. Then if I press the start button it seems to work fine.
I would say if Wi-Fi is not a must and/or don’t mind the USB cord then you perhaps want to save the money and go with the RR-60 model. Plug in and scan. Less hassle.
Other than the Wi-fi issue, this unit has helped me clear up some paperwork and organize now and into the future.

Home Run !
on January 23, 2021
Posted by: Mukman
from Mukwonago
This is a great video doorbell.
Set up was easy as far as the app goes. The Lorex Home app and it walks you through all the set up.
You simply scan a smart code to link to your camera. Then you need to find your power source for your doorbell. I was unsure where that was personally, but found it first try. My indoor chime is located in the hallway, so I simply shut off my hallway breaker…bingo that was it.
They will explain how to find your breaker by locating the transformer. My transformer was actually located inside the electrical box behind the chime on the wall. Lots of other online videos to help you with this if needed.
Once I powered down the breaker the rest was pretty simple, just take your time.
The app contains three tabs; Devices, Events and Settings.
Device tab – You can click on the camera thumbnail to view live, or press the 3 dots in upper right to go into the settings where you can set notifications, motion detection (sensitivity, zones etc), Video , Sound, Night vision, Doorbell Quick responses, Object bounding box, chime etc. They really thought of everything.
Events Tab – View events per date captured.
Settings – Overall App settings such as Home & Away, My Devices, View Manual recording and snaps, test your Wi-Fi and set up for Alexa, Google Assistant and account settings.
Experience:
I have my detection set for push notifications which means a few seconds after activated you can a notification on your phone. You can click it to view live and even turn on the mic to talk to whoever is at the door. Works very well & Picture quality is great. The App is quick to launch to see your live video. Fastest I have experiences to date.
When someone rings the bell you get an electronic ring on your phone and a notification pop up that you can click on and interact.
I really like that the video shows the entire capture from even right before the motion (Person) was detected. I have other video cameras that do not start recoding until triggered, so you miss the first couple seconds.
I also noticed I do not get false triggers. I did set the video detection to ignore the road out front but am pleasantly surprised how well it actually works.
Here is what knocks the ball out of the park... is NO MONTHLY FEE. Your video is stored on a micro-SD (which comes installed).
I have been using for just over a week and have found no drawbacks whatsoever. Great product.
I highly recommend.

Not for me

from Mukwonago
Just not for me personally.
This is my first experience with bone conducting headphones. I didn't really know what to expect to be honest. I will say they just are not for me. The sound quality is just okay. Definitely not for audiophiles.
When trying to bring up the bass etc. you feel a weird pulsing that is not pleasant. You get a set of ear plugs to isolate outside noise and you get slightly better sound.
I will say they sound fine for podcasts, talk radio, etc. I think these are more designed for those who want a better awareness of their surroundings. Perhaps a runner, working out or sitting at your desk.
Comfort is again just okay in my opinion; I have not been able to get used to something resting in front of my ears. I also experience sound changing when moving my jaw etc.
Controls are very simple, simple 2 buttons and battery life is average at 6 hours.
Water resistance has a IP55 rating.
Multipoint pairing allows you to be connected to 2 devices at once.
Call quality is very good. Perhaps a little loud on the receiver end.
Bottom line – Good for walker, runner, biking etc. where you want more awareness of surroundings. Not for someone looking for high quality music etc.

I really like this speakerphone. Of course most of us are not traveling as much these days, so it mostly sits on my desk. I do a lot of conference calls these days due to the Covid 19 pandemic and really enjoy the sound quality and the easy touch buttons. I have it connected to my PC through a standard USB connection. I did have to use a USB C to standard USB connector so I could use one of my other ports. It would be nice if they included one with the kit.
Easy set up. Simply plug and play.
The top had very easy touch buttons for Answer call, Volume down, Volume up, Mute/Unmute and End/Reject call. Nice status lights that go around the top to show status. This is real nice as you can clearly see when you are mute by red lights around the circumference.
Around the side you have the 2 Standard USB and 1 USB C port for charging your other devices or file transfers and even an HDMI port to power up another monitor.
This will be a great tool when back to work and having a meeting in a conference room or presenting for a client.
I also like the built-in cord storage for when I do go mobile.
Nice size for mobile and does not take to much space on your desk.
This will be a permanent part of my work tools moving forward.
Very nice product.

There are two versions available but no way to specify which version you need. Want to order but want the version that is cut specifically for the 2020 version which has different cutouts from the 2018.

It just has cut outs for the camera area. This is for 2018-2020 version of the 12.9"
I uploaded a picture. Hope that helps.
