Ji Ja Yanin once again rules the screen. This is film features Yanin learning a unique martial art style that is a hybrid of Capoeira and drunken fist boxing. She works together with a group of outcasts to abolish a group of criminals that kidnap unsuspecting women. The role that Yanin plays is a far cry from her character in the movie "Chocolate". I would have to say that this was a very good follow up to her starring debut.
This release from the darkly fantastical anime series Basilisk features all 24 episodes of the series on four discs, following the story of a battle between two clans battling for control in Feudal Japan. Extras with the release include trailers, textless songs, and more.
Basilisk is enthralling. It is the type of series that after the end of each episode you can't wait to see what happens next. Personally, I don't believe there are many hardcore "feudal japan" period anime full length series or movies available in America. When one of this caliber is released it should not be overlooked. This series is superior to many classic intellectual properties out there including Ninja Scroll. The story revolves around two feuding ninja clans. The top five martial experts of each clan are to annihilate each other. Without elaborating any further, just go ahead and purchase this series. Now available as an "anime classic" which is part of a special selection of top notch anime distributed through Funimation, it is less expensive than it was originally. It is totally worth the price!
I may be biased since I've been a fan of this character long before he hit the screen, but this truly is a stupendous film. Ryan Reynolds portrayed the true essence of Deadpool. I am so pleased that there was a flawless transition of this to the big screen. Deadpool is an unorthodox super hero (to say the least) an anti hero of sorts. Sensitive, easily offended viewers should stay far away due to the film's brand of humor. Anyone else can't help but enjoy the exploits of this highly unusual character that has a propensity for breaking the fourth wall. Watch it and enjoy!
This release features the complete anime series Tokyo ESP, which centers around a high-school girl who develops the power to move through objects and teams up with her classmate who can teleport to fight evil.
This series definitely had potential. the first episode leaves you desperate to see more as it begins as a rated r version of X-men. The second episode spawns the origin story of the main character. Over the course of the series we learn how certain individuals gained their powers and how they adapted to the use of them. Some people use their powers for good and evil. The obvious X-men inspiration will be alluring to some viewers. This is not a first season, but the entire series (which I believe consisted of thirteen episodes). Too bad, I would have liked to have seen more.
I was pleasantly surprised with this film. A band plays a song of forbidden lyrics that open a gateway to the underworld. Soon demons are invading the living. It's to a couple of metal heads in a bromance, a hot love interest, and a couple of nerds to drive the demons back to the underworld. A delight for horror fans that like their films nice and bloody. The special effects are fantastic. This is one to watch!
This release from the dark and mysterious anime series Death Note includes the entire series, following the story of Light Yagami, a bright high school student whose distaste for the world's suffering and injustice is given an outlet when he finds the notebook of a shinegami, granting him the power to end any human's life by simply writing down their name.
Death note with its unique premise is a must watch. It tells the tale of a highly intelligent high school student that obtains a "special" notebook. the user may write the name of any person on earth and cause his or her death. The student decides to use this power to rid the world of criminals. This particular dvd set contains 10 discs. It is definitely worth the price of admission.
This dark and mysterious release from the psychological sci-fi anime series Steins;Gate includes episodes 1-12 of the show, following the hallucinatory and bizarre story of self-described mad scientist Okarin, who discovers the ability to transcend time, which has epic consequences for the people he knows - and everyone else on earth.
Watching Steins;gate was such an enjoyable experience. If you are fanatical with science fiction/time travel ventures, then this is the series for you. What starts off with an almost humorous story quickly spirals into an intriguing premise, and then ultimately "The Butterfly Effect" (once tragedy strikes). This series is so infectious. Do not hesitate on this one.
As a fan of cult classic films of the 70's and 80's, I can say categorically that I was not impressed with Bonnie's Kids. In fact, it was quite a let down. At first the movie did seem promising with it's basic premise of two runaway young ladies escaping from a horrid homestead of molestation, only through the means of violence. But it quickly spirals into a less than intriguing plot of other events. From someone that has seen his fair share of grindhouse classics, this is certainly not up to par.
This is the definitive collection for Fist Of The North Star fans. For people that detest English dubbed anime shows, they will be pleased to know that There are Japanese language with subtitles available for every episode. There are only English language track options available for a small percentage of the series. These were the episodes that Manga had English dubbed with their incomplete release of the series. This classic head exploding show is back. If you are a fan of the movie, there isn't any reason that you would not enjoy the show.
I wasn't impressed with this film by any means. On a positive note, the dialogue is quite good. Interaction between the characters is performed well. The problem with this film is that it has been acknowledged as a horror western, and you don't get much of the horror until its brutal climax. The movie is a slow burn. I would definitely recommend viewing this product before purchasing. You may not be getting what you're expecting.
