It sounds like you have a voice gateway; in other words, a modem, router, and telephony device in one box. The Motorola MG7310 would take the place of the gateway that you currently have, saving you the rental fee for the gateway and allowing you to set up all your own passwords for better security. It might outperform what you currently have, but there's no way to tell without trying. The Motorola MG7310 does NOT have voice service, so you cannot connect a telephone through the gateway, but if you're not planning on getting your phone service through TWC that won't matter. Comcast has recently come out with new service bundles that are a better deal than the Triple Play internet/TV/telephone bundle that they had. I don't know what your TWC package includes, but this gateway doesn't include telephone, just internet and TV, which is still a separate box with Comcast, and I'm assuming with TWC as well. You DO still need an ISP (internet service provider) in order to bring internet into your home, and a cable TV provider if you want cable TV. I get most of my TV programming through the internet, usually Netflix and Amazon Prime, but I do have the basic TV package from Comcast for local channels and live TV. The pay channels like HBO etc. can be added to your TV service or through Amazon Prime; they're cheaper for me through Amazon but there's no live streaming, it's all on-demand. I have Starz with Comcast because it's free, Showtime through Amazon Prime because it's cheaper. If you buy one of these Motorola's you have to hook it up yourself, which should be easy if you're simply replacing the gateway that you have. Once installed you'll have to call TWC and have them "provision" your gateway. They'll know what you're talking about. I'd call TWC before you buy this gateway to make sure it's compatible with their service, but I'm willing to bet it will be. Good luck.
