Google Pixel 4 is the phone made the Google way. Its camera takes a perfect shot every time, even when it's dark out. The new Google Assistant helps you do things, such as control your phone and multitask between apps - with just your voice. Pixel 4 is also the first phone with Motion Sense, letting you use gestures to get things done without having to touch your phone. Google Pixel 4 is built around Google software you know and love that's always getting better.

Very Impressive Photo Camera

I've had the pleasure of carrying the Google Pixel 4 in my pocket and snapping photos and videos for the past few days. I'm an "enthusiast" photographer. I own several cameras and lenses and love shooting photos as a hobby. I find myself always wanting a pocketable camera for the times I'm not carrying one of my mirrorless cameras. I can honestly say that the Google Pixel 4 fills that need for me, at least for stills. The video quality could use some help. Video quality is mediocre at best, I wouldn't rely on it heavily, but it's good enough for most occasions. The best you get out of it is 4k 30fps, i prefer to keep it at 1080p 60 fps for the smooth look and smaller file sizes. But back to the still camera because this is hands down still the best I've tried on a smartphone for 2019. You could argue that other phone cameras are just as good or better, but I feel that google renders jpgs a bit better than the competition. Colors pop, especially in low light and skin tones look more accurate and pleasing to my eye. The dual exposure sliders in the camera are extremely helpful and welcome. One slider brightens or dims your exposure while the other brightens or darkens the shadows. This is very helpful for those backlit situations. I love being able to adjust all of that before taking the photo and not having to go back and edit the photo after. Google's computational photography is so good right now that I trust the camera to expose everything properly if I am in a hurry to get the photo. You get a standard lens and telephoto lens to shoot with, Telephoto + digital zoom works great in well lit situations, but don't expect magic in low light or nighttime photos with the tele and digital zoom. I've shared a few photos that I took with the Pixel 4, take a look!
I think I will keep the Pixel 4 in my pocket all the time for my daily photos! I have to mention that Google Photos is also the best for backing up your photos and videos. I love the way it organizes your photos and videos and edits pictures automatically for you. I really wish google would have kept the Original Resolution perk for google photos with the Pixel, but it's really hard to complain when it's already free. And honestly 12mp is perfectly fine and usable for prints upto 8x10. I rarely print anything larger than that.
Still with me? Let's talk a little about the actual phone. This is where I have a couple minor complaints. Mostly about the battery and storage.
Battery life isn't the greatest, especially if you are a power user and will be playing games, taking photos / videos and browsing social media all day. Standby time is fantastic but be prepared to charge your phone fully at least once in the day. If you're like me, you might have to plug it in once mid day and again at night. My other complaint is the base storage. 64gb is nothing now a days. I think the base model should have at least 128gb. Apps are getting larger and you can easily chew through 64gb if you download a few games and shoot a few videos. Fortunately you get google photos for free to back everything up, but you'll end up having to free up storage often. Other than those two things. The phone is pretty handsome and feels great in the hands. I like the glossy black color. It looks elegant in a clear case. The screen is nice and vibrant. The 90hz display is pretty cool, everything looks and feels snappy. The games that take advantage of the 90hz screen look pretty awesome. I see some people complaining about the bezels, but they aren't terrible. I'd rather have the small bezels than a notch any day. The screen doesn't get extremely bright, but I didn't have any trouble viewing it outdoors in the sun. The face unlock is very fast, too fast sometimes lol. I have OCD and am constantly wiping smudges off the screen. My phone will unlock before I even get to wipe the screen with a cloth causing me to make accidental swipes on my phone. The phone does unlock when your eyes are closed! I don't like that, perhaps google will add an option to turn that off later.
The radar technology in the phone is also pretty cool, I feel like it's a little gimmicky right now because there isn't a whole lot to do with it yet. You can use it to skip or rewind tracks on google music, you can use it to wave hello to Pikachu on your wallpaper lol, but I found myself forgetting that it's even there. Perhaps its the beginning of something amazing, maybe google or some other apps will add some really cool features that use it.
At the end of the day, Would I recommend the Pixel 4? Yes and No.
Google is charging a premium for a phone with hardware that has been out for almost a year and it really should have a bigger battery and at least 128 gb of storage.
If you can find this phone on sale or get a great deal from a store or carrier, then yes I would recommend it. Especially if you are a fan of android and google assistant. The pure android experience is still great and you can expect to get software updates for at least 3 years from google. The camera is excellent , and I can't wait to drive out to the country side and try some astrophotography! Google's Night Mode / low light mode is still king!
Pros; Excellent Camera
Beautiful vibrant 90hz amoled display
Stock Android / Guaranteed updates
Fast charging power supply included
Google Assistant
Project Soli Radar
Fast Face Unlock
Cons: Small battery ( but charges fast)
Video Quality needs improvement
64gb base model - skip it. get the 128gb.

The most fun I've had with a video camera

I'm the type of person who documents life all around me on a daily basis. I take dozens of photos and videos every day. I've owned several cameras in my lifetime, and I always carry the newest smartphone with the latest camera technology in my pocket. I have to admit, that this past week with the Go Pro Hero 8 Black on me at all times has made shooting video so much fun for me. There is endless possibilities to the type of footage you can capture everyday with this little camera. I started asking myself, why have I never purchased one of these in the past? I didn't think my life was exciting enough to justify owning a GoPro. I'm not very athletic, and I would never dare to go sky diving lol. But in all honesty, this is probably the best way to capture everyday moments in your life. I've used it to record beautiful sunset time-lapse videos, while playing out in the yard with the nephews, and even took it into a mosh pit at a concert lol. There is sooooo many possibilities with this awesome camera. The super view mode provides such an awesome field of view that it makes for amazing interesting footage, no matter what you are doing. I want to carry it with me everywhere and anywhere. I could ramble on and on about how great it is for just about any scenario, but let's talk about the GoPro itself.
The Hero 8 Black is built very tough and with excellent build quality. I don't know what the housing is made of but it looks and feels like magnesium alloy. It is tough and I think it will probably take a good beating. The one thing that boggles my mind is the lens housing, I think it's plastic? Sure doesn't feel like glass. GoPro says it is the toughest ever, but i worry that over time the material will get scratched and it doesn't look like you can easily replace it on your own. Other than that, the GoPro does feel like its built like a baby tank. The battery cover is very tough, and actually a little hard to open and close ( understandably) as it provides an excellent seal against dust/dirt/snow/water/ whatever you want to throw at it.The buttons are all well placed and responsive. My favorite new feature is that the mounting bracket is built into the GoPro now, you no longer need to put the GoPro in a mount shell. The lil arms easily protrude when you need to mount it, and just as easily tuck away nicely and neatly into the body of the GoPro. The front facing screen provides plenty of info while recording or playing back footage. The touchscreen on the back is quite responsive as well. It can be a little finicky trying to swipe and dig around the menus with it though. I prefer to and recommend that you use the GoPro app on your phone to change settings and playback footage. The app is much more responsive and easier to use on your phone and the GoPro connects to it quick and easy. The app makes operation and media transfers quick and seamless.
I highly recommend this to anyone that loves shooting videos in any scenario. It really is perfect for any situation. Vlogging, musicians, athletes, kiddos, driving, walking, anything! The hyper smooth 2.0 is a game changer and when paired with that amazing ultra wide angle. Mwuah! Amazing, crisp, stable 4k 60 videos! I love it. No other camera or smart phone is as fun to record memories with. I can't wait to get my hands on the new modules coming for this camera.
Pros: Built like a tank
so many accessories available and more to come!
software is excellent, especially when paired with a smartphone
4k 60fps!! and it is so crisp and stable. Even while jogging or driving on bumpy roads!
I could go on and on and on, just buy it! You'll love it I promise!
Cons: Plastic lens protective cover. (im afraid it'll scratch easy)

Excellent, "lightweight" threat protection
on October 16, 2019

AVG has long been my favorite antivirus protection for windows. It was great a few years back when I started using it. It runs smoothly in the background and doesn't hog many of your computers resources. It is currently using less than 300mb of my system memory and It is running a scan! It checks your browser for threats, scans for viruses and malware and is frequently updated. You can opt in for added features but it costs a bit more. I trust AVG to protect my computer from malware. It's a must have, especially if you have family that may accidentally wander off onto some sketchy websites or emails. I've had it installed for about a week now and I do not see any slow down on my computer. It didn't affect it's boot up time and doesn't bog down its processor and memory. AVG has always been pretty good about that and continues to improve.
Pros; Wide range of protection. Protects your files, browser, emails, privacy, and defends against hackers.
Does not use up alot of system resources, so it runs smoothly even while actively scanning your computer for threats.
Cons: No complaints from me.

Iconic Design, pretty good sound quality

This is by far, the coolest looking bluetooth speaker I have ever owned. I'm just old enough to remember seeing people walk down the streets with this style boombox in their arms lol. I wanted one as a kid! Never had one then, but this one is awesome and a great nostalgia trip. I love the fact that it has a working cassette player. I have an old collection of cassettes and they sound great through this boombox. It has just about everything you could ask for in a boombox. It has a built in AM/FM tuner with an actual rotating dial on the side. You can connect a media player through USB, or Aux jack, it also has a micro sd card slot if you want to carry music on a memory card and play from there. It also of course has bluetooth allowing you to connect to your phone, tablet or computer. I love that it has dedicated bass and treble knobs and bass boost switch. You can also toggle between mono and stereo, the speaker sounds best in stereo with bass boost on. Volume is great, and get's loud enough to entertain a small party. I took this to the drive in theater with me and used it in the car to tune in and listen to the movie with and it filled my car with good bass during action scenes and voices came through nice and clear. This speaker is definitely a conversation starter, and everyone that has seen it immediately smiles and lets out a chuckle and says that's pretty cool! This stereo actually has the ability to record! You can record the radio onto a cassette. It also has a built in microphone for recording onto the cassette or usb/sd card slot. Nifty feature! Perhaps I'll use it to record some demo tapes the old fashioned way lol.
I would say that sound quality is pretty good at this price point, for a speaker this big I wish it had a bit more bass, but it is just deep enough to let you groove and feel the beat. Mids and highs are excellent and clear. It also has the ability to power with 8 D batteries, but honestly the built in rechargeable battery made it through a 2 hour movie and about 3 hours of music in a day and It still has some juice left in it. There's no battery gauge, so it's hard to tell if the battery is running low but you probably won't have to worry about it dying on you at a party if you charge it for a couple hours the night before. All in all, I think this boombox is really cool and an excellent value. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take a trip back in time every time they listen to music on this. It 's iconic design looks great on a shelf in the bedroom or living room, and if you still happen to have a collection of cassettes you should definitely grab this for them!

Great sound for its size
on October 13, 2019
Posted by: Ponskippa
from San Antonio, TX
I'd been looking for a small sound bar for my bedroom TV for some time, I didn't want to spend too much and I wasn't impressed by other compact sound bars I had looked at in the past. I have a 43' TV in my bedroom and the built in speakers (although decent) aren't very great for watching movies or playing video games. This compact sound bar sounds better than the speakers in my tv , and when in "theater mode" I can hear voices more clearly when other sound effects such as blasts or music is going on in the back ground. My TV speakers tend to drown out voices when music or explosions are happening on movies and shows. Sound quality is impressive considering it's size. Bass is present, not very punchy like you would get from a dedicated subwoofer, but it is definitely better than built in TV speakers. The speaker supports 2.0 stereo sound, making movie watching and music listening pleasant. My only complaints about it are that it does not come with an optical cable, and there is no way to know what your volume is set at. Nit picking, but I like to see some sort of visual gauge for volume when raising or lowering. The speaker has a status light that changes color to let you know what input you are using, it is handy so you're not completely blind at what input your speaker is connected to. It does come with an auxiliary cable that splits into stereo RCA cables if your TV supports them, but for best audio quality I would recommend an optical cable. My only other complaint about this sounder is that the included remote feels very cheap and has basic controls. You get three sound modes, "theater", "news" and "standard" and there is no way to control bass or treble. Theater mode is what I leave mine set to at all times as I find it to be the most pleasant sounding. On the plus side, It stays put in the mode you choose after you turn it off and power it back on later. Overall - I am pretty pleased with this soundbar but I would only recommend it to you if you want a small sound bar for your bed room or other small area. I'd especially recommend this for a gaming monitor, as it is compact and would sit well right under a monitor for gaming. Gaming monitors tend to have the worst speakers ever. If you're looking for a sound bar for your living / theater room for a theater like experience, look for something bigger with a subwoofer.
Pros- Compact, easy to connect, very good sound quality for its size, Aux, USB, Optical and RCA connection options.
Cons- No digital display for volume or input info, no optical cable in the box.

The Meg! - Great printer for students / sm offices
on August 29, 2019
Posted by: Ponskippa
from San Antonio, TX
I want to start by saying that the Canon Pixma Megatank G6020 Wireless All in One Printer, is the first printer I have EVER been excited about owning. I call it the Meg for short. We all know the struggles of owning a printer, they can be messy, a pain in the neck to set up, ink gets really expensive really fast and paper jams. I am excited to own this printer because Canon claims that you can print 6,000 black and white pages with one bottle of black ink and 7,700 color pages with a set of color ink bottles. That is awesome! The black ink bottle costs $17.99 as of today. If my math is correct, this printer costs 0.00299833 cents a page to print black and white documents with! The color ink refilled are $11.99 as of today each. That breaks down to 0.004671 cents a page color prints! That's insane! I imagine I will not need to refill this thing for at least a year or longer.
Setting up the Canon MegaTank Printer was quick and easy. All you got to do is remove a few plastic tabs, install the included printer heads and fill up the ink tank reservoirs with the included ink. Canon is incredibly generous and includes 3 whole bottles of black ink in the box. 6,000 B and W prints per bottle. Let that sink in for a bit. Canon also includes a set of color ink bottles in the box to fill the tanks. Refilling the ink tanks is easy and pretty fool proof. As long as you follow directions and line up the bottle slowly and accurately, there is no ink spill or mess to clean up after.
Canon includes a setup disk for windows, but honestly if you have wifi at home setting it up is easy. It supports WPS connection, making connecting this printer to your wireless router quick and easy. It also supports Google Cloud Print, so once you register the printer in google chrome, you can print from just about any device using the google chrome browser. Canon also has an app for iOS and Android that has many cool features for your prints. If you want to print photos, the app has many useful templates and guides to help make your photo prints.
The printer also has a built in scanner for making photocopies of documents and photos. You can also save the scan to your computer or mobile device using the app. Printing large photos takes a few seconds, but the photos I printed looked great. They had nice vibrant colors and the ink dries pretty quick. Document printing is fast, and even faster if all you print is black and white text.
Build Quality - This is probably the only downside I see in this printer. Some of the plastic parts feel light , and cheap. I feel like I have to be gentle when opening trays and covers because I' feel like i am going to break them. I've owned several printers and it's a common thing with printers. The build quality is what you should expect from a consumer printer. On the positive side, everything works great and as it should. No hiccups or glitches to deal with. The printer heads lined up properly and the scanner works great. The printer keeps a compact size considering everything it brings to the table. It has a large paper try to hold a nice big stack of paper, and you can also load envelopes, 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper on the backside with the pull out tray. The printer is smart enough to know when to pull the photo paper from the rear tray for photo prints and not the paper that you have stowed in the paper tray underneath.
I can honestly say that this printer is an incredible value, and I highly recommend this to students, small offices or small businesses and really to anyone looking for a great budget friendly printer. No more running to the store for ink because you ran out mid print job!
5 shooting stars! *****
Pros; Excellent value, Ink lasts and lasts and lasts.
Affordable Ink bottles, very easily to refill
Prints photos and documents quickly
Great wireless integration and cloud support.
Cons: Some of the plastic feels cheap. I hope all the moving parts last as long as the ink does!

Excellent portable storage at an unbeatable price
on August 23, 2019
Posted by: Ponskippa

Portable hard drives have gotten smaller, faster, quieter, and more power efficient than ever, and the Seagate Backup Plus 5TB portable drive is a great example of it. I was expecting a monster of a drive, but I would say that it is about 2x the thickness of a standard 1 TB portable hard drive. I can't find the drive speed but I find it to be quick enough to transfer large files in just a few minutes. I copied over almost 1 TB of data from an aging hard drive I own and it transferred in just a little over an hour. This is a mechanical hard drive, not an ssd, just pointing it out. So the transfer rates are expected. Seagate states that it has a 5gb transfer rate over USB 3.0. A usb 3.0 cable is included and is compatible with usb 2.0. Seagate includes backup software on the drive that you can download and install onto your windows pc or mac if you prefer to have software automatically backup your files on your computer. I can't comment on long term reliability of this drive, but from my experiences, mechanical disk drives seem to last a few years so long as you take good care of them and don't leave them plugged in 24/7. I connected the hard drive to my portable projector, smart tv, and chromebook and they all had no issue powering up the drive and connecting to it. The provided usb 3.0 cable works in transferring and powering the hard drive so long as your device outputs enough power to it. I have a small nebula capsule projector and it was able to power this huge drive. So I think you should be able to use it on most devices that you connect it to. 5TB of space is a ton of space. I'm not sure I will ever be able to fill it up. But I can easily recommend this drive to anyone looking for storage for their large files. Movies, photos, videos. You can even backup a whole system with it and have plenty of room to spare. This is quite possibly the best bang for your buck if you want the most storage space at an affordable price. I'd also recommend this to gamers who have an enormous digital library on their PS4 or Xbox One.

Grippy, Rugged, Slim and Protective!
on August 20, 2019

This is now hands down my all time favorite iPhone case. I purchased about 5 other cases for the iPhone XR before getting my hands on the Presidio Grip case and I can honestly say that this is the best of the bunch. It is slim yet rugged and protective. The grooves on the sides of the case make the case very grippy and let you have a secure hold on your phone. I did not do a drop test but the case looks and feels like it would at least be able to withstand a drop from 6 feet. The case has enough "raise" to protect the screen and camera and the material is rugged and sturdy. This case keeps the iPhone XR slim and lightweight. The phone is big and this case does not add much bulk or weight to the phone. It has a nice matte texture and does not attract fingerprints or dust and lint. The volume and power buttons have no issues with this case and remain clicky and responsive. Charging ports and speakers also are unobstructed with this case. I am the type of person who constantly buys new cases for his phone, and I can honestly say that I plan on keeping this case on my phone as long as possible. It is a very nice and sleek case and keeps the iPhone XR slim and light. I highly recommend this case.

Beautiful, Modern, Powerful but why?
on August 9, 2019
Posted by: Ponskippa

I was initially very excited to get my hands on the Google Pixel Slate. I'm a bit of a google fanboy and love the hardware design of google products. I got a chance to use the Slate that comes with the Intel I5 processor, 8 GB of ram and 128 GB of storage. These are powerful laptop specs.. in a tablet / chromebook hybrid. This setup should have almost no problem running most android apps on the google play store. But half the apps I downloaded from the Google play store had lag or just look awful on the gorgeous Pixel Slate screen. Most apps on the play store are designed for Android phones and they don't play well with the Pixel Slate screen. I love that google has given us the option to download android apps onto chromebooks but the play store is a mess and let's be honest. Tablet support for Android by software developers is almost non existent. Many of the apps are windowed and do not support the keyboard, which for me makes for an awkward experience when using this tablet in keyboard / laptop mode. You can argue that you can use it as a tablet and remove the keyboard but the pixel slate is HUGE, and trying to play games or type on the screen in tablet mode is cumbersome. The pixel slate is frankly just too big to hold in one hand and free up your other hand for swiping. That being said.. I don't quite understand why Google decided to make this years Pixel"book" into a "Slate". I find myself only using it with the Google Slate Keyboard attached. Google should have included the keyboard with the slate from the get go. Now as far as chromebooks.. this powerful setup can't really do anything that a lower end Chromebook can. I tried connecting an sd card to transfer my photos and videos i took with a mirrorless camera and the whole process was really laggy and buggy. There is absolutely no reason an app from the google play store or a video I recorded onto an sd card should lag during playback on this device. It has an Intel i5!! and 8 GB of ram! Perhaps google can fix many of the issues over time with software updates, and maybe just maybe software developers will polish apps and software for chromebooks and the google play store for tablet use. But do you really need to spend this much on hardware when the software does not take advantage of all the power under the hood of the pixel slate? The screen is gorgeous, and movies, photos, art all look great on the screen. Audio is crisp, and full. Not as loud as I was expecting but it sounds great. I find myself only using the Pixel Slate to browse the web or watch a movie on netflix. This is a product for Google Fanyboys such as myself. It's hard to recommend this product to a student or working professional who wants to edit photos and videos or paint a gallery worthy piece of art on this even though it is beautiful to look at.
Pros: Large Beautiful Display
Dual Front Firing Speakers that sound good
Dual USB C ports for charging or accesories
Powerful, fast and long battery life

Great for note taking and drawing

If you have purchased a Google Pixel Slate, then the Pixelbook Pen is almost a no brainer. It is a little expensive yes, but it is a great tool if you plan on jotting down lots of notes or if you are an artist and are looking for a good digital drawing / painting tool. I have fairly large hands and the pen feels comfortable and is just the right size. The nib feels quite smooth when writing / drawing on the Pixel Slate. There is the slightest "lag" when drawing on the slate, probably depends on the app you are using to write and draw with but in my use I found it to be perfectly fine and I am looking forward to using it for note taking and the occasional drawing with sketch apps. I was initially surprised that it needs a AAAA battery to power it. I didn't even know that size battery existed until i unboxed the pen. I don't know how long the battery will last in the pen before it needs to be replaced, but you can find them easily online for fairly cheap. I do like that I never have to charge the pen as with other stylus's. If the battery lasts at least 6 months then I think it is an excellent trade off and the pen easily unscrews for a quick battery swap.
The Pixel Slate has several tools that work with the pen. You can use it to take screen shots, and circle things on the screen for a google search with the google assistant at the press of a button. I recommend the pixelbook pen if you are the type of person who could greatly benefit from a stylus. My only complain is that it does not come with any extra nibs and there is absolutely no way of knowing how much longer the battery in it will last you.

Produce clear pictures and sound with this Miroir Full HD pico projector. The 7000 mAh lithium-polymer battery offers up to 2 hours of viewing time, while the pair of 2W speakers deliver high-quality sound for an all-around multimedia experience. This Miroir Full HD pico projector has HDMI and USB Type-C ports for secure connection to a variety of input devices.

What speakers go well with this??

If you want to keep things "portable" I would recommend using any portable speaker with an AUX input. most bluetooth speakers come with an AUX input. Get a 3.5mm aux cable and plug it into your speaker of choice!

Revel in immersive audio with this retro-style Ion Boombox Deluxe portable stereo. Dual full-range speakers deliver impressive sound reproduction, while Bluetooth technology, USB playback, an AM FM radio and a built-in cassette player offer vast entertainment options. This Ion Boombox Deluxe portable stereo comes with a long-lasting rechargeable battery for convenience.

Can you record on cassette tapes when playing from Bluetooth.

yes, But i believe it records with the built in microphone. So don't expect the best sound quality and it might pick up ambient sounds in the room during the recording.

Experience immersive Dolby Atmos sound through a single device with this Sony sound bar. It connects to your TV wirelessly or with an HDMI cable, and it pairs with Bluetooth devices for audio streaming. This Sony sound bar includes the Vertical Sound Engine, which eliminates the need for ceiling-mounted speakers.

I have this soundbar connected to the Sony 75 X850E TV using the HDMI ARC connection. There is a slight audio lag using the soundbar (occurs with HDMI or optical). The delay is small but definitely there, so this causes lip sync issues. Any suggestions?

you can try to adjust it by pressing the option button, then TV or HDMI (according to whichever you are experiencing lag) then press the up or down button press the center button to adjust. It can be difficult to get it perfect. I've tried myself and I just got it as close as I could

I recently purchased the HT-X9000F along with a 2018 TCL Series 6 TV. While it sounds great, is there any way to have its menu appear on my TCL 6 series? It's hard to know which mode I'm in or cycle through the settings without having them show up.

You have to connect the soundbar with an HDMI cable for the menu to appear on screen on your input of choice. If you have it connected with an optical cable it won't work. Also, you need to have it connected with HDMI as it is the only way to enable dolby atoms on supported titles.

I've got my Soundbar hooked up to my TCL 6 Series via HDMI to HDMI ARC, however, when I press the "Home" button on my Sony remote. It just mutes the sound and no menu comes up. Please help! Thanks.

maybe try resetting the sound bar? the manual shows you how to reset the system.
